A few days later, Heath has another plan in mind to get revenge on his brother: Kyle this time.
Heath looks at the time and sees that it's nearly eight o'clock. He knows that Kyle is planning to go to bed at around eight to read his book and decides it is perfect.
He grabs what he needs from his flat and then quietly walks back into the house and heads to the boy's room.
He quickly slips on the zombie mask and then hides under Kyle's bed.
Luckily there is a valance, so he is hidden.
Not too long after, he hears the bedroom door open, and someone walks in. Heath takes a sneak peek and sees that it's Kyle.
After some pacing, Kyle turns off the bedroom light and gets into his bed. He turns on his bedside light and gets in his bed; totally unaware that his older brother is under his bed.
Heath waits another five minutes, and he starts hitting the ground making a thumping noise.
In his bed Kyle stops reading and looks around the room.
He can't see anything and so he goes back to his book.
Heath waits a little longer and then hits the floor again.
On the bed Kyle is now freaking out, he gets out of bed and opens the wardrobe door but there is nothing out of the ordinary.
Kyle goes back to his bed, his heart pounding in his chest, while under his bed Heath is smirking at the fact this was so much fun.
Kyle once again starts to read his book. Heath waits a little longer and then wriggles out from under the bed slightly and grabs Kyle's leg. Kyle looks down in panic and sees a zombie face.
"Arghhh!" the zombie screams, causing Kyle to shriek in fear.
Kyle wriggles away from Heath's fake zombie but falls out of bed.
Heath gets the rest of the way out of the bed and howls with laughter just as Brax and Casey run into the room to see what the commotion is.
Heath removes his mask and throws it at Kyle.
"You make it too easy, Bubs."
"Heath! Come on man, he's only just started sleeping through the whole night again," Brax scowls at his younger brother as his other little brother pulls his knees close to his chest and cries.
"It was just a little fun; relax will ya," Heath chuckles as he ruffles up Kyle's hair.
"I will not relax! Look at him, Heath; he's crying!" Brax scolds his younger brother.
"He always cries! The kid seriously needs to man up; he's sixteen. When's he going to stop being such a wimp?" Heath laughs, causing Brax to whack him around the head.
"Get out! I'll deal with you later!" Brax orders.
Heath rolls his eyes and storms out of the room.
"Hey Trooper; it's okay," Brax comforts, as he grabs hold of Kyle and pulls him to his feet, pulling Kyle in for a hug.
After a while Kyle starts to calm down and Brax can hear that he's no longer crying so he pulls away from him.
"You okay, Ky?" he asks.
"I don't think so," Kyle whispers in reply and shakes his head sadly.
"Aw kiddo," Brax sighs as he ruffles his little brother's hair.
"How about we blow up the air mattress and you can sleep on it in my room?" Brax asks.
When Kyle was younger, he used to sleep with Brax whenever he got scared. He obviously hasn't done it for years, but Brax thought that Kyle might need his company tonight.
Kyle sadly shakes his head.
"No thanks, I'll be fine, besides I'm too old to sleep in my big brother's room," Kyle whispers, trying to remain as tough as he could, but Brax wasn't buying any of it.
Brax reaches over and grabs his chin and lifts his head up.
"I'm going to blow up the air mattress for you, gather up your quilt, your pillow and your monkey and take them to my room. I'm going to keep an eye on you tonight," Brax orders.
Kyle nods his head softly.
"Okay Brax," he whispers as he and Casey gather up all his stuff while Brax blows up the air mattress.
"Heath is a total jerk," Casey huffs as he looks at his older brother who is looking miserable.
"Are you going to be okay?" Casey asks, whispering.
"I hope so. I'll have a good sleep tonight and hopefully I'll feel better in the morning," Kyle replies as he and Casey make their way to Brax's room where the air mattress is set up.
"Here you go, kiddo. Now feel free to continue to read your book. I'll be in, in a moment," Brax says and kisses Kyle's head.
"See you later bro," Casey smiles before returning back to his bedroom.
"You okay Casey?" Brax calls out.
"Yeah, I guess. It won't be the same," he replies, never really liking being by himself in the bedroom.
Brax nods in understanding.
"Kyle and I will be in the next room if you need anything, just try to get to sleep the best you can," Brax reassures with a smile.
"Goodnight, Case," he adds.
"Goodnight," Casey replies.
Meanwhile, Kyle lies down on the mattress in Brax's room and goes back to reading his book.
Out in the living room Brax storms over towards Heath and roughly whacks him over the head.
"Oi!" Heath yells out and frowns.
"What the hell is the matter with you Heath? How could you be such an idiot and do something like that to Kyle? He's traumatised!" Brax yells.
"Relax, it was only a joke and besides he's too much of a little scaredy for his age anyway," Heath tries to defend, resisting the urge to smirk against his big brother's stern gaze.
Brax shakes his head angrily.
"Just get out of here and don't do a thing like that again!"
Heath huffs and storms back over to the flat.
After a while Brax comes back into his bedroom and still sees Kyle reading.
"You okay little man; can't sleep yet?" Brax asks as he crouches down to Kyle's level and ruffles his hair.
"Yeah, I think so and no, I'm a little worried too," Kyle whispers as he holds his monkey to his chest and rests his head on his pillow.
"That's good, and you'll be fine. If you need anything you wake me up okay," Brax says to his brother, smiling at him.
He jumps in his bed but turns on the TV on a low volume and then looks at his brother who is snuggling down on the mattress.
Soon enough Kyle is asleep but does wake up a couple of times in panic, but luckily Brax is right there to help his little brother calm down and go back to sleep.
It's a couple of days later and Kyle wakes up and rubs his eyes, he had once again had an awful sleep, ever since Heath's stupid prank!
Suddenly the door opens revealing Brax.
"Hey kiddo; how are you feeling?" Brax asks, knowing Kyle has struggled the last couple of nights.
"Tired," Kyle says as he rubs his eyes.
He looks up at Brax and frowns.
"I kept waking up still."
Brax rolls his eyes. Heath really pushed it this time. Brax is furious with him and feels sorry for Kyle given the extent of his scare.
"You'll be okay, Trooper. You'll wake up as the day goes by," Brax says hopefully.
"Okay," Kyle sighs and slumps off to the lounge to eat.
Brax then turns to Casey.
"Time to get up, Casey!" Brax says and tickles his brother's foot causing him to groan and pull his foot back in.
"I'm too tired! Kyle had the light on all night. I could barely sleep," Casey whispers.
"Casey, you sleep through our parties, and I've seen you asleep in here during the day with the light steaming in," Brax huffs at Casey's lie.
"Now get up!" Brax orders, causing Casey to groan again.
"Casey, now! Kyle's already in the kitchen eating breakfast," Brax repeats more firmly.
"Fine, I'm going," Casey huffs and he walks out to the lounge to see Kyle eating his cereal slowly at the table.
"Okay you two, here are your lunches. Kyle: you have a chicken and pesto sandwich, granola bar, sour cream and chives Pringles, and fruit. Casey: you have a beef and cheese sandwich, nutbar, barbecue Pringles, and fruit," Brax says as he puts their lunchboxes down on the table.
"Thanks Brax," Casey says and looks at Kyle who is looking sleepily at his cereal.
"Yeah, thanks Brax," Kyle says, yawning.
Brax ruffles up both his brother's hair before walking back to the kitchen to make himself a coffee.
After eating his breakfast Kyle quickly races off to the bathroom to get ready for the day, he brushes his teeth, washes his mouth with mouthwash, sprays and brushes his hair and puts on deodorant and spray and afterwards he goes to his and Casey's room where he quickly gets changed.
After the boys are ready it's time for Brax to drop them off at school.
Casey runs to the front seat so Kyle's stuck in the back as usual, but honestly Kyle doesn't mind most days. It just means that he won't have to answer any questions from Brax.
Once they arrive at school Casey immediately gets out and runs to their friend's but Kyle just stares out the window.
"Can I please stay home today, Brax? I promise you, I have no gym test today. In fact, all we are doing in gym today is bookwork, which I'm all up to date with. I have no tests at all," Kyle pleads.
Brax looks back at his brother and reaches over to ruffle his hair.
"You'll be okay, kiddo. Now have a good day," he simply says.
"Brax please!" Kyle pleads again.
"I said no, Kyle! Now go on, and have a good day," Brax orders harshly causing Kyle to flinch.
He quickly scrambles out before Brax can growl at him anymore.
He walks over to his friends who immediately see the bags under his eyes.
"Dude! You look exhausted!" Romeo says, shocked.
"Yeah, I haven't been sleeping well," Kyle replies while yawning.
"Let's go to class," he says and starts to walk to the gym, just wanting the day to be over so he could relax back at home and sleep.
"Okay see you guys at morning break," Casey says and he and Ryder follow Kyle who is rubbing his eyes as he walks.
"You better wake up soon mate, Mr. Gardiner is going to flip if you fall asleep in class," Ryder says.
"Yeah, don't you remember the time I fell asleep in his class?" Casey says, following it up with a laugh.
"I'll be okay," Kyle says, yawning.
As soon as they reach the classroom Kyle sits in the available seat beside Edith and Ryder, while Casey sits a few rows behind them.
