Nuka stood there stunned and looked after Herobrine, who had just disappeared behind the Pillar.
,,Well, that was strange," he heard Einshine say shortly after, who had walked past Nuka and was peering curiously from behind the column.
,,Are you okay?" he continued with a worried look but Nuka just nodded.
,,Yeah I'm fine, I just need to...think for a minute," he replied before sitting down, leaning his back against the cold hard pillar and staring sadly in the black nothingness in front of him.
He was still hurt over the anger and disappointment, which Herobrine had shown in his white eyes. As if he was a disobedient child, he had to scowl for their wrongdoings.
Nuka swallowed hard when he thought about it.
He only wanted to help him...but it seems like it was all for nothing.
He had overcome his fear of leaving the castle and had even been in the overworld for a short moment, just to find out that Herobrine was fine and didn't seem to need his help at all. Let alone a rescue.
Nuka sighed and buried his face in his arms.
He had never been so ashamed.
Why didn't I stay at home? he thought and the memory of his mother's dream came back to his mind but Nuka carelessly pushed it aside.
I probably just imagined it... he added sadly, when a scream made him jump!
Startled, he raised his eyes and stared at Einshine, who still stood at the edge of the pillar, looking in shock at something Nuka couldn't see.
Worried, Nuka jumped up and rushed to Einshine to see what had happened and his heart stopped, as he could see what caused that scream.
Herobrine, who had stood completely healthy before him only a few seconds ago, now lay down on the floor. A sword dragged into his body.
He was struggling to get up and free himself from a strange guy, who looked more like a shadow than a person. He pressed his sword into Herobrine's chest, while looking at him with white glowing eyes that looked just like Herobrines!
Shocked, Nuka stood and watched in horror. He felt a wave of guilt spread through him, as he saw his friend desperately trying to get the sword out of his chest while groaning in pain.
It made Nuka feel even worse than before.
So his mother had been right after all...
Anger and fear spread through him as he realized his mistake and he wanted to rush out from behind the pillar to save Herobrine from the grasp of that strange guy!
But before he could even call out to him, Einshine had put his hand over his mouth and pulled him back!
For such a small person, the Griefer was surprisingly strong.
,,Don't!" he heard him hiss softly as Nuka tried to resist his grip, "If he sees us, he'll kill us too!"
But Nuka didn't listen to him!
All he cared now about was saving Herobrine, regardless of the danger he might be putting himself into!
However before he could free himself from Einshine, a bright flash of light lit up the End, followed by a loud scream from Herobrine.
Nukas heart broke as he heard it...
He was too late…
And he could have prevented it, if only he had been a little more confident with Herobrine and convinced him of his worries.
But instead he didn't and now Herobrine is paying the price for it...
He swallowed hard and he felt tears rolling down his face as he heard the scream stop...
He really was the worst friend ever...
A loud, triumphant dark laugh followed soon after the scream, which caused Nuka to snap back into reality, suddenly aware of the danger he and Einshine were still in.
"That was easier than I thought," he heard someone say a moment later in a dark echoing voice, "And now for Notch!"
This announcement was followed by another flash of light, followed by another laugh from the guy. This flash of light also disappeared, leaving the end cold and dark.
"Finally," the voice of the unknown guy cut through the silence, dripping with satisfaction,
"Oh, I've been waiting for this for so long."
A second later, another flash of light lit up the end. Then a loud bang that made the End tremble, whereupon Nuka and Einshine pressed themselves anxiously against the wall of the pillar, while dust and small stones trickled down on them.
When Nuka dared to look up again, he discovered to his horror that the pillar next to them had been blown halfway away and the obsidian blocks that were still there were glowing and smoking from the blast. Other than that there was nothing left of the pillar that had been exposed to his power.
Not even their little imitations that usually appeared when one would mine or break one a block were left behind.
Nuka's eyes widened at the sight of this destruction and he could feel his heart begin to race, scared of all the terrible things that this guy was capable of.
,,I'd love to kill you and your brother right now," he heard the stranger's voice say, while Nuka still stared at the destroyed pillar"but I think it's even better if I execute you and Notch in front of your beloved Minecrafters. I can't wait to see the sorrow and pain in their eyes when their two perfect gods stand before them and can't save them from their doom."
His cold laughter made Nuka shiver.
,,Enjoy your lives while you still have them.", the stranger said in a mocking tone ,,I'll be back after I take over your city and then I'll take care of you. Don't worry it won't take long."
With those words, Nuka heard the familiar sound of teleportation, followed by an utterly heavy silence only from time to time interrupted by his and Einshine's heavy breathing.
Einshine looked as shocked and frightened as he was, but Nuka had no time to worry about him now.
Instead he tried to stand up and walked with shaking steps to the edge of the pillar, still scared that the stranger might be there. Though after he peeked out, he couldn't spot the stranger anywhere, which relieved him greatly.
He assumed it would mean they were safe.
At least for now.
With this thought, he turned his gaze to Herobrine and was shocked to discover him still lying lifeless in a pool of blood that was growing larger and larger!
Nuka cried out in fear as he saw this and rushed towards Herobrine. He looked in horror at the large wound in his chest from which the blood was still seeping incessantly!
,,No, no, no, no!" Nuka heard himself whisper softly as he frantically searched for a way to stop the flow of blood. In an act of desperation he tore off his jacket and pressed it onto the wound, expecting it to light up and heal Herobrine any moment, but nothing happened.
"Let me try," Einshine replied in a calm tone and before Nuka knew what was happening he had knelt down next to him and taken his cloak, to which he briefly gave a regretful look before starting to cut it with his knife strips and began to bandage Herobrine's wound as best he could.
Meanwhile Nuka was still waiting for the wound to start healing, staring at it with a crowded mind.
But still nothing happened and the longer Nuka waited the more worried and confused he became.
Something was wrong. Very wrong! He could feel it. But what?
,,W-why isn't it working?" he finally asked in a slightly quavering voice, looking anxiously back and forth between him and Einshine, "W-why isn't it healing?! Wounds like these always heal!"
,,It won't."
Nuka's head shot up and he froze as he spotted Steve just a few blocks away, also lying on the ground and also looking very taken and weak.
Still, at the sight of him fear shot back up inside him and old, not so nice memories flashed before his eyes. But before Nuka could lose himself even further in them Steve started to speak again.
,,And it never will...again," he continued, while breathing heavily and even though he looked more than exhausted, his eyes were still blue and clear as ever "He's going to die...just like all of us..."
Nuka swallowed hard and he could feel the tears coming as his gaze wandered over Herobrine's pale face to Einshine, who by now managed to bandage Herobrine and also looked very worried.
And for the first time Nuka began to fear for Herobrine's life.
"No!" he interrupted him in a fearful voice before shaking his head violently, unable to believe what he had said. He turned back to Steve, "You're lying! You...you can't! Hero is a god!"
"Not anymore..." Steve interrupted him with a grim and tired voice, lowering his head and sighning deeply before looking at Nuka again "Null...He...he took everything from us...Everything! Our power...our magic...even our immortality..."
The utter desperation in his voice scared Nuka, but before he could answer him, Steve turned away and snorted contemptuously as his gaze fell on Herobrine.
,,What an idiot...", he continued in a firm, bitter voice, "I can't believe that he really believed that Null would spare him. Anyone else would have known immediately that it was a trap."
He puffed slightly, shook his head and smiled sadly, as if he couldn't believe what had just happened.
"Well, at least he pays for his stupidity by dying first," he continued in a snide tone with a glance at Herobrine, which made Nukas heart race again!
"No!" he cried desperately while turning his attention back to Herobrine, pressing his now bullet-soaked jacket even tighter on the wound. He couldn't hold back his tears anymore, "This can't...This cannot happen!"
"Please..." he whispered softly as he desperately studied Herobrine's pale face as if he could make him stay alive that way"Please don't! He...He mustn't...He can't die! I...I need him...There...There has to be something! Anything I can do."
With these words, he turned back to Steve, but he just looked at him coldly.
,,What are you looking at me for, kid?" he continued a moment later in a sharp voice, "Do you think I know a way?"
He looked at him contemptuously.
"Forget it! And even if I did, I wouldn't tell you!"
Nuka stared at him in shock as he heard that, lowering his eyes and swallowing hard, staring ahead for a few moments before finally giving in to his despair and burying his face against Herobrine's chest with a quiet sob.
Steve was right...
There was nothing he could do…
No matter how he twisted and turned it, this wound was too great for any human to take and even though Nuka didn't want to believe it, he knew that Steve didn't lie about that.
Otherwise the wound would have already begun to heal itself...
Nuka whimpered softly as he thought about it, not noticing how his bloodied hands clawed at Herobrine's t-shirt, as if he could make him stay here in the world of the living.…
Why did this have to happen…? He asks himself, still sobbing in Herobrine's T-shirt
I've already lost the few people who cared about me...I can't lose him too...I have no one else...
At that moment, Nuka felt a hand on his shoulder and the distant voice vin Einshine said something but he didn't respond to it.
Instead, he just shook his head and buried his face even more into Herobrine's t-shirt, unable to tear himself away from his grief.
Why couldn't he just live a normal life in Hero's castle?
That was all he had wanted... And for a brief moment he had it... the contentment, the inner peace... a home where he could feel safe and secure... but now all that was gone...again.…
He would never be able to go home again and he would now lose Hero like he had lost his mother back then...
It really seems like I cause destruction and death wherever I go… Nuka thought sadly
And not even Herobrine. Someone I thought would be safe to befriend because he could never die because of his immortality, didn't seem safe from it…
But no, instead he now had more blood on his hands and this time it wasn't an ordinary bounty hunter that Nuka didn't know, but his best friend, the one who had saved his life. But unlike him, Nuka couldn't return the favor, which made him feel even worse than he already did.
And the fact that he could have saved him additionally made him feel so bad to the point that he could hardly think straight.
Nuka gulped loudly and the desire to scream rose in him, but he couldn't manage to suppress it.
It wouldn't help Herobrine either...
Nuka sniffled, and despite all that, he felt a small spark of anger and all that contempt and sadness begin to flare up inside him.
Why was he doomed to always get into all kinds of horrible situations, no matter what he did?!
Why did someone always have to come and ruin everything for him?!
What had he done...?
At that moment, he suddenly heard several teleporting noises around him, followed by several strange sounds, whereupon he raised his head in fright and froze as he spotted a couple of Endermen suddenly standing around them all, making these strange sounds.
Steve had seen them too, but quickly lowered his gaze so as not to make them angry, while Nuka still stared at them uncertainly.
Why were they here?
And why were they acting so strangely?
But before he could wonder any further, the Endermen suddenly stopped making that loud noise and stepped up to them before grabbing each of them by the arm, teleporting them into nothingness.
