"Great job today, Ralph!" The wrecker heard a small voice from behind him as he brushed the mud off his overalls.
"Thanks, Mary," he turned around with a warm smile. "You too."
"Say Ralph, could you help me carry something real quick," she waved the wrecker over to the front door of the apartment building. "It's just inside here."
"Uh… sure!" He wasn't quite used to being asked for help. Ralph glanced around for Felix; what would he do in this situation? "Oh! Here, let me get the door for ya–"
"SURPRISE!" Everyone burst through the door as the wrecker approached, the Nicelanders practically spilling down the stairs to surround him with their enthusiastic cheers. Felix stood in the doorway with a grin, and handed Mary the cake she had specially made and addressed to their favorite bad guy.
Ralph looked down in wonderment as she presented it to him. A tiny cake apartment building with him on top, surrounded by the Nicelanders and wearing a medal.
"Here, Ralph," she said as he took the dessert plate gingerly in his fingers. "On behalf of all of us!"
"You–you made this…for me?"
"Well of course!" she giggled. "It was Felix's idea, but we all agreed! You deserve it!"
"Wow, that's – Thanks, guys…I don't really know what to say."
"Oh there's no need for words, just enjoy!"
"Well…" Ralph pondered for a moment. "What's a good cake if it isn't shared?"
After grabbing some impromptu plates and forks, the Nicelanders gathered on the back patio where Ralph gingerly cut his cake into slices, and Felix served them on plates.
Everyone thanked the wrecker for his generosity, and enjoyed some pleasant conversation as they indulged.
"Here you are, brother," Felix slid Ralph a more generous portion of cake he'd saved for after everyone else was served.
"Thanks, Felix," the wrecker smiled, returning the favor with the very last slice. "Don't leave yourself out."
The two of them sat together at one of the last few open tables on the patio, where Ralph excitedly dove into his slice, skipping using a fork entirely.
"Mmmm," Ralph savored it, leaning back in his chair to chew.
"Living up to expectations?" Felix chuckled, now knowing this was Ralph's first time trying the dessert.
"Mhm," Ralph nodded, then swallowed. "No wonder you guys never tossed this stuff out."
