Sakura gave a sick notice the next day which would totally make sense given what she had experienced the day before.
She left town early in the morning and walked until noon when she found a cabin outside of the city. After knocking on the door, a woman came out.
"Who are you?" the woman said impolitely
"I am here to talk about one of your cases at the Torture and Interrogation Force" Sakura said.
"I am sorry, but I can't help you" the woman said shutting the door close.
"They are going to kill my friend" Sakura yelled while knocking on the door.
"I cannot help you" the woman said from behind the door.
"I am not giving up; I am going to stay here until I get answers" Sakura kept on yelling.
"Be my guest" the lady said.
"At least look at him" Sakura said sliding a picture of Sasuke under the door.
"I said I can't…." the woman said while looking at the picture.
"You have 5 minutes" the woman said opening the door.
"Thank you" Sakura responded.
"Make it quick" the woman responded.
"Why did you leave the force?" Sakura asked.
"I didn't agree with everything they were doing" the woman said lighting a cigarette "you see, your friend is no saint, but he doesn't deserve what is being done to him"
"What is being done to him?" Sakura asked.
"We drugged him, forced fed him, beat him up, gave him pills to cause high fevers, we left him without water for days, you name it…" The lady said.
"Why did you not agree if you had done it before?" Sakura asked.
"He cooperated every time" she said "there was not a thing he would hide when asked" she added.
"I have facilitated torture of people who have hostages, and ties with terrorist groups, but this boy had nothing. He cooperated every time and there was no proof of him being currently associated with any dangerous groups" the lady said regretfully "I just couldn't be a part of this boy's murder".
"Why didn't you do anything?" Sakura said getting agitated.
"You think I didn't try? I was going to be imprisoned for insubordination" she added "I currently receiving protection for what I know. Perhaps, it is a good time for you to leave" the woman said opening the door.
"You have to help me" Sakura implored her.
"I am sorry I can't, perhaps this will be helpful" she said handing Sakura a book.
"I kept a journal with everything that was done to him" she said before sending Sakura away.
Sakura made sure no one was following her and met with Tsunade, Kakashi, and Naruto to read the journal.
"It has been three months since we started working on him. Today, we questioned the suspect about his ties with Akatsuki. He was very cooperative, yet I was asked to induce him with a high fever. We proceeded to expose him to high-voltage electricity. He screamed and trembled until he lost control of his bladder. We left him in his dirty clothes for days. We proceeded to…." Sakura had been reading for a while.
"Enough" Tsunade said stopping Sakura.
"I can't stay here; I have to see him" Naruto said while pacing around the room.
"What do you suggest we do?" Kakashi said.
"I cannot give him a public pardon" Tsunade answered "yet we could use the journal of evidence of brutality and malicious intent to subjugate without trial"
"If you put him in protective custody, the council will figure out a way to remove you and the interim Hokage will send him right back" Kakashi informed them.
"If we manage to make the case public, they would not be able to remove you until the trial is finished" Sakura said.
"And they do not know where he is, we can create a case and only produce him when tried" Naruto added.
"Very well, then we'll have to break him out and make a case before sunrise" Tsunade said.
They came up with a plan and got going before sundown. Ino and Hinata would make their way in with the excuse of Ino wanting to continue her father's legacy. Then Shikamaru and Choji would make a false report and Kiba would be at the reported sight to delay backup. Once their defense was debilitated, Sai would exchange Sasuke for a clone.
The plan had started. Shikamaru and Choji made an anonymous report on seeing a terrorist group hiding in a remote place within the city. Many forces from divisions left and Kiba started creating a false track. Shino reported an injury resulting in more forces being sent.
Once the facility had weakened in security, Ino and Hinata came in. It was hard for them to be allowed in but after Ino's heartfelt words about her father's legacy, they were allowed in for 10 minutes.
Ino and Hinata began asking all kinds of questions to see if they would be allowed in Sasuke's cell.
"So, what do you do?" Ino asked the guard outside Sasuke's cell.
"I guard the most dangerous people in the world" the man said.
"I bet you are a very brave man" she said.
"You have said it yourself" the man responded.
"And tell me what your every day is like?" Ino continued.
"I can't respond to that" the man said.
"I understand" Ino said continuing with the flirting.
Sai began making his way into the room with the excuse of conducting an emergency interrogation necessary for an Ambu mission.
"My father served here" Ino said as she started talking about her father and crying hysterically.
Sai painted a key and opened the door to Sasuke's cell. Sasuke didn't seem to notice Sai or he simply didn't care much.
Ino kept on crying and hugging the man at the door while Sai uncovered Sasuke's eyes. He signaled Sasuke to be silent with Sasuke simply looked around silently.
Sai started helping Sasuke into a large box he had brought. When Sasuke stood up, he fell back on his seat making a loud noise. The guard began turning around when Ino suddenly kissed him. The man was surprised but soon followed Ino's lead.
Sai signaled someone inside the box to help him put Sasuke inside. They grabbed Sasuke and put him in the box. Then Sai closed the box and wheeled it out not before leaving a clone behind.
"I am finished here" Sai said calmly.
"Wait" said the man turning away from Ino "what's in the box?"
"My equipment" Sai said calmly "would you like to see?"
The man thought for a second, Sai simply smiled, while Hinata and Ino looked at each other nervously.
"Go ahead" the man said.
Sai simply smiled and opened the box.
Ino and Hinata looked relieved when they saw the equipment in the box.
"Alright, go ahead" the man said signaling the door.
Sai left quickly.
"So where did we leave it" the man said.
"I gotta go, good night" Ino said.
"But wait, where are you going" the guard asked.
"It's past my bedtime" Ino said rapidly heading for the door.
"Will I see you again soon?" the guard asked.
"I don't know, maybe? Bye bye" Ino said closing the door behind her.
Hinata and Ino looked at each other and sighed in relief.
At the reported site, Ambu and many members of different forces had the perimeter surrounded.
"Come out or we will have no mercy" a man said.
Soon Akamaru came out simply barking at them.
To their disappointment and relief, the place was empty, and nothing was found in the building other than the dog.
On the other hand, Sasuke was looking down inside the box. Sakura soon came out of the shadow and used a knife to cut Sasuke's straitjacket. She gave him a soft smile as her eyes filled with tears. He barely made eye contact with her and soon looked down again.
"You are safe now" Sakura whispered as they felt the box moving as if they were in a cart.
Peace reigned once again.
