Chapter 10: Ship Escape
They find a section on the wall to press a panel to unlock a secret door to see a plain white hallway not matching the rest of the complex. "We hit the jackpot, time to get my friend back," Elza said as they went into the hallways to see a lot of Oozes coming down the hallway.
"Shit, that is a lot of Oozes," Elza said as they see a bunch of dead Undertakers on the floor who made their final stand with one Undertaker who looks too big to be like the others. Jack sees a UKM-2000M machine gun coming with a default 100-round ammo box as he takes the machine gun to set it to full auto.
"Like shooting fish in a barrel," Jack said as he shoulders the weapon as the horde got closer to them moaning and groaning. "Time to go ape shit on these assholes," he set his gun ablaze as the bursts of bullets tear through the incoming Ooze monsters.
The bullets cut down several Oozes at once as the heavy NATO rounds are leaving behind a wake of carnage. The once-clean white walls are smeared with red and broken body parts litter the floor. The machine gun booms through the corridors as the monsters are dropping like flies for nothing can be heard but the empty clicks of the machine gun.
"Damn, are you secretly Rambo or something?" Elza asked as she was dumbfounded by the amount of gore on display to be scattered everywhere. Jack tosses it away to return to his SG 553 Carbine.
"I wish, come on," Jack said as they fought their way through the remaining Oozes and Undertakers to be by an area where there was a battle that took place.
"This seems to be the place Rachel is talking about," Elza said as they found the door to unlocked it to see the tall blond asleep on the chair. "Oh; here is sleeping beauty just chilling on the chair," she joked as Jack went up to wake her up.
"Hey; sleeping beauty, wake up," he said shaking her shoulder for her blue eyes to meet with his blue ones as she gave him a big hug.
"Oh, my knight in shining armor has come to rescue me," Rachel said in her usual peppy voice.
"You forgot about me there," Elza said as she got a hug from Rachel as well.
"Of course, I thank you both for saving me," Rachel said.
"No problem," Jack said as he looks at Rachal's new blue bodysuit, which is hugging her curves very well, especially her breasts, hips, ass, and legs. "What is with that suit?" he asked.
"Yeah, where did you get it from?" Elza asked as she was curious as well.
"Oh, I found it here, it's a prototype battle suit that is lightweight and comfortable while being tougher than solid steel. All of it made from spider silk," she said as Elza raised a blond eyebrow at this.
"Right," she said with confusion in her tone of voice.
"Well, silk from spiders is pretty strong. It makes sense to try and use it to make lightweight body armor," Jack said going up to Seung's terminal to see all the data stored within it. "Good I can transfer this into a memory stick," Jack pulls out a small chip to insert on the side of the computer.
"Hey Jack, do you think this looks cool on me?" Rachel asked as she showed off her bodysuit to him as he was distracted by her curvaceous features sticking out on the suit.
"It looks pretty good on you Rachel, keep it close. You are going to need it in this hellscape and excellent work dealing with the creep," Jack said as Rachel's heart leaped with happiness to get praise from him.
"Right," she said with a bright cheerful smile that Jack had grown to adore her over the years. Rachel finds her Tanto dagger on the desk. "That jerk stole my dagger. Don't need this shock baton anymore," she drops the baton and replaces it with her knife to place it on her boot holster. "Okay, I found a map that shows that the Connection's base is on Ion Ilse around here," she said.
"Perfect, says the same thing here on this terminal. We need to get out of here. Bioweapons are flooding into the labs," Jack said.
"There should be escaped mini subs we can use. We need to go to the deepest parts of the lab to get out of here. Since Seung is dead, a dead man switch activated and now all the subjects are running loose here," she said.
"Yeah, there are Oozes everywhere in the hallway. Hopefully, those Undertakers can take care of them for us," Elza said as the trio exited out of the safe room to hear gunfire in the distance.
The overseer activates a monitor to see Seung's dead body on the floor. "Oh my, how troublingly. I think I need to activate the self-destruct on this ship. Need to wipe out the evidence here," the Overseer said as she pressed a button for the ship to begin to overload its reactor.
Elsewhere a weird-looking Tyrant is within a tube as the dead man switch makes the glass tube come down unleashing the fierce beast. It roars as it rushes through the hallway to kill anything in its wake.
The three go off towards a lift to hear fighting in the distance with Undertakers and Oozes fighting each other. "Let them kill each other," Jack said as the red lights began to glow within the hallways.
"Self-destruct has been activated. In t-minus 30 minutes, this ship will be destroyed," the AI voice said on the speakers.
"What is up with these guys and self-destruction?" Rachel asked.
"Cover up the evidence, let's get out of here and head for Ion," Elza said as the trio could see a bunch of dead Undertakers on the white floor and a bunch of Oozes blocking their path. "Gee get out of the way," Elza said as she loaded up slugs to put them into the heads of the Oozes making them melt into goo.
Rachel is using her magnum to strike them through the head to kill them off. She finds an MDRX 6.5 DMR on a dead Undertaker to claim it as her new main weapon. "This will do just fine," she said as the bullpup weapon had semi-auto and full-auto settings along with a sniper scope. "Very handy for up encounters," she said as she left it on Semi Auto and set the scope on the lesser zoom.
She sees two Tricornes shooting their bone spikes from their crossbow arms. She fires her new weapon to slam into their heads with precise rapid shots to kill them off.
"Very nice babe," Jack said as Rachel nodded her head for them to keep moving to take out Oozes and stranded Undertakers who were lost without their master on the ship.
Then they see an Abyss Hunter Gamma 2 opening its wide mouth trying to swallow them whole. "Oh gee," Elza lobs a flame grenade to set the beast on fire to begin raging out and tackling all of them to slide them across the floor.
Rachel wields her MDRX 6.5 to set it on full auto to dump all 20 heavy rounds into the skull of the beast to see it finally drop onto the floor lifeless. "That came in handy," she said as she set back the rifle to semi-auto and reload the DMR.
"I think I see the lift nearby to see rows of Undertakers dead on the floor with several Arrowheads approaching them along with Tricornes hanging in the back.
"Well great," she lobs shock grenades from her GL-06 to zap the arrowheads to do great damage against them while getting shot down with Rachel and Jack's automatic weapons tearing into their bodies. She uses another shock grenade to take them down while they keep going towards the lift.
Then they hear a big roar nearby. "What is that?" Rachel wondered as they saw a lumbering figure down the hallway.
"That is a tyrant but one made by the T-Abyss virus," Elza said as they saw a huge male figure covered in a crab-like exoskeleton with one of its arms having a crab-like pincer. Its head is covered with a single big eye as it unleashes a pulsing sound to rush at it.
"The file said that is an Abyss Tyrant," Rachel goes full auto to see her rounds are not piercing the hard shell armor all over its body. "Oh no, that shell armor is bulletproof," she said as Elza used her grenade launcher to lob explosive rounds but didn't slow it down.
"This is not good," Elza said as Jack got to the lift to press the button to the sub bay but the lift will not come up for a few minutes.
"Oh boy, we need to distract it until we get the lift back up here," Jack said as they moved away with the beast rushing at them. They fire their weapons but nothing stops this monster from moving into a wide area that looks like a warehouse.
"We can get the high ground from here," Rachel said as she saw a ton of boxes and shipping crates inside. They spread out with the beast smashing through the wall.
"Self-destruction in t-minus 20 minutes," the AI voice said on the loudspeakers.
"Gee, this is nuts," Jack said as he saw acid barrels around them. "Oh, this will soften him up," Jack said as he tossed the barrel to roll it toward the monster. "Eat this crabcake," he uses his pistol to set off the crate to splash acid onto the shell armor softening it up for the weapon's fire. He switches to his carbine to pepper 5.56 rounds which can cut into the beast now.
"Good idea," Elza said as she used slugs to shoot into its chest. The Abyss Tyrant is using its crab claw to knock objects towards the duo. They roll and dodge away from the incoming projectiles. Rachel climbs on top of the crates to gain higher ground to use her new weapon to begin putting shots at the monster.
"Good work baby, we can fight this monster now," she said as the Abyss Tyrant was taking damage with his shell armor beginning to recover allowing him to shrug off the bullets again.
"Crap seems like it recovered its armor. Need more acid to soften him up again," Elza said as she dodged a thrown object with it charging it to use its claw to swipe at Elza. This sends her flying across the warehouse to tumble around.
"E!" Rachel asked on the radio as she saw another acid barrel break it with a shot to splash all over the beast weakening its armor again.
The Abyss Tyrant lunges towards Jack with its large crab claw. He is unable to dodge and uses his carbine to block the strike. The force of the attack launches him across the floor as his SG 553 is snapped in half.
"There goes that," he said as he switched to his Glock 40 to pop shots at the weakened Tyrant.
"Hey, are you okay Jack?" Rachel asked on the radio to be worried.
"No problem, sweetheart. We got this nasty boss on the ropes, one more push, and we can get rid of it," Jack said.
"Yeah, we don't have much time," Rachel said as she leaped into a crate to see a box filled with SMAW rocket launchers. "Christmas came early," Rachel said as she grabbed one of the launchers to aim. "Take cover," Rachel said on the radio to fire the rocket at the beast.
The bioweapon uses its giant claw to block the blast but it managed to destroy the claw. "Shit, keep it distracted. I am going to reload," she said as she reloaded the SMAW with Elza lobs a shock grenade from her launcher to stun and hurt it.
He fires several shots into the head of the beast to do more damage to keep its attention on the two while Rachel is preparing for another shot. Jack fires another acid container to spray onto the monster keeping its shell armor weak.
The Abyss Tyrant is emitting a pulsing soundwave which shakes up their hearing to stun them. The Tyrant tackles Jack to knock him onto a crate.
"Stay away from him, you bastard," Rachel said as she fired the second rocket which scored a hit to reduce the top section of the Tyrant to red mist and its lower half fell onto the floor pouring blood onto the floor.
"Nice shot Sunshine," Jack said as they went back to the lift to see it there. "Good, let's move," he said as they went down the elevator shaft to the mini-sub bay.
"Destruction of Haven in 10 minutes," the AI voice said on the loudspeakers.
"We don't have much time left," Elza said as they arrived at the bottom of the labs to see several escape mini-subs they could use.
"Good, we can use these to get to Ion Island," Rachel said as they went over to take a mini-sub to enter inside. "Seems comfortable here," she said as Jack got into the control room to get into the pilot seat.
"Okay girls, hold on tight. This is going to be a bumpy ride," Jack said as they went underwater to drive away from the exploding cruise ship with the reactor exploding and wiping out the ship.
They felt the shockwaves through the water shake them up a bit but they kept driving through the water. "Well, we got our location. Ion Isle off the far coast of Alaska. Seems so isolated," Elza said.
"That is the idea. There is the main town deep in the middle of the island called Redford. There is a Connections lab underneath but we got to go through the forests of the island to get there. There are reports of the T-Abyss virus leaking into the isle meaning we are going to face more bioweapons," Rachel said.
"Great, we need to get a base of operations to go work from and survey the area," Jack said.
"Yep we got this," Rachel said with her Pollyanna attitude which he felt so cute as their first part of the mission was complete. The Connection research vessel Haven is no more and the finding of the main base of the Connections on the isle of Ion is about to begin.
