Ch. 14: Enter the Den

"We all need to catch up on sleep," Maura suggested, noticing the tired expression on Jane's face.

"It's a good idea. I know Adam is at my apartment so I will have clothes in the morning," Dani retorted, standing up from her desk chair. And Regina is away for now, she thought to herself.

Jane gave a curious expression, opening Dani's desk and placed the glasses and whiskey into her desk. "Then where are going to sleep," she inquired.

"In the cot room. I have done it before." Dani walked to the sliding metal door, pushing it open. She entered halfway then turned her attention back to the two women, "Good night."

"Night," Jane said, followed by Maura. The doors then closed, leaving Jane and Maura alone once more. "What did we get ourselves into, Maur?"

Maura laced her fingers with Jane's, giving it a light squeeze of assurance. "Let's go home," Maura said softly.

Jane nodded back, lifting Maura's hand, and kissing it before they left the warehouse together.

NF

The next morning, Jane opened her eyes to see Maura still asleep. She slipped out of the bed to wash up then snuck downstairs, letting the blonde get a couple more hours of sleep. Usually, it was Maura who was up first but with the late night and revelation, the doctor was exhausted. Jane was tired as well but, her detective brain would not stop going. Like the ever-working cogs of a machine, Jane's brain went into overdrive.

She needed to know more and prepare herself. For the last couple of days, she observed and led with Dani but, with the new side of Dani emerging, Jane needed to know more about the world she entered.

After getting her own and presetting Maura's coffee, despite the contraption's weird buttons, Jane walked over to Maura's bag and pulled out Van Helsing's journal. She took a seat on the sofa and opened it to the first page, reading it aloud, "I wanted to find a new world for these people. Hated for their conditions, some that are out of their control. I have not returned to the Netherlands for some time since my late wife's passing and more cases of these special individuals keep occurring here in Europe. First, the nosferatu and now, savage creatures of wolf like shape. In the recent months, I was also informed of a character walking near the old burned down site of the late Doctor Jekyll's home."

Dani's home burned down; Jane absorbed. She glanced at the date of the journal entry, 1897, then brought her attention back to the book. "The late Doctor Henry Jekyll's home burned down in 1886. The sightings of this individual maybe a resurgence of the elusive Mister Edward Hyde or Doctor Jekyll's twin sister. Miss Jekyll disappeared the same night as the fire and has not been seen in the last eleven years."

"What are you readin', Janie?"

Jane jumped in surprise, closing the book quickly and looked over her shoulder to see her mom in the kitchen. "Ma," Jane hissed, feeling all riled up.

"What? You can't be happy to see your mother?"

"Not when she tries to give me a heart attack! You're lucky I don't have my gun on me," Jane scolded.

Angela waved her with a 'hmph' escaping pass her lips as she walked to the coffee maker. "You know Maura doesn't like instant," Angela pointed out.

Jane rolled her eyes. "Yes Ma, I know. It's her panda poo stuff."

Angela began to pull out pans and spatulas, prompting Jane to place Van Helsing's journal down. She walked over to the island and took a seat while Angela continued to speak, "So what were you reading? Seems like you were very interested."

"It was just a book that Maura borrowed."

"Really? You reading one of Maura's books?"

Jane rolled her eyes. "Yeah Ma, I do like to read once in a while and the book is interesting."

"Maybe, I should read it then."

"Um…no," Jane answered back.

"Why? If you can read it and Maura can then maybe it might be interesting to me."

Shit…shit…think of something Jane, the detective freaked out mentally. "It's about…lesbian…stuff."

Angela's eyebrows went up quickly. She plopped Jane's pancake on the plate while Jane cringed. "Lesbian stuff. What kind of lesbian stuff?"

"Oh god, Ma. You don't need to know about that."

"I'm trying to show interest in my daughter's life, and this is how you pay me back after going thorough…"

"So many hours of labor," Jane mimicked her mother. "Ma, you don't need to know everything."

Another pancake was placed on Jane's plate. "You know that there are many books about sexual pleasing for lesbian relationships if you're worried about pleasuring Maura."

NO!

"Please stop."

"Like I heard there's this position called-"

"Good morning, Angela. Jane," Maura greeted, entering the kitchen.

"Morning Maura," Angela greeted with a wide smile. "Janie was just telling me about your-"

"New book," Jane cut in. She looked at Maura directly in the eye, "You know the book in your bag?"

"Yes, that book," Maura understood. "What about it?"

Angela perked, "Janie was explaining that it was about lesbian sex."

Maura's eyes widened in surprise while Jane buried her face in her hands. "Ma, can we not," Jane pleaded.

"Janie, I think you should be open with Maura as a partner especially if you are worried about pleasing her."

"Ma…"

Despite Jane being right there, Angela, in a stage whisper, said to Maura, "I think she's worried about you know…getting you there."

A blush rose to Maura's face and Jane just felt the Earth opened and swallowed her whole. "Alright, Ma. Thank you for making pancakes but Maura and I need to eat then go to work," Jane said abruptly, standing up from her stool and directing her word stumbling Angela to the back door. As soon as Jane got her out, she locked the door quickly and placed her back against the door, sighing in relief.

"Jane, that was a bit rude," Maura admonished softly.

"I was not going to die of embarrassment." Maura gave a pointed look and Jane rolled her eyes, "You know what I mean, Maur."

"I know, Jane." She took a seat at the bar stool, taking a bite of her pancake then looked back at her girlfriend. "Lesbian 'stuff'," Maura smirked.

Jane's eyes darted up fast and the blush was originally fading, returned anew with a deeper red. "I…I had to make something up and my brain jumped to that."

Maura smiled as Jane walked back to the stool, taking a seat. The doctor moved her hand to Jane's, letting her thumb rub small circles on the hand. "Did you find anything in the book?"

"Dani disappeared in 1886 when the Jekyll house burned down. Supposedly, Van Helsing heard that a person was wandering the burnt grounds eleven years later."

"Eleven years? That's odd."

Jane nodded in agreement, "It's something to bring up."

"But there's something else bothering you?"

"Thought you didn't like to guess?"

"I'm not guessing," Maura assured. She then lifted Jane's hand, kissing it gently, and continued, "I just know you."

Jane gave a soft smile then her expression changed to one of observation. "Why give the book to Doctor Crane to keep it just shelved? Harding could have noticed this also?"

"Maybe she knew that they wouldn't really read it."

"Possible," Jane answered. "Van Helsing was invested in helping the supernatural. He was talking about a new place which must be here in America." There was then a vibration from both Jane and Maura's phones, prompting the two to look at their phones.

"It's Adam," Jane stated to Maura. "He's just saying that Dani's still at the warehouse. Yours?"

"Regina."

"What was she asking about?"

"Checking on us and Dani."

"Dani hasn't spoken with her yet." Maura shook her head and Jane sighed, "I don't get Dani. It's like a puzzle within a puzzle. She's more dangerous also."

"Because of Hyde?"

"Especially because of Hyde," Jane asserted. Maura watched as Jane clenched her jaw and her fist, "They were aggressive, and I didn't like how they were eyeing you. It wasn't a good idea for them to meet you."

"Jane," Maura touched Jane's cheek. "Hyde didn't show the want or need to harm me or you."

"That's a guess."

"I can see it in their eyes. I don't know how to explain but, I can see it somehow."

Jane gave a small smile then gestured to Maura's stomach. "You feel it right there," she asked. Maura nodded and Jane sighed, "That's a gut feeling, Maura. You got to trust that and if your gut is saying that Hyde is not going to hurt you, I'll trust it and you."

Maura nodded then leaned in and kissed Jane on the lips gently. She pulled back and expressed, "I'm going to get dress." She began to walk away while Jane attempted to eat her somewhat cold pancakes when Maura called out, "By the way, Jane…" The detective looked over and Maura gave a coy smile as she stated openly, "Your mother is incorrect. I believe that you can 'get me there'."

Jane spluttered, prompting Maura to let out a giggle.

"It was just a fling, Danielle. Nothing more."

"A fling? You said…"

"I said many things. It was in throes of passion."

"You said that you and I could be married."

"Again, throes of…"

Bleary eyes opened and her mouth felt like cotton as Dani sat up from her cot. She ran her hand over her face then pushed back her messed-up hair to a quick ponytail. A yawn emerged with a stretch is when she noticed that on her body was a blanket and a smell of coffee. She stood up and walked toward the sliding door, pushing it aside to hear a soft hum coming from the next room.

Fuck, Dani thought, knowing who her visitor was. She took in a deep breath and released it shakily as she stepped completely through.

Regina sat at her desk with her dark eyes directed toward the book she was reading, on the desk was two sets of coffee mugs. Dani's eyes then darted to the duffle bag sitting on Adam's desk with that cane.

Ah, I knew that idiot creature would get it, Hyde boasted.

"Don't call him that," Dani retorted a bit too loudly, prompting Regina to look up from her book.

"You're awake," she gave a tentative smile. Dani nodded in acknowledgment, removing the cane from on top of the bag. Regina watched as the silver reflected Dani's image and in a simple movement, Dani tossed it aside. "Adam brought your spare clothes, said that your other items are in there as well," Regina informed.

"I'm guessing Adam went to rest."

"Yes…" Dani nodded again to Regina's answer then opened the duffle to pull out a polo and a pair of jeans. Shen then went to side pockets, pulling out the infamous blue vial. She opened the vial, drank it then tossed it aside before taking a seat across from Regina.

Silence came over them; one that was uncomfortable and unsure. Dani grabbed the mug, taking a small sip while Regina took a sip of her coffee. "Must have been hard to keep a secret so long," Regina stated quietly. Dani continued to sip on her coffee, not bothering to answer. Regina rolled her chair in front of Dani then reached her hand, touching Dani's knee. "Danielle, please talk to me."

Regina watched as the soft eyes darted from her hand to her face. "I don't know what you want me to say, Regina," Dani answered finally, turning away.

"Something. Anything."

Dani pulled away from Regina's touch, looking away. "There's not much to say, Regina. I'm over one hundred years old and some bloody change with a monstrous half that can take over my body and mind for briefs periods. That's something," Dani retorted sarcastically, standing up from her chair.

"Dani…"

"Oh," Dani raised her hand, "I also have Dracula wanting to rip me into millions of pieces and since I can't die, he'll do it over and over again."

"Because of Mina."

"One of my many mistakes."

"You cared about her."

"Again, a mistake," Dani emphasized. "Caring for others just leads to just more damage in its wake."

"You don't believe that," Regina argued; her voice laced with hurt. Dani turned her head, unable to look at Regina but the witch shook her head, "Danielle, Dani, I know you don't mean that." She reached her hand out and touched Dani's back.

Dani turned around to look at her with a neutral expression. This is another mistake ready to happen. A passion that only leads to stupidity and hurt. "I believe that we need to keep this arrangement professional," Dani informed.

"Arrangement," Regina scoffed. "That's what you're calling what is going on between us?"

"Regina-"

"Dani, what is going on between us is not an arrangement." Regina bit her lip and looked away for second, feeling a tear threatening to go down her cheek. She cleared her throat and continued, "I have feelings for you, Danielle."

"Which means that this needs to end," Dani looked away then stepped back.

She's doing this because of her condition, the witch knew deep within. But Regina still grabbed Dani's hand, stopping her from pulling away. "Tell me in my face that you don't care then I will walk away from this. It will be strictly business," she challenged.

The detective pulled her hand away. She turned her body and brought her eyes to look at Regina. Her throat constricted slightly, and she bowed her head, "I…I don't care about you."

Regina sighed, pulling her hand away. "Have a good day, Detective."

"You as well, Miss Coldwell."

She listened to the steps walked away and the doors closed loudly. Dani closed her eyes and bowed her head before taking a deep sip of her coffee. Her heart felt heavy, but it had to be done for both their sake's.

Keeping me within won't stop me, Hyde reminded Dani. The detective crossed her arms over her chest tiredly, walking back to the cane that she tossed aside. She picked it up and walked by the elevator to see her reflection.

Hyde smirked and their eyes looked down at the cane in their hand. "I hate that fuckin thing," Dani commented, running her fingers along the top of the cane.

Because it represents everything, Hyde indicated. Our past and our future.

Dani gripped the cane then pulled her watch out. It was still ticking loudly despite the crack. "If you're back permanently, you need to work with me."

I always work with you, Danielle.

"I mean it. I need you to fuck this up. We already are in shit."

Whose fault is that?

Dani sighed, shaking her head. She hated that this thing inside her was right because it was her fault that this was unfolding.

Slowly, everyone started to arrive at the warehouse. With each arrival, they walked to an area that was away from Dani to work on other items. Jane took up a desk, continuing to read through Van Helsing's journal while Maura headed to the morgue to go over the bodies. Eventually, everyone arrived, and night began to take over.

As the detectives gathered in the room and in addition, Maura joined from upstairs. "Any other findings," Jane inquired.

"Doctor Crane and I discovered that on each body, the injuries, though pulled, showed that despite the tear, it took each piece out of socket correctly."

"What about the torso?"

"I can't confirm the cuts, but the head and the remaining limbs showed that there was technique involved as if done by someone in the medical field."

"So, what's the plan for Faust," Jane inquired.

"We drive down to the location; the humans go inside because that's the clientele. The goal is to get Adam and I inside through the back door," Dani explained. "Once we are in, we find Faust and get our answers."

"Who is tagging along?"

"Obviously you. Korsak, Frost, and…" the eyes drifted "Maura."

"Why Maura?"

"Medical."

With Frost and Nina on the phone, Adam drove to the address with Dani sitting in the front and Korsak, Frankie, Maura, and Jane sitting in the back. As they drove, a tense silence hung over them until Adam spoke, "Why did you lie?"

"I didn't lie," Danielle replied, keeping her eyes on the road.

Adam rolled his eyes, "Let me rephrase it then: you withheld information about your condition."

"Listen, we can talk about it later. We're here," Dani cut off as they pulled up to an area filled with suburban houses.

Jane and Maura peered out and Maura was the first to speak, "It looks like an average neighborhood."

"Looks are deceiving," Adam retorted but the words didn't go unnoticed by Jane or Maura. The words were direct not only to the situation but to Dani as well. "We are far enough that this van won't be spotted but close enough to go in as back up."

"Neither of you are going in," Jane questioned.

Dani shook her head, "As we established, our faces are known so that leaves you, Korsak, Frost, and Maura."

Jane's eyebrows went up. "You did not mention Maura," Jane informed the two.

"I think it was implied, Rizzoli," Adam retorted, pulling out a handgun from the glove compartment. He handed it to Dani who loaded it up, placed it into a hip holster then gave it to Maura. "Glock with a full magazine and a bullet in the chamber."

"Listen, she knows how to shoot but-"

"This is out of police protocol," Korsak added.

"Like you are going to write a report about this," Adam argued.

"Doesn't matter. She's a civilian," Frost added.

Dani shook her head. "You are humans also, but you don't see me arguing about it."

"You also kept a secret about you having another personality," Adam jabbed.

Before another argument was about to start, Maura raised her hands up and said, "Stop!" Everyone's voices stopped and their attention went to Maura. Her eyes darted from Jane to Adam then to Dani before she looked back at her girlfriend. "Jane, I can do this," Maura assured.

Jane sighed, "I know you can, but this is going beyond your job as an ME."

"We are passed all of our scopes, Jane."

"She has a point," Frost added.

Dani reached out and touched Jane's shoulder. "Look, the main goal is to get Adam and I in from the back door," she then took her hand back, grabbing a piece of paper that was on the floor. Grabbing a pencil from the glove compartment, Dani began to draw quickly; something that no one seen before until finally, she handed the paper.

It showed the old man, looking to be in his fifties with a gray beard and a receding hairline. "That's Faust," Dani informed the group. "At least, how I last remember him a couple years ago."

Part of Maura wanted to inquire about the swiftness of the drawing, but the other part knew that it was a question for another time. Frost leaned over, taking a picture of the sketch then sending it out to everyone's phone. He then looked up at Dani and Adam, "So Maura goes in then we follow her."

"Spread out," Adam corrected. "Blood dens are somewhat tight quarters especially with customers are present."

"So, the goal is to get you guys inside from the back," Frankie concluded, crossing hiss arms in distaste.

"Yes," Dani answered. "They always locked the doors in the back after the last blood den bust that we did."

"They're on guard."

"Yup, bouncer at the front. Just don't act like a cop."

"But you're sending us in," Frankie argued. He then gestured toward the others, "We are human and don't got immortality. We could die in there."

"You won't," Adam argued back. "At least, we're avoiding it. Just walk in, take a seat somewhere until Maura finds an opportunity. All she got to do is locate the back door or see Faust. Shit, if you heard him that's perfect."

Before anyone could pipe up, Dani said quickly, "We don't have time. If Faust is here and knows that Adam and I are here. We will lose him."

Jane looked at Maura and she returned the gaze before she nodded. "Let's go," Jane agreed.

Jane opened the backdoor of the van, and everyone stepped out of the van, one by one with each person placing an earpiece. Dani picked up the laptop, passing it to Adam, and said, "Alright, let's get the relay going."

"Loading up system. Detective Holiday, security system should be showing up," Adam informed.

"All good. We are accessing the system slowly," Nina confirmed.

Adam looked over at Dani who continued to observe the others approaching the Blood den. "Sending them into the lion's den," Adam commented.

Dani crossed her arms over her chest, "I know."

"If this goes south, we have to get them out."

"I know and we will."

When Jane entered the residential home, she didn't expect that it would look like a night club. To make sure that they didn't look like a large group, each person approached at different times. Being the first to enter, Jane took in the sight of the dance poles, the sofas, and dark isolated areas. In addition, in another corner, there was a bar with a bartender.

Maura's eyes darted to sight of semi naked men and women, their bodies moving with the music beats mixed with red and white lights. The rhythm shaking the room and pulsating through Maura then she noticed the interactions between different individuals.

"My god, it looks like a strip club,"Frankie commented in astonishment.

"Eyes on the objective, Francesco," Maura heard Nina prompting a smile to show. Maura schooled her expression and continued to walk through the crowd.

"I've never seen so many naked individuals."

"I have," Jane, Dani, Adam, Frankie, and Korsak all said nonchalantly.

"Looks like a mix of vampires and human dancers so far. No Lycans except behind the bar," Adam observed.

"Be careful with that. If they think you smell…odd, they'll kick you out."

"Odd," Frankie inquired as he took a seat at a table to watch everything with a woman walking pass him, grazing his shoulders. With the touch, he felt a strange urge to stand up and follow her.

"Don't know how but Lycans have a sixth sense that you don't belong," Dani explained.

"Fuck, there are succubus in there too."

"That's a bad thing right," Korsak inquired as his eyes darted to an isolated sofa that had no dancer but with a table.

"Yes."

"This is unregulated as it gets in there," Dani pointed out. "Nina, Frost, can we get an idea about where the backdoor is? Word of advice: if eyes start glowing with the mouth, step back fast. They drain your energy to the point of death especially untrained ones."

Jane's eyes darted across the room and immediately, she spotted Maura who was at the bar. She decided to stand and based on her stature; Jane couldn't notice the gun that was hidden in Maura's jeans. "What would Faust be doing here, Danielle," Jane inquired as she walked quickly pass a man being bitten by another man at the neck.

"Faust loves many things, and you are literally walking through them: sex, drinking, and money. If this sponsor got him this job, there's more to it. There is always more with Faust."

"You're sure?"

"Positive."

"Found a door in the back corridor," Frost informed.

Before Jane could even move toward that direction, her eyes spotted someone approaching Maura. At first it was a young woman that had no top but with a bottom approaching, she then leaned in on the counter. "Hello beautiful," she whispered close to Maura.

"Sorry not interested at the moment," Maura excused, stepping back from the bar.

Then another approach this time, a man who gave a sleezy smile as he greeted, "If you don't want to have fun with her. You can join me and my lady." His eyes darted to one of the women giving a lap dance and biting into a neck of another patron.

"Again, no thank you," Maura expressed.

The patron grabbed Maura's arm quickly. "What the fuck is wrong with you? This place is either you are in or out of the experience," he questioned her.

Before Dani could say anything, Jane reached out and pulled Maura from the man's grip then shoved him back. "She said that she's not interested," Jane emphasized.

"Do we have a problem," the detective heard from a distance.

She glanced over her shoulder to see two bouncers approaching. "Dani, do I have a problem?"

"No, Jane, you do not cause the bouncers will rip you apart. Just take Maura aside and walk away," Dani said quickly.

"Just find the door," Maura whispered to her girlfriend.

Jane nodded then her eyes widened. "I think I found something better," she stated and gestured toward a man stepping out of a room in the hallway.

As they were pushing through the crowd that formed with all eyes on the two women. Adam sighed at the sight on his computer and looked at Dani. "Is this part of your big plan, Miss Jekyll," Adam questioned.

Before Dani could snap back, Jane spoke suddenly, "Dani, I found Faust."

Without a word, Dani opened the door quickly with Adam following behind. They approached the backdoor with Dani imploring, "I need someone to get to this door."

"I'm moving," Frankie answered, sitting up quickly from his chair and walking through the crowd that was forming in front of Jane and Maura. Korsak stood up, passing by a couple people until he could see Jane and Maura who were being confronted by the bouncers.

"They reek of cop," one bouncer spoke. "At least, the brunette smells."

Jane's hand went to her gun that was at her waistband and Maura did the same gesture. "I love you," Jane whispered to Maura.

"I love you too."

Just as they were pulling out their guns, a shot rang in the air causing everyone to jump in surprise and looked over to see Dani standing with the gun up in the air, Adam, and Frankie with their guns drawn. "Clear this hell hole now," Adam ordered.

The bouncers continued to stare at them until Dani repeated, "Get out now or I will personally kick you out. I don't give a fuck if you are all butt ass naked."

"We even know that some of you have warrants for your arrest."

Suddenly, many of the dancers, patrons, and even the two bartenders left leaving only the bouncers. Jane and Maura still drew their guns as they stepped back while the bouncers approached, and their human faces began to shift.

"Um…guys," Frankie muttered in worry as fangs began to show.

Adam and Dani stepped forward, preparing to be the first line of defense until the door behind them opened.

"Gentlemen, no need to do anything," a thick German accent ordered.

The bouncers stepped back while the Jane and others turned around to see an older gentleman staring at them. To Jane and Maura, he looked like any ordinary old man; his skin seemed worn down by years, long white hair tied back into a ponytail and his white goatee showing that it was trimmed with golden round spectacles perched over his nose.

"Detective Stevenson or should I be saying, Detective Jekyll," the man greeted.

Dani and Adam stepped forward, "Faustus."

NF

"I've been wondering if you would show up to my door soon," Faust commented as he took a seat at his desk. The group entered cautiously with Adam closing the door behind them. Faust noticed that their hands were still on their weapons prompting the man to say, "The bouncers won't attack."

"Are they on your payroll or the person playing puppet with you," Dani interrogated.

"Me? A puppet? I would never go so low as that."

"Says the man who gave his soul up."

Faust raised his finger and gave it a wag. "Calling the kettle black, Detective especially with your circumstances," Faust argued, placing his feet up on the desk. His eyes traveled over to Jane, Korsak, Frankie, and Maura. "Bringing mortals in the mix I see."

"Faust, Nightfall is hearing that you're making deals," Jane stepped forward, trying to move things along.

"Oh, I knew the Italian speaks but, she's got that nice rasp."

"Be quiet," Maura said suddenly. Jane gave a small smile, touching Maura's hand lightly in reassurance and appreciation.

Faust smirked, taking the cup of wine from his desk, "The blonde is feisty like my Helen of Troy." Dani reached out, grabbed the wine, and pour it on the carpet. "Hey, that's expensive."

"I wonder how you can afford it because back in the early 2000s, you were flat ass broke so that's your sponsor and some other shit which we will discuss later but, what were trading off with Professor Jamie Peters?"

"What makes you think that I'm-"

"Professor Peters was very meticulous in the note writing. Also, who do you think snitched on you?"

Faust sighed, "Mephistopheles." The old man adjusted himself in his seat, placing his feet back on the ground. "You plan to arrest me?"

"Not yet," Jane pointed.

"So, you're trespassing?"

Dani crossed her arms. She should have figured that Faust would try to use every trick. With her patience wearing thin and she was starting to hear and see Hyde. Perhaps another approach might work, Dani thought. "Faust, people are dead. If you want to hear your rights once more especially if it jeopardizes the greater good of the community," Dani informed.

Faust chuckled, "Greater good? Is that your way of saying that you want to get back to the Council's good graces?"

Dani's eyes darted to Adam. The creature gave a curious expression and questioned, "What does that mean?"

"Ah, ah, ah," Faust raised his hand up. "I won't talk about anything."

"What do you want," Jane questioned, sensing there's an issue.

"What's the deal," Adam added.

Faust gave a toothy grin. "I'll tell you about what I heard about the Council and tell you about the professor if…"

"If what, Faustus," Dani pressed.

Faust stood up, "You explain how you became your other half?"

"Hell no," Dani answered tersely.

"Then I won't tell you about the professor and I's trade off or the Council."

Hearing this, Jane walked toward Dani and pulled her aside. "I get that you have issues with your other half, but we need to find out about that trade off or our case will go cold," Jane reminded. Dani looked away and Jane sighed, "For someone who supposedly cares about this community, you're not showing the priorities of it."

Dani ran her fingers through her hair then looked back at Faust then back at the others.

"Talk first and I'll answer everything," Dani stated.

Faust smiled, "Smart move, detectives."
