Several hours later, the Dr. came out with news about Wolf. He had a blank look on his face. He didn't want to show that he had grim news.
Throttle was asleep in the chair when the Dr. came into the lobby. Prowl was awake and keeping Prime updated when he could. Prowl saw the Dr. walk in and stood up. He walked over to the Dr.
"I'll wake him after. What's her prognosis, Dr.?"
"Its not looking good, I'm afraid. We sent her for X-Rays, CT's and did an EKG, and she needs multiple surgeries. I'm not sure if she'll even make it through any of them."
"If she doesn't get the needed surgeries, what then?"
"She'll live another 6 months to a year, maybe. She's on a ventilator for now, but I think putting her in an assisted living place would be the best bet. If she has any family or friends, they may want to spend as much time with her as possible."
"Her father isn't going to like this news. Neither is he." Prowl thumbed over his shoulder towards Throttle.
"We'll keep her as comfortable as much as we can. I'm very sorry."
"Me too. I'll wake him and tell him the news. Thank you, Dr."
The Dr. nodded and headed back in the ED to check on the other patients. Prowl turned around and noticed that Throttle was waking up. He walked over and sat down.
"Has the Dr. come in yet?"
Prowl nodded his head.
"Well?"
"I think its best we get back to Autobot HQ so Prime can hear the news too."
"If you're wanting to wait, then it must be bad news."
"Unfortunately, it is bad news. That's why I want to wait 'til we're back at base."
"In a nutshell, Prowl. Please."
"Not right now. Prime needs to hear the news as well. Please be patient."
Throttle nodded then Prowl's holoform disappeared and Throttle walked out to Prowl's vehicle mode. He got in and they headed back to base. /%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
About an hour later, they arrived at the base. Prowl went the speed limit this time. He hated breaking the speed limit earlier, but it was an emergency.
Prowl stopped just outside of the base and let Throttle out, then transformed. They walked inside and headed for the control room. Prowl was hoping that Prime was there and not in his personal quarters.
As they walked through the hallway to the control room, they noticed that nearly the whole team was missing.
"Where is everyone, Prowl?"
"They're either on patrol, break or vacation."
"Vacation? With a war going?"
"Some need it. Take Ironhide for example. He's seen so much over the millennia, that he practically begged me for an overdue vacation. I was reluctant, but gave in cause he really needs it."
"What about Ratchet? Hasn't he seen just as much as Ironhide?"
"Yes, but, like you said, with a war going, Ratchet is needed here. He's the only medic we have."
"So, there's no other Autobot medic available then?"
"Not that I know of. If there is, then I wasn't told."
"Grumpy Ratchet needs a vacay, too."
They had just walked into the control room when Prime looked their way.
"Ratchet is officially on vacation as of today, Throttle. How is Wolf? Did they find out what's wrong with her?"
Prowl just shook his back and forth. "Its not good, Optimus. She needs multiple surgeries."
"What if she refuses to get them?"
"Then she has 6 months to a year to live, if that. The Dr. suggested that she go into an assisted living home and spend as much time as you can with her if she refuses the surgeries."
Both Throttle and Prime looked at each other in complete shock. They knew what it would do to both of them. It terrified them.
"I'm very sorry. They have her on a ventilator right now. I have a son to spend time with and paperwork to finish. It would be best if you 2 talk it over on what you want to do concerning Wolf."

After Prowl left the control room, both Throttle and Prime stood there in complete silence for a few mins. more. They both came to their senses and walked out of the control room. Prime headed for his office and Throttle headed outside. Neither of them could really accept that they were going to lose Wolf if she refuses to get the surgeries needed to live.
Those that were going back on shift saw how their leader was acting. Every Autobot knew that Wolf was his daughter and was making sure they were both doing good, even though Prime was a very private mech. His daughter not so much. She was a social butterfly. She loved being around everyone. She boosted morale a hundred times over.
Throttle had gone for a long walk so he could wrap his mind around the news he got. He couldn't believe that he was going to lose his wife if she didn't get the needed surgeries to live. He knew there was a high risk with surgery too, but if she refused, then he would have 6 months to a year to spend time with her. Time that he holds precious, especially after losing his life. Bringing a new life into the world now would be wrong, especially, if his wife isn't around to help.
Prime was sitting in his office when his comm. signaled that someone was calling him. He composed himself before answering.
"Prime here."
"Prime, its Throttle. We need to talk about what we're going to do concerning Wolf. Can I come by your office?"
"Of course. I'll turn the soundproofing dampener on so no prying audios hear this."
"Sounds good. I'll be there soon."
"Ok Throttle. Prime out."

About 45 mins. later, Throttle came knocking on Prime's office door.
"Its open, Throttle."
Then Prime pushed a button to open the door. He had forgotten that only a select few can open his office door from the outside. Throttle walked in.
"My bad. I forgot that a handful can open the door from the outside. Can I offer you a hand up?"
Throttle nodded and chuckled a bit as he got onto Prime's hand.
"Bad joke, Prime."
"It got you to laugh a little. I thought it would be a good ice breaker for the talk we're about to have."
"Agreed."
Prime pushed the same button and the door shut. Then he pushed another button that dampened the sound in the office so no one outside of it can hear.
"I know this is going to be hard for both of us, Throttle. We must do what Wolf would want if she refuses to get the needed surgeries to live."
"Any idea what her wishes are if she were to pass away?"
"I never thought to ask her. You?"
"Same here. I'm wondering if Charley might know. She did live with her when Stoker brought her to Earth."
Then Throttle pulled out his cell phone and called Charley. He waited for her to pick up.
"Hello?"
"Hey Charley-girl. I was wondering if you and Wolf ever talked about your last wishes if either of you were to pass away."
"No, actually. Why do you ask? Is she ok?"
"She's dying. If she refuses to get the needed surgeries, then she'll have 6 months to a year to live. Optimus and I have no clue what we're going to do if she refuses the surgeries."
"I'm sorry to hear that. I can't even imagine what that must feel like. Let's hope she doesn't refuse the surgeries."
"I'm worried that she might. We're both worried."
"Unfortunately, I can't help you with her last wishes. Modo and I can be there for moral support, though."
"We appreciate that, Charley-girl. Thanks. I'll call you later and let you know what we've decided."
"Alright. Take it easy, Throttle and tell Optimus we're very sorry."
"I will Charley. Later." Then he hung up.
"Nothing?"
"I'm afraid not. They send their condolences."
Another hour into their talk and Throttle's phone rings. He pulls it out and notices it's the hospital.
"I was dreading this call."
"Please put it on speaker, Throttle."
Throttle nodded and answered the call. He put it on speaker so Optimus could hear it.
"Hello?"
"Is this Throttle I'm speaking with?"
"Yes, it is. How is my wife?"
"That's why I called. I'm sorry to say that she passed away 30 mins. ago. If you would like to come and say your final good bye to her before we take her down to the morgue, you are welcome to."
"I'll let her father know and we'll be there soon. Thank you." Then he hung up. Throttle dropped his phone and dropped to his knees and cried.
Optimus couldn't believe what he heard as well. His only daughter was gone. How was he going to tell his son that his mother passed away.
Optimus composed himself and called his son to his office. He was going to find out sooner or later from someone else in the base.
"Is everything ok, dad? You sound upset."
"I'll tell you when you get here, Vince. Its best I not tell you over the comms."
"I was just on my way to see you anyway, dad. Be there shortly."
After Prime ended that, he asked Throttle if he'll be ok. Throttle looked up at Prime with tears staining his tan fur, turning it dark brown.
"I'll never be ok, Optimus. The bond between Martian Mice, if broken, will kill them. We are linked and since she passed away, I'm afraid that I will also pass away. Its just a matter of time 'til I can't feel her in the bond. Its similar to the bond she had with her brothers. Since she had been linked to me, her separation from her brothers wasn't as bad. I was able to help her with the separation."
"It seems our perspective species aren't so different afterall. Wolf was really heartbroken when she lost her brothers. I was glad when she found you after all her failed relationships, me included."
"You and her didn't have a failed relationship, Optimus. You and her were better off as father and daughter than husband and wife. I know you plan to talk to Vince, but have you called her daughter on Cybertron about her mother's death?"
"I think I better send an email to her. Wouldn't want Magnus to get wind of Wolf's death. He might actually be happy about it."
"Do you really think he would be happy that Wolf is dead?"
"I'm afraid so. He has a spotless reputation back home and he was more worried about it than the past relationships she had before him."
"No offense, but he sounds like an asshole
"None taken. He was. He terminated Wolf's parental rights and refused to let her see her daughter, until I stepped in. While she was in school, I set her up in my old place that was closer for her."
