Zoey walks up to the customer who had just entered the Talon. The coffee shop was busy like it was always on a Saturday afternoon. She had been excited when Max had agreed with her working part-time at the Talon once more. She hadn't talked with the Kents much since her disastrous attempt of apologizing to them. Living in a small town, made it hard to avoid people. Lex was the only other person in town that she talked to besides Lana. Through she had told Lex she couldn't help him investigate who had murdered his grandparents.

Many of the patrons of the Talon on a Saturday afternoon were students of Smallville High. "Welcome to..." she trails off when the customer looks at her. She clears her throat. "Welcome to the Talon. What can I get you?"

The customer smiles at her. "Just a cup of coffee."

"No problem," Zoey replies and walks away.

Hours later, when the afternoon rush had calmed down and Lana was busy, Zoey sits down across from the customer. "You know, a phone call would've worked," she softly says, smiling at him.

"I promised you that I would visit," he counters, smiling back at her. "It's nice. The Egyptian theme is…different."

"You spent three years on an island, Ollie. You don't get to judge other people's interior decorticating style."

"Zo, this is not you."

Zoey smiles as she looks around the Talon. "I should be able to cut out early. My car is parked outback. It's not hard to miss."

Zoey makes her way out to the back of the Talon and finds Oliver leaning against her red Porsche. Oliver taps the roof. "You're not hard to miss." She laughs and tightly embraces him. "I've missed you, Zo."

"I've missed you too, Ollie. Why didn't you tell me that you were coming?"

Oliver shrugs. "I wanted to surprise you. So, I told Austin that I would take over keeping an eye on you for the weekend."

Max had left that morning on an emergency business trip to New York and wouldn't be back until Monday. Zoey rolls her eyes. "I'm seventeen now. And I haven't gotten into any trouble. I don't need a babysitter. But I am glad that you're here."

Oliver reaches into his pocket and pulls out a small box. "Happy birthday, Zo," he softly tells her. She smiles and opens the box to find two keys on a chain. She shoots him a questioning look. "One is to my house and the other is for the penthouse. I realized that you didn't have your own keys."

Zoey leans up and softly kisses his cheek. "Thank you." He brushes a strand of hair out of her face. Then he presses his lips against hers. It's a slow kiss. She pulls back and smiles. "Now, who is kissing who."

Oliver laughs. He presses a quick kiss to her lips. "I think you need to show me around, Zo."

Zoey presses against him. She slides her arms around his waist. "What happens if I don't? What if I just took you right home?"

"We'd just end up spending more time in bed. But we need to at least grab something for dinner."

"A quick tour, then home. Order pizza. Then bed."

"Deal."

Zoey laughs as she pulls on her jeans after hearing the doorbell ring. The tour of Smallville had been very quick; she showed him Main Street and the high school, then they headed home. She had barely finished ordering the pizza before Oliver had been kissing her and pulling her jeans off. "We should probably head upstairs," she tells him.

"I would hope your bed is more comfortable than the kitchen floor," Oliver counters, smirking.

Zoey quickly kisses him before grabbing her wallet and heading towards the front door. She opens the door and stares, confused. "Lex, what are you doing here?"

Lex grabs her arms. "Are you involved? Please tell me you're not involved."

"Involved in what, Lex? Are you okay?"

"They're doing something to me. I know it."

Zoey winces. His grip on her arms had tightened. "Lex, please let me go. You're hurting me." Lex lets go of her arms. He grabs her face and kisses her. She tries pushing him away. Her back hits the wall with a thud.

Hearing the noise, Oliver runs out of the kitchen. He grabs Lex's arm and yanks him off. "Get off of her," he snaps. Zoey quickly moves behind Oliver, putting him between her and Lex.

"I knew you were involved," Lex shouts. "What do you know?"

Oliver shoves Lex towards the door. "I think you need to go."

Lex tries shoving Oliver out of the way. "Tell me what you know, Zoey! Tell me!"

Oliver punches Lex, knocking him down. Lex sits there for a moment, then stands up and runs out of the house. Oliver turns to Zoey. Her face was red where Lex had grabbed her. Her arms were the same way. "Zo, are you okay?"

"Yeah, yeah, I'll be fine," Zoey softly says. "I have no idea what he was talking about. I'm going to call Clark."

"Clark," Oliver questions, closing the front door.

"He's my godparent's son. He's really good friends with Lex. He can help."

Oliver sits on the arm of the couch. "Zo, I went to boarding school with Lex. I heard a story about him that happened a few years before I got there. He had a breakdown. The headmaster found him on a balcony, rocking a pile of blankets, and singing a lullaby. He could be having another breakdown."

"Then we need to help him, Ollie."

Oliver shakes his head. "Zoey, he could have hurt you or worse, if I wasn't here."

Zoey bites her lip. "Look, I'll call Clark and tell him that Lex was here. That's it. I won't get involved." There's a knock at the door and she jumps.

Oliver gently squeezes her hand. "I got this," he softly tells her. "Go make your phone call."

Zoey takes a deep breath as she looks up at Belle Reve Sanitarium. "You don't have to do this," Clark says. Since Lex's mental breakdown, their friendship had recovered. They had both been worried about Lex.

After hearing about Lana's accident, Oliver had refused to leave Smallville until Lex was in treatment, worried that Lex would show back up and do something that would get Zoey hurt or worse. Max had canceled his emergency meeting and headed right back to Smallville. Austin had also temporarily moved in, worried that Lex would do something. Jonathan and Martha had taken to checking in on her too. So, when she finally had a moment to herself while at the Talon one day and Clark had been there, she had told him that when he visited Lex she wanted to tag along.

Zoey shakes her head. "No, it's fine. It's just…this place seems very creepy."

After signing in at the visitor's desk, a pair of orderlies escort Clark and Zoey through the building. Zoey grabs Clark's hand. He lightly squeezes her hand in reassurance. "Look who it is." They turn to see Van McNulty. He had been committed earlier in the school year after trying to kill people who were meteor infected. "Hiya, freak," Van says, before lunging at Clark. Zoey quickly ducks behind him as the orderlies push him away. An orderly quickly leads them away. "You're the one that should be in here! They should lock you up, you freak!"

They pass another Smallville High schooler. Eric Summers. "Hey, Kent. It's me. Eric. Been struck by lightning lately?"

Ian Randall, also another Smallville High alum, walks past them pushing a car of books. "Good to see you, Clark, tell my favorite two ex-girlfriends I said hello."

"Keep moving, Ian," an orderly tells him.

"Jeez, you two seem to know a lot of people in here," the orderly says.

"Where's Lex," Clark asks.

The orderly leads them to where Lex was sitting at an easel, painting. "You got ten minutes."

They walk over to Lex. "Lex," Zoey cautiously greets.

"Zoey, Clark, I was wondering if I'd ever see you again," Lex replies, standing up. He grabs Clark's hand.

"We've been trying to visit you for the last month. The doctors said you weren't ready to see anyone," Clark tells him. "Are you okay?"

"I know your secret. Don't worry. I haven't said a word to anyone," Lex tells him. Clark glances at the security camera. "I need you to get me out of here. I've seen what you can do. The car hit you at sixty miles an hour and you tossed it like a toy. Breaking me out is not going to be too much of a challenge."

Clark glances at Zoey. "Lex, I want to—"

"Then do it, Clark. My father's never going to let me out. You're my friend. Please, Clark. Don't let me rot in this cesspool."

"Lex," Zoey softly says. "We want to help you, but…we can't help you do that."

Lex stares at them. Then he suddenly lunges at Clark. The orderlies rush over and pull Lex away. "Get that bastard out of my sight," Lex snaps, fighting against the orderlies. Zoey grabs Clark's arm and tugs him away as the other patients get riled up. "I'll never forgive you for this, Clark! Never! Never!"

"Clark, we need to go," Zoey tells him and they quickly make their way out of Belle Reeve. A silence falls over them as Zoey starts her car and they drive back towards Smallville. She bites her lip. "Well, if Lex tells anyone the truth, um, no one will believe him."

Zoey sighs as she stares at the ceiling of her bedroom. News of Lex's failed escape from Belle Reeve had made the news. "Are you sure that you don't want me to come back out there for a few days," Oliver asks.

"Ollie, I'm fine," Zoey tells him. "I…I visited Lex in the hospital."

"Why the fuck would you do that?"

"I wanted to make sure that he was okay."

"Zoey, he put your friend Lana in the hospital for a month. You had bruises for a couple of weeks. Don't go near Lex while he's in the hospital. Hell, don't go near him ever again. Promise me that you won't."

"Yeah. Okay."

"No. I want you to promise me, Zoey."

"Fine, Oliver. I promise."

Zoey and Max walk into the Smallville Physical Therapy center to find Lana finishing her physical therapy session. Zoey and Max exchange a look seeing exactly how close Lana was with the handsome young man. "Zoey, Max, what a surprise," Lana greets.

"Chloe called and asked if I could give you a ride home. She has a late deadline," Zoey brightly greets.

"And I'm just tagging along," Max adds. "Don't worry, I borrowed Austin's Range Rover."

"I'm going to go," the young man says.

"Okay," Lana tells him. They watch as he grabs a duffle bag and walks out of the building. Zoey and Max turn to Lana, waiting. "His name is Adam. And he's been helping me with therapy. But he's not my physical therapist."

Max laughs. "He's cute. You should ask him to coffee."

Zoey smiles as she grabs Lana's duffle bag. "You deserve to be happy, Lana. Clark has had too many chances. And while he would never knowingly put you in danger, you deserve to be happy too."

Zoey fiddles with her bracelet as she walks into Lex's study. She wouldn't deny that she was nervous. Clark had told her what happened to Lex and how he didn't remember the last few months. "Zoey," Lex says, standing up from his desk and walking around it. "I'm glad you came. They said you visited with Clark."

Zoey nods. "I-I-I wanted to see how you were doing. Have they said what caused…"

"Psychotic break due to trauma from the island. You?"

"Depression. Guilt. I still have to do therapy once a week."

Lex moves closer to her. "The treatment I had takes away my need to do therapy."

"Umm. Yeah. I'd rather still do therapy than that."

"What are you doing tomorrow night?"

"Nothing."

"There's a new restaurant in Metropolis. I was thinking of trying it out tomorrow night."

"Are you asking me on a date?"

Lex shrugs. "You can call it whatever you want."

Zoey smiles. "You can pick me up at seven."

You drive me crazy, I just can't sleep
I'm so excited, I'm in too deep
Whoa, crazy, but it feels alright
Baby, thinking of you keeps me up all night
Oh, oh
