Hello, my lovely readers! We are back with a new chapter!
This is the season one finale and let me reiterate; even though the story will be complete, the series isn't over. We still got two more seasons left and a ton of crazy adventures! I will be taking a break for the holidays and post the first episode of season two on New Years Day.
That's the plan and I'm sticking to it.
Anyway, let's continue our story...
Season 1, episode 19 Season finale:
My Unlucky Charm
"It's not in here." Cuphead announced as he and Mugman looked in a cabinet.
It was another peaceful day in Inkwell. Audrey and Josh had headed off to work a few hours ago leaving the boys with Elder Kettle. After having lunch, the boys wanted some cookies. However, they weren't having much luck as they couldn't find it.
I should also let you know that Elder Kettle does not share his cookies. Like, what kind of parenting is that? Not sharing your cookies with your kids? At least my mother would share her fries!
Most of the time.
Anyway, the boys groaned in annoyance.
"He moved it again." Mugman stated. "Let's check somewhere else."
Closing the cabinet door, the boys proceeded to look in other locations. They figured it was in the kitchen, so they looked in different places like the freezer. When they opened it, they saw it was empty.
"Nope. Not here." Cuphead replied.
They ventured out of the kitchen and into the living room. Mugman looked under the sofa cushion, don't know why Kettle would stash it in there, but that's just me, and found nothing but an old lollipop and peppermint wheel stuck under the cushions.
"Not under here either." Mugman claimed.
Seeing no other option, they decided to check Elder Kettle's bedroom. They had to be extra careful since he was snoozing in there, and could wake up to really loud noises. They carefully opened the door and peered in.
There on a high shelf next to a few books was the cookie jar.
"Bingo!" Cuphead whispered.
They crept near the foot of the bed and Cuphead gave his brother the signal pointing up. Mugman got the idea and clasped his hands together for Cuphead to step on them for a boost.
Unfortunately, as Cuphead stepped onto the nightstand, he also stepped on Kettle's glasses, breaking them. That didn't wake Kettle, thankfully, but they knew they were in huge trouble if he found out.
Without hesitation, the boys rushed downstairs, examining the broken glasses. They knew they had to fix it, or Kettle would get mad at them.
"Aw, jeez." Mugman gulped. "We really did it this time."
"We gotta get these fixed before Elder Kettle wakes up." Cuphead informed his brother. "The sooner we get them fixed, the sooner we can get them back."
Just then, they heard their caretaker yawn, as he headed down the hallway. The boys freaked out and ran into each other, before scattering and came up with a plan.
"Boys, have you seen my glasses?" Kettle asked, walking down the stairs. Once he got down, he walked right into the wall with a loud thud. He neared the entrance to the living room, his eyes squinted and hands moving around, like looking for a light in a dark room.
"No, no, Kettle. You lost 'em somewhere." He sighed, still moving his hands around. "Just like you-"
WHAM! He then slammed right into the wall leading to the living room.
"...Always do." He grunted, adjusting his long nose. He walked a bit some more and then saw what seemed to be Cuphead and Mugman sitting on the couch. Walking towards them he replied.
"Oh! There you are." Okay, boys. Listen. Stay put. I'll find 'em." Last thing I need is you two stepping on 'em. Got it?"
Now, I should let you know; the boys had made dummies of themselves, using buckets and flour to make it look like they were still home. They even drew faces on the buckets just to add more details.
Normally, when a child does not respond to his or her parents, that usually would indicate something happened or they ignored them completely. But for Kettle, hearing that brought him joy.
"Wow. You're actually listening for once." He beamed, wiping a tear from his eye. "Thank you, boys."
He began looking around for his glasses once more, but then he ran into a wall and hit the ground.
"Ow!"
Moments later, the boys hurried into the city and found the nearest optician store. It was a brown brick building several stories high, with various windows, an enormous glasses decor over the entrance, and a display case on the first floor revealing a variety of glasses.
Inside was a spacious area, filled with racks of eyewear and cabinets. The boys were at the counter where the clerk of the store examined the glasses with an annoyed look.
It was an anthropomorphic screwdriver with a face at the top and arms around 50% of the way down from her tip to the top of her handle with a maroon color . Her outfit consisted of a pale yellow blouse with short, puffy sleeves, and white gloves.
"Let me get this straight. You mean to tell me you two couldn't get a cookie jar from a sleeping old man?" She asked, irritated.
Not wanting to go into details about the incident, Cuphead impatiently asked "Look, lady, can you fix 'em or not?"
"Of course. But I don't like your tone." She informed him. "Hmph!" She then turned around and hopped over to the large magnifying glass. She began to examine the glasses, not knowing that Cuphead stuck his tongue out at her.
Just then, the faint sound of peppy music began to play from outside.
"Kindly turn that down." The clerk ordered. "I hate music!"
"We're not playing music." Both brothers informed her.
They were confused. Where was that music coming from? Just then, the music got louder and louder until the doors flung open and someone tapped their way inside.
It was a girl about their age, with the head of a golden chalice, who had a golden straw in her head, and eyes similar to Mugman's. She wore a black shirt with a white collar, white gloves, a seafoam green skirt, and a pair of orange Mary Janes.
*New song: "Dance across a rainbow!*
Chalice: When you're blue and feeling down, you gotta spread that sunshine all around!
*She jumped and rode on the large ladder before jumping off and landing on the counter, tapping her heels at a vigorous pace.
Chalice: You gotta turn that frown, upside down, and sail across a rainbow!
*She grasped the hands of the clerk, who was anything but happy to see her, but after she gave her a quick twirl, her mood suddenly changed. The Chalice then slid across the counter and did a quick tap dance.
Chalice: Rat-ta-ta-ta!
*She did a quick tap dance before sliding to the boys and playfully played drums on their heads with her gloved hands. She then slid back to the clerk who was happily dancing and snapping her fingers to the tune.
Chalice: When the world is saying "no", don't waste your time, feelin' low!
*She spun around the glasses display and once it stopped she pointed to the pair of sunglasses, which the clerk happily gave her.
Chalice: Click your heels, go, go, go, and dance across a rain-bow!
*She then leapt into the air, and landed near the door, clattering her heels before walking backwards out of the store, did a quick spin, and then vanished from sight leaving behind some confetti before the doors slammed shut
*End of song*
As the clerk continued to dance and hum happily to the catchy jingle, the cups were in absolute shock by what they saw. This girl just showed up out of scenic nowhere and did a whole dance and show.
Finally, Cuphead broke the silence by asking "What the heck was that?!"
They opened the door and peered out, hoping to find that girl, but she was nowhere in sight. Just then, they saw a bee police officer rush down the sidewalk shouting "Hey! Get back here!"
He came to a screeching halt near a pile of old supplies such as an old phonograph, mannequin, dresser with a broken mirror, a rolled up rug, chest, and other miscellaneous items. He additionally saw someone hunched over wearing an old cloth.
"You seen a chalice run past here?" He asked. The figure turned around and while he could not see their face, he saw that they wore big sunglasses, and held an old tin cup in their right hand while holding their cloak with the other.
The bee quickly caught his mistake and quickly stated "Oops. Uh, sorry."
He then placed a coin in the tin, tipped his hat while chuckling nervously and rushed off to find that chalice. However, he should have stayed longer, as the hooded figure flipped off the glasses and cloak on the mannequin, before tapping her way to a gumball machine.
Once there, she got her coin out, placed it on the slot and turned the knob, providing her with a green gumball. She popped it in her mouth and began to chew it happily.
She then tickled the machine, which was odd for the boys at first, but then, it turns out it was alive and began to laugh so hard, gumballs began to pour out of him. She then tapped away while a group of kids scampered to get the candy.
The boys were watching from a mailbox and decided to follow the chalice for the remainder of the day. They knew they had to pick up the glasses for Elder Kettle, but they figured they would have time on their hands.
While the boys kept an eye on the tap dancing girl, meanwhile, on the fire side of the city, Audrey, including Rumor, were at a dining area having lunch and having an interview with a film director.
The diner was an average space with checkerboard flooring and red and white walls, decorated with various pictures, photographs and posters.
There was a large counter with booths on the side along with coffee and soda machines, various types of liquor, glasses, ice cream topping dispensers, and cases filled with soda cans.
Around the restaurant there were table booths and there was a great conversation in the air, with many people dining and chatting with one another.
Audrey was sitting next to Rumor, while writing down notes in her notebook while her boss spoke with a client sitting in front of them.
It was an anthropomorphic rabbit with white fury and a white outline, wearing a brown suit and pants, matching fedora, black briefcase next to him and was sipping a cup of coffee.
"Well, I must say, Jack Rabbit. We are so excited about the upcoming films you are making." Rumor beamed. "I am a big fan of your work."
"Well, I do try and aim to please." Jack chuckled. "I know the new films won't be out for a while, but we are trying to get things wrapped up quickly."
"We are in the final bit of editing and cleaning up." Jack informed them. "It's action packed, thrills, romance and of course comedy. You enjoy movies like that, Mrs. Anderson?"
"Oh yes!" Audrey replied. "I love watching those kinds of films. Keeps me on the edge of my seat."
"That is what we are going for." Jack stated. "We want to make the audience feel like they're part of the action and can feel the excitement in the air. I will let you know when the film is out so we can get a review later."
"Perfect!" Rumor smiled. "We're looking forward to your next big hit."
Jack nodded and then a server came with a check, placing it on the table. Rumor started to take her purse out, when Jack announced "No no. I got this."
"You sure? We'd be more than happy to cover the cost." Audrey mentioned.
"Yeah it's not a big deal." He assured her. "Besides, we just had light snacks."
"Well, that's very sweet of you." Rumor replied. "We also want to thank you again for meeting with us."
Jack nodded, paid the bill, shook hands and bidded farewell, heading out the door. Rumor took a happy sigh as Audrey finished her soda.
"I want to thank you for your time, Audrey. I know you have a ton of things to do and I appreciate your help."
"Oh it's no worries." Audrey assured her. "I'm more than happy to lend you a hand."
"Glad to hear." Rumor replied. "Why don't you take the rest of the day off? We can start writing the article tomorrow. Besides, I have to work on a few things and those are very important."
"Well, ok. If you say it's alright, then I guess I can head home."
"Awesome. I'll see you in the office."
Rumor slid out of her seat, bid her goodbye and headed out. Audrey was left alone and decided to take time finishing her soda. It was nice to hear the constant chatting and music that was around. It made her wonder what was on everyone's mind and what the latest news was.
As she finished her drink, suddenly another server approached her and announced "Excuse me, miss, but a phone call is waiting for you at the front counter."
"Oh, thank you." Audrey stated.
She got up and headed to the front counter and sure enough there was a phone there. She went over and answered it. "Hello?"
"Hey, Audie. It's Josh." The other end replied.
"Oh, hey what's up?" Audrey asked.
"Nothing much. I wanted to let you know that a few guys and I are going out for dinner tonight." Josh answered. "I know it was my turn to cook dinner, but I promised the guys some dinner since we've been swamped with work."
"No worries. Since Elder Kettle's wounds are healed, I can stop by the house and ask what his thoughts are for dinner." Audrey mentioned. "You can go and have fun."
"Really? Oh man, I love you." Josh sighed. "I promise I'll bring you back a slice of cake."
Audrey giggled. "You're funny and thanks. I'll come up with something. Oh and can you please make sure the slice is chocolate?"
"One slice of chocolate, coming up." Josh replied. "Thanks again. I promise I will make dinner next time."
"All good." Audrey chuckled. "Love you."
"Love you too."
She then hung up and sighed. Since they first got married, she and Josh tried to help each other with things around the house. Sometimes Josh cooked meals while Audrey worked on finances and vice versa.
They are not a perfect couple. They still had their battles, and debated about a few things, but they always tried to find common ground. It was stressful since they were still newlyweds but that doesn't stop them from trying their best.
"Now that I have some free time, I think I'll go to a cafe for a bit and do some reading." Audrey thought. "I would like to try the one Sally suggested…"
As Audrey departed to the cafe, with the boys, they followed around the chalice for a bit, seeing how she was able to get free stuff like a hot dog and access to the movies.
They saw her depart the theater and out the exit door. They followed her and found themselves in an alley, but saw no sign of her.
"Hey, where'd she go?" Cuphead asked.
"I don't know." Mugman shrugged. "She was here, and now she's gone.
"It's like she just disappeared…" Cuphead pondered, placing his hands on his hips. Without warning, they felt a hand grab their shirts and yanked them hard, pinning them to the wall. Sure enough, she didn't leave but she was ticked off.
"All right, who are you two working for?!" She demanded.
"W-working?" Cuphead trembled. "We don't have jobs."
"Yeah. W-we're just a couple of dum-dums." Mugman quickly replied, his voice shaking.
"Zip it, ding-dong. She don't gotta know we're dum-dums." Cuphead whispered sharply at him.
"Why are you following me?" She asked. "Spill the beans or you'll be spilling milk!"
"We just wanna learn how you get so much free stuff." Cuphead answered.
"And maybe hang out?" Mugman added. "That's all, Ms…?"
"The name's Chalice. Ms. Chalice". She replied, placing them on the ground. "But listen you don't wanna get mixed up with a gal like me. This chalice is nothing but trouble."
"We love trouble!" Cuphead beamed with excitement.
"We do?" Mugman asked, arching an eyebrow at him.
"Yeah. Why, just this morning, we decided to steal cookies from our elderly caretaker." Cuphead informed Chalice, rubbing his pointer and thumb together.
"When you put it like that, I suppose we do love trouble." Mugman added in a sly tone.
Chalice gave a light chuckle and playfully rolled her eyes.
"Oh, brother. Looks like I got a couple of real degenerates on my hands."
"Yup. Degenerates." Cuphead proudly responded.
I don't think he knows what that means. I mean granted, he's ten, but still.
"We didn't.. actually get the cookies though." Mugman glumly claimed.
"Hey!" Cuphead argued. "Why'd ya tell her that?"
"What? We need her help." Mugman claimed. "We might as well be honest."
"One thing you gotta know about me; I get by without partners, friends, anyone or anything." Chalice explained, crossing her arms across her chest and turning her back on them. "This is a solo act. A one-person show."
"Aw!" Both brothers whined.
Chalice then glanced back at them and a smug smile came upon her face. "But your pathetic story charms me. Wanna know how I do what I do?"
"Yeah!" They beamed with delight.
"You really wanna know?" Chalice asked, now facing them.
"Uh-huh! Uh-huh!" They nodded eagerly.
"Okay, then. Pay attention." She instructed them.
Now, I could do this the boring way and have her just talk about it…or we can do it in a cool catchy song that's bound to land on Spotify!
Spoiler; it did.
Alright, give me that catchy song!
*New Song: Turnin' up the old Charm!*
Chalice: You gotta slap on a smile, Throw in some pep!
*She smiled brightly and jumped on a wooden box, tap dancing on it.
Chalice: And be sure to put a spring in your step, 'cause you can get anything by turning up the charm.
*She danced around a few times on the box and then dug her index finger in her cheek, moving her hand up and down.
Chalice: You gotta kick up your heels, hands in the sky
*She then headed out of the alley, with the boys following behind her, as she saw someone holding a bouquet of flowers. She slipped a purple one out which shocked the boys.
Chalice: And don't forget the little glint in your eye, 'cause you can get what you want if you follow this simple rule!
*She gave a wink which made a star appear as she placed the flower in the coat of an anthropomorphic rat, who perked up, opening the taxi door for them.
Chalice: And if you're charming enough, they'll give you free stuff, and they'll all do what you say.
*Once in the taxi, they drove off, with Chalice at the wheel and both brothers hanging out of the windows as they drove past the two elderly elephants who were eating ice cream
Chalice: And since no one's the wiser, you can have it your way.
*They zipped by and snagged the ice cream and the two brothers ate with delight.
Chalice: With the wink of an eye, and the flick of a wrist, hey, I think you're really gettin' the gist!
*While holding a cone of her own, she pressed her foot on the gas and sped off. After turning, they had to come to a halt due to the long line of traffic.
Chalice: 'Bout how I charm the pants of this here town!
*She then slipped to the roof of the car and got the boys on the roof. The trio tapped dance and hopped from various cars, as the boys tried to imitate Chalice and her moves.
Chalice: I think you're getting the hang of this, but here's one final tip: Before they can get wise to you, give them the slip!
*They skipped over from car to car, but stopped as Chalice tapped her foot on one vehicle and leaned close, speaking to them in a whisper
Chalice: Gotta slap on a smile, throw in some pep,
*They jumped from the hoods of the car and landed in a huge parade float. Chalice had a crown placed on her head, a white sash around her upper body and held a blue striped baton. The boys were very excited to be in the parade.
*Break in Song*
While they were having a blast, meanwhile, Audrey had stopped by a cafe on her way home and headed inside.
The area was a welcoming environment, with its warm brown flooring, the light cream walls decorated with shelves filled with books and coffee decor. There was a large lamp on the ceiling and other photos hung on the walls.
The smell of fresh coffee filled her nose and the sound of the light jazz filled the air as she saw the many tables and people chatting or reading books.
She headed to the counter and skimmed over the menu.
"Hi, what can I get ya?" The cashier asked.
"I'll do a cup of English breakfast tea with milk and sugar please." Audrey answered. "And I would like a chocolate croissant."
"Of course. Anything else?" He asked.
"No, that's all, thank you."
She paid the cashier and took her order out to the outdoor seating area. There was an empty seat and table and Audrey sat down, pulling out her book.
Back in her college days, whenever she had a day off or just got out of class, she would go to the cafe for a nice drink and a good read. Helped her relax and focus in a calm area.
As she took a sip of her tea, she then heard the sound of many people cheering and loud music began to fill the air. She looked and saw a huge crowd of people standing on the sidewalk.
Curious, she went over to see what was going on. Turns out, it was a parade, as she saw many floats, balloons, and many more.
"Wow this is so cool!" Audrey giggled. "I know it's not as huge as the Disney padres in the Magic Kingdom but it's still cool. We got a band, baton twirlers, floats, Cuphead and Mugman playing around on one, and even-wait, Cuphead and Mugman?!"
She was in complete shock as she saw the boys dancing around on a float. To add to that, she saw that they were accompanied by Chalice. She noticed that she had different features, smaller ones compared to the book, and heard them singing.
*Continue song*
Chalice: So please remember to never forget, you can get anything by turning up the charm!
*She then danced off the platform she was on and struck the baton on the ground, making a flame appear as they found out it was a large match.
Chalice, Cuphead, and Mugman: You can get anything by turning up the charm!
*She then lit the rockets, launching them into the sky as they blew up into fireworks, as they gave a final pose.
*End of song*
The fireworks burst in the sky, making the audience cheer and applaud. The boys were grinning ear to ear, as they looked out at the people. The three of them took a bow and hopped off the float, vanishing in the crowd.
Audrey scooted past the people, and followed the three cups down the street. She thought she lost them for a second but then, she heard them giggle and laugh nearby. She saw them in an alleyway, talking excitedly about what happened.
"Wow! I can't believe we did that!" Cuphead smiled.
"I've always loved going to the parade, but being in one was a dream come true!" Mugman squealed.
"Couldn't agree more." Chalice smiled. "Got goosebumps after that firework show."
They continued to laugh and chatter about the recent events when they heard "Boys? What are you doing here?"
They looked and saw Audrey approach them. She wasn't angry but was pretty confused.
"Oh, hi Audrey!" the boys smiled.
"Hi, uh, what brings you boys to the city?" She asked. "And does Elder Kettle know about this?"
"Well, you see, we were trying to get some of his cookies." Cuphead started.
"But we accidentally broke his glasses when we were trying to get them from his room." Mugman added.
"We went to get them fixed and we saw Chalice get some free stuff."
"So, we asked if she could teach us how to 'charm' people."
"Charm people?" Audrey asked, arching an eyebrow.
"Oh yeah! First we have to smile, throw some pep, click heels, hands in the sky, wink, flick, and then give them the slip!" Cuphead recited.
"Wait, wait, wait, give them the slip?" Audrey repeated. "You mean you're stealing?!"
"Oh no no no it ain't stealin', girlfriend." Chalice insisted. "It's just a way to ya know bring a little spice to things."
"I wouldn't call conning people 'spicing things up.'" Audrey bluntly stated. "But it looks like you two didn't actually steal anything which is good."
"We're sorry, Miss Audrey." Mugman sighed. "We just also wanted to hangout with her, trying to be cool."
"You don't have to be cool to hang out with other people." Audrey assured him, kneeling to his level. "Being you is the best thing anyone could ask for."
He began to blush, feeling a bit better.
She stood up and stated "How about the four of us get ice cream? I think buying it would be better."
The three nodded and followed Audrey to the nearest ice cream shop.
A few hours later, the group was heading down the dirt road, chatting about the day. The strange thing was during that time, Chalice didn't mention where she lived or what her folks did.
She couldn't remember if Chalice from the book ever mentioned her past, but since they had other things to tackle, Audrey figured it wasn't that big of a deal.
"What a day." Mugman sighed, stretching his arms a bit.
"You said it." Cuphead chimed in.
"I gotta admit, I don't usually stick around in one place this long." Chalice mentioned. She then placed her arms around the boys' necks and stopped, making the group stop, a bit confused. "But you two are kinda fun. Ready for your test?"
"Test?!" Both brothers replied, a bit startled.
"Whoa, whoa. What test?" Audrey asked. "No one said anything about a test."
"Come on. You boys are naturals!" Chalice assured them. "It's gonna be a breeze."
She then guided them to a large tree where leaves were hanging down blocking their path.
"All you gotta do is charm your way past that guy."
She pulled back the leaves and saw that there was a bear security guard, standing outside a large building. The sign and lights were not lit up so it was hard to see what was in there.
Audrey did not like this one bit. She began having a very bad feeling about this whole thing. She didn't know if Chalice was doing this to make them impress her or what, but breaking into a factory is not a good idea.
Chalice could see the concern looks on their faces so she announced "Get inside and there's a surprise."
"Surprise? We love surprises!" They giggled.
They began to head over when Audrey pulled them back.
"Ok, no we are not doing that." Audrey sternly remarked.
"What? Why?" They whined.
"Yeah, come on, girlfriend." Chalice commented. "No one is going to get in trouble."
"Look, it's one thing to charm people into giving you stuff, but breaking into a factory and getting who-knows-what is a huge no-no!" Audrey informed them. "We should just walk away from this and avoid any issues. We do not want an angry mob to come after us."
And it did. Well, that's for later.
"An angry mob wouldn't come after us." Chalice assured her. "We'll be in and out. You don't want to disappoint them."
She then gestured to the boys who gave her the puppy-eyed look, whimpering a bit. She knew that many children have given her that look, mostly her cousins, in order to get another cookie or stay up later. Normally stuff like that wouldn't bother her, but this was a situation that could get them in a lot of trouble.
"Look, if it makes ya feel better, we'll be in and out. We promise." Chalice claimed.
"Well, I guess if its quick, but I still don't-"
"Thanks, Audrey!" The three called out, rushing to the factory.
"Wait! No! Stop! Ugh, unbelievable." She groaned as she bolted towards them. The boys then tapped the bear on the shoulder, which got his attention.
At first, he wasn't sure what they were doing, not thinking much about it, but then they started doing a cute little tap dance.
Now from where Audrey was watching, the two seem to be doing a good job, despite not being completely fluent in dancing, but the bear was not even moved by it. He began to reach for his baton which made the boys nervous and dance faster, trying to impress him.
Chalice saw what was about to go down, when she decided to step in. Or tap in, I should say.
She began to work her magic, which made the bear very impressed. The boys, not seeing her, gained more confidence, and the security guard opened the door for them.
Once the three were inside, Audrey managed to slip in before the doors closed shut. She gasped and panted, trying to catch her breath as the boys were in awe of 'their' performance. It was a bit dark and hard to know what was inside.
"Hey, it worked!" Cuphead beamed.
"We are charming." Mugman added.
Audrey playfully rolled her eyes. They were smart in their own ways, but often clueless in others, and this was one of those moments.
Just then Chalice, who was on the second level, announced "Great job, boys. Now here's your surprise!"
She turned and walked to a large control panel and pulled down several handles, causing the lights to flash on.
There was a loud buzzing noise coming from the conveyor belt behind them and the rest of the lights flashed on, as well as a few other conveyor belts.
Audrey could have sworn she smelled something sweet in the air and it became very clear to them where they were at.
"Is this a-" Mugman started.
The remaining lights flashed on and they saw where they were.
"Cookie factory!" they cried.
"Sweet mother of Baby Jesus, this place is huge!" Audrey gasped, gazing around the place.
"That's right. And it's all-you-can-eat." Chalice beamed. She began flipping switches and pressed various buttons on the control panel. The conveyor belt began to move and chocolate cookies began to pour out.
The boys grabbed one, dunked it in their heads, which made Audrey look at them oddly and ate it.
They began scarfing down more like there was no tomorrow. Audrey picked one up and took a bite. It was really good, but she still didn't like the idea of them breaking into a cookie factory and eating from there.
Chalice, who was munching on a cookie sitting on the end of a transporter, chuckled at the sight.
"Gee, what a couple of ding-dongs." She smiled.
However, their celebration was short-lived when unexpectedly there were flashing blue and red lights, as well as a police siren. Now, she began to panic.
"Cheese it, fellas! The cops!"
"Cops?!" Both brothers cried their mouths stuffed with cookies.
"Cops?!" Audrey cried, nearly choking on her cookie.
"This is the police!" An officer called from the other end of the door. "We have you surrounded!"
They started to pound on the door, attempting to bust in. Audrey frantically looked around the area, trying to see if there was another way out, or to try and talk to the officers.
The group began to freak out, as they should, and during the confusion and seeing the boys run around in circles, Audrey then felt someone quickly clamp a hand over her mouth with one hand and felt an arm wrap around her waist with the other.
She gave a muffled scream, trying to escape her captor but panicked when she saw that it was not a hand that grabbed her.
But a claw.
She also heard a terrible, familiar voice whisper lustfully in her ear;
"You're all mine now."
She felt her heart stop. She knew who that was.
Without missing a beat, he teleported with Audrey in tow.
The boys, not seeing her kidnapped, continued to run in terror, when they slammed into each other and fell to the ground, knocking themselves out.
Chalice gasped and rushed over to them, shaking them to wake up.
"Come on! Get up!" She panicked. "We gotta scram!" She tried to get them up, but they were not responding, and Audrey was nowhere in sight. The cops were still pounding the door, harder and harder, threatening to bust in at any second.
"Sorry, boys. I like ya, but not enough to tangle with the cops." Chalice sighed. She slipped off and headed to a wall in the factory. She looked back with a saf look before sadly claiming "So long, fellas."
Then, she turned into a light blue translucent, with her skirt now becoming a long tail. She then slipped out of the factory without another word. As soon as she departed, the boys woke up, rubbing their heads and groaned.
"My mug…" Mugman winced.
"Oh, what happened?" Cuphead asked, rubbing his head. He looked around and saw that Chalice and Audrey were gone. "Where's Chalice and Audrey?"
As Mugman was about to answer that, the doors slammed open and three bee police men entered, seeing red.
"You're under arrest!" One of them barked.
The boys freaked out and attempted to dance their way out of this, hoping to charm themselves out, just like Chalice taught them. The cops were completely unfazed and grabbed them.
Next thing they knew, they found themselves wearing black and white striped clothing, as well as on their straws, locked in a jail cell. They were speechless and baffled about their situation.
They weren't the only ones in a tight spot.
In the Underworld, the Devil carried Audrey over his shoulder, and brought her to her guestroom, as she struggled, pounded and screamed "Let me go! Put me down! The boys need me!"
He placed her on her bed and grasped her chin, smiling lustfully at her.
"The brats are your least concern right now." He sneered. "You are now a permanent resident of the underworld and soon, you will be my queen."
"Never!" Audrey shouted, jerking her chin away. "You will never have me, and I'll never live here!"
"We'll see about that." The Devil remarked. "I'll be back in a bit to check on you. Don't want my blushing bride to slip away."
He grabbed his pitchfork and headed towards the door but stopped at the entrance.
"Oh, and if you refuse me again, I'll make sure that the so-called husband of yours wishes he was never born!"
He then cackled and slammed the door shut, locking it. Audrey rushed to the door and grabbed the handle, pulling and jerking it as hard as she could. She had no luck and gave up.
As she retreated back to the bed, she began to worry about Cuphead and Mugman. She had no idea that they were in jail and she had no clue where Chalice was either.
"One thing is certain; she knows how to charm her way into getting things and getting people into trouble."
And they didn't know half of it.
To be continued…
Oh, man! This isn't looking good! The boys are in jail and Audrey is held against her will! Will the boys bust out or are they doomed to remain in the big house for life?! And will Audrey escape or will the Devil finally have her as his queen? "Toon" in next time for another thrilling adventure!
