This is Chapter 9 of Tales of the Decade Second Season. Please enjoy it like a fan for Kamen Rider.
Chapter 9: World of Paranoid and Misanthropy!
In a seemingly normal city, the Hikari Studio manifests in a building space. Natsumi pokes out from the window, asking Dragonic. ''So this is the 8th A.R. Heisei world?''
The dragon nods, eating a bowl of rice while Layla chews on dog treats. She then eyes Tsukasa, startling as his clothes have already change into that of some kind of magenta colored hazmat suit that has advanced equipment on the suit with a large backpack on his back
''Costume, Tsukasa-kun?'' She asks with a giggle.
''…'' Silent, Tsukasa has a stern, annoyed face for the ridiculous outfit he has on. He turns to the dragon and demands firmly. ''World, Dragonic?''
The dragon, just about to finish chewing his bowl of rice, points to the backdrop that shows the image of a bright blue sky but has the bright glowing, energy sigil of the Eyecon.
Gulping, the purple dragon floats to the backdrop and announces proudly. ''Why it's the A.R. World of Ghost!''
''Like Ghostbuster-'' Tsukasa begins to theorize but the dragon quickly corrects him. ''Yes and no.''
He flies to the door as the group follows right behind him. Once outside, they see many of the civilians of the world, including the children, wearing unique hazmat suits with similar backpacks with vacuum-like weapons. Tsukasa gives a look to Dragonic who refuses to admit it is like Ghostbuster. They are looking around, almost frightened and be cautious up in the sky.
''People are paranoid here.'' Natsumi openly admits to their overreaction.
''Not really.'' Sougo corrects her as he says. ''A war between humanity and Gamma happened here.''
Tsukasa and Natsumi then eye Dragon who explains. ''They're the monsters of this world. They influence people to commit evil until they go mad, then use the energy of that influence to sacrifice their target's life energy to create a ghost which they harvest to create Eyecons.''
''Eyecons are trapped souls that grant great power to their users or those with Ghost Drivers.'' Sougo then explains what the Eyecons are.
Natsumi hums as does Layla before Tsukasa then asks. ''So what happened here?"
He would get his answer by another shouting close by. ''The Gamma War is over!"
Dragonic just smirks, pointing to the direction of the commotion. They head over there and see a young man, wearing regular clothes as he tries convincing everyone. "The time of prejudice must end! I'm sure with all the bloodshed; humans and Gamma can come in peace!"
Immediately one of the crowd throws a can at the man who guards with his arms.
"You're still as delusional as ever, Ryu!" Another person yells at the delusional man as another then says. "The Gamma are our enemy! They almost took us to extinction!"
Many more people then even argue how they ruin their lives and others cry for those who died because of them.
''You of all people should understand it!'' Another person tells the man, Ryu, who frowns looking away. Soon the crowd disperses away from the man.
Humming, Tsukasa approaches him as does the others.
"Are you okay sir?" Natsumi asks the man, noticing how depressed he's gotten.
"I'm… I'm okay." Ryu utters, snapping out from his trance. She nods as she then asks him. ''Um, can I ask what that was about?"
The man frowns, thinking for a moment before he replies. "People, no, humanity doesn't want to move on from what the Gamma did to us long ago. I don't blame them; their actions ruin our world and lead to humanity not even trusting ourselves anymore."
Tsukasa doesn't say a word, reliving something similar during his early days as Decade. Natsumi also gets it too before she asks him. "What exactly was the Gamma War?"
Ryu frowns as he tries to explain it. "Like the name suggests, the Gamma declare war upon humanity. They were led by their leader who believed humanity's era had ended."
It happened all so fast when they appeared and tried taking the planet for their own. Humanity was not ready when they attacked and they caused mass panic and destruction among their wake.
"Many lives were taken but in the end; humanity barely survived." Ryu says, recalling the long days of the war as he pulls out a blue Eyecon in the palm of his hand. It was his idea and it worked, using the power the Gamma were using against them and was enough to put an end to the pointless genocide.
"However, humanity only won with a price." He then says with a scowl, not expecting his solution to spread more hate on what remains on the Earth. "Humans needed to harness the power of the Eyecons, the power the Gamma are based on, but that causes the rest of humanity to fear that power too."
Tsukasa begins to see the pattern of the issue, getting why many of those people opposed Ryu's speech.
"So to avoid this, humanity does what it needs to by exterminating any remaining Gamma and any Eyecon that becomes a threat to the world, even if it means to destroy those who could be allies." Ryu then says, looking at the state of his world and all he sees is fear among others and everyone else. Tsukasa gets it; it's natural for humanity to be in a state of fear and doubt.
"What were they saying about you?" Tsukasa then asks Ryu who frowns dreadfully before responding hesitantly. "… My son, Takeru, died during the war."
This causes Natsumi to widen her eyes sadly.
"My wife and I couldn't protect him. He… he wasn't even able to grow up to become a strong young man." Ryu continues saying, breathing almost trembling. Tsukasa can tell he's still hurt, losing his only child in an unfortunate event.
Shaking his head, Ryu then says gripping on the Eyecon. "I used this Eyecon to transform and defeat them, barely." He recalls the many battles he had against the Gammas and the last one that caused all this mess he barely sealed away but he also learned why the Gamma did all this. "But I learned the Gamma needed to find a new home of their own since their real world is inhabitable and malicious."
He sighs, wishing they tried to open up and explain why they were doing this. If they did, none of this would have happened.
"…" Natsumi frowns silently, thinking of how… for a single moment, question her life when she was all alone before Tsukasa came to her life. She thought about it, thinking life is hard and she wanted the pain to stop… but she never did it and she's thankful she never did.
"Could we help you?" She then asks him but Ryu, trying to smile, declines. "You don't have to. I've tried this for so long that maybe, I should stop and let people learn eventually that they can forgive."
"That would be the best-'' Tsukasa begins to agree with the man until another voice speaks up in protest. "That wouldn't change anything!"
The group turns towards a young man with orange hair, wearing a kimono-like outfit.
"Just leaving things be won't solve the problem; it will only leave this hate in their hearts to remain and grow over time.'' He tells them, mainly Ryu, to not give up in reaching out to others. "People need guidance and a reason to forgive, that's what I believe in!"
"… And you are, kid?" Tsukasa questions suspiciously, already confirming not everyone sees the Gamma as anything less but the enemy and this one doesn't… no less his ridiculous outfit.
The young man blinks awkwardly before he answers him with a smile. "Oh, I'm a ghost investigator!"
Tsukasa doesn't even believe him, further questioning him. "Are you also against Gammas?"
He doesn't think twice before he replies. "If there are good Gammas, then they deserve a second chance. Every life means something!''
"… Naïve or stupid?" Tsukasa then asks him, causing him to utter really clueless. "Eh?"
Tsukasa sighs as he eyes Dragonic and tells him. "In between then." The dragon grins in agreement.
"N-No! I'm aware that it's foolish but-'' The young man begins to explain himself until his words are cut off by an explosion. This alarms everyone who turns around and then hears people's screams.
Smirking when the enemy would show up, Tsukasa runs over. Natsumi immediately follows right behind him with Layla followed by the others.
They reach blocks away where people are running for their lives until one is grabbed by the head and squeezed into energy, becoming an Eyecon by the claws of a powerful monster.
"A-a Gammaizer?!" The young man utters in shock, getting Tsukasa's notice. Ryu is also shocked, proclaiming. "It is one of many deities of the Gamma and one of them that began the war."
"But you said that you sealed them away. How did this one-" Sougo begins to question him until he's intercepted by a familiar voice, followed by hiccups. ''Ah, Decade~ HICCUP!''
Tsukasa looks up along with the others and sees him, floating in the air with his arms crossed, it is Doctor Shinigami. He snickers very humorously, still letting out hiccups.
''Doctor, surprised you're working with the supernatural.'' Tsukasa teases him which only causes the Fangire to laugh, amused before he replies. ''I am a man of science and of the supernatural! Of course you should be surprised and fear that I am here to kill you~!''
Tsukasa still smirks, not at all worried. The monster gazes towards the scared humans, running away as he proclaims joyfully. "But I should be thanking these humans. The Gammaizers were about to awaken in about a few more years or less with all the negative emotions humanity now has towards the Gamma and any with power."
He did seal the rest of the Gammaizers though, thinking all of them together could prove a threat and he doesn't wish to interrupt the deep synchronization that the Great Leader is having with the fully upgraded Dark Decadriver.
"It is quite fitting too! The only rider of this world and even his own kind despised him.'' The evil Fangire taunts this world's only protector before he gazes his eyes towards Tsukasa. "Ironic no, Decade?"
Tsukasa stares back at him with a serious glare.
The Gammaizer takes a step forward, detecting numerous, powerful souls.
"Must absorb souls." It utters with a sense of "hungry". Doctor Shinigami chuckles before letting him. ''Right-right, go ahead and try."
Frowning mad, Ryu steps forward as he declares as a Ghost Driver manifests around his waist. "I will handle this. It's my job to protect humanity's future!" He pulls out the blue Eyecon, pressing its button as it announces. "SPECTER!"
"That's-" The orange haired young man utters in surprise, knowing that Eyecon.
Ryu thrusts and inserts the Eyecon into the belt by opening it by the front and he then pulls the lever of the belt. Soon a blue ghost entity in the form of a blue-black hoodie with glowing eyes emerges and floats around him.
"AYE! WATCH THIS! WATCH THIS!" The Ghost Driver announces before Ryu shouts, spreading his arms down to the sides after he bangs the front of his belt. "Henshin!"
"EYES OPEN! SPECTER!" The Ghost Driver begins to announce as the robe floats around as Ryu's body glows and he's covered in a full body outfit with blue lining and a blank face plate mask. The robe then ascends over him and quickly descends, wearing itself on his body and now hoodie coat with a blue, demon-like face with two horns. "READY GO! HELLBENT! PULSE-POUNDING GHOST!"
The young man watches astonished, uttering in awe. "Awesome! He has Makoto-nii-san's-'' He soon stops himself, panicking as he eyes Tsukasa who raises an eyebrow towards him.
"Oh?'' Watching from afar, Daiki is observing the group along with Selina who purrs, smirking. "Nyan-Nyan~."
Daiki eyes her and smirks, replying. "You read my mind, Selina." He walks away, trying to get downstairs to get his treasure.
Specter charges at the Gammaizer who fades away but Specter does the same. Sounds and sparks are heard as the two teleport clashing in one spot and then again in another spot. Tsukasa can tell this isn't teleportation by how they're fading, not speed but something more.
"We have to help him! He can't beat the Gammaizer alone!" The young man tells Tsukasa that they need to do something. He actually agrees with him and orders him. "Watch Natsumikan."
He blinks confused as Tsukasa and Sougo rush forward, strapping on their drivers as well as Sougo twirling his Ridewatch.
"ZI-O!" The Ridewatch announces as Sougo inserts it while Tsukasa slides in a Rider Card into his belt.
"Henshin!" Both shout as they activate their drivers.
''KAMEN RIDE!" The Decadriver announces, followed by the Ziku Driver. "RIDE TIME! KAMEN RIDER~!"
Tsukasa and Sougo run faster as they transform into their Rider forms followed by their own drivers announcing in sync. "DECADE! / ZI-O!"
Invisible, Specter sees them, surprised they're riders before he's grabbed by the neck. Both Decade and Zi-O get close as Specter reappears, tossed away by the Gammaizer and crashes through a building. In range, Decade and Zi-O both swing a punch only for their fists to go through the monster.
''My punch just-'' Decade begins to utter in dismay before he and Zi-O are swiped by the Gammaizer's claws, slashing the two as sparks fly out across them and then it releases sonic-like energy blasts, blowing the two into a wall each. Decade shoots out of it, swinging his Ride Booker in sword form and slashes him… but his blade cuts through it and does no damage as if it's transparent. Then the Gammaizer slashes him again, over and over before it grabs Decade by the head and dunks him into the ground, actually stone skipping Decade away as he crashes into a car.
Natsumi sees this in horror and questions Dragonic in shock. "Why aren't Tsukasa-san's attacks not working!"
Dragonic hums, also puzzled as that's not normal and then he realizes it in surprise. "Could it be in this world that Gammas are immune to physical attacks?"
The Gammazier releases an uneasy voice, approaching Decade before it's shot across its back by Zi-O and his Zikan Girade's gun form, firing multiple blasts that damages it.
Now getting it, Dragonic advises Decade who stands up woozy. "Tsukasa, switch to a form that's magical or mythical!"
"I get… the gist.'' The panting Decade responds as he holds up a Rider Card and tosses it into his belt, pushing the levers.
"KAMEN RIDE! HIBIKI!" The Decadriver announces as Decade transforms into Hibiki. He leaps right at the stun Gammaizer along with Specter, both delivering strong kicks that push it back before they thrust strong punches. The Gammaizer shrieks, releasing powerful sound waves that pushes the riders backwards but Decade-Hibiki stands his ground, thrusting a card into his belt
''ATTACK RIDE!'' The Decadriver begins to announce as he manifests Hibiki's signature drumstick weapons. He twirls them, erupting in flames before he swings them at the monster. ''ONGEKIBOU REKKA!''
The fireballs hit the Gammaizer and small explosions thrust it backwards while lit up in flames. It screams in agony but still manages to release more soundwave attacks that Decade repels by swinging more fireballs, repelling them back.
''FINISH TIME!'' The Zikan Girade announces as Zi-O takes aim at the Gammaizer and presses the trigger. ''ZI-O! SURE SURE SHOOTING!'' He fires multiple energy shots that blast and consume the Gammaizer, consumed in multiple small explosions.
Smoke covers the spot as the 3 riders thought they got it. However, the Gammaizer quickly walks out from the smoke, damaged until it regenerates all of it away.
"Oh HO-HO-HO!" Laughing at their pathetic attempts, Doctor Shinigami mocks the three. "You can't hope to beat a Gammaizer like that!" He becomes serious and orders the monster. "Now show them your power!"
The Gammaizer lets out a shriek, energy coursing through it from all the negative on this world.
Specter squeezes his fist, not going to let this powerful Gamma damage his world. He has to save humanity from themselves; he must.
He prepares to fight the monster and try to seal it away until suddenly a voice announces. "ATTACK RIDE: DIEND BLAST!" Specter turns and he's immediately shot multiple times before the last one blasts him away from Decade and Zi-O to their shock.
Specter is thrusted aside, managing to backflip right back up and looks up, seeing Diend who shot him.
"Yo." The cyan colored Rider proclaims, jumping off from his high position.
"Kaito!" Decade yells madly, really not happy to see him here. Diend lands on the ground before Specter, twirling his gun before declaring as he holds two Rider Cards. "Hate to interrupt your big moment but I'm taking my treasure." He slides each card into his gun, loading them in.
"KAMEN RIDE!" The Diendriver announces as Diend takes aim and fires two orbs that take on the form of two Kiva riders. "IXA! SAGA!"
The summoned Saga twirls his baton as it releases an electrical energy beam that wraps around Specter and tosses him upward only to get punched by the leaping Ixa, slamming him through a building and crashing on the other side.
Decade growls as Diend waves goodbye, walking away to get his treasure.
"Damn it, he just-'' Decade begins complaining about Kaito's thieving ways but before he can do anything, Natsumi warns them by yelling loudly. "Tsukasa-kun, Sougo-kun!"
Decade turns around too slowly as he and Zi-O are wrapped around by energy whips of the Gammaizer, thrashing them around before slamming them onto the ground.
Adjusting his hat, Dragonic flies forward to help them but he's immediately stopped by Doctor Shinigami snickering as he fires black hole energy spheres.
"SERIOUSLY?!" Complaining as he's reminded by the black hole he was tossed in, the purple dragon flies away from the sphere and breathes out a torrent of purple flames at them. They're suck up as they grow but that's Dragonic's plan, pouring more flames into them so they can go supernova.
As this is happening, the orange headed young man spots a few kids watching this and frowning, trying to keep a simple request from Tsukasa; goes to get the kids away from here before it's too late. Doctor Shinigami sees this and chuckles as the Gammaizer in this state won't bother going after weaklings; only those with strong or unique life energies.
Natsumi watches the fights going on, frowning as she feels so helpless right now while everyone is doing something. No, she can help too! She can order Layla to help Tsukasa… that is until the Gammaizer suddenly stops, blasting both Decade and Zi-O backwards into the ground. It turns towards Natsumi, detecting strong, unique life energy as it then approaches her.
Decade, struggling as he and Zi-O are in the ground, sees this and shouts at her. "Natsumikan!"
Natsumi panics as the two mons leap to intercept. The Gammaizer easily smacks the Absol and Jigglypuff as it reaches its hand and Natsumi begins to scream, her body glowing as her soul is being ripped out of her.
Seeing this, anger builds up within Decade as he breaks free by his energy. He then dunks another card as he runs right at the monster.
''ATTACK RIDE!'' The Decadriver announces as Decade-Hibiki leaps at the Gammaizer's back as it breathes intense purple flames from its sudden open up fangs. ''ONIBI!''
The flames burn and cause the Gammaizer to stop its attempt as Natsumi's body collapses. The monster turns, about to attack Decade until Absol leaps in front of it, cutting it with Night Slash. This hit actually causes great pain on the Gammaizer, stumping back. It tries to take its soul but doesn't work to its dismay, causing Layla to use Psycho Cut and damaging him again.
Doctor Shinigami turns to see that but his eyes immediately fixate towards the unconscious Natsumi. Having a moment of shock, he quickly fades away the mini black hole spheres through Aurora Curtains to Dragonic's surprise and reappears behind the Gammazier.
"That's enough!'' Stopping on its tracks, the Gammaizer turns to the doctor who orders it. "Retreat!"
It nods as the two suddenly vanish away. The young man returns and gasps in horror, seeing the scene left behind.
Panting, Decade runs over to Natsumi as he de-transforms back to civilian form. He shakes her but no reaction.
"Natsumikan!" Tsukasa shouts at her, shaking her again but no response. This causes such worry and fear in his very soul, his hand trembling. He turns to the purple dragon and demands, outrageous. "Dragonic, why isn't she waking up?!"
Dragonic flies over and instead of checking her pulse, he feels her aura and confirms it. He's about to tell him but the young man beats him to it, knowing this all too well. "She's fine, Tsukasa-san! Her soul was pulled out of her body but not absorbed by the Gammaizer."
Tsukasa glares at him as does Absol. He gulps as Dragonic speaks up. "But she's not dead, yet. We still have time… but...'' He stumbles back, looking back at where Ryu is sent off to. Tsukasa grunts, realizing that man might be the key to tracking down and likely restoring Natsumi before she becomes a freaking Eyecon and he loses her.
Sougo nods as he advises Tsukasa. "Go help Ryu. I'll try to look for clues where Natsumi's soul went."
"…" Tsukasa eyes him and doesn't say a thing before he looks back at Natsumi's unconscious state, almost like Sleeping Beauty. If he has to be Prince Charming… no, never mind. He runs off along with Layla and the young man, leaving Natsumi to Dragonic and Jigglypuff's protection while the pink balloon mon frowns saddened.
Specter is kicked through another wall by the combination attacks of Diend and his summoned riders. He crashes onto the other side of the street, grunting in pain.
"What's wrong? Slowing down now?" Diend questions, strolling up towards him as his summoned riders vanished. "I was expecting a little-''
"Damn rider!" Diend dodges to the side, evading a bullet. He turns to the sides to a bunch of people, shooting at not just Diend but also Specter. "Shoot them down!" They continue firing which Diend dodges with ease but not Specter who's being shot down.
"Guess they fear the Riders as much as the Gamma if not more." Diend proclaims in mockery before he takes aim with his gun and fires at them. "Better that than being conquered."
The people run for their lives as Diend keeps firing until Specter leaps in front and blocks the shots with his forearms, sparks flying out across his body.
"I-I don't care what they think of me! I…'' Breathing heavily, Specter begins proclaiming as he refuses to give up. "I will live with no regrets and burn brightly!" He pulls the lever of the belt.
"EYES WIDE OPEN! SPECTER!" The Ghost Driver announces as a large blue glowing eye symbol resembling the Eyecon manifests behind him.
Diend just scoffs, sliding in the Final Attack Ride card into the Diendriver just as Specter leaps upward.
"OMEGA DRIVE!" The Ghost Driver announces as he performs a Rider Kick, engulfing blue energy around him. Diend snickers as he takes aim.
"FINAL ATTACK RIDE! DIEND!" The Diendriver announces as he charges up and fires a powerful cyan colored blast, colliding against Specter's kick but Diend's attack consumes him and overpowers him.
''GAAWWW!" Specter screams as the attack explodes and he crashes into the ground as his Ghost Driver flies out of his waist. Diend snickers, twirling his gun as Selina dashes to snatch the belt and return it back to him.
"Nyan~Nyan!" Selina purrs, tossing it up to Diend who catches it one handed and snickers.
"Good work. Now let's go." Diend declares as he walks away along with his partner.
Ryu grunts in pain, losing his driver and worse, a crowd begins gathering. They had pitchforks and guns, ready to kill him until a blast hits through a gun and pierces through the pitchfork. They panic as it's Tsukasa, wielding the Ride Booker in gun form and wearing his casual outfit.
"Really? Your method of cleaning the world is also killing the guy who fights to protect it?" Tsukasa calls them out annoyed, looking down at these "humans" with disgust. "Maybe you all don't deserve to be saved."
He raises his gun at them, all of them freaking out until the young man leaps in his way, trying to calm him down. "Please don't!"
Tsukasa glares annoyed before questioning him, enraged by what happen to Natsumi. "Why are you getting in my way?"
The orange headed frowns, pausing for a moment before responding. "Because it's true that they don't understand why Ot- what he's doing but you can't give up on humanity!"
He turns at the crowd, fully aware what they're doing is wrong but he knows they can become better too.
"Just scaring them or telling them what to do won't change how they feel or change them; you need to show them with action and resolve what is true!" He begins saying passionately, believing in what people, in what humanity is. "With no regrets or doubts, people can change with how you live your life and let it burn brightly!"
''…'' Tsukasa remains silent, not saying until he scoffs, rather amused as he lowers the Ride Booker down. The crowd soon runs away as the young man sighs of relief. Tsukasa walks up to Ryu, pulling him up and he proclaims. ''Let's hope they get the message."
The orange haired young man hopes for the same but also hopes that Natsumi is okay. Tsukasa feels the same but he trusts in her.
It all happened so fast as Natsumi was being sucked up by the monster but then Tsukasa saved her… but now she's somewhere in the city… floating… and invisible. OH… oh, she doesn't like this one bit.
''Great…" She mutters, floating behind buildings, watching people with strange headgears that likely will see her and try to attack her with those vacuums. Just that thought causes her to shiver.
She looks down and grunts upsetly by her situation. She soon snaps out and tells herself calmly. "No, Tsukasa-kun will find me. I know-''
''Oto-san…'' Natsumi stops speaking as she turns around. She follows the almost quiet sobbing and soon spots a little boy, sitting alone on a rock. She frowns, approaching him as he mutters so heartbroken. "I don't get why people hate him."
"…" Natsumi is silent but feels for him. The boy rubs his eyes, then says broken down. "I wish I could tell him that I don't hate him."
''Because of the ghost monsters?" She questions, on the assumption and the boy responds as he looks up at her. "Yea, exactly!''
Silent again, Natsumi soon panics, not expecting that.
"HUH?! You can understand me!" She utters out loud, really surprised. The boy blinks and nods, standing up… or rather floats up. Natsumi looks down and widens her eyes as he's floating. So he's a ghost too?! Wait… his father… could it be?!
''Then are you Takeru?!'' She asks him in shock. The little boy frowns but nods, causing her to cover her mouth in awe. Ryu's son is. Oh no.
I am GRATEFUL depressed, unrelated to this. Also more since next week I can't upload. Sorry guys.
