Sakura looked around. A city unveiled beneath her; none of the houses had windows, but all of them had big white metal doors. The houses were also white, made of ice. She looked to her left, then to the right because she was aware she had to look for something. Even if somebody asked her what it was that she was looking for, she couldn't put a finger on it. She was flying fearlessly between people and streets before she rose above all else only to dive back onto the ground, searching, pulling at locked doors. She was in a hurry when she saw nobody on the streets because she felt something bad getting closer and there wasn't much time left to save herself. A loud noise caught her attention. She looked behind at the enormous wave that swallowed everything including Sakura in seconds before it froze and every soul died on the spot.
Sakura opened her eyes for the second time and woke up in the same starting point as the first time. She was just as calm as before only this time she had an image in her mind about the house she was looking for, the only wooden house. It felt weird that she couldn't see any part of her body, not the hands, not the legs, nothing. Even though she searched for her limbs, her beautiful long pink hair. She was just a soul, a flying soul. She started flying on different streets than last time. People didn't see her, which made Sakura happy because they didn't look very friendly. She happily flew between them without a care. She knew she had to find the safe place, or else she would be dead. The clock strikes tsunami o'clock and this time Sakura tried to fly perpendicular to the ground, to get as further away from the wave as possible. However, water enveloped everything, including Sakura's soul. Seconds before everything froze again, Sakura looked up, where the sky was. The endless water above her gave her the feeling she was in a bottomless ocean. Ice broke dramatically and Sakura along with all of the locals shattered into particles smaller than dust.
The third time Sakura woke up above the lively city, she knew this was her last chance to find the wooden house, or else she would die for real. Last chance. Fear didn't have any room in Sakura's heart for Sakura was determined to live another day. Her calm kept her thoughts clear and she finally remembered the right road that lead to the safe house. A dog ran towards Sakura, from the opposite direction and it went right through her, like she didn't exist. Sakura looked behind her again and the wave got closer for the last time. She was right in front of the wooden house. She pulled the door and it opened, the only door in the whole city that opened for her. Right after she closed the door behind her, whizzing and howling from the outside could be heard before everything froze except Sakura and the souls living in that house. Sakura's bare feet touched the dark red carpet in the hallway. She was so happy to finally see her legs. She smiled and opened her mouth to talk, but changed her mind when she saw the other women kneeling on the floor with children in their arms. They all stayed there in silence, with their back to Sakura. A man was the only one who faced Sakura. He was dark haired and dressed in dark clothes. He was busy with putting out fear in the woman's heart on whose forehead he had just drawn a cross with oils. Sakura also kneeled. I will just sit here and try not to bother anyone. A soon as her mind gave birth to this thought, the dark haired man looked straight into Sakura's eyes, which scared her and she woke up.
Her tired eyes tried to get used to the darkness in the room. She tried to bring a head to her forehead while sitting up on the bed, but something stopped her wrist a few cm from the edge of the bed. Sakura pulled harder, but her wrist wouldn't come up and she panicked. That bastard tied her hands to the bed with cold iron handcuffs. The sound the links of the chain made by the fearful girl who felt like an animal in a cage, woke up the man who slept right next to her.
"Let me go! You can't keep me here!"
"My darling, calm down. You'll hurt yourself." He said trying to push her back on the bed.
"Take your hands off of me! And don't call me that! I am not your darling!"
The man's face darkened.
"I don't like the way you speak to me."
Sakura didn't have enough chakra to break the chains and she didn't understand why. She hadn't used chakra in any battles lately. She bumped her head into the man's mouth and split his bottom lip in 2. He brought his hand to his bleeding mouth. He was pissed. He contemplated slapping her across the face. Thankfully, he didn't. Hitting a defenseless woman would be beneath him.
"Fine, if you want to be difficult, so be it!"
Sakura's wrists were already scratched and bruised. The man stood up and took the thick blanket off of Sakura, leaving her uncovered.
"You'll get it back when you behave yourself."
"Huh?"
He put out the fire from the fireplace and left the room in anger, leaving the poor girl alone in the room. She took a closer look at her body and noticed how her clothes were all in place, so he hadn't molested her. And her feet were free. She touched herself in hopes he had forgotten to take one of her weapons. Bad luck! She took in her surroundings as soon as her eyes adjusted to the darkness in search of her coat or at least her pouch where she kept al of her kunai. Nothing. She exhaled in exasperation.
Why do I feel so exhausted? Is it because of the pregnancy? One of her hands barely rested on her belly. My baby, mom promises you she will get you out of this hell. Hold on a little longer. Your father is on the way. And she sighed. It was so frustrating that she couldn't even run her fingers through her hair due to the restraints being too short. She lay on her back and looked to her right where she saw a window that was secured by the crazy man with wooden planks. When she looked again to the door, she noticed an unusual lock for a civilian. Where are you, Gaara?
In about an hour, all the heat in the room dissipated which made Sakura shiver. With her hand on her stomach, she tried to use the leftover chakra she still possessed to redirect the heat from her limbs to the baby. Her hands and feet were icicles. Shortly after, her teeth chattered from the cold and she couldn't help but tear up when she thought that if that man wasn't going to return soon, both she and her baby would be dead before Gaara arrived.
...
It's obvious whoever took Sakura has no idea who she is. Otherwise, they would have asked for a ransom. If it was out of revenge, they would have bragged about it and I would have found out by now. Whatever it is that they want from her, she is no use to them dead. This place was supposed to be safe. Why would they take her? Gaara thought as he stood still on the big sand plate above everyone else. He was shriveling when he flew above the mountains, above the city. Shinki stood next to his father. The child was very stressed and it killed Gaara that he couldn't give his son comfort right away. Too many prying eyes bore holes into Gaara's skin. People elbowed each other pointing at Gaara and his son while laughing and drinking beer. They all thought it was part of a show. To get rid of them, Gaara sent his son to impregnate the mountains in order to create heavy snow mixed with rain. All the people evaporated into their own houses while Gaara lifted the plate closer to the sky, until people were the size of ants. Shinki made himself a jacket of his own black sand to cover his head and body from the cold, while a big hand above Gaara's head shielded Karura's son and prevented him from getting a cold before he found his wife.
Where are you, Sakura? It was a good idea to make the rain start because he was able to notice the secluded areas where only a few people ran to. Sakura couldn't be in a crowded place, like the city center because there would be a lot of witnesses. There were some houses on the slopes of the mountains, towards the top. The sand plate ran towards the mountain and searched the mountain on all sides, searched every house in a loop around the base of the mountain, heading to the top. It was taking too long and night was getting closer. Gaara realized the forest of fir hid more houses than he could search in a night, so he talked to his son:
"I want you to search from the top of the mountain to the base. Take these. They will keep your hands and feet warm. Search every house. If you find Sakura, light this paper and throw the kunai into the air. It will show me your position. Don't intervene before I come unless Sakura's life is in danger. Understood?"
"Yes, father."
Shinki took the hand and feet warmers along with the kunai which had an explosive paper attached to it with a string and used his black sand to propel himself to the top of the mountain. There were about 5 mountains to check. If Sakura wasn't on either one of them, they would have to search the caves, which would have been very difficult. It was hard to believe somebody would choose to live in a cave in the middle of the winter, but if that were to be the case, Gaara had made up his mind to let the citizens know he will tear down all the mountains if they didn't hand the thief over to him. The locals' fear would make them search alongside Gaara or one of them would sing about her location. However, Gaara hoped it wouldn't come down to this because everyone in the ninja world would then know that the Kazekage's wife was kidnapped from right under his nose. There was nothing more shameful than this, unless those bastards raped or killed Sakura. A cold chill ran down his spine at the thought, he gritted his teeth, clenched his fists and continued the search all the while praying that nothing had happened to Sakura. He felt the same as when he was possessed by Shukaku. He felt the need to kill. Shukaku's thirst for blood sharpened Gaara's senses in his early years, making him think like a predator. And it made him feel closer to Sakura than he was 10 minutes ago. His nose and the tips of his ears were red from the blistering wind. Not even the snow storm that bent trees over could break Gaara's will to look for his wife. It was already pitch dark outside. The only light that shone came from the candles of love that burnt in Gaara's eyes.
Shinki and Gaara met again around the half of the mountain. Shinki shook his head with a dead serious face and Gaara decided to move on to the next mountain.
Note: That man's ending will be satisfying, I can assure you of that. I have the next chapter ready. It will be posted in a few days, after I translate it. Let's hope nothing happens to the baby by the time Gaara finds them or Sakura escapes.
