Sledgehammer, Human AU
Felix loved little moments like these; inconsequential, and yet so wonderful all the same.
His attention had long drifted from the screen in front of him. Instead, he focused on the feeling of Ralph's hand on his leg as they nestled side by side, sunk into the couch cushions. He focused on his partner's breathing, head gently rising and falling as it rested on the larger man's shoulder. He focused on how lucky he was to have this man in his life.
"Babe," Felix lifted his head, opening his eyes. The room was dark, the TV now turned off. He felt fingers gnawing playfully at the top of his head. "You fell asleep."
"Mmh, sorry," the handyman yawned, moving slightly to let Ralph drape his arm around him. "Did it have a happy ending?"
"It's a sappy romance flick, 'course it did." Ralph stretched his back. "Professed their love, smooched a lot, and lived happily ever after; just how you like 'em."
"Good," Felix smiled, leaning up to peck his beau on the cheek. A few more blissful seconds ticked by.
"You're falling asleep again," Ralph murmured. "C'mon, let's go to bed."
"No, no I'm not…" Felix pouted, wanting nothing more than to put a pause on time. "Let's stay here a little longer."
"You're just tired and don't want to get up," Ralph sighed. "Can't believe you're making me do this, again."
A second arm wrapped underneath the handyman's legs and in one swift motion, Ralph scooped his dozing boyfriend up with ease.
Walking to the bedroom, he gently laid Felix on the mattress and wrapped him in the comforter. Looking down with a little smile, he chuckled as the smaller man began to snore.
Ralph loved little moments like these.
