"What! I can't believe the Titan Bombirdier is already gone!" Jessie shouted in anger.

"Well maybe if you didn't take so long at the lipstick store in Alfornada then we would have had more time" James' side lugging up various bags.

"But I've been wanting to buy some of Tulip's makeup forever. This was part of the reason I wanted to come to Paldea"

"Um, guys I think you've got your Bombirdier fix" Meowth responded a massive flock of Bombirdier we're perched on the trees around them.

"Alright don't move their visions based on movement"

"Jessie I don't think that's how bird vision works"

"Well, I saw that's how Tyrantrum vision worked and birds came from dinosaurs so the math checks out right?"

"That was also from a movie"

"Would you two stop talking there gonna hear us"

"Alright let's just back up and pretend this didn't happen" Jessie whispered.

"Wobbuffet!" without warning Wobbuffet burst from his Pokeball.

The Bombirdiers were started and took flight aiming at Team Rocket.

"Ah get these things away from me" Jessie shrieked.

"Get it off get it off!" James yelled at the Bombirdiers pecked at his face and grabbed at the bags he was caring.

Then one of the Bombirdier made a fatal mistake.

It grabbed at the bag dropping it to the ground. Breaking the makeup bottle causes shades of red and pink to spill onto the ground.

"Awww not my new makeup do know how much that cost? You're in big trouble now Bombirdier" Jessie yelled scaring away the rest of the Bombirdier.

"Oh boy now he's in for it" Meowth yelled in terror grabbing onto James for support.

Jessie leaped at the Bombirdier scratching it with her "Fury Swipes" before beating it over the head with her "Mega Kick"

"Ugh, Jessie don't you think you should catch the thing that is why you wanted to come here?"

"Oh ya you're right well I guess it's not the Titan Bombirdier but I guess it will have to do" Jessie responded holding up the now unconscious Bombirdier in her hands.

"Well if you ask me it's not much of a fair trade but a Pokémon is a Pokémon" Jessie responded happily as she threw a Pokeball at Bombirdier.

"You know if I had a bottle cap for every time Jessie knocked out a Pokémon by battling it herself I'd have two bottle caps which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice"

"Done" Julianna announced handing over the test to Ms. Tyme.

"Very well you're free to go"

Julianna hurried her way out of the classroom Nashi had already finished his test so all she had to do was head for the Sunflora statue at the center of town.

It was a good way to get her mind off the test.

Because she wasn't confident at all about how she did on it.

The lack of studying had gotten to her. She was confident she still passed but not nearly to the grade she would like

From the center of town, Julianna could see there was a battle going on.

Julianna ran over to see what the battle was about.

"Lapras use Ice Beam! Gallade use Psyco Cut!" a green-haired boy commanded.

"Use Protect!" Nemona commanded a yellow force field formed around her Lycanroc and Goodra absorbing the Ice Beam and Psyco Cut.

"What's happening?" Julianna asked Nashi.

"Rinto wanted to challenge Nemona"

Rinto. Now Julianna remembered where he was from. He is Rika's younger brother who helped out around the league head courters filling out papers and stuff.

That would explain his overly formal attire.

"Now Muddy Water and Rock Slide!" the Muddy Water and Rock Slide easily knocked out the Lapras and Gallade.

"Maldita sea, necesito más entrenamiento!" the boy cursed returning his Pokémon to there Pokeballs.

"Oh por favor Rinto you still knocked out two of my Pokémon that's a lot better than most people do"

"I wouldn't call knocking out your Floragato and Pawmo with six of my Pokémon an achievement you clearly haven't had them very long"

"Ahora don't be rude!"

"I'm not being rude quite the opposite you've trained your Pokémon very well to be that strong in such a short time. I can see why Geeta leaves you in charge when she's not around"

Rinto walked down the street of Artazon leaving Nemona standing there.

"Oh hey, Julianna you finally made it" Nemona shouted in delight.

"Would you just give me a second I got to bounce over to the Pokémon Center got to get my Pokémon healed so there Buena para ir" Nemona ran off leaving Julianna and Nashi by themselves.

"You still need help with your Carbou?" Nashi asked.

"Oh yes he doesn't listen to a word I say"

Julianna threw Charcadet out of his Pokeball the Fire Child Pokémon gave her a death glare and turned away.

"Now Rebelde this is Nashi you better listen to him got it?"

"Char!" Rebelde cried stamping his foot on the ground.

"Hello Carbou I'm Nashi do you want to try some moves?"

"Cadet!" Charcadet threw a Will-O-Wisp in Nashi's face a puff of black smoke revealing Nashi's blackened face.

"Alright," Nashi laughed "Do that again Carbou but on this rock" Nashi pulled out a stone from his backpack its gray surface was marked by black marks likely from his own Pokémon.

"Char!" Charcadet used Clear Smog instead of Will-O-Wisp.

"Rebelde listen to Nashi. It's one thing if you ignore me but Nashi is taking his own time to try and help you"

"No, no at least he used the move on the rock and not my face"

"Good job Carbou" how Nashi was able to stay so positive around Rebelde was impressive.

"Ya estoy de vuelta!" Nemona announced her Floragato running by her side.

"You ready for a battle?" Nemona asked excitedly. Although watching her battle against Rinto made Julianna feel like she was prey caught in Nemona's sight.

"I'll be the referee" Nashi announced excitedly.

Julianna took her place on the battlefield.

She wasn't confident about this. Her team was still undertrained and Charcadet was still not listening to her.

"Alright begin"

"Squawkabilly let's do this!" Nemona shouted sending out a green-colored Squawkabilly.

"Wooper Vamos!"

"Toxic Spikes!"

"Not so fast use Taunt!" Squawkabilly made a gesture with its talon goading Wooper into fighting and preventing her from using Toxic Spikes.

"Alright now use Aerial Ace" Squawkabilly flew forward its body became covered in white light flying forward into Wooper.

"Poison Sting!" Wooper fired a Poison Sting at Squawkabilly poisoning the Parrot Pokémon.

"Squawk!" Squawkabilly's eyes became bright red seemingly enraged.

"Squawkabilly must have its hidden ability Guts poisoning it only makes it stronger" Julianna reasoned. Of course, Nemona would

"Now use Fury Attack!" Squawkabilly flew forward ready to jab Wooper with its beak.

"Poison Tail!" Poison Tail and Fury Attack meet midway Squawkabilly overpowering Wooper after a few strikes interrupted by the poison damage.

"Aerial Ace!"

"Poison Tail" Aerial Ace and Poison Tail collided with each other. When the dust cleared both Wooper and Squawkabilly were still standing.

"Now Fury Attack!" Squawkabilly flew forward.

"Take it then Poison Tail!" Wooper took the Fury Attack grimacing from the powerful blows smacking Squawkabilly away with the Poison Tail.

"Finish it off with Quick Attack!" Squawkabilly shot forward body enveloped in white energy. Squawkabilly hit Wooper before she could react knocking her out.

Squawkabilly landed shakily on the ground stumbling to the ground as another round of poison took over knocking the parrot out.

Ikirinko and Upah are Un-able to battle!" Nashi announced stumbling over his English.

"Meowth let's go!" Nemona sent out an Alolan version of the Scratch Cat Pokémon.

"Charcadet Vamos!"

"Use Fake Out!" Nemona cheered. Meowth flew forward clapping its hands together causing Charcadet to flinch. The move seemed to do extra damage Julianna assumed that Meowth had the technician ability.

Julianna decided to try and command Charcadet.

"Will-O-Wisp!" as expected Charcadet ignored her going for Fire Spin the Meowth dodged it easily.

"Now use Water Pulse!" Meowth fired a pulse of blue water at Charcadet.

Charcadet looked over to Nashi and decided to go for Will-O-Wisp connecting with Meowth as it landed burning it.

"Now use Fake Tears!" Meowth mimicked a crying face creating a dark purple and black aura around Charcadet.

"Fire Spin!" Charcadet ignored her going for Clear Smog hitting Meowth.

"Rebelde Clear Smog works on the opponent, not yourself!" Julianna yelled.

"Now use Snarl!" Meowth let out a loud screech as if ranting about something sending rings of purple energy at Charcadet causing massive damage from the previous Fake Tears.

Charcadet looked at Nashi again going for Fire Spin.

"Dodge it!" Meowth jumped into the air avoiding the Fire Spin.

"Use Water Pulse!" Meowth fired another Water Pulse at Charcadet who jumped ahead to dodge it.

Charcadet went for Fire Spin engulfing Meowth as it landed causing extra damage along with the burn.

"Bueno, ningún problema use Water Pulse!" Meowth fired another Water Pulse at Charcadet who was too slow to dodge as he landed. The ball of water cleared Charcadet fell to the ground drenched and fainted.

"Carbou is unable to battle special Nyarth is the winner!" Nashi announced. If Julianna wasn't so focused on the battle she would find it adorable that Nashi called Alolan Meowth "Special Meowth"

"Quaxwell Vamos!" Tulio did a spin as he exited his Pokeball flicking his hair back to face Meowth.

"Wow, your Quaxly evolved eso es tan cool!" Nemona shouted her voice sounding extremely passionate.

"Use Fake Tears!"

"Aqua Jet!" Quaxwell shot forward hitting Meowth before it could get off the Fake Tears.

"Use Snarl!" Meowth fired more rings of black and purple energy at Quaxwell.

"Low Sweep!" Quaxwell swung forward with an outstretched leg.

"Dodge it then use Water Pulse!" Meowth jumped to dodge the Low Sweep charging up another Water Pulse.

"Wing Attack!" Quaxwell cut through the Water Pulse with Wing Attack bits of water forming around his Wing to strike the Meowth.

Meowth fell to the ground and fainted.

"Special Nyarth is unable to battle Welkamo is the winner!"

"I can't believe it I'm down to my last Pokémon I can't believe it!" Nemona shouted her voice dangerously high.

"Floragato let's go!" Floragato landed on the ground with a flip.

"Aqua Jet!"

"Use Quick Attack!" Aqua Jet and Quick Attack meat mid battlefield knocking both of them back.

"Low Sweep!"

"Counter with U-Turn!" Floragato jumped into the air dodging the Low Sweep kicking Quaxwell with its paw flipping into the air since it didn't have a teammate to switch to.

"Asombrosa now use Magical Leaf!"

"Cut it with Aqua Cutter!" Quaxwell cut through the Magical Leaf with water surrounding his wings like a blade slicing Floragato across the cheek.

"Ay dios mío your Quaxwell learned Aqua Cutter mid-battle! that is so freaking cool!" Nemona practically screamed.

"Aqua Jet!"

"Dodge it with Quick Attack!" Floragato flew forward with Quick Attack jumping over the Aqua Jet.

"Now use Seed Bomb!" Floragato fired several glowing green seeds at Quaxwell creating a large green explosion.

"Aqua Jet!" Quaxwell rushed forward slamming into Floragato.

"Ahora termina esto with U-Turn!"

"Wing Attack!" Wing attack and U-Turn meet midway Floragato overpowering Quaxwell kicking him in the head knocking the duck out.

"Welkamo is unable to battle Nyarote is the winner! Nemona is the winner!"

"Oh, my god that was incredible" Nemona yelled in a state of euphoria almost fainting on the spot. It made Julianna slightly concerned about how into it Nemona seemed.

"It's always so exciting to be knocked down to my last Pokémon, oh, that gets my blood flowing"

"Anyway I would love to stay and chat but there's this battling thing happening in Levincia and I don't want to miss it"

"Wait, Levincia that's where Florian and Cherry went they said they wanted to watch some of Ash's battle moves to use in contests"

"Why don't you come to it could be a good learning experience for you too"

"Nashi would you want to come?"

"Oh, no I'm sure you're very worn out I know you had that very important Math test that I'm sure took a lot out of you right?"

How did she know about our math test?

Nashi just stared wide-eyed at Nemona like he had seen a ghost mortified that Nemona would know something like that.

"Well, I took the test too and I'm still fine why don't we let Nashi decide?"

"Yes, yes N-Ne-Nemona I'll come"

"Alright then," Nemona said overly cheerful "All call us a flying taxi then let's get going"

The time had finally come for Ash to face the biggest challenge in all of Paldea.

Teaching.

When it came to battling he was a natural but something about a bunch of young prying eyes admiring him made him feel off.

He assumed that it was a lack of experience he was so used to being the one admiring champions from up on their podiums that it felt weird being the one admired on the podium.

Because right now it felt weird being stared down by a bunch of students, in the same way, he would have stared at Lance or Steven or Cynthia.

"Alright, students today were going to be demonstrating how different battling strategies can be used to your advantage"

Ash starred down his opponent who sent out a Pyroar.

He knew the Pokémon he would use for the job.

"Buizel I choose you!"

Buizel landed on the battlefield giving Ash a confident look and a thumbs up.

"Use Headbutt!" Pyroar lunged forward head down ready to strike Buizel.

"Alright use Water Gun on the ground!" Buizel sprayed a blast of water on the ground propelling himself upwards out of the way of the Headbutt" Ash could hear the awws of wonder coming from the crowd.

"Now use Sonic Boom!" Buizel unleashed a series of soundwaves from his tail hitting Pyroar in the face.

"Now use Crunch!" Pyroar flew forward catching Buizel in his teeth as he landed.

Ash knew how to get out of this. The same thing had happened against Paul's Drapion.

"Buizel inflate your ring!"

"Buoy!" Buizel nodded inflating the ring around his neck. Pyroar tried to hold on but lost his grip causing Buizel to go flying through the air like a balloon.

"Use Flamethrower!" Pyroar fired a stream of flames from his mouth.

"Alright, students you're gonna want to take notes for this. Buizel Counter Shield!"

Buizel went for Aqua Jet and started spinning around creating pillars of water that shot out in a spiral overpowered Pyroar's Flamethrower and hitting it with several blasts of water.

"Alright now let's finish it off with your Ice Aqua Jet!"

Buizel shot forward with Aqua Jet his fist glowing bright white. The Aqua Jet formed into a solid brick of ice slamming into Pyroar knocking it out.

Ash could hear the cheers of the crowd going wild Buizel had put on a real show.

"Both Ice Aqua Jet and Counter Shield were actually from contests. I learned them from my good friend Dawn because believe it or not Buizel here used to be a contest battler" Ash stroked Buizel's head the water weasel purring in delight.

"Since I've got time before the next battle why don't I show you how to perform that move?" the roar of cheers answered his question.

Well, Ash was showing the inner workings of how Buizel performed the Counter Shield he could tell that the students were having some trouble with it. Which he supposed was reasonable Buizel had been training with Ash for years and had multiple battles to practice his unique style, unlike the students who had only had their Pokémon for a few weeks.

Well, Ash and Buizel were showing the students how to spin he noticed one of the other battles going on in the background.

"Alright, Hitmonchan give it a Close Combat!" that voice sounded familiar like it was someone with an Unova accent that he knew from somewhere that wasn't Unova.

Well, Ash had a free moment he got a look at the battle happening the trainer's Hitmonchan knocking out a Gastrodon with Close Combat.

Of course, that's where he knew the trainer that was Anthony the guy he had met in that Pokémon fighting tournament that he

"Alright, we've arrived at your destination" The flying taxi driver announced as they touched down in Levincia.

Julianna took in the sight it was the first time she had been to Levincia in a few years.

"Ay dios mío Julianna there's Ash come on let's go!" Nemona grabbed Julianna's arm and started running.

"Uh, Nemona I was thinking about seeing Iris I need help with my Charcadet listening to me"

"Oh, alright then that's cool but I want to see some of Ash's battle strategies" Nemona sounded somewhat disappointed.

"I'll go with Julianna" Nashi stammered.

With Nemona gone Julianna and Nashi were free to look around Levincia at their own pace without keeping up with Nemona who was always going a million miles an hour.

"Didn't feel like watching Ash battle?"

"If I'm h-honest she still s-scares me" Nashi replied "I don't know how you battle her"

"Well I guess that it just comes naturally to me I just think of here as any other trainer"

"That's really impressive I could never battle someone like that"

"Thanks for the compliment but it's not that big of a deal she wasn't coming at me with full power like she was with Rinto"

Julianna and Nashi sat down on a bench with a bunch of other students to listen to Iris the Unova champion explaining the importance of the relationship between a Pokémon and its trainer.

"That's still I-Imp-Impressive I saw here OHKO this Levi guys Futachimaru with Spark"

"Is that the same Levi guy that Florian was talking about?"

"Mabey h-he keeps calling me Kantonese even after I said I'm from Johto"

"Does that bother you?"

"Oh, no he said they're all the same anyway no d-difference r-right?"

Yep that was definitely the same Levi Florian said who called him a "Soy boy"

She had never met Levi but she already didn't like him.

"Nashi that's not right you know to just lump four different regions together like that"

"I know but it could be worse his f-friend Bevin calls me h-hentai-boy" Nashi laughed nervously.

Either Nashi was good at hiding his frustration or just innocent to foreign insults.

She didn't even know what that meant she would have to ask Florian about that.

"Now does anybody have any questions?" Iris asked. Julianna raised her hand.

After a few other students, Iris got to Julianna.

"What do you do if you have a Pokémon that doesn't listen to you?"

"Well, my Excadrill use to not listen to me. He thought that I cared more about battling than him. It depends on the individual Pokémon but generally, the best way to heal a relationship with a Pokémon is to get them to trust you and show them that you care about them."

The rest of Ash's battles went pretty easy.

In the quarterfinals, Bayleef easily beat his opponent Dubwool by keeping it away with Vine Wipe and Razor Leaf before finishing it with Body Slam.

In the semifinals which were now Double Battles Noivern and Hawlucha dispatched the opposing Lickilicky and Furfrou with High-Jump-Kick and Acrobatics.

Now it was time for him to face down Anthony.

"Corphish! Swellow! I choose you!"

"Primeape, Hitmonchan let's do this" Ash hesitated slightly that was the Primeape he had given to Anthony back in his early days of traveling Kanto.

"Give them a Close Combat!" Primeape and Hitmonchan ran forward.

"Swellow, take Corphish into the air" Swellow picked up Corphish with its talons avoiding the Close Combat.

"Now Corphish use Bubble Beam!" Corphish fired a beam of bubbles down onto Primeape and Hitmonchan.

"Now Swellow use Aerial Ace!" Swellow let go of Corphish swooping into Hitmonchan with Aerial Ace.

"Corphish use Crabhammer!" Corphish swung its claw forward at Primeape.

"Dodge it!" Primeape flipped over Corphish avoiding the Crabhammer.

"Now give it a Mega Kick!" Primeape delivered a powerful kick sending Corphish flying back.

"Now Hitmonchan give it a Mach Punch!" Hitmonchan punched Swellow at blinding speed sending Swellow Flying back with Corphish.

"Now give it an Ice Punch and Thunder Punch!" Primeape's fist glowed white well Hitmonchan's glowed yellow.

"Swellow use Quick Attack! Corphish use Bubble Beam!" Swellow shot forward with Quick Attack with Corphish's Bubble Beam behind. Swellow flew upward before they hit Hitmonchan and Primeape causing Corphish's Bubble Beam to fly into them.

"Give it a Mach Punch and Close Combat!"

"Corphish hop onto Swellow's back!"

"Now use Quick Attack!" Swellow flew towards Primeape and Hitmonchan.

"Now dive under them" Swellow and Corphish flew under the two fighting types avoiding their attacks.

"Now Crabhammer and Aerial Ace!" Swellow slammed into Primeape with Aerial Ace well Corphish uppercut Hitmonchan with Crabhammer knocking both Pokémon out.

"Jeez, Ash that was pretty impressive" Anthony congratulated.

"Thanks,"

"Prime!" Primeape got up and swiped Ash's hat from his head.

"Hey, Primeape don't go taking my hat like that!"

"Clearly he remembers the last time you saw each other" Anthony laughed.

"So Anthony what brings you to Paldea?"

"I'm here for the running of the Tauros in Cascarrafa it's a big yearly festival"

"Well I guess all see you around" all Ash had to do was get his hat back.

"Primeape please give me my hat back"

"Prime-Ape!" Primeape climbed up a lamppost refusing to give Ash his hat back.

"Primeape, don't make me come up there" Ash threatened "please come down"

Primeape pointed to Anthony's Pokeball and then to Ash.

"What's he saying?"

"I think he wants to come with you"

"Wait really?" Ash asked.

"Ya he's still technically your Pokémon and he's got plenty of training he's a 10-time-fighting type Pokémon champion"

"What do you say Primeape you want to come with me?"

"Prime-ape!" Primeape nodded in approval.

With that, Anthony returned Primeape to his Pokeball and gave it to Ash.
