Yu-gi-oh/RWBY Chapter 24

Satisfaction

As Blake and Ruby rode along, they met Weiss, Whitley, and Trudge. The two groups caught each other up on their respective adventures, and continued on to the second tower. There, Adam was waiting on his duel runner. Once he sees them, he chuckles. "Welcome back, Blake. It's time to bring your suffering to its climax! You will burn in the Underworld!"

Blake stops her duel runner to talk to him. "Adam, I didn't betray you then. I was trying to give myself up so you could go free, but they caught you before I could!" "You expect me to believe that incredibly convenient story?" He starts up his duel runner and activates Speed World. "There's only one way to settle this. Let's duel already!" Blake rides along with him. The other four try to get to the tower, but the blue flame starts up before they get the chance.

"I'll go first. I draw!" Adam declared. "I summon Infernity Necromancer in defense mode." A green-haired skeleton in a robe appears (Level 3/2000). "I set a card and end my turn." "I draw." (Blake 0-1, Adam 0-1). I need to get ready for his Earthbound Immortal. "I summon Pitch Berserker from my hand!" An orc with two spears appears (Level 4/2000). "When Pitch Berserker attacks, I can have him gain 500 attack, but he'll be banished during the end phase." (Pitch Berserker 2000-2500). "Attack Infernity Necromancer!" The orc throws his spears, skewering the necromancer. "I set three cards and end my turn." Pitch Berserker fades away.

"How cute. I draw!" (Blake 1-2, Adam 1-2). "I activate my face-down, Limit Impulse! By discarding two cards, I get to summon two soul tokens." Two gray wisps appear (Level 1/0). "I then tribute them to summon my dark-tuner Nightmare Hand!" (Level 10/0) Here it comes, Blake thinks. "I activate Nightmare Hand's effect, summoning Infernity Dwarf from my hand!" (Level 2/800). "I dark-tune my level 10 Nightmare Hand into my level 2 Infernity Dwarf! "When the curtain of darkness descends down, the eyes of the underworld will open. Swoop down, darkness! Dark Synchro! Show yourself, One-Hundred Eyes Dragon!" (Level -8/3000). "Let's battle!" "Before you attack, I activate my face-down, Bribe Summon!" Blake interjects. "I get to summon a monster from my hand or deck, but in exchange, you draw two cards. I summon Knight of Night!" (Level 4/2000).

Adam reluctantly draws his cards. "Clever. You not only got a monster, but my Infernity monster's effects are offline now. But I can still destroy your knight! Infinity Sight Stream!" The dragon's eyes glow before shooting several beams forward. "I activate my second face-down, Totem Pole!" A large totem pole with three heads appears. "This trap can negate up to 3 of your attacks." The bottom head flies forward and blocks the beams. Thanks, Yanagi. "You'll pay soon. I end my turn."

"I draw!" (Blake 2-3, Adam 2-3). "I set a monster and end my turn." "Heh, if all you do is run, you'll just die tired. I draw!" (Blake 3-4, Adam 3-4). "I activate the speed spell Cards to Fuel! For every card I discard, I gain 2 speed counters!" (Adam 4-6). "I can also now activate One-Hundred Eye's effects. Infernity Necromancer lets me summon a level 4 or lower Infernity monster from my graveyard. I choose Infernity Archfiend." (Level 4/1800). "Infernity Archfiend, attack her face-down monster!"

"I use Totem Pole to negate the attack!" A head flies off, blocking the fiend's attack. "That trick won't work on One-Hundred Eyes Dragon, thanks to its effect from Infernity Beast. Infinity Sight Stream!" The dragon sends another volley of light, revealing Blake's monster to be Jinx Cat (200). "Thanks to Infernity Dwarf, you still take damage!" (Blake 4000-1200) (Blake 4-2). "But I can activate Jinx Cat's effect, adding a level 4 or lower Dark monster to my hand."

"I end my turn. Now, suffer for me, Blake Belladonna!" Adam spat out. "Adam, please listen to me. I didn't abandon you! You have to believe me!" Blake pleaded. "I don't. You wanted to stop me before, so why should I believe you would help me then?" he protested. "What's past is past. So play your cards and let me destroy you!" I'll show you the truth of my devotion. "I draw!" (Blake 2-3, Adam 6-7).

"If you control a monster and I don't, I can summon Fear Shield!" (Level 3/2000). "I then summon D/D Scout Plane!" (Level 2/800). "I tune my level 2 D/D Scout Plane with my level 3 Fear Shield! Forged in the lowest depths, rise and begin your garish work! Synchro Summon! Appear, Nightshade Chain!" A purple plant-woman carrying several chains across her body appears (Level 5/2100). "When it's synchro summoned, I can choose one monster you control. That monster can't attack while I control Nightshade Chain! I choose your dragon!" The plant-woman throws her chains forward, binding the dragon.

"Go, Nightshade Chain! Attack Infernity Archfiend with Purple Poison!" The plant-woman spits out poison, burning the fiend. (Adam 4000-3700). "I then activate my third face-down, Burst Way! Since my Nightshade Chain just destroyed your monster in battle, Burst Way equips to it, letting it attack directly. I set a card end my turn." Perfect. Not only is his dragon immobilized, but since I have a way around it, he can't use its last effect to bring out his Earthbound Immortal. Even if he uses Necromancer to bring out something else, I still have some uses out of Totem Pole.

Adam gritted his teeth. He knew Blake had him beat right now, and drew his card with a sense of gloom. (Blake 3-4, Adam 7-8). As he looked at the card he drew, however, his mood improved. "It would seem that fate will not be kind to you, Blake. I activate my speed spell Momentum Cannon! By removing 7 speed counters," (Adam 8-1) "I can add a level 5 or higher monster from my deck to my hand. Guess which one I pick."

Oh no, he's still getting it out. "I active the effect of Infernity Necromancer through One-Hundred Eyes Dragon to bring back Infernity Archfiend! But it won't be staying for long, since I tribute my monsters for Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu!" The giant emerged from the flames again, as if from Blake's nightmares (Level 10/3000). Blake can't look away from the monster, scared for her life.

"Ccapac Apu, crush her Nightshade Chain!" the giant reaches its hand forward, intent on squashing it's target. Blake steels herself. "I activate my Hidden Sword's effect, discarding it to give Nightshade 500 attack." (Nightshade Chain 2100-2600). The giant continues (Blake 1200-800). "Now for Ccapac Apu's effect! Since it destroyed your monster, you take damage equal to the destroyed monster's attack. Turn to dust forever!" The giant raises both its arms, ready to crush Blake this time.

"I activate the second effect of Nightshade Chain! If it's destroyed, I can activate a trap from my deck. I choose Saving Synchro! This negate the damage and lets me synchro summon a monster with attack less than or equal to the damage I would have taken. Take flight, Gambol Shroud Dragon!" The ebony dragon appears, blocking Ccapac Apu's hands (Level 8/2500).

Adam lets out a dismissive laugh. "Always the hero, aren't you? But not when I needed you. I end my turn." "I draw!" (Blake 4-5, Adam 1-2). "I summon Stygian Locomotive!" A fiend riding a train appears (Level 1/1000). "Since I can't attack your monster, I'll attack you instead. Gambol Shroud Dragon and Stygian Locomotive, attack Adam directly!" The two fly right through Ccapac Apu to hit Adam. (Adam 4000-3000-500). (Adam 2-1-0). "I then activate Stygian Locomotive's effect to banish both it and Gambol Shroud until my next turn. Until then, I can negate one attack for each monster banished besides Stygian Locomotive." The smoke from the fiend's train increases, covering both of Blake's monsters.

"You mean that if I draw a single monster with 800 or more attack points, I win." Adam said. "I like those odds. I draw!" (Blake 5-6, Adam 0-1). The card drawn wasn't a monster, but Adam still liked it. "I set a card and end my turn." My face-down is Brilliant Shine Art. If she attacks directly again, I can use it to redirect the attack to Ccapac Apu, winning me the duel. "Please, Adam. You have to believe me. You've got it all wrong!" Blake said.

"This again? Why are you so convinced I'm worth your time, anyway? I'm a dark signer now, we are enemies. You can't save me." Adam asked. "Because I refuse to believe that. I love you, and I'm never letting you go!" Blake declared, full of resolve. Her mark glowed even brighter, as did Ruby's, Yang's, Weiss's, and the mark on a fifth arm before they moved to Blake's back. "I draw!" (Blake 6-7, Adam 1-2). "Now, Gambol Shroud Dragon and Stygian Locomotive return!" The smoke disappears, revealing the two monsters. "I then summon Majestic Dragon!" (Level 1/0). "I now tune my level 8 Gambol Shroud Dragon and my level 1 Stygian Locomotive with my level 1 Majestic Dragon! The shadows envy the light's beauty, and so they form a wondrous union! Synchro Summon! Appear, Majestic Gambol Dragon!" A large black dragon with streaks of white across its body appears (Level 10/0).

"What is that thing?" Adam asks. "What's going to save you from the power of the underworld." Blake answered. "I activate Majestic Gambol Dragon's effect, banishing Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu until it leaves the field. Dark Light Capture!" The dragon flies around the giant, causing a trail of black and white to fall over Ccapac Apu. Once it's over, Ccapac Apu is petrified, its colors turned to gray. "While it's banished, Majestic Gambol Dragon can gain its powers." A white aura appears around the dragon, granting it the colors of its captor. (Majestic Gambol Dragon 0-3000). "Majestic Gambol Dragon, attack with Dance of Light and Dark!"

The dragon unleashes a technicolor beam onto Adam, covering him in many colors. He sees a vision inside the beam, of Blake approaching the officer all those years ago. "I'm here to make a confession. I'm the one behind the bombings. Take me, but let him go." The past Blake says. The officer laughs it off. "That won't be necessary. We've already caught him." He puts his hand on her shoulder and points over to two officers escorting Adam away. The past Adam sees them and tries to charge forward, but is caught by his escorts. "Blake, you traitor! You'll suffer for this, you hear me? YOU'LL PAY!" The vision ends there.

She never did betray me? The present Adam realizes. He tries to stop his duel runner, but before he can, Ccapac Apu breaks free from its prison and reaches for him. Blake tries to drive into him to take his place, but she isn't fast enough. Adam is dragged into the flames, looking at Blake with a single tear in his eye. "I'm sorry, Blake. Now go, save everyone else." he says before disappearing.

All around Blake, souls are returned to their original place, including Martha and her children. The flames disappear, so Ruby and the others turn off the tower. But to Blake, who gets off her duel runner to yell, she has failed her one mission in all off this.
