Chapter 23.

What comes next?

As the Morning started to rise in the sun, Randy and Wendy troded tiredly through the forest with their cow.

"How long have we been riding again?" Yawned Randy.

"It's 8:00 am." Said Wendy, Holding out a watch.

"I'm hungry." Said Randy.

"What am I supposed to do?" Asked Wendy.

"Uh… Get food?" Asked Randy dumbly.

"We just escaped from a horde of Radical pissed off kids, and you're thinking about food?!"

"Well yeah!"

"... Good point… I'm famished." She said as she heard her tummy rumble.

The two dismounted the cow and looked for a good place to set up camp, Even though they had no camping materials.

"So You know how to set up a fire right?" Asked Randy.

"I guess." Said Wendy.

Soon enough they had managed to set up camp under a Dry Pine tree.

"We probably need to find food soon." Said Wendy. "Ever lived off the land?"

"Uh, Not really." Randy said, shrugging.

Wendy sighed. "I have to do everything, don't I?"

She pulled out a String and picked up a Bent piece of wood, Than fastened together a bow and Arrow.

"What are you gonna use that for?" Asked Randy.

"Hunting, What else?" Asked Wendy iratably, She then grabbed some sticks and Small sharp Rocks to make Arrows out of, While Randy set the Fire.

Wendy ventured further into the woods to look for food, She took cover in the trees to spy on some deer, She found one grazing in a meadow, and Fired an arrow, Killing it, She then dragged the thing back to the Camp that Randy managed to set up.

"Woah… Uh where did you get that?" Asked Randy when he saw the dear.

"I hunted for it." Said Wendy as she dropped the deer and began cutting it open.

"Where did you learn to do this?" Asked Randy.

"I've taken survival classes." Said Wnedy.

"Well good for you my Brothers a hunter." Said Randy.

"Charming." Said Wendy as she finished cutting the deers flash out and began roasting them on the fire with a spit Randy made, Somehow.

"So… Now what do we do?" Asked Randy.

"I don't know…" Said Wendy. "All the kids are probably still trying to recapture all the adults. That should give us enough time to get away from them and… Find Stan."

"Yeah, I've been meaning to ask, How the hell do you know Stan?" Asked Randy.

Wendy gave a mental "Oh god." She knew this would come up again sooner or later.

"Like seriously how do you know him so well?" Asked Randy. "You dated at one point or something?"

"Yes we dated!" Wendy snapped.

"Oh." Said Randy. "Never really mentioned you."

"He Didn't?" Asked Wendy.

"Actually I think he mentioned it a few times or so…" Said Randy thinking. "I think, May have been drunk those times."

Wendy sighed. "Look can we get back on topic, We have to find Stan before Clara and the others do."

"Forget the kids." Said Randy. "What about… I don't know… The Canadian government? If they find out the Garrison was killed here they'll blow us to kingdom come!"

"Isn't it surprising that they haven't so far?" Asked Wendy.

"Yeah, I wonder why." Pondered Randy. "Do we even know where Stan and the others went? They could be anywhere."

"I… Honestly have no clue…" Said Wendy.

"And what about my Wife and Daughter." Randy continued. "Where are they?"

"How should I know?" Asked Wendy. "Ugh! So confused!"

They sat silent for a while.

"You know I almost forgot." Said Wendy. "We still haven't figured out what happened to you the night before I found you."

"Yeah we haven't." Said Randy, rubbing his head. "It's all still a blur, As I said before I remember getting ready to return from work and that's it."

"What happened before you went home." Asked Wendy.

"I was finishing up my work, Late I think, I than Membered a word… I can't really member…"

"Wait!" Said Wendy suddenly." Why do you keep saying "Member?"

"What do you-?" Asked Randy, Than he realized what she meant. "Wait… Member… Yeah, The word, Member that's the word."

"What does it mean?" Asked Wendy.

"I'm not sure." Said Randy. "But I thought I heard it before…"

"Maybe we could find some of the other Adults." Said Wendy. "Perhaps one of them knows the answer."

And so, Randy and Wendy got up and Headed off, Unaware of the pair of Eyes watching them.

"Ratings…"
