Chapter 37 (Christmas Special)
*Scarlette vs Mewlie*
The two wrestlers, Scarlette and Mewlie, made their way into the ring. The red masked wrestler shot a glare at the smirking Queen of Catfights. Meanwhile, a steel cage wall lowered and locked itself around the ring. The wall was covered with an assortment of weapons such as baseball bats, kendo sticks, steel hairs, stapler guns, bowling balls, fire extinguishers, trash can lids, and many more.
Sayuri Rogue stood outside the ring nodding to her fans before presenting the weapons-filled cage. "He's making a list. He's checking it twice. Tonight, it's a battle between naughty and nice. Scarlette, a well-known face, will square off against Mewlie, a proud heel. Though it may take place in a steel cage, escape is not a winning condition. Only pins and submissions. Disqualifications count too, but only in Mewlie's favor. As a naughty heel, she is free to use any of the weapons on the cage wall. If Scarlette uses any of them, however, she loses by disqualification. Any question? …No? Then let's start this match!
DING! DING!
"This will be fun." Mewlie said. "You might as well let me win." She went to deliver a hard slap, but Scarlette managed to block it with her arm.
"Not a chance." Scarlette replied before kicking Mewlie in the stomach. She grabbed her head and dropped her with a facebuster. She rolled her up and hooked her leg for an early pin.
1…
Mewlie reversed the pin with a roll-up.
1.. 2…
Scarlette jerked her legs out of the pin and rolled backward. She ran for a dropkick, but Mewlie sidestepped, letting her fall on her back. She quickly rolled Scarlette on her stomach and raked her claws down her back. As Scarlette yelled and held onto her back, Mewlie looked around the cell wall for a weapon. She grinned as she piked up a kendo stick.
Mewlie sat herself down on Scarlette's back and used the kendo stick to apply leverage in a camel clutch. Scarlette choked with the bamboo pressing on her neck. After a minute, Mewlie released it and threw the kendo stick away. She then turned herself around and applied a Boston crab. To make it even more painful Mewlie dug her claws into Scarlette's thighs. Scarlette screamed making Mewlie laugh.
"Guess this proves that nice girls finish last." Mewlie taunted.
"Scarlette, do you give up?" the referee asked from outside of the cage.
"NO!"
Mewlie shrugged. "Too bad. Well, at least I can use as many of these toys as I like."
She let go to browse around some more, but Scarlette used this chance to hook her ankles around Mewlie's and pull her aside. The Queen of Catfights fell on her face while Scarlette stood back up. She climbed up the turnbuckle while hooking her hands on the cage wall. She planted her feet on the wall just as Mewlie got back up. She pushed herself off of the wall to slingshot into Mewlie. She speared her across the ring earning praise from the fans.
Scarlette grabbed Mewlie's head and landed a few forearm smacks before the Queen of Catfights decided she had enough. She stopped the last attack and countered by wrapping her legs around Scarlette's neck and throwing her off. Mewlie then sat right on Scarlette's chest while grabbing two sets of brass knuckles.
"I'd love to break it to you, so I'll say it." Mewlie said as she began punching Scarlette in the face with her brass knuckles. "You won't be winning. If you had joined us bad girls, you would've had a chance here. But no. Instead, I'll have to play the Grinch and steal Christmas from you and every other bitch in the roster. All you'll get are some new scratch marks from me all over your body. That'll put the 'scar' in 'Scarlette'."
With one last punch winded up, Mewlie planned to knock Scarlette out for the count. Unfortunately for her, the red wrestler managed to grab her wrist and counterpunch her across the face pushing her off. Scarlette got back up and dropkicked Mewlie across the ring to the corner.
"You think you can steal Christmas like that without a fight?" Scarlette asked as she began to close in. Mewlie grabbed a handful of chains and threw them, but Scarlette knocked them aside. Mewlie took a trash can lid and threw it like a frisbee, but Scarlette knocked it away too. Pressing iron. Bowling ball. A can of mace (yeah, she tried to throw it instead of spraying it). None of it was even fazing her, and Mewlie was nervous. "Well, not to sound cheesy, but Christmas is not yours to take. It belongs to everyone who deserves it! For cruel people like you, all you'll get are stockings full of coal."
"I…" Mewlie said nervously. "I'm not afraid of you."
"Liar."
Scarlette bombarded Mewlie with an assortment of punches and kicks before eventually throwing her wit ha monkey flip. She then bounced off the ropes and landing an arm drop on her neck. She transitioned that into her Scarlette Lock. Mewlie screamed as she tried to scratch her escape, but Scarlette wouldn't let go.
"Here are your Ghosts of Christmas!" Scarlette shouted. "Past: you ticked me off!" And just like that, Mewlie tapped her hand on Scarlette's arm. "Present: you're tapping out!"
DING-DING!
Scarlette let go and looked down at her losing opponent while the referee threw her sweater into the cage. "And future: I'm going to be MVP tonight."
Sayuri Rogue chuckled as she approached the cage. "Well, it looks like nice dominates Santa's list tonight! Mewlie had a great advantage, but Scarlette defended the spirit of Christmas and won the match! A big hand for our believer! Now, onto the next match."
*Calypso vs Willow Powell*
The crowd was directed to a large, frozen pool the size of a football field. There was a flagpole erected at the center. At the far end were the two competitors: Willow Powell and Calypso. They both stretched and practiced their balance on the ice while Sayuri Rogue explained the next match.
"This match is called Thin Ice. The match is as follows: Calypso and Willow Powell will race to the center of the lake where we've set up a metal flagpole. The first one to touch the flagpole wins. But be warned. Some areas of the lake have thin ice and are easy to break through. If one of the girls falls into the water, they are disqualified. If both of our graceful wrestlers fall into the water, the match is considered no contest. Hope you ladies are ready!"
DING-DING!
Willow started the match immediately with a high kick to Calypso's face. While she was on the ground, Willow started to slide her feet across the ice. Calypso recovered and followed her. Calypso managed to shoulder-tackle Willow away from the flagpole and apply a crossface chickenwing for a few seconds. Soon, she let go, pushed Willow away with her legs, and proceeded to head to the center. But when she started to approach, she noticed the ice getting more steep. She fell backwards after the sudden trip.
"Oh, yeah." Sayuri chuckle. "Forgot to mention we installed a hill where the flagpole is just to make it a bit more challenging. I mean, any moron can get to a flagpole."
Calypso started to pick herself up, but stopped when she heard a crack. She realized she was right on top of thin ice.
"Oh, man. Not to worry. If I use all four of my limbs rather than just stand up, my balance would be better and the ice will be less likely to break."
Calypso rolled herself onto her stomach and raised herself by her arms and knees. She slowly exited the thin ice spot when suddenly, Willow Powell returned and pulled her away from it. The reason she did that was to she could grab Calypso's hair and strike her face with a series of hard left crosses.
"You Brazilian bitch! You zink you can best moi in grace! Don't make me laugh!"
Willow then grabbed both of Calypso's legs before applying the figure four leglock for a minute. She made it even more painful by transitioning it into a figure-eight. Calypso yelled trying to find a way to escape, but she couldn't. There was no rope to grab for a break. The pain was so much, Calypso tapped the ice, but submissions don't count as a loss in this match, so Willow wouldn't let go.
After a minute, Willow released Calypso before stomping once at her knee. She turned to get to the flagpole, but stopped herself when she noticed the thin ice spot. She was careful enough to slowly go around it, but while she did that, Calypso weakly returned to her feet. When Willow returned to thick ice just fifteen feet from the pole, Calypso jumped and wrapped her legs around Willow's head throwing her with a sunset flip.
Calypso turned to the flagpole when she noticed she was back on the thin ice spot. She slowly lowered herself on her hands and feet when Willow scooted herself close enough. She raised her foot above the thin ice spot where Calypso was and slammed it down. The dancer was shocked when the ice began to crack again. Willow kicked the ice again. Calypso tried to crawl faster, but the pain in her leg made her hesitate. Willow kicked the ice a third time which made it break under Calypso. The Brazilian dropped right into the cold water while Willow stood up just ten feet away from the flagpole.
"Well, it looks like we know who's superior now." Willow taunted. "Have fun in ze cold."
But Calypso wasn't just going to take that. As soon as Willow turned around, she reached out to grab the starlet by her ankles. She was caught by surprise as she was pulled and dragged into the water with her.
DING-DING!
The two of them emerged from the water and was approached by two men with ugly Christmas sweaters. Sayuri Rogue stood at the flagpole with her announcement.
"Well, that was an unexpected outcome. It appears that neither Calypso nor Willow Powell were graceful enough to get to the flagpole. Which means that this match resulted in no contest."
"Excuse moi!" Willow called out. She held out her Christmas sweater like it was a dirty, old shoe. "I am not wearing zis grotesque garment."
"The sweater or your job." Sayuri threatened. Willow growled before reluctantly putting it on right at the same time as Calypso. "Well, onto the next match then!"
*Team Spirit vs Carly X and Thunder Mana*
There was a large area at the mall that was set up like a snow field. At the far ends of the field are two colorful castles with nutcracker statues at guard posts. In one castle, Team Spirit stood next to a blue flag with the Xtrema logo on it. In the other, Carly X and Thunder Mana were with an identical flag, but with a red color rather than blue.
"Here we are, everyone!" Sayuri announced. "This is an homage to the classic game, capture the flag. Whoever can claim both flags in their own castle wins the game! Ready… BEGIN!"
DING-DING!
Carly X and Thunder Mana agreed to their plan: Carly would go and get the flag while Thunder Mana stayed to guard theirs. The Stylish Tiger made a mad dash to the middle of the field where she ran into both members of Team Spirit.
"Where's Mana?" Isebella asked.
"Wouldn't you like to know?"
"Isebella," her partner cried out, "Thunder mana must be guarding their flag."
"That makes things harder."
"Hey!" Carly shouted. "If you two are going to keep ignoring me, I'm going to deck you in the halls!"
Carly charged in to tackle the two of them, but the numbers game got her pushed back into the snow. Team Spirit jumped on Carly and held her down. Carly struggled to escape, but she couldn't.
"Isebella, we're gonna have to split up!" Starla shouted. "I'll stay and handle Carly! You go and get her flag!"
"Me, against Thunder Mana? You must be joking!"
"Fine! We'll knock her out together before double-teaming Mana!"
The two of them nodded before moving themselves. Starla wrapped her arms around Carly's head in an STF while Isebella grabbed her legs for a Boston crab. They both worked together to bend Carly in ways beyond her limits. The Stylish Tiger was about to pass out.
Suddenly, Starla's hair was pulled and Isebella was grabbed by her throat. They were lifted off of the recovering Carly X by Thunder Mana, who then threw them aside. She helped her partner back on her feet.
"I thought you were gonna stay at the flag." Carly said.
"That's a strange way of saying 'thank you'." Mana said.
They both turned to Team Spirit and charged at them. Isebella was constantly trying to dodge Thunder Mana's grabs while their partners grappled with each other in the snow. Starla sent a strong dropkick sending Carly to ache around in the snow.
Starla joined her partner by jumping on Thunder Mana's back and locking in a sleeper hold. She was brought to her knees leaving Isebella the opportunity to send consistent kicks to her chest. Eventually, Thunder Mana managed to grab Isebella's chest and push her away. She then grabbed Starla's head from behind and flipped her over her shoulder.
"Gah!" Isebella shouted. "Starla, where's Carly?"
"I left her sore in the snow." Starla said. "We can…"
The two of them turned and noticed that Carly X wasn't laying on her back in the snow anymore. She wasn't anywhere to be found.
"THE FLAG!" they both gasped at once.
Team Spirit rolled to their sides in different directions while getting back up. Thunder Mana was taken aback by their maneuver and couldn't react to the hich kicks they both delivered to the sides of her head at once. Team Spirit then struck Thunder Mana back with a double dropkick.
"I'll secure our flag. You take theirs." Isebella said.
"Got it." Starla agreed as she ran to Carly and Mana's fortress
Isebella ran to her own castle and didn't find any sign of Carly X or Team Spirit's blue flag. She entered the gateway when suddenly, something hit her in the stomach. It was Carly X who swung the flag the just grabbed like a baseball bat. With Isebella down, the Stylish Tiger proceeded to run across to her own castle's direction. On the way, she noticed Starla who was leaving the castle gate with the red flag in her hands.
"Drop that flag!" Carly demanded.
"Or what?" Starla asked.
"Or this!"
Carly immediately swung her flagpole, which Starla blocked with hers. What followed was an exchange of strikes with their flagpoles like a battle of bo staffs. The two ended it with a test of strength with each other's flagpoles. They pressed them both together and pushed with all their might.
Meanwhile, Thunder Mana got up recovering from the dropkick when she noticed the flagpole battle. She ran on over and rammed her elbow to Starla's back. She dropped the flag while Mana picked it back up.
"Wanna do the honors?" she asked.
"Duh." Carly replied.
They returned back to their castle. Thunder Mana first planted the flag back to where it was. Carly X began to plant her stolen flag when Starla began to get back up while Isebella ran from the field. Thunder Mana noticed it and ran toward them. She scooped the unsuspecting Starla and tossed her to her friend knocking them both back while Carly X planted the second flag to the ground.
DING-DING!
Sayuri Rogue emerged from the crowd and shook hands with the winning team. "Congratulations, Carly X and Thunder Mana! You won this game of capture the flag! You two showed impressive teamwork and watching each other's backs! Team Spirit, get to the staff for your sweaters! Better luck next year! Now, onto the next match!"
Author's Note: Admittedly, I'm not sure if I handled that match between Willow Powell and Calypso well enough. It seemed like a good idea when I first thought up about it, but as I was writing, I found myself limited to the details. I don't think I'll be doing that again next year. The other two, I'm sure I did okay in.
That's the second part of my Christmas Special done. Expect the last one on Christmas Eve.
Any and all comments are welcome.
