Chapter 3
*Team Spirit vs the Killer Kitties*
The audience had really anticipated this match. Team Spirit—Starla and Isebella—was always a super friendly duo, especially to their fans. Usually, at every public appearance they make, they show their love to their fans by finding one boy and kissing him on his cheeks at the same time. Meanwhile, the Killer Kitties—Mewlie and Neko Girl—were known for their underhanded tactics and sneaky strategies. The fact that the two were mother and daughter made their teamwork more effective.
When both teams got to the ring, it was decided that Starla would go first for Team Spirit while Neko Girl would go for the Killer Kitties. Starla went to her friend for some good luck while the announcer called to the crowd.
"In the red corner, Isebella and Starla, Team Spirit! And in the blue corner, Mewlie and Neko Girl, the Killer Kitties! For all we know, ladies and gentlemen, this match could lead to a tag team championship match in the future, so a lot could be riding on this!"
"Remember," Isebella said, "Don't fall for anything those pussycats try to throw at you. Just listen to me so I can warn you of what they do."
"That's why you're my BFF." Starla smiled.
Isebella looked back at the ring and gasped with a shocked smile on her face. "Starla, look…"
Her warning came too late. Neko Girl had dropkicked Starla's back making her collide with Isebella making her fall off the apron. Isebella fell off and hit her head on the barricade becoming only semi-conscious. Neko Girl then hit Starla with a double-knee backbreaker. When she got back up, the referee confronted her.
"What was that?"
"What? Did the bell not ring? I thought for sure it did." Neko Girl said obviously feigning ignorance. "Well, better start the match so we can get this started."
Without any argument, the referee waved her hand to the bellringer.
DING! DING!
Neko Girl sat on Starla's back and pulled her head back in a camel clutch. Starla's neck and body strained at the painful submission hold. Neko Girl laughed at her pig-tailed opponent's pain. Meanwhile, outside the ring, Isebella struggled to get back up on her feet.
Neko Girl lifted Starla back on her feet and threw her at the corner where Mewlie waited. Neko Girl went to Starla and slapped her across the face. She then tagged her mother in and they switched places. Mewlie punched Starla in the stomach before tagging Neko Girl back in.
The Killer Kitties traded attacks on Starla and tags for each other until the referee decided it was enough. She stopped the onslaught while Mewlie was the legal one. At the same time, Isebella finally managed to regain her senses and return to her corner. Starla found her opportunity and made a mad dash to her partner. She managed to make the tag and Isebella jumped into the ring toward Mewlie. Isebella and Mewlie caught each other in a collar-and-elbow tie-up struggling for control.
"You'll pay for that sneak attack, Mewlie." Isebella said.
"That's the law of the jungle, little mouse." Mewlie said. "And his cougar's gonna tear you apart!"
"Not today!" Isebella managed to flip backwards and dropkick Mewlie backward.
Isebella bounced off the roped and dropkicked Mewlie again. Mewlie fell on her back while Isebella jumped on top of a neutral corner and jumped off landing an elbow drop on the older cat. She hooked her legs for the referee to count.
"1… 2…"
Mewlie kicked out. Isebella lifted Mewlie back up, but the cat lady countered by dropping her in a stunner. Dazed, Isebella took a few steps backwards, but she came back to her senses as she felt a sharp pain crawl down her back. She realized that she was close enough to Neko Girl for her to rake her claw-like fingernails down her back.
Mewlie put Isebella in a side headlock and ran forward before dropping her in a bulldog. She then trapped her in a figure-four leglock. Isebella screamed at the pain, but she used her arms to crawl backwards to her team's corner. Eventually, she was close enough to tag Starla in. Starla quickly climbed up the turnbuckle and performed a body splash on Mewlie making her let go of Isebella.
Starla brought Mewlie up on one knee and kicked her with a shining wizard. Unfortunately, Mewlie was close enough for her to tag in her daughter. Neko Girl jumped into the ring and confronted the girl she cheap shot before the match began.
"Ready for round two, sweetie?" Neko Girl asked.
"Bring it on, Garfield!" Starla replied.
Starla and Neko Girl circled each other waiting for the right time to pounce. Eventually, Neko did… literally. She knelt down in a crouching position and then leaped forward like a cat pouncing its prey. Her bounce strike was her signature move.
Starla was tackled to the ropes, and Neko Girl got up to choke her on the bottom rope with her foot. The referee made her let go, but while the two of them were arguing, Mewlie went to grab Starla's head and grind it against the apron. Thankfully for Starla, Isebella circled the ring and tackled Mewlie to the floor.
Neko Girl grabbed Starla by the shoulders and flipped her to her hands and knees. She then slipped her arms under hers in a full nelson. What the referee didn't see was that under Starla's hair, Neko Girl's claws were digging into the back of her neck for extra pain. The referee asked if Starla gave up, but Starla refused.
"Starla, do you give up?" the referee asked.
"She does!" Neko Girl insisted, but the ref knew she had to hear it from Starla's mouth.
"I won't give up!" Starla answered.
Starla opened her eyes to her corner and saw her friend getting back up and cheering her on. That gave Starla the strength she needed to struggle until she managed to slip out of the full nelson. Starla ran to her corner and tagged in her partner. They both nodded and both approached Neko Girl.
Team Spirit each grabbed Neko Girl by her wrists and launched her to the ropes. They both ran to bounce off the other ropes. Right when they met at the center of the ring, Team Spirit sent dropkicks to Neko Girl's face sending her flying backwards. Starla returned to her corner while Isebella hooked Neko Girl's leg for the pin.
"1… 2… 3!"
DING! DING!
"Here are your winners, Isebella and Starla, Team Spirit! Way to go, you two!"
The crowd cheered as the energetic teenagers celebrated their win holding each other's arms up. They then performed a short dance to please the crowd. Meanwhile, Mewlie and Neko Girl left the ring in grumbles and anger.
"Hey, Isebella," Starla said, "What do you say tomorrow, we convince Ms. Rogue to let us challenge the Daughters of Darkness for the tag team title?"
"It's a date!" Isebella agreed. The two of them laughed.
*Queen Bee vs Kaito Marx*
It was the final match of the night. The ace of Xtrema, Queen Bee, had challenged the league's jobber and only male contender, Kaito Marx, to a stipulation match. Whoever loses has to do whatever one thing the winner commands of them. Obviously, people would expect Queen Bee to win, but the ace herself added the stipulation that she'd start off the match with her hands tied behind her back. Not only that, she'd also let him make the first move. This raises the odds a bit in Kaito's favor.
"In the red corner, the Ace of Xtrema and the Xtrema Champion, Queen Bee! And in the blue corner, Kaito Marx! Will Kaito manage to get his first win with this handicap, or will Queen Bee stand strong regardless?"
Kaito Marx waited in his corner while the referee tied the ropes tightly around Queen Bee's wrists. The ace gave him a playful wink which made him nervous. When she was done, the referee signaled for the bell.
DING! DING!
Kaito and Queen Bee met up in the center of the ring. They both knew Kaito was free to make the first move, and he took good advantage of that. He tackled Bee and straddled her. He grabbed her legs and went for an early pin. However, the referee wouldn't count because Bee raised her arms up her back to keep her shoulders from laying down on the mat.
"Good try." Queen Bee said. "But now, it's my turn."
Since Kaito had already had her legs up, it was easy for her to wrap them around his head and throw him off of her. They both stood on their feet and charged at each other. Queen Bee tried to kick him, but Kaito managed to duck out of the way and past her. Bee looked back at him with a smile. Bee went to kick him again, and just like last time, Kaito dodged it. Only this time, Bee gave a backwards kick that sent Kaito backwards. Queen Bee then leaped forward to drop her body on his shoulders. She laid there waiting for the referee.
"1… 2…"
Kaito managed to kick out and counter with a reverse bearhug/body scissors combo. He was grappling for total control on the mat. This move caught the crowd by surprise as they never saw him counter like that before.
"Got you now, Bee." Kaito said as he continued to squeeze. "Ready to throw in the towel?"
"Hardly." Queen Bee responded. "After all, I only promised to start the match tied up, remember?"
Kaito felt Queen Bee's fingers brushing across is abdomen. He took a peek down and saw her fingers slipping out of the ropes. He was frightened and tried to hold her even harder. After a minute, Queen Bee managed to escape the hold and removing her ropes in the process. Kaito stared in fear as Queen Bee stood back up rubbing her wrists.
"Now, the real fun begins."
Even though Kaito was scared, he'd never back down from a match even if the odds were against him. He stood back up and gave a boxer's stance that made the crowd cheer more and Queen Bee smile.
"That's the spirit."
Queen Bee immediately went to send three punches to Kaito. He managed to block the first two, but the third one got him square in the gut. She wrapped her arms around his waist and lifted him up. She dropped him in a powerbomb after when the referee came in.
"1… 2…"
By some miracle, Kaito managed to kick out. Queen Bee pinned his shoulders again, but like before, Kaito broke out. Queen Bee decided to use a different tactic. She rolled Kaito's back over her knees while her back was on the floor. She held him there in a bow and arrow hold. Kaito wanted to reach for the ropes to break the hold, but they were in the center of the ring and he couldn't reach them.
"Give up?" the referee asked.
"No!" Kaito shouted.
Kaito struggled to escape by rolling side to side. Eventually, much to everyone's surprise, Kaito managed to roll off of Queen Bee's knees and fall over her shoulders. The referee went in to count.
"1… 2…"
Queen Bee kicked out, but when she did, Kaito noticed something that sparked inside of him. The crowd was actually cheering for him to do his best. He had never heard such praise before. But while he was distracted, Queen Bee wrapped her arms around his chest and toss him in a German suplex. She got back up to look down at her opponent.
"Don't forget you're still in a match, handsome." Queen Bee stated. "Just for that, I'm ending this match now."
She grabbed Kaito's ankles and crossed them around her leg. She then turned flipping Kaito on his tomach. He was stuck in her signature sharpshooter hold. Queen Bee pulled at his legs making him grunt in great pain. The referee knelt down to the male wrestler who raised his hand and tapped out.
DING! DING!
"Here is your winner, Queen Bee! And now, the champion will cash in her command! Please note that Sayuri Rogue has given all commands her okay, so no complaining about what this might be!"
Queen Bee offered her hand and helped Kaito return to his feet. To show her sportsmanship, she raised his wrists up along with hers letting the crowd cheer for the both of them. She then turned towards him while accepting a microphone.
"And now, for my reward." Queen Bee said. Kaito was nervous of what it was going to be. "Kaito Marx… I want you…" The crowd was at the edge of their seats in anticipation. "TO BE MY BOYFRIEND!"
…
…
The crowd sent a major uproar in surprise and confusion. Even Kaito was befuddled. He had imagined a lot of things, but not this. Queen Bee grabbed his wrist and pulled him over the ramp and backstage.
Queen Bee made sure the locker room was empty before dragging Kaito in. There were no other wrestlers, no interviewers, no cameras, so they could talk freely.
"Uh, Bee," Kaito said nervously, "Not that I'm complaining, but…"
"You're wondering why I wanted you to be my boyfriend." Queen Bee finished. "Well, that's a bit complicated. You see, I've had my eye on you for a while. Not sure why, but even with your losing streak, you never give up your conviction. That sort of thing really has my eye. Which is why I'll also want to train you to be better. Just don't tell anyone."
"Why not?" Kaito asked.
"Because if the public knew I did all this just to date you, it'd really unbalance my whole tweener rep, especially with that display of sportsmanship I showed earlier. So tomorrow, I'll go to the newspaper and give them a different story. I'll say that I'd like you to be in my corner and help me out if I'm ever in a bind."
"You sure?" Kaito asked. "That sounds needlessly complicated."
"Look at it this way." Queen Bee said. "My rivals will accuse me of dating you just to have someone to help me win, and I won't confirm or deny anything. Also, the public will think I'm dating you just for my image, but the two of us will know the real truth."
"So I'm going to be your boyfriend for real, but everyone else will think it's a heel move." Kaito said. "In the meantime, I get the ace of Xtrema for a girlfriend. That'd be really nice."
"Glad you see it my way." Queen Bee said. "Of course, I will need you to be in my corner to keep up appearances, especially when against N-Bomb."
"Right." Kaito said.
"By the way," Queen Bee said. "I never knew. What would you have asked of me if you won?"
"Oh." Kaito said blushing a bit. "Honestly, I was going to ask you to let me selfie a victory pose over you so I could send it to my family."
"Really?"
"It would be a big accomplishment for me since I have a lot to live up to. My mom and dad are a great mix tag team, and my sister, Miyako, is much more into wrestlers with a winning streak than me. Which is why she's such a big fan of Tiger the Great. She's basing her wrestling style after him."
"Well, I'll tell you what, Kaito. If you ever beat me in a match, then we'll talk about that selfie." Queen Bee gave a playful wink.
Kaito was excited. Not only was he going to date the top woman in Xtrema, but she was going to help him train to break out of his jobber status. This would be perfect.
Back in the ring, Sayuri Rogue managed to get the crowd quiet enough for her to make her announcement.
"Well, this has certainly been an eventful night! Accomplishments have been fulfilled! Expectations have been shattered! And everyone is going home happy! Thank you and I'll see you all next time!"
Author's Note: And that's the end of my first match card. I have to say, I am really proud of this story.
