Authoress Note: Welcome to Chapter 8 of The Winter Soldier and the Luna Wolf. I want to thank those who have left reviews for this story. It truly does mean a lot to me that you guys are enjoying this story. I hope that you guys continue to enjoy this story since I have a long way to go with this movie. I hope that I do alright with the next few chapters to come. I always worry when it comes to writing out good chapters when I am sprawling many many chapters over a single movie. Without further ado Chapter 8. ENJOY!

Chapter 8

Violet came into the room from the lab that Howard was in dressed in a brand new uniform that wasn't covered in her blood or Dr. Erskine's blood. She pursed her lips together into a thin line seeing a doctor and nurse drawing blood from Steve's arm. She walked over to where Peggy was standing rather concerned.

"You think you've got enough?" Steve questioned looking over at the vials that were sitting on the table.

"All of Dr. Erskine's research and equipment is gone. Any hope of reproducing the program is locked in your genetic code. But it would take years. At the moment, you're the only super soldier there is." Peggy looked at Steve rather concerned knowing that Steve felt terrible for what had happened.

Steve rolled down his sleeve and looked over sadly at the desk seeing the Doctor's shattered glasses. He swallowed the thick lump that had formed in his throat. "Erskine deserved more than that."

"If it could work only once, he'd be proud it was you," Violet said as she crossed her arms looking at the young man. She went into the other room where Howard was busy working.

Colonel Phillips and Senator Brandt came into the room with his aids hot on his heels.

"Colonel Phillips, my committee is demanding answers." Senator Brandt said, narrowing his eyes.

"Great. Why don't we start with how a German spy got a ride to my secret installation in your car?" Colonel Phillips questioned turning his attention to the Senator.

Brandt frowned at what Colonel Phillips had said.

Colonel Phillips turned to Howard. "What've we got?"

Howard turned, wiping his hands on a rag. "Well, speaking modestly, I'd say I'm the best mechanical engineer in the country…" Howard then opened a hatch showing impressive circuitry inside of it. "And I've got no idea what any of this is or how it works. We're nowhere near capable of this technology."

"Then who is?" The Senator asked, looking at them.

"Hydra." Colonel Phillips said firmly.

Brandt looked at him blankly blinking a few times.

Violet crossed her arms as she looked at the men. It made a lot of sense and if Hydra was able to get so close to the project and try to steal from them then it wouldn't be impossible for other things. She knew that it also wasn't a good sign that someone's technology was so far in advance than what Howard Stark could even make.

"I'm sure you've read our briefings."

"I'm on a number of committees, Colonel."

Violet cleared her throat causing Senator Brandt to look at her. "Sorry to interrupt." She said her lips quirking a bit as she looked at the Senator. "Hydra is the Nazi deep science division. It's led by Dr. Erskine's first test subject, Johann Schmidt."

Colonel Phillips nodded his head. "Hydra's practically a cult. They worship Schmidt, think he's invincible."

"So what are you going to do about it?" The Senator asked, looking at Phillips.

"I spoke to the President this morning. As of today, the SSR's being re-tasked."

Peggy looked at Phillips. "Colonel?"

"We're taking the fight to Hydra. Pack your bags, Agent Carter and Agent Howlett. You, too,

Stark. The three of us fly to London tonight."

Steve came forward, his brows pinching together. "Sir? If you're going after Schmidt, I want in."

"You're an experiment. We're sending you to Alamogordo."

"As what, a lab rat? The serum worked!"

"I asked for an army. All I got is you. And you are not enough."

Violet watched Steve's face fall knowing that was a blow to him and it wasn't a good one. Her brow raised as she watched Brandt wave over his aid.

"With all due respect, Colonel, I think we may be missing the point. You've seen Steve here in action. More importantly, the country's seen it."

Brandt's aid handed over a copy of the newspaper the New York Examiner.

"Enlistment lines have been around the block since this hit the newsstands. You don't take a soldier, a symbol, like this and hide him in a lab."

Violet tried not to scoff at what Brandt was even saying. If it was one thing that she hated was politicians.

"He needs to be out there, showing the world what the American fighting man is made of. Son, do you want to serve your country? On the most important battlefield in this war?"

"It's all I want," Steve admitted softly.

"Then congratulations. You just got promoted."

Violet let out a breath as she followed Colonel Phillips, Howard, and Peggy out of the room. She couldn't help but feel that Steve was not doing the right thing. But she knew that there was no way that he would be able to join in the battle. She took a breath through her nose hoping that her brother was doing well overseas fighting.

This is the end of chapter 8. I hope that you guys enjoyed this chapter. I did try my best to make this chapter a bit longer, but sometimes it doesn't always work out when it comes to writing chapters. Please leave a review and let me know what you think of it. I will try to update next week with a brand new chapter. Until next time.
