Yu-gi-oh/RWBY Chapter 21
Confronting the Past
It was about dusk when the helicopter landed on Satellite, and Cinder relayed the plan to everyone one last time. "The four towers are here," referring to a map she had shown to everyone of the old Ener-D reactor. "Since we currently have 4 signers, that means one for each. Officer Trudge, you will escort the Schnee siblings to the East tower. That one seems not to be guarded, so they'll get the easy one." He nodded in agreement. Blake stepped up. "I'll take the south tower. Since it has the Man geoglyph, that's most likely where Adam is." Ruby also chimed in. "I'll take the North tower, then. I want to confront Pyrrha and try to put this conflict behind us." "That leaves me with the West." Yang added. Ruby, Blake, and Yang rode off on their duel runners and Trudge drove on in a jeep with Weiss and Whitley in the back seats. Cinder stayed behind, grateful that the plan was coming to its rightful conclusion.
The three ride along the dirt road for several minutes, an uncomfortable silence between the three. It is only broken by Blake as she says "We should go by Martha's house, check to see if she's okay." Yang nods, but Ruby is clueless. "Who?" "When we were little, a woman named Martha would take care of us and protect us from bad people. We owe our lives to her." The three changed course and rode off-road for a little bit.
They eventually stumbled on a small house that reminded Ruby of a cottage from a storybook. Blake and Yang looked around, growing concerned. "Where are all the other kids?" Blake asked. "They're usually out playing by now." They stop their vehicles and walk towards the house. Yang knocks on the door. "Martha? It's Yang and Blake." After a few seconds of silence, she tries the door, which is unlocked.
Yang leads the way into the house, with Blake and Ruby not far behind. They look through the rooms, but find no-one until the kitchen. Adam is sitting there, sipping on a drink of coffee. "Where are Martha and the others?" Yang demands. "Oh, they're in the shadows now." Adam says as he puts his drink down and stands up. "Taken by the Earthbound Immortals." Blake seethes with anger. "How could you?"
Adam points at her. "That is why. You care so much about them. And now you know what it's like to have everything ripped from you in an instant. Everything you love, gone." Yang had heard enough and swung at him, but he dodged out of the way. He ran out the back door and they followed in pursuit. Adam whistles for his duel runner and it rides towards him. Blake is about to grab him, but he jumps to get on his bike. "I'll see you at the tower, Blake Belladonna." He rides off with a laugh, leaving them to recover.
Trudge, Weiss, and Whitley were riding along when Weiss massaged her head, groaning in pain. "Are you okay?" Whitley asked. Weiss shook her head. "My head feels funny." A small light began to emit from her duel disk. They both took a closer look, and the light suddenly became a beam, shooting up into the air with numerous colors. Whitley had to close his eyes to shield them from the sudden burst. When the light faded and he could see again, Weiss was gone. "Weiss? Weiss!"
Weiss tried to get her eyes to adjust faster, but they felt like they had just looked at the tail end of a firework. Once she could finally see again, she sighs in frustration. She was in the Spirit World again. At least, that was the assumption for why she was in a forest and why she felt that funny feeling she always got when trying to remember what her coma was like. She looked around and expected a few more, you know, spirits to actually be in the spirit world.
Deducing that whatever pulled her here probably isn't coming to tell her why it pulled her here, Weiss gets up and starts walking in a random direction. The main reason? It's downhill, and thus easier on her feet. After a few minutes of the worst hike she had ever been on, she finds the hill ends at a river. She looks one way, then the other, and notices what looks like a castle at one of the ends. Weiss decides to go that way. "This had better be worth it."
Trudge stops the car and looks in the back seat. "W-where is she?" "If I knew that, do you think I'd be shouting her name trying to find her?" Whitley retorts. Trudge gets up and looks around, worried. "This is bad. What are we going to do about the tower?" Whitley thinks it over for a second, then says "I'll do it." "Are you crazy? I saw one of those things in action. Are you telling me you want to fight that?" "I'm not exactly thrilled about the prospect, but we have no other choice. Besides, I promised Weiss that I would protect her, and right now, this seems like the only way to do that."
Trudge stared at him for a few seconds, then relented. "Fine." Whitley grabbed his duel disk and jumped out of the jeep. "You should probably drive away, as far as you can. Maybe you'll be out of range of the Earthbound Immortal when it's summoned." Trudge nodded. "Good luck." he said before turning around and driving off. Whitley began his march, forcing his legs to move despite the fear coursing through his body.
After what felt like hours, Weiss got to the castle and banged on the gates as best she could. "HEY! LET ME IN!" In hindsight, it wasn't very ladylike, but Weiss wasn't in the best mood, and for all she knew, manners were different here. She didn't know. After some time, the gates open. Weiss walked in with a satisfied smile. Yelling solves another problem.
As she walks in, she notices that there isn't anyone there. However, she noticed some lights in the doors leading to the palace. Weiss walks that way and opens the door. Inside is a chaotic situation. Countless scorpions are falling from the floor, crawling towards their adversary, the White Glass Queen, who is busy blasting them away with her scepter. Weiss, not a particular fan of scorpions, stays in the door, hoping that none of them notice her.
A few minutes of tense battle ensue, with the Queen the victor. She looks over at Weiss. "You're just in time. Follow me." She walks over to the throne, and Weiss follows her. "Wait. You brought me here?" "Yes. I and my people need your help once more. Those scorpions were no mere animals. They were summoned by Zeman the Scorpion King." "Who?" "A horrid being, in league with the Earthbound Immortals for promise of power. He hopes to one day rule the spirit world, and has been granted an army to do so in exchange for destroying the dragon from your past."
"Right. The one that I'm supposed to remember from a coma that I only know learned wasn't a coma, but a trip to another world." Weiss looks around. "Where is everyone, by the way?" "Zeman has worn us down with wave after wave of endless attacks. Only I am left." Weiss was taken aback by that statement. Even if she didn't know any of these people anymore, knowing that they were all dead was devastating nonetheless. The Queen placed her scepter in a slot on the back of the throne, and the windows behind the shifted and morphed, until a black void was there.
"You must go in, now, and free the dragon by speaking its name." "I told you, I don't remember." "You must, or else-" The Queen suddenly looks away. "He is here, Zeman. Hurry, now. I will stall the best I can, but I won't be able to hold him back forever. Go!" She runs off, leaving Weiss before she can protest. Weiss looks back and forth between the doors that the Queen just left from and the window she is supposed to walk into. Her conscience somehow getting the better of her, Weiss jumps into the window.
Whitley walks towards the tower, noticing a lanky man with a scorpion tail leaning on the tower. The man looks unimpressed. "You're not one of the signers." Whitley prepares his duel disk. "I hate to disappoint, but Weiss is unavailable at the moment. You'll have to deal with me, Whitley Schnee." The man laughs at the very notion, then readies his own duel disk. "Very well. I haven't shed any blood recently. It'll be fun to toy with you until you scream for death. I am Tyrian Callows, one of the dark signers, and harbinger of your doom!"
