Chapter 3: Get her!

(Meanwhile…)

Tommy walked and Freddy down the hall.

"As a friend, I have to tell you you've finally gone around the bend on this ghost business. You guys have been running your ass off, meeting and greeting every George in the five boroughs who says he's had a paranormal experience. What have you seen?" Tommy asked in concern.

As Tommy and Freddy entered the Library. When the door opened, they turned to them.

"Of course you forget, Tommy, I was present at an undersea, unexplained mass sponge migration." Freddy replied.

"Oh, Freddy, the sponges migrated about a foot and a half.?" Tommy asked in concern.

Tommy turned him in, he reacted as if he probably heard that story for the umpteenth time and countered the sponges migrated about a foot and a half. They slowly converged on his friend: George Dawson in Library. He sat next to a table listening with his stethoscope which was holding under the desk. Tommy noticed George and sneaked over then, in a faux zombie voice, uttered George looked down at the PC-4 Calculator, he went to the table, Tommy was hidden and knocked on the desk.

George hears the sound, Tommy grabs the book and groans, George perked up, Tommy rapped the table with his knuckles then slammed a hardcover book down...

*BANGS!*

George got his ear to hunt, his ear was off for the stethoscope, he was startled and jumped. George finally noticed Tommy and Freddy.

Over at the librarian's desk, all the students looked over at the trio. When they saw them, George got up and turned to Tommy and Freddy.

"Oh, you're here." George replied, as he stood up and turned to them.

"Yeah, what have you got?" Tommy asked in concern.

"This is big, Tommy. This is very big. There's definitely something here." George said.

"George, this reminds me of the time you tried to drill a hole through your head, remember that?" Tommy asked.

"That would've worked if-" George said.

"Hey boys!" a voice came.

Tommy, George and Freddy turned around to Carrie, Miss Desjardin and Principal Morton entered the Library.

"Oh, Principal Morton and Miss Desjardin." Tommy replied.

"What are you boys doing?" Miss Desjardin asked in concern.

"I'm sorry, George, Freddy and I are here." Tommy replied.

"With Carrie White?" George asked in concern.

"Is she okay?" Freddy asked in concern.

"She's fine." Miss Desjardin replied.

"I hope we can clear this up quickly and quietly." Principal Morton replied.

"Let's not rush things. We don't even know what you have yet." Tommy replied.

"Hey, that's Ms. Walsh." Freddy replied, as he pointed to Ms. Walsh.

They saw a woman, by the name of Librarian Teacher: Ms. Arlene Walsh is coming.

"Arlene, What happened?" Principal Morton asked in concern.

"Principal Morton, I'm sorry, Mary is okay. The Nurse was here." Ms. Walsh replied.

"Where is she?" Miss Desjardin asked in concern.

"Over there." Ms. Walsh said, as she pointed to her hand in Mary, to their desk.

They saw Mary on the desk.

"I'm talking with her." Principal Morton replied.

"All right." Ms. Walsh replied.

"Carrie got sitting. One minutes." Miss Desjardin replied.

"Okay, good." Principal Morton replied.

Miss Desjardin takes Carrie, she sits down.

"Carrie, I'm talking with Mary Ann. Stay here." Miss Desjardin replied.

"Okay." Carrie replied.

Miss Desjardin went with them, Carrie was sitting and turned around, Carrie was waiting for Miss Desjardin, Principal Morton and the others. Tommy, George, Freddy, Rita, and Henry went into the office dividing the north and south wings of the Reading Room. Mary was lying on a table in shock.

"I don't remember seeing any legs, but it definitely had arms, because it reached out for me." Mary replied.

"Arms?" Miss Desjardin asked in concern.

"Arms? I can't wait to get a look at this thing." Freddy replied, as he held the photographer to video record her and Tommy.

Tommy got more excited and remained oblivious of Mary being traumatized by the incident

"Mary, I'm going to ask you a couple of standard questions, okay?" Tommy asked in concern, as he sat near Mary.

Mary Ann nodded yes.

"Have you or any member of you family ever been diagnosed schizophrenic, mentally incompetent?" Tommy asked in concern.

"My uncle thought he was St. Jerome." Mary replied.

Tommy nodded no.

"I'd call that a big yes. Uh, are you habitually using drugs, stimulants, alcohol?" Tommy asked in concern.

"No." Mary replied.

"No, no. Just asking. Are you, Mary Ann menstruating right now?" Tommy asked in concern.

"What has that got to do with it?" Principal Morton asked in concern.

Tommy smiled and turned to Principal Morton

"Back off, sir. I'm a scientist." Tommy replied.

"Nurse Kelsey, how's she?" Miss Desjardin asked in concern, as she turned to her.

A nurse, by the name of Kelsey to Melissa McCarthy, have her stethoscope to Mary's leg.

"Better." Nurse Kelsey replied.

"Good." Miss Desjardin replied.

"Yep." Nurse Kelsey replied.

"Bad injury?" Principal Morton asked to concern.

"No, she's not injured." Nurse Kelsey replied.

"Good." Principal Morton replied.

"Too, Nurse." Tommy replied.

"Funny." Nurse Kelsey replied.

George entered the office and reported the ghost was on the move, he is running with them.

"Freddy, it's moving. Come on." George said, as he stood behind them.

"What?" Miss Desjardin asked in concern.

"Hidden?" Principal Morton asked in concern.

"Downstairs." Mary replied.

"Where is downstairs?" Tommy asked in concern.

"In the basement." Mary replied.

"All right. Don't worry we will be back." Tommy replied.

"Sure." Principal Morton replied.

"Okay." Miss Desjardin replied.

"All right, boys." Tommy replied, as he was with George & Freddy.

(At the Basement…)

George came down the stairs to the basement stacks first and had out his P.K.E. Meter.

*BUZZING*

Freddy was close behind him with the video record, George was serious and focused. Tommy came down last, lacking any interest and rolling his eyes, as Tommy started to make scary hand gestures at Freddy. They found an incredibly tall stack of books in an aisle.

"Look!" George replied.

George swept his P.K.E. Meter around the stack and stated it was hot.

"This is hot, Freddy." George replied.

"Symmetrical book stacking." Freddy replied.

Freddy recalled the term Symmetrical book stacking. Tommy & George looked down & up at the book stacking. Tommy & George turned to Freddy.

"Just like the Philadelphia mass turbulence of 1947." Freddy replied.

Tommy & George nodded yes.

"You're right. No human being would stack books like this." Tommy replied.

"Listen! Do you smell something?" Freddy asked in concern, as he suddenly turned & smelled.

Instructed everyone to listen then asked them if they smelled something.

George looked down at P.K.E. Meter to Buzzing, Tommy sniffed the air. They came across the card catalog that Mary Ann ran away from. Cards were still all over. Clear hued Ectoplasmic was strewn all about.

"Talk about telekinetic activity. Look at this mess." Freddy replied.

"Freddy, look at this." George replied.

George zeroed in on the Ectoplasm and clued Freddy in.

"Ectoplasmic residue." Freddy replied.

"Ross, get a sample of this." George replied.

George held out a Plastic Petri Dish and asked Tommy to get a sample.

"It's the real thing." Freddy replied, as he slowly backed away and followed George.

George grave Tommy to a sample.

"Somebody blows their nose, and you want to keep it?" Tommy grumbled.

"I'd like to analyze it." George replied.

Tommy scraped Ectoplasm from a drawer into the petri dish.

"There's more over here." Freddy replied.

"I'm getting stronger reading here." Tommy replied.

Around the corner, Freddy noticed more. George confirmed stronger readings further on. It was not working and some of the residue got on Tommy's hands. Tommy groaned and grabbed ectoplasmic residue for a sample.

"This way." George replied, as he turned to Tommy.

Tommy turns to his right head and his hand is still ectoplasmic residue, his right hand still.

"Come on." Freddy replied, as he told Tommy.

Tommy tried to flick it away. Some got on his face. Tommy grunted and started slapping books and wiping random book spines. He stepped on some slimed cards and lifted his foot and tried to shake the cards off.

They turned another corner.

"George, your mucus." Tommy replied as he caught up and handed George the petri dish.

A green wood bookcase creaked and suddenly fell down face first behind them onto the floor, Tommy hopped back a little. They all stared at the bookcase. As the dust kicked up in the air, Tommy calmly turned to Freddy.

"This happen to you before?" Tommy asked in concern.

Freddy slowly shook his head 'no'.

"Oh. First time?" Tommy asked in concern.

Freddy slowly nodded 'yes'.

They continued on. They emerged from aisle. The P.K.E. Meter lit up.

*BUZZING*

They went down the next aisle. The arms on the P.K.E. Meter rose up and George held out his hand to the others to stop. He stepped out of the aisle, swept around to his left then turned right, and paused in surprise at what he saw.

"It's here." George replied.

Tommy, George and Freddy looked & It was the Library ghost. She was looking at books.

"A full torso apparition. And it's real." Freddy replied, as he excited and softly.

The ghost began reading a book. George & Freddy were softly.

"So what do we do?" Tommy asked in concern.

George & Freddy were silent and looked at each other.

"Could you come over here and talk to me for a second, please?" Tommy asked in concern.

Tommy rolled his eyes, he pulled Freddy by the ear into an aisle.

"Could you just me over here and talk to me for a second, please?" Tommy asked in concern.

The ghost looked over at them.

"Right over here. Come here, George. Come here." Tommy replied.

Tommy, George & Freddy into an aisle.

"What do we do?" Tommy asked in concern.

"I don't know. What do you think?" Freddy asked in concern.

Freddy wasn't sure what to do and turned to George. George took out a calculator and started typing.

"STOP THAT!" Tommy called.

But Tommy yelled at him to stop that and knocked it out of his hands. It tattered on the floor. George got mad at Tommy.

"We've got to make contact. One of us should actually try to speak to it." Freddy replied, as he turned to George.

"Good idea." George agreed.

They both looked at Tommy. Tommy sighs and huffs over the silent vote. He walked out of the aisle. George took over the photographer for video recording. Freddy followed and quickly snapped photographs with his phone.

Tommy greeted the ghost, introduced himself.

"Hello. I'm Tommy." Tommy replied, with a smile to the ghost.

Tommy smiled, Freddy's phone to take a photo, George looked at Freddy's photographer for video.

"Where are you from? Originally." Tommy replied.

"Shh." The ghost replied, as she turned and only shushed him.

Tommy stops to smile and turns to Freddy's phone to take a photo, while George looks at Freddy's photographer for video.

"All right. Okay. The usual stuff isn't working." Tommy replied.

Tommy returned to the aisle, corralling George and Freddy back into the aisle.

"Okay, I have a plan. I know exactly what to do." Freddy replied.

Freddy instructed them to stay close and do exactly.

"Now, stay close. Stay close." Freddy replied.

They inched back out and slowly moved closer.

"I know. Do exactly as I say." Freddy replied.

The ghost pulls the book and turns to them.

"Get ready. Ready?" Freddy replied.

Freddy suddenly exclaimed.

"GET HER!" Freddy exclaimed.

The ghost transmogrified into a monstrous form and screamed at them. Tommy, George & Freddy were all screaming. They cried out and Tommy, Freddy and George backed away almost in unison.

They hurried up the stairs. They cried out and George & Freddy were screaming continues, they were running at the Library, Carrie, Desjardin, Morton, Walsh, Mary, and all students turned around at them as screaming, they followed them.

"Did you see it?" Principal Morton asked in concern.

"What was it?" Miss Desjardin asked in concern.

"What?" Ms. Walsh asked in concern.

Tommy, George & Freddy were panting & breathing heavily.

"What happened?" Miss Desjardin asked in concern.

"Are you guys okay?" Principal Morton asked in concern.

"We're fine." Tommy replied.

"We saw her." George replied.

"The woman?" Miss Desjardin asked in concern.

"Yeah, a ghost." Freddy replied.

"Ghost?" Principal Morton asked in concern.

"Oh, my god! Yes, That's! I saw the ghost!" Mary replied.

"You know it." Miss Desjardin replied.

"Ghost?!" Ms. Walsh replied.

"Ghost?" Carrie asked in concern.

"Yeah. That's a ghost!" Freddy replied.

"No way!" Walsh replied.

"Oh my god, I can't believe it." Miss Desjardin replied.

"All right, boys. Okay, I got it." Principal Morton replied.

"Yeah, too." Tommy replied.

Principal Morton turned around to see all the students over to see them.

"All right. Hey I'm sorry, everyone. They are okay. Get back work." Principal Morton replied.

All the students got back, they turned and looked down at the books.

"Good idea, boys." Principal Morton replied.

"Thanks Mr. Morton. Come on, guys." Tommy replied.

"So long." George replied.

"Too." Freddy replied.

Carrie turned and looked at them, they were out for the Library.

"Rita, You get her. We're gonna have to call her mother." Principal Morton replied.

"I got it." Miss Desjardin replied.

Miss Desjardin turned & walked around and got Carrie to get up.

"I'm sorry Carrie, we'll make sure they don't." Miss Desjardin said to comfort Carrie, as she gently stroked Carrie's arms, causing Carrie to blush slightly, as Principal Morton called their mother…

"What a ghost?" Carrie asked in concern.

"I know." Miss Desjardin replied.

"The ghost in here?" Carrie asked in concern.

"Yeah. I know. Come on." Miss Desjardin replied.

Principal Morton grabbed the phone to the desk.
