A/N: Hey guys! Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year.

I wanted to upload on Christmas or New Year but I had exams on the 6th and 7th so here is the next bit…

Hope you all enjoy and once again thank you all for staying with this story!

Jace Wayland

We flew through the portal and landed back in the room with all the cages.

I had twisted my body so I took most of the fall for Lissa. She rolled off of me and got up. She offered her hand to me, helping me off the ground. I checked her for any injuries and she did the same to me. After reassuring one another that we were safe and uninjured, I turned my ire to Valentine.

"You set me up to kill that vampire." I accused.

He got up from the ground, retorting, "You killed her because it was the right thing to do." He breathed in deeply, "The world's a safer place without that thing wreaking havoc." he pulled the arrow from his shoulder, causing Lissa to flinch in disgust, "Would you rather turn her over to the Clave to stand trial?"

"That is my job!" I argued.

"The Law is hard, but it is…" I heard Lissa softly say and the three of us finished off her sentence "…The Law."

"Yet the Clave does nothing," he jabbed a finger at us accusingly, "nothing to enforce that. Downworlders multiply with a bite or a scratch, while our numbers… dwindle year…" he used his stele to draw a healing rune, "…after year. If we don't do something, a den-like that one is gonna be on every corner on every street in the world. This is the only way."

"You're wrong." I stared at him resolutely as I walked past him.

His voice followed me, "Like I was wrong about your mother?" I stopped and spun around to look at him, "Look, I know you even better than you know yourself."

"You…" I walked back up to him so we were face-to-face, "You don't know me at all."

He just shook his head, "You saved my life. You could've Portaled me anywhere, handed me over to the Clave in Idris, but did you?" I looked away in shame, "No, because deep down inside, you know that I'm right."

He moved to walk away but Lissa's voice stopped him.

"You saved my life too." he stopped walking but didn't turn around. "Thanks." he moved away again. I turned to her incredulously but she just winked and placed her finger on her lips before leading me back to our rooms.

I don't know why I'm here again but I was in the room with the cages again. I watched as an unknown man held the mortal cup in front of a row of healthy men and women. We'd found out earlier on in the week that other people could use the cup. After the first night, Lissa had refused to make more shadowhunters. Valentine had threatened to kill more people by turning more potential shadowhunters, only to find out they would survive. Valentine had tortured the secret from Lissa. I can still hear her screams when I shut my eyes. The shadowhunters made wouldn't be as strong as the ones Lissa could make, nor were they as healthy. If Lissa creates them, there's a 75%-90% chance of them surviving. But if someone else used the cup, the chance of surviving is reduced to 25% or lower. It's why so many people have died this week.

I walked around the clattering cages to a young shadowhunter who was glaring at one of the cages.

"If you're thinking of trying to escape… don't. The wards around this ship would fry you like an egg." I warned him.

He turned his head to acknowledge him, "I want to be here." he turned away again, "I can't wait to get out and start killing Downworlders."

"Trust me." I cut him off, "It's not as glorious as you think."

"Screw glory." he walked to stand in front of the cage, "I want justice." he turned back to me, "I lost my father 'cause of these monsters."

I turned my gaze away from him, in discomfort, "I'm sorry."

He stoically said, "Valentine said if the Clave did their job, he'd still be alive right now."

I stared bug-eyed at him, "Valentine…"

Speak of the devil and he shall appear.

"I see you've met Jeremy," he said as a greeting. "The others are gearing up for tonight's mission. You should get ready."

The shadowhunter - Jeremy nodded but I just looked at them suspiciously, "Mission?"

"Part of our first phase. While we're increasing in numbers, we're also finding suitable Downworlders to hold on to for research." I felt that kid stare at me, "You should join them. They could use a good leader like you."

"I don't lead hunts for innocent Downworlders," I said seriously as I stared them both down.

"Innocent?" he turned to face me, "Like that vamp, Maria, who almost killed you? Don't be naive, Jonathan." he stepped closer towards me as the kid stared on, "See, you were trained to see Downworlders as your allies and that I'm your worst enemy. But I'm not asking you to do this for me. I'm asking for humanity."

I stepped towards him, "The answer's no." before walking past them to try and find Lis.

I haven't seen her all day. Where is she? And what has she been doing?

Alec Lightwood

"We should look at the aerial drones," I ordered.

My sister sighed bedside me, "We've already done that."

"So we do it again." I retorted quietly, "Maybe we didn't look close enough."

She sighed again, "Alec, I know you're upset, but this is just…"

"You don't know, Izzy." we stopped walking and I looked her in the eye as I sighed heavily, "I promised to protect her and she needs him."

She nodded sadly, "I know."

We continued our walk back to our rooms but a voice stopped us.

Jocelyn.

"Alec, Isabelle." we spun around to see that she was holding an Adamas stone. "I have a way."

I looked at the stone warily, "How did you get that? Only the Iron Sisters have access to Adamas."

"Luke's mother - Lily's grandmother - is an Iron Sister." she turned her gaze to me, "She told him about an ancient way to communicate through the parabatai bond. Through their linked spirits. I know you can summon her astral form."

I nodded my head in understanding as I realised what she was doing. "Oh, I see." I pointed at her, "So you want me to help you find your adoptive daughter, so you can try and kill her parabatai again?" I chuckled darkly before turning and walking away from her.

"No." she followed after me. "I want to find Lily and Clary," she said. We gave her confused looks and she explained, "She was kidnapped by Dot." She probably went willingly. I looked away from her as Izzy gasped in shock, "Valentine must be behind this."

"Why should we trust you?" I asked.

She looked down, "Look, I know how much your brother means to you." she seemed on the verge of tears, "Lily and Clary means just as much to me."

"Her name is Alicia now," I said sharply, causing her to nod sadly in acceptance.

She continued, "And I will do anything to get her- them back."

I saw Izzy turn towards me, "What other choice do we have?"

Jace Wayland

I was stood on the deck again, looking out into the ocean. Where are you, Lissa? I can't find you…

"Jace?" I heard a feminine voice call before they grabbed my shoulder. It sounds like Clary. It's probably one of his illusions again. The girl gasped as I whacked her arm away, causing them to spin around. I held whoever it was against my chest, one arm holding her arm, and the other around its neck.

"I've had enough of your mind games."

She turned her head to look me in the eye, "It's me."

I nodded sarcastically, "Right." before going to strangle her again.

"Jace, it's me. I swear." she looked me in the eye and tried to make me believe her. She was giving me the same look the real Clary always used to give me. This couldn't possibly be the real her… "Remember when you taught me how to see through the glamours? I got encantoed by that vampire. I…" she seemed breathless for some reason, "I wanted to be so angry at you, but…" This seems real but so did the other Clary. The Valentine-Clary. I don't trust her. The only one I can trust is Lissa. "You took me on my first motorcycle ride." So it is her.

I released her from my choke-hold, "What are you doing here?"

"Dot brought me," she explained.

I stepped back from her and scoffed incredulously, "Dot? She's alive?" That sounds suspicious. "Why… why would she bring you here?"

She nodded her head, "She wanted to show me something. Jace, I…" she hesitated, "I know this sounds crazy, but…" she paused again, before revealing, "I can see the future."

I shook my head at her. "No…" I stepped away from her, wary of her revelation, "…that's not… that's not possible." I turned my back on her, "Shadowhunters can't do that, Clary… there's only one family who can. You know that."

"Then I guess I'm not your ordinary Shadowhunter," she shouted back at me. "Neither are you." I turned to look at her, What she said can't be true. Only Lissa has the power to see the future. No Shadowhunter can break the Angel's laws. It's how its been. How it's always been. And I know for a fact, it always will be, "I never wanted this, Jace." she continued as she walked towards me, "I never wanted any of it."

Alright. I'll bite. Let's see what she knows. "What did you see?"

"The Downworlders." she looked at me with tears in her eyes, "They slaughter the mundanes, one by one, until… there's no one left." she sounded eager now, "And, Jace, with your demon blood, you…" she beginning to sound like Valentine. Maybe this is another illusion. Go along with it was Lissa's plan. She said we should go along with it so we can escape. "You're the only one that can stop them."

"My children." I heard our father's words from behind us. "This is what I've always wanted. To be with my family."

Clary took a defiant stance, "You and I are not family."

He seemed to be trying to convince someone. Me. Clary. Maybe even himself. "Clary, I am your father, and I do love you." He turned his attention to me, "So are you gonna join Jeremy? He's going big game hunting." he alternated his attention between the two of us, "We just got intel on the wolf that killed Jeremy's father. We're gonna bring the beast back to the boat."

I shook my head with a grimace, declining his offer once again.

"Where's my sister?" Clary suddenly asked.

I turned to her suspiciously. Why didn't she notice that she wasn't with me before?

Valentine tried to keep a straight face but I could still see the hint of a smile of his face. "She's busy at the moment." he looked around trying to avoid our gaze, "She's currently using her- err- gifts for our cause."

I stepped towards him aggressively, "Where is she?"

He just ignored me and turned once more to Clary, "Look, since Jace doesn't want to go, why don't you come along, Clary? Hone those Shadowhunting skills of yours, huh?" he mocked.

I cut in, "No!" Lissa is currently missing. I can't not know where Clary is either. "She's, uh…" I stepped into Valentine's eyesight, "she's not ready to face a cornered werewolf." Clary's eyes flickered to me. "I'll go." I walked away from them and went to find the other hunters.

Alec Lightwood

I was sat on the bed watching Izzy argue with Clary's mother as said woman cradled the Adamas stone.

"If Luke's had the stone all along, why didn't he say anything when Jace first went missing?"

Jocelyn's back was to us as she sad, "I'll be honest. There are some serious risks involved." she turned to us, "It's why I don't want you to call Lil-Alicia here."

"What kind of risks?" Izzy asked hesitantly.

"The parabatai that initiates the contact, it can be taxing on his or her body… on their mind…" she said.

I got up and joined my sister, "This was Allie's idea. We'll let her decide what she wants to do when she gets here." I placated my sister. "Ready?" I asked them. They nodded in agreement so I sat down on the bed and began concentrating.

Allie. Where are you? I need you here… Allie? I honestly don't know what I'm doing… You really should have told me how I'm supposed to do this proper-

"Alec." I heard a voice amusedly say from the other side of the room. I opened my eyes to see Lissa's form fading into existence, she had a smirk on her face whilst Iz and Jocelyn stared in shock. "Your thoughts are amusing."

She took a deep breath as she became corporal and then began looking around at the occupants of the room. She caught sight of her adoptive mother and her hands immediately flew to her mouth.

"Mommy?"

Awww. She sounds adorable. Is this the Lissa that used to live before she met us?

Ugh.

I sound like such a girl.

I watched as Jocelyn nodded her head shakily before opening her arms out.

"Mommy!" Allie cried happily before running up to her mom. I watched in shock as the little girl jumped on the older woman and wrapped her legs around her waist.

She was such a happy child before she met us.

"I'm so glad you're okay mommy. I've missed you so very much." Jocelyn had begun backing up so she sat beside me on the bed with Allie in her lap.

Who knew that she acted like such a baby in front of her mom.

"I've missed you too baby." she said before giving her another hug, "I'm so sorry that I never told you about your past and that I took you away from your parabatai- from Jonathan."

Allie offered a comforting look, "It's okay mama." she got off her mom's lap before kneeling in front of her, "If you hadn't taken me all those years ago, I wouldn't have met you or Clary. I wouldn't have been brought up by my biological uncle. I wouldn't have met Magnus all those years ago. I wouldn't have been given a normal childhood. I would have been pushed and pulled and manipulated into what the Clave thought the future Queen should act like." she shrugged as tears gently cascaded down her face, "If anything, I'd like to thank you, mom."

She hugged her once more before kissing her on the cheek. Allie got up from her kneeling position before turning towards my sister.

"IZ!" she squealed happily before tackling my sister into a hug. "I can't wait for you guys to find me. I am in need of a good shopping spree."

Izzy nodded in understanding before saying, "And by the Angel, there's a new head of the institute that you need to make an example of. You gotta knock his ass off his pedestal."

Allie seemed to be taking her words seriously as she nodded her head solemnly. "I'll do my best when I come back. From the glimpses, I've seen of him… he's an ass."

"ALICIA VIVIAN GRAYMARK!" I jerked away from Jocelyn as she screamed her daughter's name. I saw Allie flinch before slowly turning around to face her mother. She had fear stamped all over her face.

So this is what she looks like when she's afraid. I've haven't seen it in ages - not since she first came to us. Who knew she was scared of something after all this time…

She had her head aimed to the floor as she muttered, "Sorry mummy."

A silence washed over us for a few moments.

Allie's curious voice soon broke said silence, "Err. Not that I'm unhappy with seeing you guys… but why am I here?"

I chuckled, drawing her attention to me, "Your mom found a way to locate you guys."

She nodded her head as she smiled at us, "Then let's do this!" before heading to the bed and lying down.

I stood by Izzy's side whilst she gave Allie a concerned look.

"Izzy, it's fine," she reassured.

Jocelyn sat by her daughter's side, "Honey, there's erm- there are some serious risks that come with this process." Allie cocked her head in confusion, causing Jocelyn to explain, "If you initiate the contact between your bonds, it will be taxing on your body and your mind…"

"I'm not liking the sound of this." I cut in.

"Taxing how?" Izzy asked.

The elder woman shook her head sadly as she brushed the hair away from Allie's eye, "We're not sure." she looked back up at my sister and I, "Of the few people who have tried it, not many have come back to talk about it."

"Forget it." my sister said resolutely, "She's not doing it."

Allie cut in, "Don't listen to her."

But I cut her off, "No, Allie."

Izzy continued my argument, "I've already lost both parents to Idris and you and one of my brothers to Valentine. We refuse to permanently lose you, too."

Allie sat up in frustration as she rolled her eyes to the ceiling, "Alec. Izzy. You said it yourself. We have no choice."

I glared at my friend, "That was before I knew you could die!"

"No." Izzy commanded, "Get up!"

Allie was looking at the ceiling contemplating something before turning her gaze on us, "He needs me, guys. He needs to be back here. Back home, and the only way for both of us to be saved is if you guys rescue us. And I can't…" she choked on her heads before sighing, "I can't live without him. He's different now, he needs to come home soon."

She repositioned herself so she was laying down on the bed comfortably.

"Let's do this."

Jocelyn stroked her daughter's hair comfortingly before saying, "If you're sure…" gaining a nod from the youngest occupant in the room. Jocelyn fiddled with the stone in her hands, "According to Luke, you need to stay near the surface. If you go too deep, nothing can bring you back."

Allie nodded in understanding.

"If you go too deep, by the Angel, Allie, I will kick your ass when you get back."

She nodded seriously before turning to Jocelyn, "Give me the stone."

Jocelyn placed the stone in Allie's hand before enclosing her fingers around Allie's. She patted the hand encouragingly before letting go. Allie wrapped both her hands around the stone before cradling it to her chest. She shut her eyes before inhaling deeply.

Jace Wayland

Jeremy and I arrived through the portal and landed back on the boat, clutching a werewolf with silver-white hair between us.

I released her and allowed Jeremy to chain her to a pole, "Ah, there you are!" I removed my jacket. "There's only one last thing for you to do." I turned to him, "Kill her."

"No! Please!" the wolf begged.

"She's our prisoner. She can't hurt anybody here." I argued.

Valentine looked at me nonchalantly, "If only she had shown her victims as much mercy."

Jeremy glared at the wolf, "After what she did, we're letting her off easy."

"What are you talking about?" she looked around in confusion, "I've done nothing wrong."

Jeremy interrupted her, "Five years ago, my father was mauled to death by a white wolf."

The truth dawned on me, "That was you." I brought my seraph blade out and held it to her neck, "You did that, didn't you?" I leant closer to her, "You murdered him, an innocent mundane."

"No, I've never killed anyone. I swear." she begged, her voice reaching a higher pitch as my blade glowed brighter when it came nearer her jugular, "I'm telling the truth!"

"Don't lie to me," I ordered harshly causing her to once again beg.

"Please don't kill me." she looked at me pleadingly, "I've obeyed the Accords. I'm part of Luke's pack."

Surely one of Luke's wolves wouldn't kill. He wouldn't condone the killing of innocents seeing as he was a shadowhunter first before being a werewolf.

"We don't hurt anyone. We're not like that."

I heard Valentine approach my back, "A wolf will say anything to go free, but she can never change what she is." The girl looked at me in the eyes, pleading for her life. I don't kill. I can't do this. "You let her live, son, and she will kill again… and again and again."

"Jace!" I heard Clary yell from my left. I turned to see her approaching figure.

What has she been doing whilst I've been gone? Has she found Lissa yet?

"Clarissa, how nice of you to join us." our father greeted. "Perhaps you can convince your brother to finish what he started."

She stared long and hard at Valentine before shaking her head.

"No?" he questioned. She shook her head defiantly. "Alright." He turned to one of his men, "Get her."

Who is he talking about? Lissa?

The man soon returned with an unconscious figure in his arms. Who is that? As they approached us, I immediately recognised that ebony hair and the pale skin littered with tiny specs of splattered blood.

"What did you do!?" I asked before stepping towards the man holding my parabatai. But Valentine stepped in my way. "Move out of the way." he resisted, only smirking at me. "I said, MOVE!"

"Only if you kill that wolf," he replied with gauging my reaction as he stroked her hair. I growled in response as Clary held me back from attacking them.

"Jace, I need you to listen to me." I turned to Clary as said this, "Everything I said before, I was under a spell."

I knew something was odd there. I thought as I tried to think of a way to rescue Lissa.

"Run!" Clary suddenly shouted and began running in the opposite direction to Valentine. Not without Lissa. I vowed running up to the three threats. I jumped kicking Valentine and Jeremy down. "Jonathan!" Before landing, I punched the man holding Lissa, causing him to stumble back. I yanked Lissa from his arms before running after Clary. I handed Lissa to her sister, hoping she wouldn't buckle under her weight.

Lissa is so light, Clary shouldn't have any trouble.

"Jonathan!" I heard Valentine shout once again, "There's no way out."

In another part of New York, Lissa lay on her bed in the institute, grasping the Adamas stone.

Images of her and Jace's past flashing through her eyes.

"Jonathan!" Valentine screamed in fury.

I flipped the sword in my hand before parrying away the blows two shadowhunters aimed at me. I kicked the one on the left down before dropping to the ground and swiping the other man's legs from underneath him.

The man on the left got up on his knees and I whacked his sword away from me.

The young princess twitched on the bed whilst the stone was now glowing a furious red, completely changed from the calm green it originally was.

Flashes of her re-meeting her parabatai began.

Suddenly she saw him fighting, wishing she was with him.

He ducked under the swing of a sword.

That sight was blocked by the image of you when you were a child. The age you were when you first made your pledge to one another.

Unbeknownst to you, your loved ones watched on in worry as you began flinching in pain as blood began trickling down your nose.

I hit the blade away from me before stabbing that man in the stomach. I caught the blow from behind with my sword before cutting his leg. I stabbed him in the back as Clary hurried towards me. I grabbed Lissa from her before continuing running.

I looked down at the girl in my eyes in concern as I watched blood trickle from her nose. What is going on?

H er back arched as the pain became too much.

From the back of your mind, you heard the sound of several gasps and a muffled sob.

You were watching that boy - Jace. Your parabatai. As he tried to escape, only to stop as the girl in his eyes, arched her spine, more blood flowing from nose.

The boy blinked in confusion.

Did he see what I saw? The girl thought.

Her vision switched to one of her younger self then to the boy.

The boy's vision switched from the boat to seeing his younger self.

Blood began pouring from the boy's nose as he coughed uncomfortably.

"Jace, are you okay?" Clary asked me as she kept me stable.

"Jonathan!" the maniac once against shouted.

I groaned in discomfort as I felt as if I was gonna pass out.

No.

Not now.

"Jonathan, come back here!" I saw more shadowhunters approach us, "There's nowhere to run!"

I turned to face the water as I heard the sound of a broken forcefield.

"Jace, we have to go now!" Clary ordered as Lissa began twitching violently.

The girl's spine once again arched in agony.

She was twitching uncontrollably as everyone began panicking around her.

"Jace!"

That knocked me back to my senses.

I grunted in agony before shifting my body forwards, arms wrapping around Lissa's twitching body tightly as we ran up to the side of the ship, getting ready to take the leap of faith.

She arched her back one last time before she let go of the Adamas.

She went limp.

Both in her astral form and in reality.

The occupants in the room shouted in alarm as the princess began fading from existence.

Lissa went limp in my arms as I jumped onto the railing to propel me into the water.

My last thought before we jumped overboard was…

What's happened to Lissa?
