We follow Jeanne into the forest, but it isn't long before we are intercepted. Skeletal Lancers and Sabers are running towards us.
"We cannot allow them to follow us to the fort. We must take them out!" Jeanne exclaims.
"Got it. Mashu, with me!" I ordered.
Mashu nods and we both charge at the monsters. She bashes them with her massive shield while my punches break their skulls into pieces.
[Above us]
I look up to the sight of a dragon flying straight for us. Berserker roars and leaps upwards and grabs the wyvern by its neck before promptly descending down with it. The overgrown lizard tries to bite down on the Berserker, but the General of Repetition shoves his halberd down its throat causing the edges to embed themselves in its esophagus. Lu Bu then begins to twist his weapon causing the wyvern's head to twist as well, ripping its fleshy vulnerable insides apart until the head comes off accompanied by a spring of blood.
Ritsuka steps back, "I think I'm gonna be sick." She holds her hands over her mouth before promptly running off and-
*BLLLEEEEERRGH!*
Yes, that.
"Can she be any less noisy? This era is already foul as it is." Semiramis groaned.
"Our Master has never experienced war before so her reaction to this much gore is understandable." EMIYA states. "However, if she cannot stomach even this level of carnage, then she may not be able to withstand what's in store in the future."
[I don't detect any more enemies around our vicinity. Looks like we are safe for now]
I turn to the tired Demi-Servant and smile. "Great job, Mashu. At this rate, you might even give dragons a run for their money."
Mashu blushes at the praise.
"This place will be suitable to spend the night." Jeanne said. "Now, please tell me your names."
"Understood. My name is Mashu Kyrielight." She turns to her downed Master. "This is Ritsuka Fujimaru. My Master."
"My name is Frank. I'm not a Servant but I'm not a Master either." I told her.
"Are you a Magus then?" She asks.
I shake my head. "It is… complicated."
Cú Chulainn hefts his lance on his shoulders. "I am the Servant Lancer; the Hound of Culann, Cú Chulainn." He then points to Lu Bu. "The big guy over here is Berserker. Say hi, buddy."
"▅▅!" Lu Bu growls.
Semiramis greets in curtsy. "The Wise Queen of Assyria, Semiramis. Assassin-class. It is an honor to meet you, Lady Saint."
Jeanne doesn't know why, but her instincts tell her that she SHOULD NOT trust this woman.
"Artoria Pendragon. Saber-class." Artoria states.
Jeanne tilts her head at the name. Pendragon? That is the name of the legendary King of Knights. Is she related to him somehow?
"Archer-class Servant. Call me Archer." EMIYA said.
"I am Rider." Medusa said.
"So many Servants and you are all contracted under one Master? This is quite an odd Holy Grail War." Jeanne remarks.
"Uh, Mademoiselle Jeanne? I'm afraid you're mistaken. This has nothing to do with a Holy Grail War. I'm just a Demi-Servant." Mashu explains.
Jeanne gives Mashu a perplexed look. "Demi-Servant?"
"It means I am not a true Heroic Spirit." Mashu explains.
"I see…" Jeanne takes in her answer. "Well as far as I am aware, I am indeed a Servant, my class is Ruler. I know this much." A confused expression forms on her face. "But oddly, a majority of information about the Holy Grail War that should have been provided is missing. Not only that, but my stats have ranked down as well. I'm also missing my Command Seals and I can't see True Names anymore."
"I see… as expected." I blur out.
Everyone turns to my direction.
"What do you mean?" Mashu asks.
"When we first arrived in this era, I picked up several Saint Graphs that belonged to Servants. However, two of them in particular were completely identical." I stated. "It isn't uncommon to summon more than one of the same Heroic Spirit, but only one can have control of the vessel, i.e. their class. To mitigate this, the Grail will place them in a backup vessel that best aligns with their traits, so long as it is available of course. However, that's not the case here." I look at Jeanne. "Whatever has happened, somehow Jeanne's Saint Graph has been fractured leaving Jeanne here with very little strength and power. It's a miracle she can even properly manifest at all."
"Oh, I see! That makes a lot of sense now!" Romani exclaims.
"She is likely only able to materialize because she was summoned in her homeland, giving her the extra boost needed to keep her from disappearing." Olga Marie adds.
Jeanne frantically looks around for the source of those voices. "I just heard voices! Was that magecraft? What in the world are you all-!"
"Calm down, Jeanne, it's alright. That's just Roman and his assistant." I assured her.
"I am no one's assistant!" Olga Marie screams out.
"You have to admit that you do fit that role, princess." Da Vinci added.
"SHUT UP!"
"Anyways," Roman attempts to get back on topic. "I do various support tasks. The director here leads the missions and da Vinci… is just da Vinci."
"What's that supposed to mean!? I do more around here than you, Roman. If it wasn't for my brilliance, none of this would be possible!" da Vinci pouted.
"Correction. If it wasn't for the previous director, none of this would be possible." Olga Marie corrected. "You, da Vinci, just got caught in the ride."
"Ugh! Your words wound me, princess! And I thought we were friends!"
"We are not friends!"
"You know such interesting people. And you, Roman, you sound like a dreamer!" Jeanne said.
"...why does it feel like I just got stabbed in the chest?" Romani mumbles out loud.
"And you, Ms. Olga, you are an overachiever."
"What did you just say!?" Olga Marie screams out.
"Excuse me, Mademoiselle Jeanne. It's our turn now." Jenna turns her attention to the Demi-Servant. "Our objective is the correction of this twisted history. We belong to an organization by the name of Chaldea."
Mashu then explains what Chaldea is and its mission. Jeanne looks at Mashu analytically as she digests the information.
"... I see, I understand now." Jeanne comprehended the dire situation. "To think that the world itself is being incinerated. My worries were so trivial. But now I-"
"You shouldn't blame yourself for the current dilemma." EMIYA told her.
"But if it has any connection to the Dragon Witch, then it is my responsibility!" Jeanne exclaims. "All of this senseless death and destruction, the dragons… it's all my fault…" She feels someone grabbing her shoulder and sees Ritsuka with a solemn look.
"Please don't blame yourself… it's not your fault." She told her.
"Right. If anything, it's whoever caused this madness that should be to blame." Roman said. "With King Charles VII now dead and Orleans has been occupied, it will bring about the total collapse of the nation of France."
"In history, France was the first nation to declare human rights and equality. Many countries followed suit. Delaying this by a hundred years would stagnate civilization. Without progress, we would have still been stuck in the Middle Ages." Olga Marie states.
[France motivated enlightenment and other controversial thinking that changed the world. Countries like Romania wouldn't exist without the influence of France. They would inspire humanity to become closer to their neighbors and see past some of their differences, though that doesn't mean it wasn't perfect]
"Modern Mages, no matter how powerful, cannot hope to summon dragons let alone control them; even if it's a subspecies like the Wyvern. Even during the 15th century, such a feat was impossible." Semiramis states. "The only thing that possibly bent the rules like this-"
"...It's likely to be a Holy Grail." Ritsuka finished.
I nod. "That would be the most logical assumption. Considering everything that we've just witnessed."
"There are still many unclear points, but I have an idea now." Mashu said. "Mademoiselle Jeanne, what are you going to do from now on?"
Jeanne closes her eyes for a moment. "...the objective is clear." She turns to Mashu. "Head to Orleans, and take back the city. To do that, I must exterminate the Jeanne d'Arc who stands in my way. The Lord may not have shown me the path. But I cannot turn my back on this."
"Even alone, you will fight…" Mashu smiles. "She is just like history says, Master."
"Yeah, she is." Ritsuka nods.
"So, seeing as our objectives are the same, why not work together?" Jeanne said.
Mashu smiles. "That sounds like an excellent idea. It would be an honor to fight alongside a Saint and Savior!"
"Oh… the pleasure is all mine." Jeanne nods. "I cannot possibly thank you enough… Thank you, all of you. I thought I would be in this fight all alone."
*GRR*
"Are you kidding me? Talk about a mood killer." Cú grumbled.
"We must fight here and now." Jeanne declared. "So, Ritsuka, please give us your orders!"
"Got it." Ritsuka nods as a wyvern descends upon them. "Assassin, take it down!"
"Humph." Semiramis steps forward and snaps her fingers. From behind, purple magic circles appear and fire laser beams at the dragon. The wyvern gets hit but manages to dodge most of them.
The Wyverns snarls at her.
"Such a crude beast. I will have to teach you some manners." Magic circles appear on the ground and from them, black chains fly out and encircle the beast. It tries to fly up but the magical constructs prove to be faster and wrap around its body, effectively grounding it. A larger circle then appears and from it, a massive snake-like creature materializes beside her. "Now, drop dead." The snake opens its mouth, regurgitating a green ooze that envelops the wyvern head to toe.
The subspecies cries as its skin melts completely, followed by its bones melting as well.
"Good job, Semi-chan!" Ritsuka cheered.
Semiramis brushes her hair to the side and glares at her Master. "Honestly, do not trouble me with this. Fighting such creatures is beneath me. Also, do not call me such a disrespectful title again."
"R-Right." The rookie Master stutters.
"Now then, since we'll be working together from now on, I suggest you form a contract with Ruler. It will give her the edge she'll need in a fight." I suggested.
"He has a point, Master. If she enters a pact with you, she could be able to regain some of her strength back." Medusa agrees.
Jeanne nods. "I agree with the Magus. Please form a contract with me, Master."
"Okay. Here we go." Ritsuka said. Her Command Seals begin to glow as she begins to concentrate and eventually Jeanne's body begins to glow as well.
"Contract accepted. I am in your care from now on, Master." Jeanne said.
[Normally Ruler-class Servants do not need a Master to supply them with Magical Energy, as the Grail itself summons them to this world. Unfortunately, due to her unique circumstances, being bound to a Master is the best option for her continued existence in this era]
"How are you feeling? Ritsuka asked.
"My parameters are still a rank lower, but I'm feeling stronger than before. Even if I am up against myself, the witch, I have nothing to be afraid of now with you by my side." Jeanne admits.
Ritsuka gives her a look. "Are you all right?"
"I am fine." She answered perfectly. "Needless to say, it saddens me that they'd mistake me for that other Jeanne. In fact, it hasn't been more than a few days since I've been burned at the stake… If a resurrected me caused the massacre in Orleans, then I can't blame them for being scared of me… I was afraid the British might be stirred up, but it would appear things are going smoothly. We should seek out the Jeanne that they call a witch and defeat her."
[This other Jeanne was likely created by the Grail and, whoever made the wish, had a very twisted perspective of her otherwise she wouldn't be attacking the country she wanted to protect]
I hum. "Jeanne, do you detect any Servants other than ourselves?"
Jeanne shakes her head. "I'm sorry, but as I am now, I am incapable of using my ability as a Ruler to detect other Servants." Her face fell. "Like any ordinary Servant, I cannot detect them unless I am within a certain distance."
'So much for that idea. I guess we'll have to do this ourselves.' I thought.
"Wait. If you have the ability to detect Servants, doesn't that mean the other Jeanne has the same ability?" Ritsuka points out.
Silence reigns in the came as they all realize that it's possible.
"...shit." EMIYA grunts.
"I was careless." Jeanne said. "If the other me… No, Witch Jeanne… Urgh, it's so confusing, I will simply refer to her as Dark Jeanne! Anyways, if Dark Jeanne is truly a Servant then her class, like mine, is Ruler. If that's the case, she will immediately be able to detect our location. We must be prepared for battle at all times!"
"In that case, why don't we split up?" Everyone turns to me. "Think about it, if the Dragon Witch can detect Servants, it will prove difficult to conduct an investigation if she continues to throw enemies at us. If we split up, we can have one group investigate the Singularity while the other confronts the Dragon Witch and her forces."
"Hm, that sounds like a viable plan, but…" EMIYA said.
"Absolutely not! Splitting up in a Singularity should be the last thing on your mind! There's no telling what will happen if you go out on your own!" Olga Marie exclaims.
"I have to agree with the director. We should stay together." Mashu adds.
"But-"
"NO BUTS! You are staying with everyone! Is. That. Clear!?"
I stare at the Demi-Servant for a moment before letting out a sigh. "Fine."
"Good. I know you can handle yourself, but there's so much we don't know and the risks are too high. I- WE cannot afford to lose you." Olga Marie said.
EMIYA smirks. "I didn't know you cared so much about him."
"Ooooooh, does our princess have a crush?~" da Vinci teased.
"Why don't you all just shut the f-" Mashu shuts off the communicator. "I think that's enough for now, yes?"
"Yes. That Banshee's screaming was giving me a headache." Semiramis groans as she massages her forehead.
"Well, we should still minimize our activities in any towns or villages. We do not need an army knocking on our doorstep with every step we take." I stand up. "But for now, we need to rest. Gudako is still human and, unlike us, needs her rest. I'll patrol around the forest, you guys stay and protect her."
"I'll do that then." Ritsuka yawns, her eyelids grow heavy as she quickly falls asleep.
Medusa stares as the Magician leaves before she goes into spirit form.
"Those two…" Jeanne began. "Forgive me, but is there some kind of bad history between them? The atmosphere around them tell me that is the case."
"I can't say for sure, but I don't think it's like that at all." Mashu replies. "There's a sense of melancholy whenever those two are together. It's like there is a wall between them that they can't overcome."
"It's the same case with Lancer and I." EMIYA chimes in. "It feels like I am meeting an old friend, yet I know that I have never met this man before in my life."
"He seems like a nice guy and someone I can trust to have my back in battle. I don't know if that means anything, but I know that I can trust him." Cú admits.
"He is a man with a broken heart. His love not only does not remember him, but is a completely different person to the woman he used to know." Semiramis states. "She is a reminder of a life he had, a life that he may never return to."
"He hardens his heart from these lingering feelings, but even a Magician cannot escape such a human flaw." Salter adds.
"Oh my, I cannot even hope to understand what he is going through." Jeanne places her hands together. "I will pray that God helps him find the answer."
I lean against a tree with a series of screens in front of me alongside Lev's profile.
[Lev Lainur, born on 19XX. His family is from a long line of magus that goes back as far as before the Christian era. An only child, Lev was the heir to the Lainur family and studied in the Clock Tower alongside Romani Archaman. In 1990, he joined the Chaldea Security Organization on personal recommendation by Marisburry Animusphere, the director of Chaldea at the time, and was influential in the construction of the Near-Future Observational Lens 'SHEBA' which proved to be instrumental in Chaldea's ability to observe the Common Era; for eras further in the past. But this is where the contradiction begins]
"What do you mean?" The screen retracts and opens a newspaper article featuring Lev in it.
[On late winter 2015, Professor Lev Lainur was found dead in his office in the Clock Tower. Reports state that he was murdered as suicide was ruled out because of the first law of the magi. This law states that magi who have inherited a Magic Crest are forbidden from committing suicide by a severe mental restraint. Because meaningless suicide of a magus who possesses a Magic Crest would most likely mean his bloodline's loss of claim to magecraft itself, the inability to commit suicide has been known to be the paramount responsibility of magi since the inception of modern magecraft. It is why suicide was ruled out during the investigation, which begs the question...]
"If Lev Lainur is already dead... who did we see in Singularity F?" It seems that with more answers come more questions. "What's the name of this law?"
[The law's name... is Grand Order]
At that moment, the form of the female Servant materializes behind me.
"You have been giving me odd looks since we've arrived here. Is there any reason for that?" I asked.
"... who were you talking to?" Medusa asks me.
The odd feeling is coming back. Just what is it? "I do not see the point in answering such a question."
"You will." Medusa plucks a strand of her hair and their turn into her nails. "Or I will kill you."
I tilt my head. "I do not understand. Why would you resort to such an action?"
"You are an anomaly. I can sense overwhelming power inside you. For the sake of my Master, I cannot allow such a dangerous element to exist." She gives me a somber look. "Forgive me."
However, in that microsecond, she is thrown back by a sudden burst of gravity, sending her flying for miles!
"W-Wha-!?" She doesn't finish her query as a hand onto her face and slams her into the earth with so much force that it creates a large crater.
"You are correct in that regard, however, do not assume that I will merely let myself by attacked without any resistance. That sort of mindset will get you killed." I told her in that same robotic tone. "You are not exempt simply because you are Ritsuka Fujimaru's Servants, you are expendable, and you will be disposed of should the need arises. However, I believe that is not something that Gudako desires." I let go of her face and straighten myself before healing her. "I will overlook this for now, but be warned that I will not be merciful next time." I warned as I walked away.
Medusa slowly gets up as she sees Frank's back fading into the shadows. "He... he is much stronger than I thought. He is not a Sorcerer... he is something more terrifying." She goes into her Spirit form and disappears.
The next day, everyone wakes up and walks through the forest to the next town.
Medusa and I haven't so much as glanced at each other for the whole morning. She is likely taking my words last night very seriously.
"First, let's cut through this forest and head to Orleans." Jeanne said. "Of course, it will be difficult to enter directly. But we might be able to get some information from the surrounding towns and forts."
As we continue walking, we eventually get out of the forest and walk towards the town of La Charite.
"We're almost at La Charite." She said as we came over the hill. "If we can't get any information here about Orleans, we'll have to get closer- I'd rather avoid that as much as possible. As long as I am still certain about the forces we have, we cannot engage."
"You're really calm about this." Ritsuka comments.
Jeanne sighs. "...No, to be honest, I am panicking." She admits. "No matter how you look at it, the other 'me' cannot be in her right that monster will do by controlling the people- it's easy to imagine. Overwhelming power and hatred can easily destroy a person, no matter how noble they are."
"Absolute power corrupts absolutely. There is truth to those words, and everything that has happened proves that those words ring true." Semiramis states.
"Many rulers became dictators or tyrants because of the overwhelming power they had which led to some of their downfalls." Salter notes. "My path to kingship was no different. I would kill anyone who got in my way… even my own people."
Suddenly, the communicator rings as Romani's voice comes through with news.
"Hold on." Everyone stops their march. "A Servant was detected just ahead of your current path. Its location is in La Charite, which is your destination."
Jeanne and Mashu were shocked by this as they felt as if Jalter was ahead of them.
"Wait… it's getting further away." He says before the Servant signature is lost. "Oh no, I've lost it! It's too far away!"
"It seems they're finished with that town. That's not a good sign." I feel something moving in my pocket and look at Fou. "What is it?"
Fou barks and climbs to the top of my head to view the town.
"Fou!" He points his paw at the town.
"What is it, Fou?" We all turn to the direction he's pointing and notice the smoke on the horizon. "The town… it's burning?"
"Let's hurry." Jeanne cries as we run to find survivors… but that's not what was found.
What we found was something straight out of a horror movie.
Fire consumed the town, the buildings were destroyed, ashes fall from the sky like snow, and blood was in the streets and air.
"T-This is…!" Ritsuka tries to keep her composure but she is starting to fail.
"Tch." EMIYA clicks his tongue. They weren't fast enough.
'Are there any survivors?' I asked my partner.
[Life signs are negative. They left absolutely no survivors]
"Doctor, life form detection-"
"Don't bother, Mashu. They left no stone unturned." I told her.
"But… they must be somebody-" Ritsuka tried to say.
"Master…" Salter's voice grabs her attention. "We were too late."
"No…" Ritsuka collapses to the ground. The nauseating stench of blood polluted her nostrils but she was too busy mourning to even register the foul stench.
*Shifting stone noises*
"Wait," Jeanne's expression becomes serious as some of the rubble begins to move. "Just now, those stones moved!" She walks towards the moving rubble and reaches out.
"Wait! Don't get any closer!" I yell out.
A hand with bluish skin suddenly bursts out from the rubble and grabs Jeanne with inhuman strength. It pulls itself out, revealing itself to be a human with milky eyes, its skin completely charred and falling off showing the pristine bones underneath.
"Ah!" Jeanne screams as the monster reaches to grab her, only for an arrow to pierce through its head destroying it.
"Get back!" EMIYA yells out as he shoots down the rest of the zombies.
Jeanne proceeds to run back to the rest of the group as more zombies pop out from the rubble.
"Master, your orders!" Mashu cries out.
"I… I…" Ritsuka was hyperventilating.
"Protect Ritsuka! Do not let anyone near her!" I chimed in.
"Roger!" The Servants spread out and each fight an individual group of zombies.
The battle soon becomes one sided as the undead are no match to the power of a Heroic Spirit. Semiramis melts them with her poisons, instantly becoming piles of goo on the ground.
EMIYA slashes them apart with his iconic twin swords.
Salter's stronger swings tear through the horde with ease, leaving broken remains of decaying flesh.
The undead couldn't keep up with Cú Chulainn's inhuman speeds and are easily dispatched by the Hound of Ulster.
Lu Bu grabs a bundle of zombies and lifts them up before crushing them in his hands.
Jeanne, however, manages to defeat another zombie before she leans on her flag pole as exhaustion catches up to her.
Mashu notices this and runs towards her. "Are you alright?"
"Yes, I am fine-" She quickly responds before the last of the undead attacks but she is quicker and deals a finishing blow on the creature.
As they continue fighting, the flapping of wings is heard as wyverns descend upon them.
"Great, these guys again…" Cú grumbles. He was a battle maniac, don't get him wrong, but fighting the same opponents starts to get old fast.
Medusa tilts her head as the wyverns sniff the ground. "What are they doing?" Her query is answered as the wyvern finds a corpse and eats it.
"They're… eating the corpses." Romani was shocked as he couldn't believe his eyes.
"I'm gonna be sick." Olga Marie holds her mouth as she goes to the nearest trash can and throws up.
"This is not beautiful at all." da Vinci said with a more flat tone of voice.
"Stop it!" Jeanne orders as she rushes towards them.
"Wait, stop!" EMIYA cries out.
The wyverns turn to the incoming Servant and attack. Jeanne dodges them and uses the spear part of her flag to pierce one through the chest. The monster roars and smacks Jeanne away, crashing in a ruined building.
"Lady Jeanne!" Mashu cries as she rushes to her side.
The monsters' mouths begin to charge up as they intend to finish her off.
"HEY!"
The wyverns turn to the voice and see me with my eyes closed. A feeling of dread fills the air as everyone notices the single tear of blood falling from my right eye, only to open to reveal a red eye with a pinwheel-like shape instead of the normal round pupil.
"Burn." In an instant, black flames appear out of nowhere and engulf the wyverns. They let out a cry of pain as they attempted to put the fires out but it was no use.
These black flames can never be extinguished. They are cursed. They will remain until the victim is nothing more than ash.
As the wyverns fall, I turn my attention to Jeanne and help her up. "Are you okay?"
"I'll be fine… thank you." Jeanne said. "But what was that fire? It wasn't normal."
"That was amazing…! You didn't even lift a finger…" A awestruck Ritsuka said out loud.
"You would be correct. The flames are capable of reaching temperatures of 27 million degrees Fahrenheit; the same as the Sun." I state. "They are cursed. Once created, the flames will not stop burning until their target is completely incinerated. The flames cannot be extinguished with water, the passage of time or any other normal methods."
"Wow..." Ritsuka has stars in her eyes.
"Your heart rate had accelerated as well as a heavier intake of oxygen. Are you alright?" I asked.
"U-Umu!" The Last Master slowly nods. "It… It was overwhelming, but I think I'll get over it. I have to be strong for the future of humanity."
I smile. "That makes me happy."
Ritsuka blushes. "R-right."
"Jeanne?" Mashu asked as she noticed Ruler being weirdly silent.
"...it was most likely 'me' who was behind this." Jeanne said with a grim expression.
"We can't be sure of that yet-" Mashu said unsure before Jeanne cut her off.
"No, I can tell. I am sure of it." She confirmed. "... there's just one thing I don't understand. How do you have to hate others to wreak such havoc? I don't understand it."
"Sometimes, humans don't need a reason to do what they do. They do what they do because they are capable of doing it." I told her. "That Jeanne is driven by hatred, and hatred can blind the most righteous of people, leading them to a path that they would never dare to walk on."
[?]
I blink as I sense something heading towards us.
[It seems we have been noticed]
Just then, Romani opens up the communication link as he was panicking.
"Hold up! The Servants that just left have reversed course!" He shouts. "This isn't good. They must have realized you're here!"
"How many?" EMIYA asked.
"Hold on…" Roman's eyes widened. "Are you kidding me!? Five! And they're fast… Are those Riders or something?"
"What's their ETA?" Mashu asked.
"... 20 seconds." Roman grimly replies.
"Everyone, you must leave now!" Jeanne said.
"No! We are not going to abandon you, Jeanne!" Ritsuka shoots back. "It's my job as a Master to support you in battle!"
"Master..." Jeanne said in shocked.
"Enough with the chitchat. Our dance partners are here." Cú chimes in grabbing their attention.
From the sky, five dragons fly down and land in front us and their riders promptly get off their creatures.
The first is a man dressed in a royal fashion, appearing as black as a shadow in the night, contrasted with his pale face and long, silk-like white hair. He gives off an aura so oppressive that people would likely shit themselves if he even gives a glance at them.
The second is a beautiful woman with silver hair and wearing a red dress. She wears a black mask over her face that only reveals a pair of yellow eyes in the darkness and holds a staff with a bat motif. The thing that stands out, however, is the human-sized mental coffin with the appearance of a woman praying that she has chained up and carries with her.
The third is another beauty with blue eyes and long purple hair, reaching below her waist, with a white, golden-frilled, short veil around her head. She wears a pair of blue earrings on each ear. A short, blue cloak draped over her shoulders is connected to a red collar. Her main piece of clothing is an unnatural one-piece, white dress with red trimmings, with wide sleeves, revealing its interior gray colors and rose-vine pattern. The dress is low cut, with an exposed trim-like section down the middle all the way down to her navel. In the skirt, it is split apart in two points, exposing her legs. A black belt is tied around her waist, connected to a golden ornament by the right hip, which drapes over the remainder of the belt all the way down to her ankles. She also wears blue stockings , a set of green and golden gauntlets and grieves, and high-heeled sandals. In her right hand she holds a golden pole with pink stripes tied around it and with a silver and purple cross at the very top.
The fourth is the oddest one because you can't tell their gender at all. They're wearing a lime green jacket, a white shirt with a pink frill. They wear white pants with blue kneecaps that split in the middle and brown shoes. They have a blue hat with a large pinkish feather attached. Their sheathed sword is strapped to their hips.
The final Servant is pretty obvious; a darker version of Jeanne d'Arc herself, from her armor to the large flag she carries with her. The main differences, however, are her paler skin, yellow eyes, and dark armor.
"Who the hell are you?" Jeanne Alter demands.
"Hello there." I greeted them with faux cheer. "It's very nice to meet you. Please, feel free to think of us as your enemies."
Adjacent Worlds refer to divergent timelines that advance in adjacence to one another. In Fate/EXTELLA, it is stated that a World qualifies for culling if it entirely lacks the potential to diverge into Adjacent Worlds. Incidentally, Archimedes' capacity to travel between Adjacent Worlds is referred to as Sliding.
"Adjacent Worlds" are terminologically distinct within the canon from Parallel Worlds, which appear to refer to timelines that advance in perfect parallel with no relationship of divergence.
