Chapter 50: Wrath of Titans
"So your saying this villain named Cronus escaped from a prison and working with the same guy from Downland?" Sky was on the phone after Ben contacted the Specialists with what has been going on. So far the keyblade masters have preparing certain things to help train new generation of heroes and keybladers to be ready. The trio decided to give the others a heads up should they need back up.
Ben nodded to confirm the prince's question. "Yeah, and from what we've been told he's real bad news for them and working with the guy named Kefka, something about him seems off and not the funny way."
"Yeah, I remember after he easily took out Stormy with one blast like it was nothing to him. I'll inform Headmaster Saladin about this, maybe see if we can do something to help." Sky gave a thought when they could least do is to offer some help.
"If it gets serious we'll do. But unfortunately have no idea what abilities or how strong this Cronus is." Ben admitted when he heard about this villain being a god and strong enough to face Zeus himself gave some concern to Ben. He spotted Taren coming over and decided to finish the conversation for now to check the others. "Listen, we'll call you for anything else, there's a group of kids about our age that just got caught up into the hero thing they're about to face."
"Kinda reminds us of how we all started, huh?" Sky let out a chuckle. "Sure thing, best of luck to you guys."
Ben hangs up and turned to Taren who had his phone in his hand. "So anything to know?"
"Yeah, but unfortunately the Winx won't make it when they told me of a situation in Alfea about some block that appeared out of nowhere and trying to destroy it." Taren said. "They think it could be the work of this Darkar guy, probably trying to catch us off guard."
"Man, they're nothing like the Trix. Tezzeret, maybe, but this is just new." Ben had to admit this looking serious for them. "Least we can get help from the keyblade masters to help us."
Taren nodded to agree with him. "I wonder how Mal is doing. Maybe take the moment to check on the three."
After explaining their part of the story of how the three first became keybladers, it took their new friends by surprise to learn so much of other worlds and magic, having to face an evil warlord with witches and an army of monsters some time ago and yet they pulled through to defeat him. They only told a little of the story of what happened to give some time for them to absorb all this after what happened to them today and seems the three were taken it easy for the moment. They entered the training facility where they be testing the new heroes' powers, wanting to be certain they were ready for when the time comes to face Cronus. Herry was the first with his father to add some heavy weights to test his strength while Jay and Atlanta stood by the side with Hera and Artemis.
Jay seems somewhat sceptical of this with how heavy the weights were and doubted that Herry could lift them with his body mass. "Nobody could lift that much weight."
This did not escape Taren and Ben who shared a smirk, given that both of them know Herry's powers but said nothing. Hercules grins with amusement to see his face of what happens. "Herry?"
Herry took a deep breath and exhales before he lifted the weights with both hands, and now holds them up with only one. He could not help but chuckle of how easy that was for him. "That was too easy."
But Hercules decided to throw another set for his son to catch, catching Herry by surprise before he was able to lift the other, suprising both Jay and Atlanta.
"Wow!" Atlanta whispered and amazed how he could do that.
"Your turn." Artemis told her, which surprised the now nervous Atlanta to show what she can do.
For her test was to run across the course as fast as she possibly can, to everyone but the gods' amazement she was indeed a fast runner. "Okay, Atlanta, moving it up!"
Atlanta took her advice and pushed herself to the limit, to a normal person she became a fast moving blur circling around them. Artemis became impressed and nodded to Hercules to try something else. He caught her gesture and pushed a red button, causing three walls to rise up to force the speedster hero to jump over them, and run up the wall, leaping from statue to statue to avoid the shooting disks until she landed back on her feet, catching the last one in her hand with a success.
"Wow, she's really good." Taren sounded impressed after the demonstration.
Ben nodded when they learned of her ability to use superspeed.
She ran back to them, now appeared to be exhausted with the demonstration and trying to catch her breath. "You know you could have told me things were gonna shoot at me."
"Pop quiz." The goddess of the hunt said with a smile. "Nice job, Atlanta. Very impressive."
This brought some memories of their training with Macbeth. "Kinda reminds me of how I had to run and avoid projectiles." Ben said.
Jay seems uncertain about this and turned to Hera. "I can't do anything like that."
"You're the leader, Jay. Their fate rests in your hands, as does the fate of the world." She reminded for he will one day to face Cronus.
Jay knew about this but feels he may not be good, having to learn much about Taren, Ben, and Mal, they seem to have gotten use to it and have powers. While Atlanta and Herry had gotten the hang of theirs, Jay, however, being without powers felt like a burden. "This is too much."
Hera understood what he was thinking and perhaps put them through a lot for one day. She rests her hand on his shoulder. "It is a lot for one night, you all need to get some rest. You must be tired, we have a place for you to stay."
Jay appreciated the offer but one thing that was on his mind that worried him. "What about our parents? My folds must be wondering where I am."
"Not to worry, Jay. I just spoke to some of our friends who have that covered up to avoid suspicion and worry." Taren assured him after giving their report to the others, least be better than the idea Hermes had for making Jay's story about going to space camp to be an astronaut.
The teens decided to make their leave from school and walk to the house they be staying in while the keybladers accompany them. But they knew something was on Jay's mind and obvious to what it was about.
"Hey, Jay, you okay?" Ben asked if he wanted to talk about it.
Jay sighed and decided to say something. "This is nuts! They've made a mistake, I'm not who they think I am! I'm not a hero."
They listened to his reason and could understand the feeling of it. Atlanta did not seem to think so by his claim for what he said. "I don't know, Jay. You saved me from that giant."
Jay remembered how that happened when she was in danger and caught her while riding a griffin before the giant that was after Atlanta could get close. He admit that was true but didn't seem to convinced him. "Yeah, but that was instinct."
"Instinct?" Atlanta quoted and not sure what he meant.
"Look, you guys know who you are and what you can." Jay turned to Atlanta. "You're fast and you know how to hunt. Herry, you're strong. Taren, Ben, and Mal, they have those magic keyblades and do all sorts of magic. Me? I'm nothing."
"Hey, don't be so hard on yourself, those gods back there must know what they're doing." Herry reasoned with him.
"Yeah, and we know how you felt when this whole saving the world thing became serious to us and gained the keyblades." Ben explained to him. "Before I got mine, I was just a normal regular kid like you before our home got attacked by Grimm a year ago."
Atltanta could feel bad for what happened to them, but relieved to know that their families still save and helping them. Looks to the house before them that would serve as a dormitory for them, "Here's the dormitory. Who's this Athena? You know that's supposed to take care of us."
She was widely known to the keybladers, Herry, a little but let Jay have his go to explain as he appears to be an expert of the myth and legends. "She's the goddess of War."
"Ouch, seriously?" Herry cringes, now more afraid to meet her. "Hey, how do you know all this stuff?"
"My mom's Greek." Jay stated about his heritage but decided to get his mind off of things for the moment. "Listen, you guys go, I need to take a walk. I'll see you later."
They decided to let him be on his own and while it was still morning to get themselves some breakfast.
At the Olympus Port and the ship had docked, Cronus noticed it was now morning, the sun would be up very shortly and would draw a lot of attention if they let the monsters out at daylight. "Let's wait until nightfall, then we will release him. We don't want to attract attention, not yet."
Kefka decided to go along with the idea, much to his reluctance but had to avoid being notice for now. "Provided we can convince our new pal to stay in his room for another few hours."
Cronus took the moment to walk to the catch to speak with the creature they brought with. "Be patient, my demon friend."
A loud roar and bursting through the cage was a giant serpentine beast with a skull for a face, split lower jaws, horns and crimson red eyes. Its long tongue lashed before retreating to its jaws and lowered its head to Cronus.
Cronus needed to remind the creature of the arrangements they made after setting it free. "Remember our deal." Narrowed his eyes at it with no sense of fear in his expression.
It turned its attention to Kefka, who smiled and waved at it, then turned to one of the giants and flared its nostrils before noticing another who looked more afraid than the others. Scaring him away with its powerful jaws and enough to make him abandon ship.
"Hey! Where are you going?" Kefka went to the edge with the other to watch the blue skinned giant run away. "One look and he runs away like a chicken."
"Let him go." Cronus told them as he stood beside them. "The meek don't inherit the Earth."
Kefka and the giant looked at each other and said nothing, but to Kefka, he knew that a giant running around the city in the middle of the day would spell trouble. And fear. Something he would enjoy to see the horrified looks of the humans.
With breakfast made, the teens gathered to the table to listen to Ben and Taren's stories of their adventures while their breakfast was being made.
"So this other world has fairies and witches in it?" Atlanta found it surprising and pictured them so small and witches riding broomsticks and hats like in the Harry Potter novels and movies.
"Yeah, but much different as they're normal looking like us but with magic." Ben described to her. "They can transform and use their magic, they handled themselves well. Even the Specialists helped us."
"I would love to see how they train as heroes, Phil would get plenty of ideas." Herry commented and imagines him going nuts through all the training ideas for him.
"And Taren's really dating one of them, Taren?" Atlanta asked of the fellow red head with a grin. "Not to mention a princess? Man, talk about being lucky."
"Oh, yeah, we saw it a moment they met and took awhile but came to a surprise how it turned out." Ben said, and no doubt she was surprised to find out Ben's an actual prince, but impressed how he's gotten use to the sort of thing instead of just running a kingdom. "Mal should be here any moment now, just in time for some breakfast.
They stopped talking when a woman with short dark purple hair brought two plates of eggs, bacon, and pancakes.
Herry smiles and smelled how good it looked. "Thanks, looks great!" Gave his compliments to the goddess and relative.
Atlanta took his compliment well and smiled to watch him chow down on his breakfast. "You're welcome, I can see cooking for you will keep me busy. Would you like some toast?"
Herry took a bit of his food and smiled. "Yeah, sure!"
"I wouldn't mind, thanks." Ben added.
The red haired speedster was surprised how good she was and thought she be some scary warrior for being the goddess of war according to what she was told. "I thought you were a goddess of war? I was expecting you to be mean, not making us breakfast." Then she saw Athena pull out a Kopis sword, making her and Ben watch nervously of what she was about to use it.
"Don't be silly, I like to cook." She simply said, slashing it down on the pile of toast like a knife through butter. "Toast?" Scooping one side of it with the sword to offer them.
Ben was hesitant but accepted some of it. "Uh, sure."
Atlanta however, looked nervous with the sword close to her and politely declined. "Oh, no thanks, I'm good."
Herry on the other hand, barely seemed fazed about it and eagerly took the rest off the sword.
Ben decided to let Gabumon have some food to eat to get some energy and a time to introduce to his partner. "Hey, wanna meet my partner?"
Both looked at him and nodded when they heard about the Digimon, Atlanta was curious and wanted to see them. He pulled out his Digivice to show them and switched it on to bring Gabumon out. The beam of light shot out and took form of the Digimon, to them he looked like a lizard with wolf-skin used for fur.
"Atlanta this is Gabumon." Ben introduced to the small Digimon who climbed onto the chair.
"Nice to meet you." Gabumon spoke to greet her.
"Wow, amazing. So there are others like him?" Atlanta asked him.
"About 4 so far, we just met a girl named Layla who had her own somehow and still some questions. Taren is paired up with Agumon and Mal with Palmon."
"Really, so is it true your girlfriend is a witch as well?" Herry asked him. Suddenly caught Ben off guard when he was having his juice and spattered it out by accident.
Coughing and clearing his throat after nearly choking by surprise after he was unprepared of what Herry just asked him. "Huh?" Not certain where that came from and looked at the brunette in wonder while Gabumon patted him on the back to help.
"Sorry, I kinda thought that… well, you and her look… close." Herry did seem to jump to the conclusion by accident after first meeting her.
"No! I mean, well-we're good friends, just that and… well even if she seemed hard to get along at first but really is kind and caring to us." Ben somewhat felt his face flushed a little but tries to deny admitting about his crush for her.
"Really? I thought the way you thought of her was-" Gabumon was suddenly pulled from the table by Ben in a hurry.
"Uh, be right back gotta check on the others!"
This did not escape Atlanta' notice and smiles to notice the signs. Leans towards Herry with a grin on her face. "Obviously something going on between them."
"Wha? Really? Ben?" Herry had to admit that he didn't had much feelings to Audrey like he did before, kept his thoughts about her from Ben to keep their friendship strong, but if something was going on with him and that Mal girl, probably better than with the princess.
Atlanta was busy doing some cooking and had something to ask them. "Did Jay say where he was going?"
Speaking of Jay, he was wondering through the town to ponder through his head of all that was happening and believed he may not be good enough to be a hero like the others. Thinking maybe he should perhaps head back home and try to be a normal teenager as he can be.
"Jay!"
He spun around and spotted Taren from a few feet waving to him.
"Taren? What are you doing here?" Jay asked him and surprised that he was looking for him.
Taren was able to catch up to him and by the traffic lights to talk. "Listen, about what you said. Well, the thing is you weren't the only one who had the same idea when it happened to us." Decided to share his part of the experience. "I know it's all scary and not what you expect, sometimes life happens as we never know what comes next. Like how I never thought I be following in my parents footstep."
"So how did you handle? It must have been hard on you guys." Jay asked him.
"Well, lets just say I still wondered if I was good enough but soon in the end came to see why I was chosen. Even the most unexpected ones could be something special to prove themselves." Taren explains to him, suddenly heard the sound of cars crashed into each other, people running and screaming. "What's going on?"
They spotted the blue giant from their previous encounter, running amok and causing destruction in its path.
"No way!" Jay exclaimed and startled that it was all the way here.
They realised it was causing more harm by knocking down the telephone post, falling to where an old lady was standing. Jay reacted and rushed over to her rescue. "Look out!"
Taren barely caught up to him when Jay threw himself to push the woman out of the way, fortunately they both made it through and not harmed. "Jay, get her to safety!" He told Jay and had to think of a plan, unable to risk letting Agumon out to cause further panic and confusing, decided to try something else when the giant was following the two. Jay stepped out to catch the giant's attention and both noticed the cut wire that was sparkling, Taren used some magic he learned and created sparks of fire and light towards him.
The blue giant was caught off guard, trying to see and escape the moving clouds, but not aware of Jay seeing this as a chance to grab a plank of wood to toss the wire at him without getting electrocuted himself. The wire wrapped itself around the giant's arm, screaming in pain of his arm and decided to make a retreat to escape the two who fought him.
Both teens avoided his path and watched him leave, Jay turned to see the old woman who he saved. "Thank you, you're very brave."
Jay was relieved to see she was unharmed and decided to go after it with Taren to follow.
The blue giant made it back to the docks and bowed to Cronus in hopes of being forgiven for his cowardly act of running away.
Cronus was surprised to find the giant returned and believed to try worming his way back. "Back so soon?"
The blue monster spoke in some language that only Cronus seemed to understood what he was saying. "What? They're here?" More alert to see where they could be hiding, Cronus had to admit, he did not expected to find them nearby and so soon. His eyes scanned the area and found two teenagers by the corner of the building.
Jay gasped that he was spotted until Taren pulled him back when they believed he just caught a glimpse. "Come on, its only a couple of giants and a crazy immortal god."
"Who happens to be friends with an even more crazier psycho with magic?" Taren pointed it out and both knew they had to get back. Suddenly he was grabbed by the collar and surprised to find Mal who clamped their mouths with her hands.
"Shh! We gotta get out of here!" She whispered and wanted to leave before they drew attention, conjuring her magic to teleport them away as fast as possible. This however, did not escape Kefka's notice after he had been hiding from the side and used his magic to hide his presence.
"Ooh, this is interesting."
They made it back to Olympus High to tell the others what happened, Jay decided to speak with Hera of his decision, Taren can tell it was too much for him to handle and did not hold it against him. Meanwhile he was with Mal and wondered where she had been during the time.
"So anything that happened to you?" He asked her.
"Came back with some bit of back up and then found a boat that had some monster I heard this morning, but with a lot of bad guys present it was better to keep a distance from them." Mal explains to him of what she was doing.
"So you saw what they had?" Ben heard her when he came in to see Mal before them. After they heard what happened decided to rush over to find out what they learned.
"Yeah, big and terrifying. Probably what scared that giant from earlier." Mal recalled from what she saw. "Whatever it is, that Cronus guy has big plans for the snake."
"That doesn't sound good." Atlanta grimaced of the idea of a monster snake.
"So who did you bring?"
"Well… its still counts as the help we can get but…" Decided show him and gestured from what she was talking about and stepping into their view came Mirta, much to Taren and Ben's surprise.
"Mirta?"
"H-Hi, guys. Surprise?" Mirta nervously smiled and noticed the looks given to her. "Okay, hear me out, I know it's a bad idea and my dad would totally kill me if he knew. But after all that's happened I wanted to do something to help, with my illusions it could be of great use for cover and hide when needed."
The keybladers had to admit she brings up a valid point of her powers, but afraid she has no experience of this sort of combat that they were used to and could get hurt. Taren wanted to be sure if she was up for it. "Mirt? Are you sure this is the choice you made?"
Mirta nodded without hesitation. "I'm not the same witch as before, after seeing how my dad fought against the Grimm, I wanted to be something better and why I chose to attend Alfea to prove myself. But don't worry, I know I'm not experienced in fighting but will do what I can to help anyway possible."
"You have to admit, we need all the help we can get and still no sign of the rest of the four heroes to find." Mal informed them.
Thinking it through and made their decision in reluctance. "Okay, Mirta you don't need to prove yourself after what happened, but if you think your heart is in the right place, we won't say no." Ben told her.
Mirta understood and relieved. "Great, it was lucky that I was on my break while doing some catching up on my studies. Figured it be better to do something than sit around."
"Well, glad we have some help on the way." Atlanta seems okay with it and gave her support. She spotted Jay and runs to him. "Jay, you're here!"
"No. I'm out of here." Jay said, catching everyone by surprise of his choice. "You were right, Atlanta, this is just a crazy dream!"
Making his exit as the others were confused of what happened and decide to run after him.
Ben turned to ask Hera what happened. "What was that about?"
"Something he has to find out on his own, and you all must be prepared. Cronus has released Typhoeus from his cage." The queen of Olympus told them.
"That must what he's hiding in that ship! And heard a lot of him, not good." Mal said.
"Least we now know what's going on and hopefully Jay makes his decision fast." Ben could hope he knows what was best for the choice he makes.
"I hope your friend isn't too worried about it, besides at least I'm willing to help." Mirta did not know what was going with limited details of the three she just met, but felt bad for the one named Jay who seemed to be afraid just how she was. "Kinda reminds me when I was afraid of the Trix."
"Least you stood up to them, that's for sure." Taren said to her, earning a smile from her of his comment. "Give him time, he's still going through a lot."
"Well, you be glad to know that Herry and Atlanta decided to go along with this after I've told them about how we went through, seemed to have inspired them to do something right. Even Herry couldn't let someone like cronus or other villains wanting to destroy all we care for." Hearing from Ben telling them about Artemis and Herry accepting their new roles pleased Hera.
"It seems we made the right choice to have you three here to help them find their destinies. Now go, they'll need your help to stop him, at least until we search for the rest of the heroes." Allowing them to find the others while also to follow Mal and Taren back to the docks to where Cronus and Kefka should be.
They went to the docks to gather some intel of what was happening, careful to avoid drawing attention and sneaking through to get close to the freighter as they can.
"This the one?" Ben pointed to the large ship that appeared to be empty and abandoned.
Mal nods her head. "Yep." Then spotted their new friends who followed them and to their relief, Jay was with them. "So you decided to join and be a hero after all?"
Jay smiles to them and felt more confident than he was before. "After some convincing talks and how you all went through, I couldn't just walk away and let Cronus do this when lives are at stake."
This made the keybladers smile and glad he fully accepted it. "Great, and now to test that when we find the snake."
"Hold on." Mirta decided to use her magic and create an illusion to cover their presence. "There, I should be able to hold this up to sneak through."
Jay found the idea useful and found no one. "Looks like they're gone. We just need to find out if the Typhoeus is on that ship."
"That should be the easy part." Mal hoped this idea worked.
"Well, if what you told us is true, a huge fire-breathing giant shouldn't be too hard to find." Artemis thought it be easy to spot it.
"But sometimes, they can hide in places we never know." Ben reminded her when Cronus somehow brought it here by ship.
Jay agreed with him on that. "Come on, let's take a look." Before he could take a step, Herry stopped him.
"Wait a second, if we find a huge fire-breathing giant, what do we do?"
That certainly was a good reason to ask for some who were new to all this. "Yeah, apart from the three, the rest of us don't have any weapons." Atlanta brought up.
"We got Herry, he's our weapon." Jay said, much to the shock of Herry who was declared their weapon until Jay spoke out to reason. "Don't worry about it, we'll leave that to keybladers, they obviously know what to do. But I think maybe to cause some distraction if need to. If it's here, we'll tell Hera and get some help."
"Seriously?" Mal pondered if that was his best idea.
"Well, you have to admit we don't know anything about it." Ben went along with Jay's plan. "But, I think we should go along with Jay's idea for now."
"Besides fire-breathing, was there anything else you know, Mal?" Taren questioned her of anything she had to share before they would confront it.
"Uh….no." Much to Mal's annoyance that she did not get a clear look at it.
"The vote has been cast, we go with Jay's." Taren resisted the urge to smirk in victory, knowing Mal's look giving him the annoying glare.
Mirta tries to hide the snicker and earn Mal's attention. "Drop it." Letting Mirta get to her position while the rest make their way to the ship and search the top deck for the creature if it was still around, Atlanta and Mal spotted the cage with a hole made, bended upwards.
"Looks like something already busted out of here." Atlanta told them. "We might be too late guys."
However, the two spotted a pair of glowing eyes from the shadows and a growl.
"Or… not." Atlanta corrected herself and felt the ground shake.
"Yoohoo!"
A shadow jumped through the air, curled up and landed on his feet like an acrobat. In front of them was none other than Kefka "Surprise! Welcome, one and all to the fight between heroes and villains! Trust me, your gonna love it!"
The keybladers immediately summoned their keyblades ready for a fight while the remaining four stood their ground.
"Kefka, right?" Taren glares at him.
"Wha? You know of me?" Kefka sounded surprised and annoyed. "Way da go spoiling my moment, red! Nah, I'm just kidding! Saves the trouble withgrumpy in there." Pointing his thumb over his shoulder to the continued banging made by Typhoeus.
"Ah, I see you met my friends." They hear another voice and turned around to witness Cronus stepping out after stepping out of the room he was in. "We haven't formally met, have we, Jay? I wasn't sure you'd come back since you ran so quickly earlier, but I'm glad you did." Turning his attention to the keybladers. "Ah, you must be the new generation of Keyblade Wielders I've heard so much about. A little younger than I expected."
"You think this was some sort of a cartoon or a game?" Kefka muttered under his breath while sitting down with his legs crossed. "Actually that would be interesting."
Cronus continued on to earn their attention of his reasons for coming. "You see, I heard something about how you and your friends here were going to try and stop me." Gave out a soft chuckle. "Well, I wanted to talk to you about that?"
"I don't feel like talking. Not to you!" Jay told him, no longer showing any fear to the god.
Cronus noticed something was different, while counting out the keybladers. All he noticed that there were in fact three of the heroes out of. "Where are the others, apart from the rest I thought there were supposed to be seven heroes."
"It's six against two. I think we're good." Herry was ready for a fight with them as Atlanta leapt over them, pulls out a metal pole for a weapon.
"Yeah, I'm good with that!"
"Oh, I'm sure." Cronus chuckles as his minions stepped out of their hiding spot. "But I'm better."
The monsters begin their attack on the heroes to try and subdue them, however Artemis struck the red one's gut with the pipe then the foot. Herry easily overpowered the two with his super-strength while Jay fights against the yellow giant with the hood over its head.
"I'll play fair… fairly dirty, that is!" Kefka makes a high jump, folding himself and spread his arms to make a dive to catch the keybladers by surprise, even more so by summoning his scythe. The three jumped out of the way to avoid his scythe. Swings it in a circle and made his first attack to Ben who was forced to cast Reflect in time for the coming blade, Taren jumped to make his attack, but Kefka reached out and grabbed it with his bare hand and called out. "Freeze!"
Taren's body was frozen mid air, unable to move his body. "A surprise attack? Please, how dull and predictable." Kefka blasted Taren with a magic enhanced kick, sending him tumbling to the wall for Kefka to make his strike. "Poison Edge!" Making a strike with his swinging scythe for the attack, only to his surprise that the blade went through the startled boy but no sign of blood or anything, only to go through the steel wall instead. "Huh?" The confused Kefka realised too late to see a glowing orb by his foot, glowing and beginning to charge. Knowing what it was and groaned. "Crud." The magic used for a Mine exploded, strong enough to send Kefka flying over the ship.
Ben saw what happened and turned to Mal who casted the spell and find Mirta who nodded and grinned. Taren was beside Mirta after making his recovery, and then turned to gasp when he saw something behind Mal. "Watch out!"
Mal threw her keyblade above and blocked a scythe that belonged to Cronus. "Clever trick, my dear, but that won't work on me."
"That will be a challenge." She smirked and brought her foot to kick him in the gut, but he caught it and flipped her in the air to gain some distance, brought his scytch to attack her while his followers deal with the heroes. He had to admit for a young keyblader and possibly an apprentice level, she was indeed a skilled fighter as well as magic. Yet something from her aura seemed… familiar to him
Tendrils made out of vines sprouted out and wrapped themselves around Mal's waist, they yanked her out of Cronus' grasp but not before she created a cloud of smoke to distract him. Mal was able to land on the crate above and stood beside Palmon who came out of her hiding spot.
Mal appreciated the help from her partner. "Thanks." She had to admit he was stronger than she thought and they may have underestimated him.
Ben was able to help Herry beat down the giants when he saw Mal out of danger, however things were turning against their favour and called out to Taren and Mirta to help their friends. "We gotta help the others." Pulls his digivice out and summoned Gabumon.
"Right." Taren did the same and to bring out Agumon. "Ready?"
Agumon nodded. "Right."
"Not so fast!" Passing through the crates was none other than Kefka, surprisingly untouched, nor burned from that attack. Brushing off any dust that was on him and feeling mad. "That was a cheap trick, and I know a thing or two to make things go kaboom!"
Mirta could only groan by the corny lines he made. "And I thought the Trix were annoying."
Taren nodded and agreed with her, but knowing how strong this guy was and needed to be at full strength. He saw one of their friends, Artemis who was held up on a crate "Agumon."
Agumon took a jump from the edge and began to digivolve to Greymon. "Agumon, digivolve to… Greymon!"
Landed on the ground with the ground shook, now ready for a fight. Atlanta and Mirta who witnessed the moment were awed by how the small dino digimon grew. She noticed the giant that was now chasing her started to swat his hands about and saw a swarm of bugs but somewhat blurry.
"Come on!" Mirta appeared and came to offer her hand to help.
Atlanta was relieved for some help and grabbed Mirta's hand. "Thanks."
Jay was thankful for Mirta helping Artemis and now they needed to deal with the others, he saw whatever was in that hatch had to be something important. "Herry, the lock! Open up the hatch, let that thing out of there!"
IT would be easier said than done when they had two of the giants in the way. "You think they'll get out of the way if I ask them nicely?" Herry could see the looks on their faces that it was a big 'no', but decided to use the chains beside him to wrap the two together like a lasso. With no sign of breaking the chains, he used his strength toss them overboard.
Kefka gave a coy grin and hardly fazed by Greymon's appearance. "My, my, I thought the dinos were suppose to be extinct."
Greymon ignored the villain and proceeded to attack him. "Nova Blast!"
"Fission Firaga!" Taren released a barrage of Fireblast longside Greymon's attack towards Kefka on the spot.
Kefka brought his hands together towards the flames. "Blizzara!" Out of thin air a large chunk of ice formed and dispersed the fire, catching both the keybearer and digimon by surprise.
"Greymon, look out!" Luckily his digimon partner managed to take the beaten with his hard head, Taren was relieved he wasn't hurt.
"Here's a little question, what killed the dinosaurs?" The two look up to find Kefka floating in the air and raised his hand. "No answer? Too bad, the answer is… Meteor!"
A ball of rock plummets straight towards Taren and Greymon, it was too fast to dodge and could cause a lot of damage. The impact struck witin range, throwing the two off their feet and shook the freight a little.
Kefka let out a laugh and clutches his waist. "Hahahaha! Get it! A meteor that struck out the dinosaurs! Oh, I love a good joke for some anarchy!"
Cronus felt the tremor and saw the attack performed by Kefka. "That fool, least he can do is try to control his excitement."
Taren groaned in pain and turned to Greymon, slowly getting to his feet but barely after the impact that threw them off guard.
Ben and Gabumon rushed over to help them when one of the remaining giants jumped out of his hiding spot and stood in his way. Ben brought his keyblade out with Gabumon ready. "Stopra!"
The Red giant froze in his place when hit by Ben's magic command. "Gabumon!"
"Blue Cyclone!"
Using a strong blast of his technique to knock the giant out, now they were all taken cared off, only leaves Cronus and Kefka. Speaking of the latter, Kefka suddenly appeared before them.
"And you must be the prince, and his little pet mutt a Digimon, correct?" Kefka taunted him with a smile. "Much as I love to enjoy some fun, but you already lost."
"Yeah? How?" Ben asked, but something told him that he just answered his own question.
Kefka let out a chuckle. "Oh, believe me, you'll know. Ice!" He turned the floor into ice, causing the two partners to loose control of their footing and fall to the ground. This made Kefka to let out a laugh of the stunt he pulled. "Stick around and enjoy the show!" Twirls his scythe and flew to the top crate and watch what was happening.
Mal and Palmon rushed over to them and found the two on the floor by the ice. "You alright?" She knelt down to help him on his feet as she could.
"Yeah, thanks." He just hoped they're not too late.
Cronus was annoyed how the children were gaining the advantage, but he was not concerned about it as Kefka was dealing with the others. "What, you look scared, Jay. You're gonna run away again?" Taunting his foe while Herry goes for the locks.
"I'm not scared of you, Cronus." Jay strongly stated and now feeling the sense of duty to stop them from taking over the world and protect his friends and family, just like how the keybladers had to do when they embraced their roles as heroes. "But I think you're afraid of the Oracle's prophecy."
Cronus ignored the remark and laughed. "Fools believe in destiny, Jay. I was destined to spend an eternity in prison and here I am."
With the locks now loose, the hatch burst, dented and broken by something bigger, and meaner.
Taren and Greymon, who recovered looked to the source of the sound, a large red-skinned humanoid beast, large flapping wings, and orange mane, what caught their surprise was its legs were but two snake-like monsters.
Mal, having to realise the true appearance of Typheous swallowed nervously with Atlanta and Mirta came to see it free. "Uh, that looks a little… bigger than I thought."
Typhoeus released a monstrous stream of fire towards Jay, forcing him to run for distance and avoid getting burned.
Cronus decided to use this moment to make his leave, Kefka would do the same but not before he helped the monster create more destruction for his amusement.
Herry, Atlanta and Ben realised what that thing was and were at a disadvantage. "Fire-breathing is one thing, snakes for legs? What's that about?"
"Guys, we gotta go!" Mal yelled and grabbed Palmon to make their leave.
"Where's Jay!" Ben called out to find Jay by one of the snake monsters, only to be saved by Greymon's Nova Blast, they hardly seem to be much affective, but enough to cause a distraction for them to escape.
"That thing is way too hot for us to handle." Atlanta pointed out.
"And is helped by Kefka to stir up more destruction, we gotta go!" Ben stated to make a retreat.
Jay had to agree with him. "No arguments here. Come on!"
While the three heroes take a dive in the lake, Mal grabs Palmon to swing them over. Ben and Mirta came to the side to find Greymon below with Taren on his head.
"Come on, I'll catch you!" Taren called out to them with his hands held high.
Mirta saw him and nodded to trust him. "Okay." She took a deep breath and trusts him before she made a jump. For her luck, he caught her in his arms and then Ben with Gabumon on his back to take his turn.
"The others are in the lake, I think I saw Mal swung over." Ben told him. With no choice but to make a retreat and meet up with the others.
Meanwhile, Cronus emerged through the flames, untouched by them at all with the damage caused by the beast. "Remember the price of your freedom. We still have work to do."
With enough distance to be safe, Jay, Herry, and Atlanta made it through the shores and reunite with the keybladers, Greymon reverted back to Agumon and used up his energy, recovering from the battle with Kefka. Offering a helping hand to get them out of the water and saw from the distance of the monster unleashing its wrath. Even with all of them together, they couldn't stop it and knew only one thing.
They need to gather the seven heroes that were prophecised to stop Cronus, or it be the end of the world.
I hope you all enjoyed it, there was some I had to redo and work on the battles and decided to have Mirta tag along, the others will show up and have Taren give some bit of advice to Jay from his experience when he was forced to take the mantle of being a hero as well. Some fights at the docks were a little different and added a bit with Cronus instead of letting him stand about watching and picked Mal. As we know of her father, she may find it a surprise to know about her heritage. And also to show how powerful Kefka is compared to the trio when they realised he can easily take on a Champion-Level Digimon, but they always learn from their previous mistakes.
Also i fixed the problem that I somehow got atlanta's name mixed up with Artemis which wqs embarrassing but was luckily pointed out which was helpful. sometimes its difficult to do a story on your own and tend to get some mistakes, and also hard to get a beta reader that is available to help out.
