Wow! It's Friday again! I think this week went by pretty quickly... doesn't matter because a new chapter is here! :D
A new arc and... to be honest, not my favorite (despite how hot intellectual Sebastian looks) therefore the narration will be... a little different, hopefully more interesting to you guys. Anyway, please enjoy and thank you all!
DISCLAIMER: I do not own Kuroshitsuji or its characters. I entirely own only my OCs, arcs and ideas/themes not mentioned in any form of the franchise (manga, anime, games, movies or musicals).
Chapter 7: The Tutor, Going to School
The next few days were quite calm and fun in the Phantomhive manor, with Lizzie's Easter Egg Hunt - Sebastian wearing rabbit ears was Selina's highlight of the day, making her secretly giggle quite often - and then some peace and quiet.
Selina had the chance to meet more wonderful people like the so loud, always cheerful Prince Soma - very persistent on calling himself 'Ciel's brother' ignoring how it annoyed the said boy - and his loyal butler Agni. It was really difficult for Selina to picture that 'kind-hearted giant', as she called him due to his superhuman strength and height, as a rebellious criminal doomed to execution not long ago. Both Agni and Prince Soma welcomed her in the household very kindly and warmly, making her feel once again, a long forgotten feeling of belonging in a family.
As Selina was watching the two teenage boys and the two butlers interact she was certain that both boy and demon valued quite a lot the two humans, even if they pretended to be indifferent or even annoyed. She was just hoping that the seemingly light-minded Indian boy would forever stay by her master's side and the two butlers would become something like friends, as strange as it sounds for a demon. She herself thought that kind of people proved what she had been taught from a young age; humans are worth fighting for and not all are beasts sometimes worse than demons.
She also met Ciel's tailor, Nina Hopkins, and the Queen's two butlers, Charles Phipps and Charles Grey, also known as double Charles; she really did not like these two, Charles Grey especially, as he seemed too sneaky in an unpleasant way.
The tailor, however, was a very strange personality; she was a woman definitely belonging to the future, with very innovative ideas in women's clothing that really excited Selina and made her think Nina could be useful, if her mission proved lethal to the trousers she had brought with her. On the other hand, when she saw her groping poor, terrified Mey-Rin while praising her wonderful bust and then coming and doing the same to her and rambling about the clothes she could make for her, Selina got really annoyed. She could not stand that type of touching, especially without giving permission, from man or woman. In an effort to make Nina stop, Selina informed her that the last woman who did that ended up in a not so healthy state. That did not seem to bother the tailor, she was that excited with the well-built and slim figure of the new tutor that in the end a very irritated Sebastian stepped in and separated them.
"Pff! Mr. Stiff…" Nina said and moved away.
"Thanks, again. She is terrifying. I felt harassed, just like with Druitt's sweet talk." Selina said to Sebastian.
"Pardon me for asking, but you said something that really confused me. You said that the last woman who touched you like that… Have you been touched many times like that… by a woman?" For some reason, the demon seemed really bothered by that prospect.
"Oh, well in my time things are not that strict concerning human's sexuality; so generally speaking it can easily happen but it's not something that bad, if both parties agree, of course. Anyway, the woman I was referring to… I did not quite agree, so she ended up very dead." She said in a very natural way.
Sebastian took notice of that but did not comment. "So, in short, people like Grell Sutcliff are not considered perverts?"
"By some people yes, but not by everyone, thankfully." Watching the butler's eyes open wide she explained further. "Let me clear this up. People sexually desiring others of the same sex in general is not considered perverted, just different, but desiring someone and then wanting to kill that person, like Grell does with you… yes, that is totally perverted, sick."
Sebastian thought some more and then lifted his shoulders and eyebrows disregarding the issue. "Well, that means that some demons will lose their power and influence in the future, if tempting people to indulge in such intercourses is not considered as a sin in humans' weak mind."
Selina chuckled. "I guess that is not an issue for you."
Sebastian looked at her with great pride in his eyes. "I do not lower myself in that kind of methods. I rarely use sexual intercourse to get what I want; humans are quite disgusting when in that state."
Selina looked at him surprised. "Wow. Good to know. I feel much safer now."

During the Easter feast, after the egg hunt, Charles Grey gave Ciel a letter from the Queen, but some days had to pass for Selina to get informed about the content. One evening, while collecting her things after a lesson on Greek philosophy, which seemed to really interest the boy, Sebastian brought tea and quite strangely there were two cups.
"Miss Clark, will you please join me in tea today?" The young Earl asked. "I would like to discuss something with you."
The woman agreed and turned her full attention to him, after receiving her cup of tea from Sebastian, who then stood by his master's side.
"I am sure you are aware of what exactly I do for Her Majesty as the Queen's Watchdog." He did not get into details as the woman nodded and looked at him clearly knowing in depth. "Good. I received a new request from Her Majesty. Students of the prestigious Weston public school have not returned to their families for Easter holidays and pretty much are missing from school entirely, although the principal and staff do not seem really troubled by that. One of them is the Queen's nephew and she is really worried. I have to investigate the matter and therefore I will have to attend the school in order to have better access in everything and everyone in it."
"I understand, my lord. Thank you for notifying me. I will immediately start looking for a new place somewhere else. The only thing I dare ask of you is indeed a letter of recommendation, if you would be so kind, although I did not had the time to proper-" Selina's face was quite pale and her eyes turned to the floor while speaking.
"Miss Clark, what are you talking about?" The boy interrupted her. "Am I that bad a student and master that you want to leave me already?"
Selina looked at him confused. "No, my lord. Of course not. It's just that… since you will go to school… you have no need of a private tutor."
"I said that I will go to school to investigate the matter, not to study there."
"You can do both, my lord. I believe it will be very beneficial for you to study there and socialize with boys of your age."
"I really do not care about that. I do not need it." The boy said crossing his arms with a scowl on his face, obviously losing his patience. "I will attend Weston as a student for as long as I investigate; after that I will come back and have need of you and your lessons. Besides, when I hired you I did not hire just a tutor; actually I could not care less about that. What I hired was a very skilled swords-woman that can protect me and my house quite exceptionally; am I wrong?" Now he was looking at her with a mischievous twinkle in his blue eye and a slight smirk on his lips.
Selina was left speechless. She could not understand how that child had played her so perfectly with his so serious way of speech and look; she really felt like speaking with a grown noble man who would simply order her to leave, disregarding her as useless.
"Y-yes, my lord, you are absolutely right. Of course, all my skills are at your service to use them however you see fit. I will do my best to assist you in your mission."
"There is no need for that, Sebastian will accompany and assist me in anything I need there. What I would like to ask of you is to practically take his place here while we are away. You know how the other three work… I feel quite uneasy to leave them alone for so long. Up to now, every time I was away was for a week at maximum or I could take them with me. This time I do not know how long my mission will take and of course I cannot take them with me."
"Yes, my lord, have no fear. I can handle them."
"Perfect. I will be leaving in a week, Sebastian a little sooner, so I would like you to work closely with him for a couple of days, in order to learn exactly what you need to do."
The woman agreed and the boy dismissed both his servants because he still had some paperwork to do before dinner. As soon as both tutor and butler exited the office, Sebastian laughed lightly and Selina looked at him curiously.
"Honestly, Miss Clark, I thought you had understood our master and the way he works. Did you really think he would hire just a tutor?" He looked really amused.
Selina furrowed her brows. "Well, no. I was hoping that my fighting skills were the ones that brought me here and what our master needs, but I thought he would use me in a more… undercover way or something like that. Plus, he fooled me good. I have received that serious look of his many times in my life… always ending up in me losing my job. Will you please stop?" She finished as Sebastian was still laughing.
"Rest assured, Miss Clark. Our master never keeps useless people close to him, even if they know much about our situation, and for certain he never sends them away that easily." Or alive, was what the demon's eyes said to the woman, even though his lips were still smiling teasingly. "In short, you are forever bound to him now; you are his servant to use however he wants."
"Okay." She said fully understanding the demon's message but still not bothered.
Her answer cut short Sebastian's laughter as he threw a side glance to her. "Are you fine with it? Forever staying by his side?"
"Um, hello? That's exactly what I was sent to do, you know. Being that close to him and yourself makes my work so much easier… and fun I must admit. Besides, I have nothing better to do because… I am in a strange era." It was her turn to look at Sebastian teasingly.
"Fine then. Tomorrow we will start your training, please be studious because I do not really like repeating myself." Sebastian was back in his so professional style that Selina started doubting a moment ago he was laughing so amused at her expense.
"Yes, sir." Selina said saluting him militarily.
"I would advise you to go to bed early tonight, since I will be waiting for you in the kitchen tomorrow at six sharp to begin your training. Understood?" He did not get any answer, just a nod and a smile from the woman that she agreed. He looked at her once more obviously thinking something, sighed and then went away leaving her standing in the hallway.

The next few days Selina had become Sebastian's shadow following him everywhere and practically learning everything concerning the manor. From the shelves where each food should be placed in the pantry, to how often the silverware should be polished, to how exactly she would patrol the estate every night. When Selina felt information overflowing her brain, took out a small notepad and a pen to keep notes.
At some point, a curious Sebastian leaned over her shoulder and looked at her notes. Surprised he saw her small, thin pen leaving a light blue, instantly dry ink on the paper and her letters were quite well shaped and clean although she wrote very fast.
"I believe this pen is something from your future era?"
Selina turned to him and lightly gasped seeing him that close to her. "Er… Yes. It is very convenient; you take it everywhere with you and the ink cannot be spilled that easily. It will be invented in a few decades."
"That era of yours sounds quite impressive I must say."
"It is, but it's not that beautiful… or that ugly. It depends." She shrugged her shoulders and smiled. "How exactly are you going to assist our master while at school, Mr. Michaelis? Surely, you cannot go with him as his butler." She asked him at some other time.
Her question was like the flick of a switch in Sebastian's mind. He was supposed to watch the suspicious woman and keep her away from his master's secrets, but here he was, guiding her through every nook and cranny of the manor. What confused and made him mad was that he was ordered to do so by the same master who wants him to investigate her. Sometimes, the demon wondered what in the world went through that brat's mind... And why he, himself, did not feel as threatened as he should by her question? Despite that, the look in his face and eyes was quite cold when he turned to respond to her.
"I believe it is none of your concern, Miss Clark, and trust me, when the time comes you will find out. Now, you will have the full command and responsibility of this house; I hope you will be fine. I will try to come late at nights, even for a while, to check everything, but I do not think I will be able to do it every night or very often."
"Don't worry, I can handle it." She reassured him with a smile, not noticing or simply ignoring his coldness being more intense than usual.

The day before Sebastian left, Nina Hopkins came to the manor to prepare Ciel's school uniform, since the one given to him by Weston was a little big for him. Lizzie had come too, excited that both her brother and fiancé would be attending the same school, and she wanted to be the first to see Ciel wearing his uniform. She sat in a chair waiting for the fitting to begin.
Soon Selina realized no one was moving. Ciel was standing with a very pale look on his face, Sebastian seemed quite annoyed and Nina bored. She sighed and murmured something like "Not again", but that was enough for Selina to remember another time where the setting was pretty much the same.
"Ah!" She suddenly cried. "Lady Elizabeth, would you please come with me to the garden? I… would like to… make a… farewell basket for young master filled with home-made delicacies, but I… want it to be cute and adorned with flowers. Could you please help choose the perfect flowers for that? You have such excellent taste." She said in bursts as the idea was forming in her mind. She finished with a smile so obviously fake that everyone saw it… everyone except Lizzie, who was already in another "cute" dimension as soon as she heard the key word.
"Of course, my dear Selina! I am so happy you thought something like that and I can help. I wanted to see Ciel's every step of becoming a Weston student, but if it is for making such an adorable gift, I think it is fine not to see."
"Yes, my lady. I believe it will be much more exciting to see him in his full uniform at once, when he will be absolutely perfect."
The girl thought for a while. "You are absolutely right, Selina! I will definitely come and help you. Ciel, you do not mind, right?" She asked him worried.
"N-n-no. Of course I do not mind, go with Miss Clark and have fun; I promise you will be the first one to see me in uniform." Ciel said, trying to smile and waving for Lizzie to go.
"All right then." Lizzie stood up and Selina opened the door allowing her to exit the room and she followed.
Right before the door closed, Sebastian, Ciel and Nina sighed greatly relieved and thanking Selina for her help. If they had to perform the same parody of dancing as they did another time in order to spare Lizzie of the sight of the burned seal in Ciel's back… At that instant Selina's head poked through the door, looking at them desperately.
"Please, I beg you, be as quick as you can because I am not sure how long will I endure so much cuteness and sweetness before I get diabetes!" She said pleadingly and immediately vanished finally closing the door behind her.

When the night came and Lizzie had gone home, Nina had successfully finished the uniform in one fitting and Ciel was sleeping exhausted by Lizzie's enthusiasm and constant chatter on how cute he looked, Sebastian found Selina in the kitchen. Sitting in a chair, her head dropped on her hands on the table, beside her a huge basket adorned with countless colourful flowers; well, actually the basket was somewhere beneath the blanket of flowers. Sebastian approached and examined the basket, the strong fragrance of the flowers bothering his nose even before he approached the kitchen.
"What is this thing?" He asked making Selina's head spring up and look at him with a totally dazed look in her dead-like eyes.
"That's… the basket, the farewell one. The one I made along with Lizzie for the greater part of the day. I can't stand it any more, burn it, please." Her voice flat.
Sebastian smirked and his eyes sparkled mischievously. "Oh, what a pity. Burn such a beautiful artwork, after so much effort you put to make it cute."
Selina threw him a very murderous look. "Say that word again and I'll forget everything about my job here… I will attack you! I mean, seriously. I thought that after the thing with the swords on Campania she would quit that forced, horrendous cuteness, I thought your nightgown and the egg hunt were the last of it, but no. She is absolutely relentless… and frightening. I totally get master, why he always tries to avoid her."
Sebastian chuckled as he was removing the basket by throwing it in the corridor outside the kitchen, he would take care of it later. "It seems my master has found himself a most loyal and understanding ally. I feel so relieved."
Selina looked at him suspiciously. "No, you don't. You would prefer if he had only you to relay on because he would be easier to manipulate, but anyway. I feel really dead right now to argue about that. I'm off to bed." She said as she was dragging herself to stand up and leave the kitchen.
"Miss Clark, you might not believe it... actually, I find it hard to believe myself, but... I really do feel relieved to have you as an ally. Especially, if we come across a situation similar to Campania concerning a certain rebellious reaper. It is good to know that my master has someone to care for his safety if I am hindered somehow… and that someone has my back too. Thank you for that." Sebastian said with what looked like an honest smile.
Selina did not believe her ears and her mind was too tired to help her. She just nodded and started to leave again. "Good luck with the school. Tell me if you need anything." She answered quite automatically and left the room, leaving Sebastian alone in his thoughts.
So... Selina became the head servant, in a way... How do you think that will play out? If you like let me know your thoughts! Thanks again, everyone!
Till next time! :)
