Zane POV: Kai quickly fell asleep and I cleaned up as soon as he started snoring. I was concerned about him having another nightmare and had the appropriate things on standby just in case.

Once I got everything cleaned up I took a seat next to him. And noticed just how bad he looked. Of course he was cleaned up after we took care of his injuries, but he didn't look the same anymore. He looked… worn out. As if he hasn't been taking care of himself properly.

He began to fidget in his sleep and I took his hand, trying to comfort him. But he continues to fidget. However, it doesn't get much worse than that. After a while he finally settled down, I let go and did a quick scan.

His heart rate had slightly increased, but I already predicted that. His injuries were healing at a stable rate, even though he still had a way to go. Physically, he was doing better than before.

He moaned slightly in his sleep, grabbing my attention. He gasped and reached for his shoulder, but I quickly stopped him. He didn't fight me and relaxed. He still didn't wake up and I checked his stab wound again despite having cleaned it recently.

It didn't look like it was getting infected, so that means the pain is what's making him uncomfortable. I changed the bandages, just in case, and gave him some painkillers.

I just hope that he can recover soon.

? POV: I walked for a bit, up until the pain was too much. The scratch had opened and was bleeding again. I stopped next to a tree and sat down. I hissed as I removed the makeshift bandages. It looked like it was on the verge of infection.

I sighed and leaned back, groaning. Of course, why wouldn't the wound open up. I took a deep breath and started to wrap them again

"Are you alright?" Someone suddenly said.

I looked up and saw an older woman and a rougher looking man with an eyepatch. They looked concerned.

Before I could say anything the man saw my wound and rushed over to my side and said, "That looks bad…"

"And what's the bad news?" I asked sarcastically.

The woman came over, pulled out some medical supplies and said, "We have some things that can help."

I hesitated, not sure if I could trust them, but the bleeding and pain was too much for me. So I nodded.

The woman gently and carefully cleaned and wrapped the wound once she stopped the bleeding. I groaned uncomfortably but kept as still as I could.

"Alright, that should do it. But you're going to need more medical attention." she said, standing up.

"But I'm guessing that you trust us, am I right?" the man said.

"Pretty much." I responded, staring them down.

"You don't have to worry. You can leave the second you want to, and you will be given anything you need." The woman said, comforting.

I still wasn't completely convinced, but I know that I need to get out of here. And get in better shape so I can find him.

"Alright, fine." I finally said, standing up. The man helped me and they led me to a helicopter.
