"We've arrived at your destination, Mr. Ketchem" the cab driver announced as he pulled Infront of what must have been the biggest building Ash had ever seen the Lumiose Tower had nothing on Naranja Academy.
"Sheesh this place looks like a palace, not a school," Ash said in awe wondering how long it would have taken to build it.
"What do you think Pikachu pretty awesome isn't it"
"Chuu" Pikachu swished his tail back and forth in agreement.
"Mr. Ketchem!" Ash saw an older-looking man with white hair and a fancy suit approaching him.
"I'm Mr. Clavell it's an honor shaking hands with you Mr. Ketchem"
"Oh, thank you I'm flattered but can just call me Ash"
"Ash!" Iris ran over to ash and hugged him.
"How are you doing"
"I'm doing great and excited to teach these students"
"Let's continue this reunion well I show you around shall we" Mr. Clavell gestured for them to follow him inside.
"So, Iris what made you decide to teach students here?" Ash asked.
"Oh well you know I didn't do very well at school myself and I want to help other students who are going through the same thing. What about you"
"I just felt like something new I've been pretty bored sitting around at home and I needed a change of scenery"
"Oh, fiddle sticks not again!" Clavell sprinted surprisingly fast down the hallway to stare at something on the wall.
Ash and Iris ran after Clavell to see what he was looking at it was a spray-painted mural of a rather scantily clothed woman smiling and winking surrounded by a bright golden star.
"Well, that's um certainly an art piece" Iris commented.
"Those darn Team Star hooligans I should have known they would pull something like this I'm gonna have to tell Jacq to install more security cameras"
"Team Star?" Ash asked he had plenty of run-ins with villainous organizations that call themselves teams team Skull, Flare, Plasma, Galactic, Aqua, Magma, and of course the Team Rocket trio who constantly tried to capture Pikachu although he hadn't seen them since they dropped off a congratulatory card after his victory over Leon which he thought was a very nice gesture.
"There is a bunch of rebulb students who call themselves Team Star they do thing's to disrupt us like pulling the fire alarm skipping class the usual hooligan things, but this is just obscene if I find out who did this then I'm giving them 2-week suspension"
"No matter just have to get the janitor to wash it off let's continue the students are expecting you outside"
As they continued down the hallway Ash suddenly heard a pitter-patter of footsteps coming from behind him Ash turned around only to be smacked dead in the face.
"Grookey get back here! you need to stop using Wood Hammer on every-" Ash saw Goh stop dead in his tracks.
"Ash!" Goh ran towards Ash nearly knocking him over and giving ash a big hug lifting him in the air.
"Oh my god Ash it's been so long I'm sorry that I haven't been able to visit you more I've just been so busy with project Mew and catching Pokémon and"
"Goh, Goh it's fine I understand that you've been busy can you please put me down I need to make sure my face isn't bruised"
"Oh, was that what Grookey was hitting sorry about that he learned Wood Hammer a while back and he's been whacking thing none stop"
"It's fine I know he can be a bit rambunctious," Ash said rubbing the sore spot on his head.
"So, Goh what made you decide to come to Naranja academy"
"Oh um, well I was in Kalos when I got the offer and I just felt like coming I've got nothing else to do since Project Mew explorers are on break, so I felt like coming here catching Pokémon can wait"
Ash found his response odd Goh had never been one to put things on hold he was so focused on catching Mew that he wasn't even at Ash's final battle against Leon.
Everyone stopped in front go a large set of doors Clavell swung them open to reveal a cheering mass of students behind a battlefield.
"Students of Naranja academy I would like you to meet Iris, Ash, and Goh there going to me mentoring you this year"
"Oh my god it's the world champions"
"Can I get your guy's autograph"
"Iris you are so pretty what hair product do you use"
"Alright everyone there will be plenty of time after to ask them questions" Clavell laughed.
"First we're going to see these 2 world-class champions in action and display Paldea's unique Terastallizing phenomenon"
"Terastallizing?" Ash questioned.
"Ya, you use these crystals, and it gives your Pokémon a power boost to their type or it can change their type" Iris explained.
"Wow that sounds awesome" Ash's eyes twinkled with excitement.
"Hold this" Clavel gave Ash and Iris each a strange-looking glowing crystal orb.
"It's a Terastall orb you use it to Terastallize"
"Alright now you two take your battle position" Clavell announced Ash and Iris took to opposite sides of the battlefield well the students cheered on.
"Excadrill go!" Irish shouted sending Excadrill out of his Pokeball.
"Dracovish I choose you!" Ash shouted flinging his Pokeball the Fossil Pokémon turned and gave Ash a goofy grin before turning back to face Excadrill.
"Begin!"
"Excadrill time to show off our new move use Iron Head!"
"Excaaa-Drilllll!" Excadrill's horn grew jagged and sharp with a metallic gray glow before Excadrill started spinning mid-air straight at Dracovish.
"We've got a new move too Dracovish Psychic Fangs!"
"Vish! -Vish!" Dracovish's fangs turned bright pink with psychic energy further strengthen by its Strong Jaw ability Dracovish turned downwards and barreled headfirst at Excadrill the two Pokémon met headfirst sending each other backward.
"Excadrill Drill Run" Excadrill spun his body forward at Dracovish.
"Dracovish counter with Fishious Rend" Dracovish's gills glowed bright blue as they swung their head sending Excadrill flying Skyward.
"Excadrill Focus Blast!" Excadrill launched an orb of bright blue energy at Dracovish hitting them in the face Dracovish stumbled back from the hit Dracovish was great at taking direct hits but couldn't take hits from a distance very well.
"Dracovish use Dragon Rush!" Dracovish surrounded its body with blue dragon-shaped energy and charged at Excadrill as he landed hitting Excadrill before he could react sending the mole Pokémon flying back.
"Excadrill Focus Blast again!" "Dracovish use Ice Fang!" as Excadrill launched another Focus Blast Dracovish's fangs glowed with icy-cold energy biting clean through Focus Blast creating a large explosion behind them.
Both Pokémon stood facing each other with the intense look of battle in their eyes.
"Alright Excadrill let's take this a step further it's time to Terastallize"
"You heard them Dracovish let's try this whole Terastallizeing thing for ourselves"
Both Ash and Iris returned their Pokémon to their balls the Tera orbs began to glow a bright white before they threw them back out again. Giant blue and brown crustal shot out of the ground before exploding in a tremendous light Dracovish and Excadrill stood with giant crystals on top of their heads a geyser of water and a chunk of the earth respectively.
"Alright Excadrill use, Drill Run!" Excadrill used Drill Run again but this time sparkles of light glowed around Excadrill as he spun forward.
"Dracovish use Fishious Rend!" Dracovish used Fishious Rend again and the same sparkles glowed around Dracovish.
The two Pokémon collided sending a crescendo of light partials flying everywhere both Pokémon stumbled back to their feet shaken by the impact of the hit.
"Excadrill use Dig!" Excadrill quickly burrowed underground light sparkles shooting out from the ground where he dug.
"Dracovish use Fishious Rend again!" As Excadrill resurfaced Dracovish struck with a Fishious Rend creating another blinding blast of light partials.
When the light dhow cleared, it revealed that both Excadrill and Dracovish fainted on the ground.
"Excadrill and Dracovish are both unable to battle the battle is a tie!"
"What did you think Tulio wasn't that battle incredible?"
"Quack, quack" Quaxly quacked happily in response as he waddled beside Juliana.
After the battle, the students were allowed to go anywhere they wanted for the rest of the day Juliana had decided to check out the Poco Path since it was a fairly easy area for new trainers.
"Quackity! quack!" Quaxly suddenly waddled off quickly over a small hill.
"What the Tulio get back here!" Juliana rushed over the hill after Quaxly to find him running towards Fuecoco.
Quaxly and Fuecoco started conversing with one another as if they already knew each other.
"Miguel how have you been"
"Tulio man it's so long"
"Miguel it's been like a few hours"
"Ah Sí sí just seemed like so long watching that battle"
"So how do my feathers look do they still look good?"
"Sí Tulio your feathers look the same as before"
"I just got to make sure it's not easy keeping them looking this nice"
"So have you seen the weird cat anywhere?"
"No thank Arceus I do not want to listen to her talk about sniffing weird herbs again"
"Miguel get back here I swear I need to start training you" Juliana saw Florian run over the hill
"Oh, hi Juliana sorry about my Fuecoco he's still a bit rowdy"
"Don't worry about it just got him"
"Gwiaaaaaa!" A mysterious earth-shattering cry rang out across the sky.
"What was that?"
"Don't know it sounds like it came from over there" Florian pointed to the lighthouse up the road overlooking the sea.
"Come on let's go check it out" Juliana ran off to find the source of the sound.
"What no Juliana are you crazy anything that sounds like a Garchomp that gargled salt water can't be friendly" Florian ran up behind her.
"Juliana stop, slow down I wasn't very good at running in gym class" Florian panted from behind her Juliana got closer to the cliff she saw two shady-looking people and a Meowth and Wobbuffet
looking over the cliff with evil grins on their faces nearby a strange-looking machine sat at the edge of the cliff well a Pelipper, Bramblin, and Glimmet stood guard.
"Hola!"
"Oh, great James looks like we've got company" a magenta-haired woman complained.
"Well finally a chance to go monologuing again"
"Ya it's been a while since we've got to do this on the twerp," The Meowth said.
"Wait did Meowth just talk!" Florian asked in shock finally catching up with Juliana.
"Prepare for trouble!"
"And make it double!"
"To protect the world from devastation!"
"To unite all peoples within our nation!"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!'
"To extend our reach to the stars above!"
"Jessie!"
"James!"
"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light"
"Surrender now or prepare to fight!"
"Meowth that's right!" Pelipper, Bramblin, and Glimmet all appeared in front of Juliana with a menacing looks in their eyes.
"sosténlo justo ahí!" Nemona appeared from behind Juliana a midday Lycanroc at her side.
"What was that you said about preparing to fight mister!" Nemona snapped, her Lycanroc let out a low growl Bramblin and Glimmet floated back in fear well Pelipper and Wobbuffet stood their ground.
"Yes, fight the strange looking Pokémon down on the beach there" James pointed to the beach below the cliff.
"Now is our chance guys book it!" Jessy yelled as the Team Rocket trio took off running.
"Wait the gacha machine!" Meowth yelled the trio froze in their tracks
"Graaaararrr!" another loud shriek cut through the air suddenly the earth below Juliana gave in sending her and Florian falling down the cliff.
Thankfully before they could hit the ground their Rotom Phones entered flight mode letting the two land on the ground safely.
"The Gacha machine!" Jessy screamed in horror as the machine landed in the water and sunk into the sea.
"Forget the Gacha machine Jessy we need to get them help they could be stuck down there" the Team Rocket Trio took off running down the road.
"Juliana Florian are you okay down there!" Nemona yelled from the top of the cliff.
"Ya were fine how do we get back up"
"Hold on those Team Rocket guys are going for help the only way up is through that cave but it's full of danger there's a pack of Houndour and Houndoom in there and they attack anything that comes into the cave" Nemona pointed to a large gaping hole in the cliff side in the sand around it were numerous paw prints.
"Hey, Juliana check this out" Florian yelled taking off down the beach.
"Florian get back here" Julian stopped dead in her tracks as she saw what Florian was talking about in front of them a large scarlet red reptilian Pokémon with a massive feathery head crest sat sprawled on the beach flanks heaving heavily.
"Grrrarwr" the Pokémon turned its head up opening its bright yellow eyes.
"Poor thing we need to help it Florian you got any ideas"
"Well, my mom packed me this ham sandwich for lunch today maybe that will help him" Florian dug through his bag pulling out a sandwich he carefully put it Infront of the Pokémon who ate it up happily.
"Griar" The Pokémon rose to his feet shaking the sand and water from his feathers before walking away.
"Holy shit that was fast I don't know what my mom must have put in her to do that"
"I think we should name him something" Juliana suggested.
"What no if you name it you attached to"
"I'm gonna call him Don, I think it fits well he seems a lot like a Don"
"It took you like 5 seconds to nickname him and your Quaxly do you always nickname everything that fast" Florian sighed "Ware is he going anyway"
"It looks like he's going inside the cave" Juliana followed after Don into the darkness.
"What Juliana get back here did you not hear what Nemona said there's a pack of rabid dogs in there!"
"Well, if you want to be stuck sitting here hoping a punch of criminals go get you some help then be my guest" Juliana smirked as she followed after Don.
"I'm being serious I'm not going" Florian stamped his foot with a pouty face.
"I'm not joking"
"Ugg fine" Florian stomped after Juliana.
As Juliana and Florian followed Don up the cave towards the surface the sudden sound of paw steps came from behind them.
"Awrf! awrf! awrf! awrf! awrf! awrf! awrf! awrf!" a pack of Houndour appeared and started barking and snarling at them.
"Oh, god oh god what do! what do we do" Florian said panicky eyes beginning to water Florian staggered backward suddenly stumbling over a rock and tripping to the ground.
"Grrrrrrrarrrrrowlll!" With a sudden burst of energy, Don sprung to his back legs leaping forward in front of the two students slamming his fist into the ground with a Brick Break attack the whole cave shook violently sending the Houndour running with yips and squeals.
"Florian! Juliana! look out behind you!" Nemona screamed from the top of the cave.
"Grrrrrr ruff, ruff, grrrr ruff, ruff" with a vicious snarl Juliana turned around to see a Houndoom charging straight at Florian its fangs coated in flames as it charged up a Fire Fang attack.
Florian sat on the ground frozen crying heavily he let out a blood-curdling scream as the Houndoom leaped at him.
With blinding speed, Don intersected the Houndoom the Houndoom bit down on Don's arm, but the Fire Fang didn't seem to do anything Don easily countered with a Brick Break sending the Houndoom off of him.
Before the Houndoom could retaliate Don leaped forward with a Breaking Swipe knocking the Houndoom far back into the cave.
More barking and snarling came from the cave Houndour and Houndoom came charging out of the cave along with various other Dog Pokémon teeth barred and charging up various attacks.
Don's body began to glow bright yellow with a Wild Charge Don barreled into the hoard of Pokémon sending many of them flying.
But more dogs kept coming with moves like Bite Crunch, Play Rough, and the elemental fangs Don fought in a wild frenzy swinging with Breaking Swipe, Brick Break, and Flamethrower fending off the hoard.
Juliana saw a pair of Houndour had made it past Don and were charging straight at her ready for a Bite attack.
"Quaxly Vamos!" Juliana sent out Tulio who easily danced around the Houndour.
"Use Water Gun!" brushing his hair from his face Quaxly let out a stream of water from his bill hitting both the Houndour in the face.
"Great job Tulio now use Pound!" Quaxly fluttered over and struck the Houndour with his wing sending both of them flying over the edge of the cliff.
More Pokémon surrounded Juliana she returned Quaxly to his Pokeball wanting to keep him safe Florian was still on the ground curled and weeping hysterically in the fetal position.
Suddenly Juliana felt her feet get pulled out from under her she saw Don had grabbed her and Florian and was caring them in his arms he sprung upward using the long strands of his head crest like a pair of wings he glided across the cavern sailing out of the cavern exit dropping Juliana and Florian softly onto the grass.
"Florian! Juliana! are you, okay those team Rocket guys went and got me, Mr. Ketchem for you"
"What is that?" Nemona pointed to Don who was now sprawled out on the ground exhausted like when they found him on the beach
Well, that's the fastest that I've ever written a chapter of anything.
This chapter was mainly on establishing characters Florian Juliana and of course Koraidon.
Nemona will get more screen time next chapter and Penny and Arven will get their introduction
Also, yes, the Pokémon will talk with each other sometimes I feel it helps establish their characters a bit more if we can hear them speak.
Also, the pack of Dog Pokémon will be coming back later all I'll say is that a certain Psychic type Bird will be involved heavily in the plot later on...
