I don't own Disney's The Owl House. I do, however own the Main OC. Hope you all enjoy my story on this lovely show.

Chapter Thirteen

It was another market day in Bonesborough. And it was slower than usual. Not even any of Danielle's suggestions were working today.

"Partake of my free snack samples! Take them; I demand it as your ruler, the King of Demons!" said King, holding up a sample platter before tossing it to the ground. "Nyeh! Why isn't anyone paying attention to me? I'm their rightful overlord. Intellectually and such."

"Yeah... hey!" said Eda, grabbing a passerby and sniffing them. "It reeks more of nerd than money today."

"Eda, King. I found out why there isn't much going on around us," said Danielle, walking over. "A book fair is going on."

"A fair without rides?" said King, staring at Danielle.

"Who needs rides when this," said a Young Boy, shoving a book in King's face. "Can take you anywhere?"

"Nyeh," said King, tossing a piece of bacon on the Young Boy before a passing winged demon picks him up.

"A, ew," said Eda, grabbing a book then dropping it. "B, I'm bored. C, I feel like pickpocketing some dork while they browse."

"But… want to check it out King?" asked Danielle, watching Eda walk off before looking at King. "You can ride in my hood if ya want."

"Ooohoohoohoo!" said King, slowly climbing Danielle before settling in her hood as she walks.

"So many books, I'd love to write a book one of these days," said Danielle, before noticing a specific booth. "Oh, there's a writing competition going on."

"Ugh! What are these basement dwellers doing out in natural sunlight?" asked King, seeing a screaming witch run pass them.

"Um! We're in line for Jon De Plume, most famous writer on the Boiling Isles, famed author of the Realm Warriors series! I'm gonna have him read my story..." said the Small Inmate, before whispering to themself. "And marry me."

"Such power. Such command he holds over his minions. I must have the same!" said King, watching Jon De Plume before looking at Danielle. "I shall enter this competition."

"Want to do it together then?" asked Danielle, looking at King.

"Team! Yes!" said King, excited. "My name goes first on the cover."

"Let's write the story first," said Danielle, scratching King's cheek.

Heading back to the Owl House, Danielle sets up a large corkboard in her room. Grabbing some sticky notes and a pen, Danielle sits on the floor before patting it signaling King to sit next to her.

"Okay, right now we come up with ideas for the story," said Danielle, giving some sticky notes and a pen to King. "From there we can come up with a plot."

"I can write anything?" asked King, wagging his tail.

"We're brainstorming right now," said Danielle, looking at King. "From there, we can figure out which ideas will work together and nix the ones that won't work."

"Mhm! Done!" said King, writing down his first idea and showing Danielle.

"Violence, eh," said Danielle, looking at the sticky note. "That could work closer to the ending. Anything else?"

"Hmm," said King, writing down another idea and showing Danielle.

"Blood, okay, it could work somewhere from middle to end," said Danielle, looking at the sticky note. "Now King, what do you think makes a good story?"

"Um…" said King, thinking before looking at Danielle. "Don't know."

"Every good story ever told can be broken down into three distinct parts," said Danielle, holding up her fingers. "The beginning, the middle… and the twist."

"Ooooh," said King, wagging his tail in excitement.

"Let's start jotting down more ideas," said Danielle, wiggling her pen about.

"Oh, I got another one," said King, writing down another idea. "And my main character is the King... err... the Ruler of Demons!"

From there, a bunch of sticky notes were plastered to the large corkboard. Various ideas were thought up. After a while, both Danielle and King took some ideas down seeing that those ideas weren't going to work. Looking at the ones taken down, Danielle puts them away, thinking they could be used for another time. Narrowing the ideas down to a select few, Danielle grabs a typewriter from down the hall and places it in her room.

"Ehhh," said King, reading one of the pages to the story. "I don't know about this, it seems…"

"A little slow at the beginning, I know. But it will pick up," said Danielle, typing away. "Though, it seems like Ruler just wants to destroy everything. Maybe more could be added to his character as we go on."

"That sounds good," said King, jumping onto Danielle's lap.

"Apprentice! Living room!" shouted Eda, from the living room.

"I'll be back," said Danielle, getting up and placing King in the chair.

"My turn to write!" said King, watching Danielle leave the room before looking at the typewriter.

"Hey Eda," said Danielle, walking into the living room. "Everything okay?"

"Yes, everything's okay," replied Eda, looking at Danielle. "I am popping out for a few days to an undisclosed place to do undisclosed things. You're in charge."

"Oh… okay," said Danielle, a little nervous.

"No questions!" said Eda, pointing at Danielle as she walks away.

"I wasn't even asking any," said Danielle, watching Eda pull up the hood of her cloak and leaving before heading back up to her room. "Okay, King, looks like it's just you and me for a few days. Uh… what happened?"

"Hey hey Danielle, great news!" said King, typing before looking at Danielle. "I just made a few tiny edits and this baby is humming!"

"Ruler's Reach, huh?" said Danielle, looking at the banner. "Sounds more like a title for closer to the end of the series. Let me see what you got."

"Here," said King, passing the manuscript to Danielle.

"Okay," said Danielle, reading through the manuscript. "Kross dies?"

"I know, right!" said King, looking at Danielle. "What a twist!"

"I think that's crossing the line too early in the story King," said Danielle, bending down to face King. "He's just as main of a character as Ruler."

"Don't you want us to win?" asked King, looking at Danielle with puppy eyes.

"Yes, I would love to win," said Danielle, looking at King. "But… I don't know. This is my first time writing an original piece instead of doing fanfics for the animes I watch. So, I guess I'm a little nervous how the story will play out and such and if it will be even liked by the people here."

"Oh," said King, holding the manuscript.

"Let's keep Kross alive," said Danielle, looking at King.

"But that was the best part," said King, looking at Danielle. "I want to keep that part."

"King, writing death scenes at the beginning is not doable in my eyes… and all those cuss words… that's a no," said Danielle, standing up. "If you want to keep that then… maybe you should submit it as your own. All I ask is you replace Kross with a different character as he is my character."

"What?" said King, seeing Danielle leave the room. "Bah! What does she know?"

"What the heck, man?" said the Typewriter, staring at King. "Learn to collaborate."

"Hush, you!" said King, pointing at the typewriter. "I'll prove to both of you my story is superior."

It has been a few days since the book fair. King had left and actually got a publisher by the name of Piniet to read and publish his book. The books were flying off the shelves and King had even had a few autograph bookings to his fans. Meanwhile, Danielle was not only taking care of the house but was drawing. Thoughts of King invaded her mind as she drew up various illustrations of the book she wanted to write with King. And it wasn't just those drawings but regular drawings of the things she saw since she got here, like Eda and King.

"Hey, Danielle! Guess who won the writing competition and became a blockbuster writer superstar?" said King, walking into Danielle's room. "You're right, it's me! Me! Do you wanna touch my scarf? A fan crocheted it out of their own hair! It smells so bad!"

"Oh, my lanta," said Danielle, scooting away slightly as the smell hits her.

"My publisher is throwing a huge party for my book, Ruler's Reach," said King, pulling out a red envelope and placing it on Danielle's lap. "And I, uh, I'd like for you to be there."

"I'll… I'll think about it," said Danielle, picking up the red envelope and looking at it.

"Ehehehe," said King, giggling as he runs out the bedroom door.

"Girl, you don't need him," said the Typewriter, looking at Danielle.

"But I don't want to be mad at him either," said Danielle, sighing as she leans up against the wall.

As day turns to night, King had already left after eating dinner. Danielle left not long later towards the Bonesborough Library where the event was taking place. Wandering about, Danielle spots King running her way.

"Hey King," said Danielle, bending down. "How's everything going?"

"Great! Danielle, buddy!" said King, staring at Danielle. "I'm so glad you could make it!"

"I'm glad to hear that," said Danielle, stroking King's cheek. "I shouldn't be angry about your success. You've become like a little brother to me. So, congratulations!"

"Little brother?" said King, staring at Danielle.

"Yeah, my parents tried three times to have another kid but each ended up as miscarriages," said Danielle, still stroking King's cheek. "But now even though we're not blood related, I'm glad I found a little brother in you. Thanks King."

"Oh… um, great. I… uh… I got to go," said King, running and hiding behind a shelf. "She called me her little brother… her little brother. But I can't write without her. What am I gonna do?"

"Hmm..." said Piniet, spying on King from behind the bookshelf before walking over to Danielle. "Young lady, I'm Piniet of Piniet Publishing House. I'd like to have a word with you."

"'Kay," said Danielle, suspicious of Piniet.

"Follow me," said Piniet, gesturing Danielle to follow him to a room in the back of the building. "I heard you're an aspiring writer."

"Yeah and…" said Danielle, readying a light glyph behind her back before a purple barrier was placed around her. "What the… Hey!"

"Good. I'll be back soon enough," said Piniet, closing the door as he leaves the room.

"Crap, I should have acted faster. Oh my, it shrinks," said Danielle, falling to the floor before pulling her legs in then hearing a voice not long later. "Huh…"

"Danielle!" shouted King, running into the room after seeing Danielle in the barrier.

"King!" said Danielle, putting her hands up against the barrier. "Are you okay?"

"What are you doing with her?" asked King, staring angrily at Piniet. "Let her go!"

"You wrote Ruler's Reach together. So if you don't want her crushed, you'll write together again," said Piniet, seeing King give him a hurt look while Danielle angrily stares at him. "Oh, don't give me that look. Some of the best books were written in literal crunch time."

"That's a toxic mentality that contributes to burnout and unrealistic expectations!" said Danielle, her eyes glowing a light purplish pink.

"Set her free, now!" said King, growling at Piniet.

"Not until I get my best-seller," said Piniet, taking out a contract. "You'll recall you are under contract."

"Ah! Nyeh!" said King, being magically tossed into the barrier and into Danielle. "Oof!"

"Got'cha," said Danielle, holding King.

"Make your deadline, or you'll never be able to hold a pen again. Just like..." said Piniet, holding up Jon de Plume who was shrunk down to a cube.

"Help me!" screamed Jon de Plume, flailing his arms about.

"Nooo!" shouted King, scared.

"Don't worry," said Danielle, hugging King. "I won't let him."

"I'll leave you to it," said Piniet, closing the door as he leaves. "Looking forward to your next volume!"

"We're not getting out of here until we write a book, and that'll take forever! We're cube meat!" said King, tossing the manuscript to the second volume in the air. "I'm sorry Danielle."

"For what?" asked Danielle, staring at King.

"The moment I saw you, I was going to ask you to write the second volume before I wrote over it," said King, staring at Danielle.

"What?" said Danielle, staring at King, disappointed.

"But then you called me your little brother and I…" said King, staring at the ground. "I couldn't do it."

"King," said Danielle, her eyes going from disappointed to concerned.

"The typewriter was right," said King, wiping away a tear from his eye. "I should have collaborated with you."

"Well, let's finish the story," said Danielle, looking at King.

"But how?" asked King.

"Remember what I told you what is needed for a good story," said Danielle, taking a plant glyph out from King's collar.

"Hehehe," said King, seeing what Danielle was cooking up.

Looking at the floor boards, Danielle was able to use a light glyph to separate the barrier at the bottom somewhat before setting off a plant glyph. A large purple flower hung from the floor boards as Danielle activated another light glyph to spread a bigger hole as she and King jumped into the flower. The floor boards were pushed back into place as the barrier sealed back up. Grabbing the illusion glyph, Danielle was able to place it up against the ceiling activating it, leaving an illusionary version of herself and King in their place. Taking a plant glyph from his collar, King waits for the right moment as the illusion versions of themselves start speaking.

"Hey Piniet! We're done!" said Illusion King, getting Piniet's attention.

"Faster than I expected!" said Piniet, entering the room.

"That's the miracle of teamwork!" said Illusion King, holding up the manuscript.

"This is much more gushy than your last book," said Piniet, grabbing the manuscript and reading it.

"Now," said Danielle, whispering in King's ear.

"Okay," said King, activating the plant glyph and it trailing up the floor boards before grabbing the contract quietly as the rst of the vine spread towars the guard knocking them out with slep inducing pollen. "Got it."

"Shred that bad boy," said Danielle, watching King shred it as it was pulled through the floorboards.

"What in the name of the Titan?" said Piniet, seeing the illusion drop before the flower burst through the floorboards with Danielle and King standing on top. "I made you a star, and this is how you repay me?"

"No, this is," said King, activating a plant glyph that wrapped Piniet up in electrifying vines.

"Grab his pen before he changes it into a battle axe!"

"Yeah, I don't think so," said Danielle, jumping off the flower and grabbing the pen in Piniet's hand.

"Where are my guards?" said Piniet, looking towards the doors.

"A little sleep-inducing pollen, courtesy of yours truly," said King, glaring at Piniet before the doors were slammed open by the Small Inmate. "Weh?"

"King! I am your biggest fan!" said Small Inmate, running over to King. "And I fought my way back here for you... to read my story?"

"Then you're also Danielle's biggest fan," said King, confusing Small Inmate. "It was also written by her as well."

"King," said Danielle, bending down and hugging King.

"My story?" said Small Inmate, holding up her story.

"Ugh! If I read this, will you go? So I can annihilate them in peace?" said Piniet, grabbing Small Inmate's story from his binds.

"Of course!" said Small Inmate, smiling.

"Oh, it's beautiful!" said Piniet, reading the story before looking at Small Inmate. "You… You must let me publish this! I can make you a star!"

"Really?" said Small Inmate, staring at Piniet.

"I'd rethink that if I was you," said Danielle, looking at Small Inmate. "If you don't make the deadline, you'll end up like the ones around your feet."

"What… Aah!" screamed Small Inmate, seeing the cubed authors before grabbing her story and running out of the room. "Never mind."

"That's our cue to skedaddle as well," said Danielle, grabbing King and running out of the room.

Leaving the Bonesborough library, Danielle and King head back to the Owl House. Though there was one pit stop at an ice cream parlor to get an ice cream cone for King. Seeing the Owl House before them, Danielle and King slump on the couch the moment they enter. About an hour or so later, Eda returns.

"Hey, kids. Woof," said Eda, dropping her staff before cracking her back. "That was a rough couple days."

"I'd say," said Danielle, yawning before stretching.

"Ah. Well, nothing a bit of apple blood and a good book can't mend," said Eda, sitting on the couch.

"I'd sooner watch videos on my cellphone right now," said Danielle, sitting up.

"Nope, I don't know nothing about that," said King, running out of the living room. "What's a book? Good night!"

"Huh? What the…" said Eda, picking up the Ruler's Reach book of the coffee table.

"Can I explain tomorrow?" asked Danielle, looking at Eda.

Note: The drawing style that Danielle is seen drawing is actually Dana's drawing style of the show

Owl Pellet #8

"Hey, Danielle," said King, standing outside Danielle's bedroom door while holding Francois.

"Come on," said Danielle, patting her futon. "There's enough room for the both of us."

"Thanks," said King, snuggling up against Danielle as she covers the both of them up. "Danielle."

"Yeah King," said Danielle, slowly falling asleep.

"Can I call you big sister?" asked King, staring at Danielle.

"Of course, King," said Danielle, smiling gently as she strokes King's cheek. "Of

course."

Owl Pellet #9

"You-you…" said King, staring at the drawings. "You made drawings for the story."

"Yup," said Danielle, watching King look at the drawings.

"These are awesome. Wait…" said King, noticing a specific drawing. "Is this me?"

"And of Eda and Hooty," said Danielle, seeing Eda grab the drawing. "And everyone else I could think of from here."

"These are some amazing drawings," said Eda, before seeing another of her in some other form. "Am I a harpy in this one? Whoa, I look smoky hot!"

"This for some odd reason is my favorite," said Danielle, holding up a drawing of a child in celestial robes. "I just really like this design. He's so cute. I've drawn him plenty of times over the years."

"Question," said Hooty, picking up a certain drawing. "Who's this?"

"I don't really know but I had to draw her like she was part of a story already," replied Danielle, grabbing the drawing. "Her name translates to nutty light but I can't for the life of me figure out her name."
