Opening – What Have You Done by Within Temptation Starts to Play

As the music started, the vast endless void of space is shown before a pillar of light shoots past the camera which turns around to show it heading for the planet Earth. There is a flash of light and then the title appears:

GRIMMFALL

(Would you mind if I hurt you?)

Deep within the depths of the Darklands, a single man sits alone in a shack.

(Understand that I need to)

His eyes flash open and eleven lights surround him.

(Wish that I had other choices)

He vanished into a portal of light and reappears in front of a dark forest.

(Than to harm the one I love)

Standing before him is none other than Sammael, whose own eyes glow bright red.

(What have you done now?)

Legions of Grimm charged forward, led by General Skarr who stands on the back of Terrordactyl, pointing his sword.

(I know I'd better stop trying)

Deep in the woods, Moloch faces down Major Glory who shoots forward and aims a punch directly at the Fallen's face.

(You know that there's no denying)

Monty Uno and Omnimon are chased through the woods but stop as they are surrounded by Grimm and Team KLAW along with Boris and Gentle-Jim.

(I won't show mercy on you now)

Monkey Fist is then shown, grinning as he faces down Lowemon and Kazemon and from the trees come winged ape and monkey Grimm.

(I know I should stop believing)

Cree is shown rushing through the forest, stopping near a cave and greets Hatchet and Team DWMM.

(I know that there's no retrieving)

The scene then shifts over to DexLabs as Dee-Dee puts the Master Computer game into the main computer.

(It's over now)

Then the scene shifts over to Gravity Falls, showing young Sky Entrapta Gilligan opening her eyes.

(What have you done?)

Before young Sky stands Betty Gilligan as a flash of light blasts behind her.

(What have you done now?)

Eleven lights shoots through the forests of the Darklands.

(I, I've been waiting for someone like you)

Each light finds a target and merges with their chosen ones consisting of: Monty, Ed, Nazz, Eddy, Jonny, Rolf, Nier, Jesse, Wally, Nigel and Abby.

(But now you are slipping away)

Dee-Dee, Steven, Connie, Peridot and the Crystal Gems appear next, wearing strange but sci-fi looking battle armor as they face down a giant red computer with an evil looking face.

(What have you done now?)

The scene then shifts to Berk, showing Team REYN along with Artemis and Connor surrounded by various dark but menacing looking shadows.

(Why, Why does fate make us suffer)

The camera then goes underneath Berk, showing the chamber of the lava giant that was formerly Hiccup rises up, summoning a crystalline sword.

(There's a curse between us)

There is a bolt of lightning as he swings it down.

(Between me and you)

The bolt of lightning envelopes the screen in white before the island of Berk is shown again with the title appearing one more time:

GRIMMFALL

The Point of Creation is believed to be the single point that from it came the creation of known existence. It began long before the creation of Dimension GF-007 when there was only one single world. This world was called Mortis, a single world existing not as a planet but as an obelisk structure that contained an entire world inside. On this world existed only three beings: the Son, who represented the destructive and deadly aspects of the realm; the Daughter, who represented peace and creation on Mortis; and the Father, who maintained the balance of the Force between them.

Time flowed differently on Mortis and thus they could sense and observe history of all life from the very beginning to the end. Though the Son and the Daughter loved each other greatly their conflicting natures drove them to fight against each other while the Father tried to keep the peace between. Eventually the Father realized he was dying and knew that once he did there would be no one left to balance the conflict between his children and sought help from the temporal realm, seeking the aid of one who had been prophesied to bring balance between the light and dark sides in one reality. Despite his efforts the Father watched in horror as his son not only betrayed him but murdered his sister who sacrificed herself to save her father's life.

Realizing the danger his son would bring to the universe the Father killed himself, causing the Son to lose his powers who was then killed by the Chosen One. Without the power of the god like beings keeping it stable Mortis exploded, sending the Chosen One and his companions back to their time while the Monolith vanished.

But that was only the beginning.

What they had not realized was the resulting explosion was known in other universes as the Big Bang. The destruction of the old world paved the way to the creation of new worlds and later new life. The remains of the powers of Mortis spread matter and energy out, creating new form of existence and expanding out. As this happened a new mind appeared, created new beings that came to be as powerful as the Mortis Gods themselves. Some were incarnations of light, good, and order while others were incarnations of evil, darkness and chaos.

However it soon became apparent these beings would battle due to their conflicting natures just as the Son and the Daughter did on Mortis. The remains of the Son's powers formed an entirely new source of darkness known to some as the Pit of Hate and to others as the Prim. This new darkness threatened to spread over the newly formed plain of existence but was stopped as an entity chose to put in place restrictions.

This entity was worshiped by the Kingdom of Gilead who called it Gan.

Manifesting as a dark tower in the point of where creation began Gan created and installed the laws of the multi-verse creating barriers to keep each universe separate from the other. However the multi-verse that Gan protected was only one multi-verse, connecting realities with a similar nature and universal hierarchy that all became connected, a subsection of the larger Omniverse, the collection of all alternate realities. In the dimension known GF-007 Gan along with his wife Bessa and others came to be known to the people of the kingdom of Gilead and perhaps had a hand in influencing the rise of the kingdom for reasons that remain unknown. Many believe it was due to the nature of the destructive force born into this world as the Grimm and that steps were taken to ensure they did not evolve and grow to become a threat so great they would endanger more than one reality.

According to legend each heir of the Eld bloodline is given a choice by Gan to be given a fragment of his power but at the cost of their Semblance. This same offer was made to the knights of Gilead by the animal guardians that guarded and protected the beams of the Dark Tower with the same drawback but they gladly took it in service to their king. However few kings and their descendants made the deal with Gan because to lose their Semblance is like losing a piece of their soul and though they'll still have their Aura they would question if they'd still be the same person.

And today there is only remaining heir to the Eld bloodline: Roland Deschain.

It had been years now.

Years since they had to say goodbye.

As soon as she was gone Nyx had been utterly destroyed. For days she did not move, did not eat and did not speak.

That was all right though.

It wasn't like he was any better.

For days he couldn't think of any new invention, couldn't draw any new ideas he had and he couldn't bring himself to stare at the blue sky…

Sky.

Just the thought of looking reminded him of his precious Sky and the more he was reminded the more it hurt. He simply lied down with Nyx, holding her close for days while she clung to him, terrified that if she let go he would disappear as well. As the years went by the pain seemed to fade or perhaps the two of them simply grew numb to it. Losing their daughter really hit them hard for quite a while.

They did their best to try to live their lives and be happy, since they knew that their daughter wouldn't want them to be miserable because of her. After a while they did try to do their best to make the other happy, despite the hole in their hearts and lives now with their daughter gone, and the shadows of both Klarion and Bill still hanging over them, with the threat of Nyx's fate. They chose to live their following years together as a happy couple, though while also making sure not to have another child because of the pain they went through in losing Entrapta. They faced the day together and did not let the shadows of Bill and Klarion and their threats bring them down, not just for each other's, but their daughter, and all those they care about.

They went through their ups and downs good times and bad as they helped the Pillow People become truly real and build a real thriving community world in Pillow World, before it eventually all comes to an end.

Only Nyx had been planning what would happen at the end for years.

"I'm so sorry for this, Hoagie." An elderly Nyx whispered to her sleeping husband. "But in order to save you, I have to do this."

She had been planning ever she and Hoagie had sent their daughter through the rift. She learned how to create the Pillow people and that was where her plan came in. She had mastered the magic from the book of chaos magic and then she had mastered the powers granted to her by the Blue Fairy. Now she was ready for the next step: creating a body for Hoagie which she would then transfer his soul into just as soon as his present one expired.

Once he died his soul would travel to the new body but that would not be the end of it. Thanks to her Soul Magic she had learned how to separate her own soul from her body, allowing her to travel without boundaries and even through time and space. She used this ability to go back in time to when she still on Earth and then used her power of the Pillownomicon to construct a body for Hoagie's soul. Once she returned to her body in the Pillow World she laid down the final foundation of her plan.

She marked him as he slept which would bind his new soul and body together once he died. Shamefully it would have to happen after they had been brought to the Pillow World otherwise her precious might not be born. So he would be sent back sometime after Sky was so he would find her and be there for her.

Nyx was just glad one of them would be there for their precious Sky.

"It's time." Nyx whispered as she held a hand over the sleeping Hoagie but stopped to take one last look at him.

He hadn't aged as gracefully as she did but that didn't matter. She loved him no matter what state he was in, even more after he became the father of her child.

"Forgive me, Hoagie." Nyx said, using her magic to conjure a sphere of magical flames.

And then like that, Hoagie Gilligan passed on from the Pillow World.

"So, Stanford's project wiped out our little competition."

Pacifica 'Northwest' Cipher was not happy to hear this news. They were supposed to fix the portal before the two heroes from their little justice boy band came back and caused more problems. The Blind Eye Society lost almost all of its members aside from Blind Ivan and Bud Gleeful.

'Don't worry about it, kiddo!'

Pacifica smiled and bowed her head. "Daddy. You seem happy for someone who is having a bit of a problem."

'Oh, don't worry about this. It's just a little snag.' Bill waved off Pacifica's concern. 'Anyways, I got a new job for you.'

"And what would that be?" Pacifica asked.

'Klarion's student is acting out again, doing goodie stuff instead of the chaos he wants her doing. First off, we need to ditch the little genius that was left behind by Sixer's machine. I need you on clean up duty.' Bill instructed.

Pacifica smiled. "I understand. And what about the sock head?"

'Leave him to me.' Bill answered, rubbing his hands. 'I knew Sixer's project would be a pain in my backside but I won't be making things easy for him or Sock-Head for that matter.'

"Do I sense a something big in the works?" Pacifica asked, now feeling eager for what plans her father might have.

'I always aim for something big.' Cipher snickered. 'But let's stay on track here. The point is that we need to work damage control here and I got a few ideas where to start. Deal with the washed out boy genius and his grandpa first and then we run inventory on what we got left.'

"Blind Ivan and Bud Gleeful are all we have left of the Blind Eye. The rest were captured by the Justice couple. We really underestimated them." Pacifica said, frowning at the mention of the Blind Eye's capture.

'Actually I never expected them to win anyways. They were just the message and the message was received.' Bill rubbed his hands together. 'And best of all, they are not the only ones on their way. I got a few new friends coming to pick up the slack. Now we just need to work on making sure that portal is up and running by then.'

Darklands, The Forsaken Valley
A day before Team VKJN's return

The Grimm Horde dared to cross into the valley, and the Gunslinger stood to drive them back. While nothing like regular wildlife the Grimm still did have the ability to learn if a pattern repeated itself for long enough, giving them the capacity to adapt to new plans. Fortunately these plans were typically one variety or another of reliance on overwhelming numbers.

This was nothing to Roland Deschain, save a drain on his munitions.

Leaving behind a trail of dissolving Grimm bodies, Roland made the trek back to the nearest safe spot. After a push as reckless as that he wanted to remain away from his home until he was certain that the valley was cleared. Once there he engaged a series of jury rigged traps that would warn him far in advance of any unwelcome visitors, partook of some meat from his latest hunt and then laid back to pass the night away in slumber.

Laying back with his upper body propped up, Roland folded his hands across his chest and closed his eyes, drifting off…

And when he opened his eyes, he beheld a great golden owl.

"Hi." It said, raising one wing in greeting.

Roland's brow furrowed, puzzled by the sight. His surroundings remained the same as before, save for the gargantuan owl perched on a branch overhead.

"You're dreaming." It informed him.

"That much was painfully obvious." Roland grumbled, raising himself up in a sitting position. "And you are the Cosmic Owl, one of the Spiral."

"Yup." The Owl nodded.

"And that you visit me in my dream would mean an omen of ill health for my coming days." Roland deduced.

"Not exactly, buuuuut that might be down the line." The Owl replied. "I'm here because someone wants to talk with you."

"Who seeks me out?" Roland questioned.

"Who else would seek out the blood of Arthur Eld?" The Owl replied with its own question. "Gan is waiting. C'mon, time's wasting." It spread its wings and passed them over Roland, enveloping him in shadow…and once it receded the facsimile of Roland's encampment was replaced by…a field of red roses that stretched off into eternity, reaching towards a distant setting sun…

And behind him, casting an impossibly long shadow was a great black spire that seemed to pierce the sky itself.

Roland felt his heart almost leap into his throat. "Can'-Ka No Rey…" He whispered.

"Not really." The Cosmic Owl replied, fluttering overhead. "The Center Point of Creation is…kind of bad for mortal eyes, so it takes on a shape that you can comprehend. For you, I guess that's…here."

"Not a bad setting though." Another voice broke in as a small, blue skinned man with a thick white beard, matching eyebrows, red eyes with diamond shaped pupils and a pink gem embedded in his forehead floated down, sitting on thin air cross legged. "Don't mind me, I'm just passing through. Owly, see you for poker night?"

"I'm determined to win my stuff back." The Owl informed him cordially as Glossaryck kept on moving through.

"Wasn't that hard to get in the first place." Glossaryck replied without looking back.

"…I'm torn between feeling sad and mad." The Owl disclosed to Roland. "But we should get you to your meeting. C'mon." He led Roland towards the base of the tower.

"If this place is how my mind interprets it then why must we walk anywhere?" Roland asked…before he found himself at the top of a set of stairs leading directly into the foreboding darkness of the tower's inner bowels.

"That happens a lot." The Owl informed him, setting down on his talons and stepping inside. "This place has a mind of its own sometimes. Best not to think too hard on it, not unless you like your brain exploding."

Roland followed the Owl into a labyrinth of featureless, black passageways that were just large enough to move through with some comfort. Eventually they came to open up on a balcony overlooking Can'-Ka No Rey…

And not a soul in sight.

"Where is he?" Roland asked as the Owl fluttered into the air again.

"Gan is all around." The Owl perched overhead. "Listen, Roland Deschain."

Roland approached the railing separating him from an impossibly high fall. From here he could see the endless void of roses stretch out for hundreds of miles, over the horizons of this constructed setting. As he gazed out at them he felt a breath in his ear.

Blood of Eld…

"Gan?" Roland lifted his head, alert as he looked around.

I am here…I am all…

"…as far as explanations go that is unhelpful, confounding and exactly what I've come to expect of higher deities." Roland admitted. "What has caused you to summon me here?"

Danger to the All…the Dark One reaches for the Guardians of the Spiral…

Off in the distance, Roland could make out images in the sky...

"Fallen." Roland growled, recognizing Moloch and Skarr. "I stand watch over their House."

The Fallen close in upon the scions of Candy, Ice and Slime… Gan told him. Others struggle. Others fight. But they will fail…even you will fail.

"I won't hand them victory." Roland vowed.

And yet victory will be theirs unless change comes…

Roland leaned heavily on the railing. "What change?" He asked. "What must be done?"

An exchange. A covenant between the all and the one.

"Am I the one?"

Yes.

"What must be given and what will be gained?" Roland asked directly.

The Owl nodded his head. "Gotta like the guts on this one."

The Light of the All…for the Light of the Soul.

"My Semblance." Roland immediately concluded.

"Got it in one." The Owl said. "Not a lot of people make that deal, even the greater kings. The Semblance is a reflection of the soul and they were scared that losing it meant losing a part of themselves."

"Then they were not greater." Roland replied. "Everything that is said here will come to pass, correct?"

"Yyyyyup." The Owl said, making a popping sound on the tail end of the word.

"Then there is nothing else to discuss." Roland stepped into the middle of the balcony. "I accept your exchange!" He called out. "Let it be done!"

So it shall be.

The very doors through which Roland had stepped out onto the balcony opened…and orbs of light floated out through them, eleven in all that moved around him in a circular formation. Roland could hear whispers from each of them, voices of men and women, young and old all calling out to him.

Then one of them shot forward and struck him in the eyes. Roland gasped and fell to his knees, an unseen force propping him up and keeping him still as the next light followed, and another until all eleven had sunk into his skull.

Roland Deschain, son of Stephen, blood of Arthur Eld and last of the Gunslingers. The Light of the All is yours to wield, and in turn you forsake the Light of the Soul. You shall carry within you the power of Kings, and eleven lights to be gifted to eleven knights. Go now, Scion of Eld, seek these knights and combat the Darkness.

Roland opened his eyes…and stared at the sky overhead, laying back in his encampment where he'd gone to sleep.

Yet he felt different now…lighter.

"The Elementals." He pushed himself up and gathered his supplies. "They must be saved."

Almost as soon as he took his first step he knew where to go. The three Elementals in the Darklands shined like great beacons in the night, surrounded by a sea of writhing, foaming black water filled with creatures of the deep reaching up to drag them down. By his second step Roland felt the ripples in that dark sea…and by the third he was able to rip it open and plunge into the Todash, cutting through time and space more by instinct than intent. To all sides he spied glimpses of otherworldly entities never touched by light, creatures banished by foolhardy sorcerers and entities that would drive lesser men to rip out their eyes on sight.

In short order he was spat back out into the world he knew…amidst a battlefield.

Sammael's eyes shot open, seeing a bright light appeared in the darkness of the forest before him. "…Gunslinger and something else…A presence I have not felt since the fall of Gilead."

So the last of the Gunslingers was making his move and he carried with him the power that made Gilead a formidable foe.

"It's always one thing after another…" Sammael said before smirking. "I don't believe I've had this much trouble in a long time..."

Three Elementals.

The Viking God of Rock.

The Infraggable Krunk.

The Symbol of Justice.

The last of Overwatch.

The wielder of the Grimoire Weiss.

The Grimm Slayer.

And now the Gunslinger with powers of his ancestors.

"All of these problems and yet I still find myself with a smile on my face." Sammael mused. "How much fun will I have here?"
