A/N: For the sake of argument, let's say the legal drinking age is 18 in this fic. Enjoy!
DW.618: I actually read about the four personalities from a man's perspective, but modified it a little to where it made more sense. I don't remember what the original version was, but I figured this one was more relatable lol Glad you enjoyed it. I was dying laughing when I first heard it, too!

Chapter 6: Owning Up Pt. 1
The ride over to his place was a quiet one. Neither one of us really had anything to say. I was beyond nervous. I hadn't stayed over at another man's house; not even Poe's. I'd always had my own place, or Maz's place. I stared out the window as he drove to his place. I didn't even know if it was a house or an apartment or something else. It looked to be a decent neighborhood, in all honesty. The houses were beautiful. They were the picturesque two-story buildings with small front yards and a garage with a bit of space between you and your neighbors.
Ben pulled into the driveway of one of the houses and parked the car, glancing over at me with a small smirk. "Excuse the mess. I left in a hurry," he admitted as he turned the car off, handed me my keys, and got out of the car. I hesitantly followed him, far too nervous to formulate words at the current moment and far more anxious than I'd like to admit. I barely heard him retrieving my bag from the trunk, shutting it softly as he walked up next to me on the lead-up. He walked up to the door and typed in a code on the keypad, earning three beeps and a disengaging bolt as a reward. I followed him inside, hesitantly looking around.
It was beautiful. We walked into a foyer-like area. Stairs were to the right with a closet built into the staircase. Directly in front of us was the living room. There was a TV way bigger than mine on the wall above a fireplace. There were seating all around a coffee table, from what I could tell. If my feet could cooperate, I would move inside and not stand at the door. The couches were black leather, but simple. I hesitantly walked forward, hearing him messing around in the house. When I got to the end of the hallway, I looked to my right and saw a kitchen; a big one. It was so beautiful. Lots of counter space, stainless steel appliances, big single basin sink, rugs over hardwood floors, the whole thing. I felt like I was in a B&B with how beautiful his house was.
I glanced to the other side and saw a bedroom. The light was off, but it looked about the size of mine. I wondered if that was where I would be sleeping tonight... "There's three bedrooms; one downstairs and two up. Take your pick," he said, which made me just about jump out my skin. He chuckled lightly. "Is everything all right?"
I nodded curtly. "Yeah, I'm fine." I looked over at him and saw him offer me a cup of tea. I smiled at him and took it quietly. "Your house is beautiful, Ben."
He looked around, as if he were seeing it for the first time and shrugged. "Dad left it for mom. Mom was going to sell it and move closer to her job, but decided to leave it to me. It's nice, but it's big."
I nodded thoughtfully. I could understand that. It's a lot to keep up with. "Either way... it's really nice."
"Thanks," he said as he walked to the couch and flopped down on one. I looked at the walls in silence, seeing all the pictures that lined the walls. There were pictures of Ben when he was smaller. It looked like graduation pictures from elementary school, middle school and high school. I smiled softly at them. Moving on, there was a family picture of him, his mom and his dad, I assumed. His mom didn't really smile; it looked more like a polite grin if anything. His dad though... Ben had definitely gotten his father's grin. I just stared at it for a minute, seeing a young Ben grinning just like his dad. "When you're done looking at ghosts, you can come sit," he called from the living room. The tone of his voice made me realize he was uncomfortable with me looking.
I turned on my heel and walked over to the couch, sitting on the other side of the same couch, pulling my knees to my chest and cradling my cup of tea in my hands. "You look just like your dad."
Ben scoffed. "I suppose you're right." He thought in silence for a moment and let out a soft sigh. "It would probably be better if you were to stay upstairs. The bathroom is next to the room so you wouldn't have to run up the stairs in the middle of the night. The room's bigger, too."
"Okay," I replied as I sipped my tea.
"Are you all right?"
"Yeah, I'm all right."
Ben paused for a moment. I knew he knew something was off, but I couldn't even place it at the moment. Maybe I was just nervous about being here. "Want me to call the gang and see if they want to come over and play? I'm sure they'd jump at a chance to come drink at no expense," he teased.
I thought about it long and hard for a moment. Would it be a better idea to have them come over? Or would it be better to just be me and him? I couldn't tell. Ultimately, I smiled at him. "Whatever you want to do. If they're coming, I'll order pizza."
He gave me a lopsided grin, but it didn't reach his eyes. He stood and walked into the kitchen, making a few phone calls in private. I stayed where I was and sighed as I looked up pizza places nearby. I barely heard him talking on the phone, but what I heard was Ben saying, "She's clearly uncomfortable. I think it would do some good to have you guys over for game night." I smiled at that. He was so considerate. After a few minutes, the gang had been called and Ben settled back on the couch next to me. "Everyone's coming, including Zorii."
My eyes widened at that. "Even Zorii? That's a treat. How did you swing that?" I asked, already knowing the answer. Zorii, though she didn't really participate in childish games that Poe liked, was a good person at heart and was almost as motherly as Jyn. Zorii tended to not show it as often though. I knew as soon as Ben said I was uncomfortable, that would have sold her.
Ben shrugged. "She likes you. And she may want to try to embarrass Poe." I laughed for a minute and looked back down at my phone. "If you're looking for a good place, I suggest Ren's. They're pretty quick and not too bad either."
I nodded and tapped the phone number, dialing it quietly. The guy on the other end was gruff, but I managed to order three pizzas, earning a laugh from Ben, though I didn't know why. I paid for it with my card, hung up, and looked at him as if he'd lost his mind. "What's so funny?"
"You ordered three large pizzas?" he asked with a grin. I nodded. "We'll be eating on that for days."
My eyes widened at that. Was he for real? "That explains why it was so expensive..." I murmured. Apparently, large didn't mean large with Ren's. Apparently, large meant monster. Oh, well. Ben liked pizza and Poe and Finn could eat to their hearts content, so it was worth it.
"Let's play a game while we wait," he suggested, a small smirk on his lips.
"The one you mentioned before?" I asked, earning a nod. "Ok. How do I play?"
"It's just like truth or dare, but if you refuse to answer a question or do the dare, you have to take a drink. Oh, speaking of..." he said as he got up and went into the kitchen. "Wine or liquor or beer?" he called from the kitchen.
"Um... I don't care... Whichever. Just not beer." Truth was, I hadn't really drank before. I had beer, but it was disgusting. I heard glass clanking together and the sound of a full bottle being clanked, too. What was I getting into? He returned with a bottle of wine and two glasses. He handed me one glass and set the others on the table. "Thanks..."
"Don't thank me yet. You still have to try it. If you don't like it, we'll just have to find something you do."
I blushed at him. Why was he willing to go to such lengths to find out what I liked and didn't like? He popped the wine bottle open and poured me a little in the glass that I held. As he poured, his hand laid atop mine, helping me steady it. He didn't think anything of it, from what it looked like, but my heart was already racing. He only poured a little, but when he was done, he released my hand and looked at me with a grin. I held the glass to my face and sniffed. It smelled sweet, but sour. It was reddish-pink. It looked like carbonated strawberry lemonade, if I had to be honest. I took a sip and blinked a few times as I let the taste settle. It was sweet. Almost like a dessert. I looked at him and then at the bottle, reading the label: Moscato. "I like that."
"Great. Now we can play," he said as he poured more in my glass and poured a glass for himself. "If you refuse, just a sip. It tastes good, but the alcohol content is pretty high." I nodded and waited for him to start. "Truth or Dare?"
I thought about it for a moment. Supposing I'd play it safe, I decided on truth. "Truth."
"What's wrong with you?" I looked at him, my eyes wide, as I tried to process the question. I didn't know what he meant by that. Was he offended? "I mean, what's wrong? Ever since you walked in here, you've been acting... odd."
"Oh," I said in a small voice. Now or never, Rey. "I'm nervous. I haven't stayed at a man's house before. It's always been my place or Maz's." He nodded and waved his hand at me, signaling it was my turn. "Truth or Dare?"
"Truth."
I looked at him for a moment. "Earlier, when I was looking at the pictures... you called them ghosts. Why?" I saw the expression change in his eyes then. His jaw tightened and he sighed before taking a drink of his wine.
"Sorry. Not ready for that," he said with a small sad smirk. I nodded, slowly learning what was off limits. It must have been a very touchy subject for him. "How about we just ask truths, and we can move on to dares later?" I nodded, finding that a little more acceptable. I wanted to know more about him, if he'd let me. "Do you love Finn?"
My eyes widened and my mouth opened in shock. "W-what?" He stared hard at me. Was he trying to get a feel for my boundaries? "No; he's just a friend. I've never had feelings for him." He nodded, eying me like a cat did with a mouse. "Have you ever loved anyone before, like relationship-wise?"
Ben snickered. "Nope. Do you have a crush on someone right now?"
I blushed hard at that. I didn't want him to ask me who. I wasn't ready to tell him that yet. I took a drink and averted my sight, earning a soft chuckle from him. He knew I'd drink... little weasel. "Do you have a crush on anyone right now?"
"Ahhh... that's the question, isn't it, Sunny?" he asked as he took a drink again. Darn. I thought he'd answer that. "Tell me about your first kiss."
There was that dark look again. He stared straight through me, as if analyzing every part of me. It sent a shiver down my spine. "It's complicated..."
"Ok... let me rephrase that. Tell me about your first kiss on the lips."
I blushed and looked at him shyly. "It... hasn't happened yet." His face changed at that. It was one of knowing, but also one of surprise. And... excitement? "What was your first impression of me?"
Stupid, Rey! Stupid, stupid, stupid! Why did you ask something like that!? He hesitated for a moment, but sat up and set the wine glass down on the table. He thought about it, as if he were censoring his words, or choosing his words carefully to not give the wrong idea. "I could tell you were strong-willed. That you care about your friends, even though there aren't many of them." He glanced at me. "Do I need to cover appearance, too?" he teased. I shook my head, not ready for that. He snickered and shrugged. "What was your first impression of me?"
I looked at him for a moment and truly thought about it. I hummed to myself as I sought to find the right words that weren't too sappy or ridiculous. "You're a loner. The friends that you do have mean a lot to you. That whoever managed to capture your attention, be it friend or otherwise, would always be protected." I blushed as I gave him an honest opinion. I risked a glance out of the corner of my eye at him and saw him sitting with a blank expression. Had I been too honest? "What do you think about Poe's game?"
He rolled his eyes. "It's ridiculous. The consequences are stupid and the game itself was rigged." I smiled wide at that. My sentiments exactly. "What do you say we move on to dares?" I hesitated, but managed to nod anyway. "Let's start out easy. There's too much tension," he teased. I was slightly relieved. "Call the last person you texted and howl at them."
I deadpanned. "You're serious?"
He grinned. "Or drink."
I laughed and shook my head, but went through my text messages. I saw that the last person was Rose. I facepalmed. I groaned. But I called her. "Hey, Rey. We're on our way."
I looked at Ben and howled into the phone, hanging up as quickly as I could. He started laughing. My face burned. It was a nightmare. "I'm pretty sure I'll have to answer to that when she gets here..." Ben snickered again. "Tell me something you've never told anyone else before."
He looked at me for a minute and shook his head. "You're persistent."
"That doesn't count."
"Oh, but it does. I've never told anyone that they're persistent. Nice try, Sunny." I pouted, but couldn't argue. "Stay blindfolded until the pizza gets here." I blushed, but didn't fight it as he grabbed a bandana under the table and handed it to me. I wrapped it up and sighed as I put it on, tying it securely behind my head.
"Why-"
"That's not a dare. That's a question."
I huffed. "Fine. Kiss Poe's cheek when he gets here and tell him you've missed him."
Ben scoffed. "I'm drinking to that. No way am I kissing that moron," he said.
"How do I know you actually took a drink?"
All I heard was shifting and the couch dipping right next to me. His hand settled on my face, turning it to face him, I assumed. Next thing I knew, I could smell the wine on his breath. "I don't cheat," he said softly, his voice a soft growl. For some reason, this blindfold was changing things for me. I didn't like how intimate this all was. I couldn't see his face. My imagination ran wild. Was he looking at me? Why was he still so close to me? "Tell me what you're feeling."
I pressed my lips together. "Odd." I thought for a moment. "Nervous..." It was a hushed whisper, but it was enough for him to kiss my forehead. "Tell me why the blindfold."
"For the next dare. If you do it, you can take it off. If you don't, finish your glass."
"Okay."
I felt him shift again, his breath dangerously close to my face again. "Kiss me."
I let out a shaky breath I didn't realize I was holding. "Where?"
"I'll leave that up to you, Sunny," he purred in front of me. I couldn't see anything. All I had to go off of was that his lips were centimeters from mine. The easiest solution would be to just get it over with and kiss his lips, but if I wanted to not, it would be a mess having to find my way around his body with my hands. That was something I was completely ill-prepared for. I tried to steel my mind to just get it over with. It was just a kiss. So what if it was going to be my first? Most first kisses were terrible anyway. At least I would have something to write home about. Having Ben Solo as a first kiss wasn't exactly a loss. Prepared to kiss him, I heard the doorbell ring. We both jumped and he cursed under his breath. "Game over, Sunny," he said with a small playful ring to his voice.
I stayed where I was when he got up. I was too scared to take off the blindfold, and too scared to pull him back down to do what I'd made up my mind to do. That game had gotten way more intense than I was expecting. Was it because of the wine? It was really hot in here... I hesitantly reached up and took the blindfold off, holding it in my lap as I stared at the material in a daze. Things had gotten... really intense. Was this what it was like to spend the night at a guy's house? Was that expected? Had I made a mistake coming here? I bit my lip in thought.
He closed the door and walked into the kitchen with three huge pizza boxes, but I was still glued in my spot. I couldn't even really look at him. Was he disappointed, too? If he was, then why? Wasn't this just a game? He didn't really want me to kiss him, did he? I was so lost in thought that I hadn't heard him messing around or walking. He appeared at my side and offered a plate, making me jump in surprise. Glancing up at him, our eyes met and I could see amusement playing in his eyes, but also a side of regret and... apology? I took the plate from him with a small thanks. I set it on the table and followed him back to the kitchen, standing in the doorway with my arms crossed over my chest. "Tell me why you wanted me to kiss you."
Ben froze for a moment. Had he just gotten so caught up that he hadn't thought it through? Was his feelings talking through the wine? "I wanted to see if you would."
That's a lie. But it was a lie I was willing to accept at the moment. If I pushed it, what would I find out? Was I even ready for that? "I would have," I said softly.
He looked at me long and hard for what seemed like forever. "My loss then," he said with a lopsided smirk. He walked past me into the living room and sat on the couch quietly. After a few minutes, I followed and sat back in my spot. I picked at the pizza on the plate. He took slow, deliberate bites. Then, he set the plate down and sighed heavily, earning my full attention. "I'm sorry, Rey."
It was my turn to set my plate on the table then. I turned to him with a frown. "What for?"
"I let the game get out of hand. I almost... You almost..."
When I realized what he was trying to say, I gave him a shy smile. "Listen. If I didn't want to, I could have just as easily taken a drink."
"But you didn't take the drink because you were feeling pressured," he countered. "I pressured you."
"All right. I think it's time we were honest with each other, Ben." He flinched at my tone. I was sick of dancing around this. If he didn't feel the same, then so be it. I would still like to be his friend. If he did feel the same, then maybe we could work towards something together. Either way, it had to be acknowledged. I promised Jyn I would be honest if I felt something.
"What do you mean?"
"We both promised Jyn we'd be honest. Jyn told me that if I felt... something... I needed to put myself out there and say something about it to you." I paused, gathering my courage. "When you asked if I had a crush on someone right now, I didn't answer. But I do. I didn't answer because I didn't want you to ask me who. I wasn't ready to tell you yet. Ben... I have a crush on you. I don't love Finn; I don't love Poe; I don't love Cassian. I don't even know if I love you, but I know that I'm attracted to you and I like being around you. If you don't feel the same, then that's fine. At least I told you and got it out there. If you don't feel the same, then we can still be friends and I won't act weird or anything around you." When I was done with my little rant, I huffed and risked a glance at him.
He was still. He looked at me like a deer in headlights. I suppose it was taking him a moment to process what I'd just said. Or maybe he was finding a way to gently let me down. At this point, whatever happened, it couldn't be taken back. He opened his mouth to respond, but there was knocking at the door, causing him to shut his mouth quickly with a sigh. I couldn't help but be grateful for the distraction. It wasn't long before I heard Poe's loud mouth and everyone piling in to Ben's home. Let the games begin.
