Sakura's heart broke at the sight of Sasuke being strapped to a chair and looking so vulnerable. He looked calm, perhaps lethargic.
"Alright, he can't see us or hear us so we can talk" the lady told Sakura while moving Sasuke's head showing his earplugs.
Without warning, she grabbed a tube, inserted it in Sasuke's nose, and began pushing it inside. Sasuke began to whimper, and his eyes were tearing up. He was not really resisting but it was rather a reflex responding to a painful stimulus.
"I'll eat" Sasuke said quietly.
The lady ignored Sasuke and kept up pushing the tube.
"He said he would eat" Sakura interrupted.
"I'll eat" Sasuke said one more time, this time louder than the last time.
"Stop, he is complying" Sakura repeated.
"Oh, I heard him" the lady said.
"Why aren't you stopping?" Sakura questioned her.
"This is part of his intervention plan; I am not instructed to stop under any circumstances" the woman responded.
Sakura did not say anything else for fear of being kicked out. She simply watched in horror as Sasuke was being hurt.
"Alright, done" said the lady and she removed the tube from Sasuke's throat and nose.
Sasuke gagged once and coughed a little.
"Alrighty, let me go get his interrogator" the lady said as if nothing had happened.
"Are you okay staying here for a minute?" she asked Sakura who simply nodded.
"Is she gone?" Sasuke asked.
Sakura was surprised to hear Sasuke.
"yes" Sakura responded doubting he could hear her.
"Thank you … for being here" Sasuke said.
Sakura looked surprised; she did not understand.
"…. Sakura" he added.
Sakura was astonished. How did he know she was there? She put her hand on his shoulder to let him know she was there.
A man came into the room once again accompanied by the lady from before. They began taking Sasuke's straitjacket off and removed it up to his hip.
Sakura's heart broke once again when she saw Sasuke's bruised torso. He looked so fragile.
They injected something in his arm and forced some drops down his throat.
"let's get out now" the lady signaled Sakura.
They left the room and were standing looking through the window.
"Every 10 minutes you'll be asked to go in to check his vitals" the woman told Sakura and she nodded.
The interrogator began to circle around Sasuke.
"What is your name?" the interrogator asked.
"Sasuke…. Uchiha Sasuke" Sasuke responded sounding lethargic.
"Why are you here?" the man asked.
"to pay for my crimes" Sasuke responded.
"Good" the man assured him.
"Now, what exactly is your crime?" the man asked.
"I betrayed my village" Sasuke responded softly.
"Indeed, you did" the man answered "now, I hear you were associated with the Akatsuki" he finished.
"yes" Sasuke forcefully whispered.
"You left the village to join those who had conspired and attack it, you join a terrorist group and tried to kill protectors of the world, you attempted to kill your teammates, and terrorized entire cities" the man said "I want you to look at me and deny what you have done" the man finished while uncovering Sasuke's eyes.
"I did it" Sasuke murmured as his strength was leaving his body.
Sasuke's face and torso were bruised. His breath was superficial, and he was becoming visibly weaker. His hair was sticking to his sweaty forehead and his face was becoming flushed. His bloodshot eyes were half opened and he could barely look at his interrogator.
Sakura received a cue and was asked to check on Sasuke. She entered the room and immediately began to assess his condition.
"He is very hot" Sakura said touching his forehead "He has a high fever" she finished.
"As intended" responded the man "the drugs we've given him are meant to do that, that's why you are here…. To make sure he doesn't die during treatment" the man finished.
"His heart is racing" she said as she proceeded to check his pupil "His mental state might be compromised" she deduced from looking at Sasuke's altered mental state.
"Is he about to drop dead in the next 5 minutes?" the man asked.
"No, but …" she began saying.
"Then return to your position" the man interrupted.
Sakura was stupefied but complaining now could result in her being thrown out altogether. She returned to her original position and the interrogation continued.
"I understand your brother killed your family" the man asked Sasuke who simply nodded "answer that"
"He did…. As asked by the village" Sasuke responded.
"Is that what truly happened?" the man asked "last I checked the Uchihas were rebellious and dangerous people" the man continued.
"Isn't it true that you that your father tried to murder the Hokage?" The man asked.
"No, never" Sasuke answered.
"Don't you remember?" the man said "it was a cold night when you woke up from a nightmare and went to see your mother, do you remember" the man added.
"Mother…" Sasuke simply whispered.
"You wanted your mother's comfort but instead you heard your father conspiring and confessing to your mother his desire to murder the Hokage" the man continued.
"No …. No" Sasuke interrupted.
"You were scared and ran to your brother instead" the man continued getting louder ignoring Sasuke's constant denial.
"You told him and he killed your father" the man continued despite Sasuke's pleas for him to stop.
"You killed your father" the man added.
At this point, Sasuke broke down in tears through his confusion.
"You killed your father through your brother and once he died you attempted to kill the Hokage with Orochimaru, recognize it" the man yelled once again.
"I did, is that what you want to hear" Sasuke yelled.
"Remember what you have done" the man continued.
"I did it, I killed my father, and my mother, and my brother, and I tried to kill the Hokage" Sasuke broke down.
"Tell me about Madara, don't you remember the hot summer night when he called you by the fire and called you son" the man continued.
"He called me son" Sasuke just whispered barely conscious.
"He confessed his plan and took you as his child" the man added.
"He did" Sasuke kept on whispering.
"Did you, or did you not take part in his plan of destruction?" the man asked
"I… did…I did it all" Sasuke said.
At this point, Sasuke fell to the floor. He was delirious and whispering something that could not be understood.
Sakura and the other woman immediately made it into the room. They began talking but Sakura was not listening. She was trying to comfort the delirious Sasuke who kept on repeating "I've done it"
"He is very hot" Sakura said "his pulse is weak" she added.
They were interrupted by Sasuke's choking sounds. Sakura immediately turned him on the side, and he vomited on his side only producing the liquid from before.
"Assure his wellness so we can continue" the man said ruthlessly.
The man's remarks were interrupted by Sasuke's very sudden seizure. At this point, everyone knew something was very wrong.
Sasuke moved Sasuke to his side and accommodated his head so he would not hurt himself. She was softly comforting him and soon the worst passed.
"His fever is too high" Sakura said.
"That is part of the plan" the man said.
"He'll die" she yelled.
The man thought for a second before realizing something had to be done.
"What do we need to do?" the man asked.
"His body is not cooling off" she said while holding Sasuke's limp body "we need water and ice".
Sakura was desperate. She was confused. Why had Sasuke confessed to things she knew had never happened and why was his condition so quickly deteriorating? What she knew was that Sasuke was quickly dying in her arms, and something needed to be done.
The peace was far gone.
