Human AU


Tamora jolted forwards in her seat, confused by the blurred streaks of light surrounding her.

"Tammy," Felix's hand brushed against her forearm as he reached across the center console. "You fell asleep. You're safe."

The sergeant sighed, intertwining his fingers with hers, her nighttime surroundings starting to make sense. She turned just as a passing street light illuminated her husband in the driver's seat, and he glanced back at her with a calm smile.

"Sorry," she said, giving his hand a squeeze before letting go. "God, it's 3am. I don't know how you do it, babe."

"I'm used to it," the handyman chuckled softly, his right hand returning to the wheel. "Dad and I did long drives together all the time. We don't have too much farther to go."

"I'll try and stay up then," Tamora yawned.

Felix peered at the rear view mirror and smiled.

"Look at them back there," he whispered. The blonde twisted around.

In the back seat Ralph's mouth hung open as he leaned uncomfortably against the interior frame of the car. Vanellope laid slumped, stretching her seatbelt, head hovering just above her guardian's leg.

Tamora stifled a laugh, grabbing her phone from the cupholder to take a picture. This would make for some great blackmail.

Tapping the screen, her phone's flash lit up the car, and the sleeping pair groaned in unison.

"What the hell?" Ralph groaned, wiping his eyes.

"Sorry!" Tamora covered her mouth, having completely forgotten to turn off that feature.

Looking at her phone, the sergeant cackled, holding it outwards for Felix to take a peek. Together they laughed as their companions stewed in the back seat.

"Sadists," Ralph grumbled. "The both of you…"
