Opening File: The Catalyst Comet
The Catalyst Comet is a massive comet that hits the Earth every 1000 years. It was discovered back during the Forgotten Age that the comet has hit the planet repeatedly, always bringing with it some kind of agent of change. During the Cretaceous period, a green incarnation of the comet approached Earth, and it was known that on this occasion its impact would cause massive devastation, even killing Urgence Evergreen and the other Elementals. Evergreen sought to prevent this catastrophe using a magical crown that he had created to grant its wearer's deepest wish, but was opposed by his fellow Elementals. Evergreen responded by freezing them and proceeding with his plan, but met with failure due to his apprentice Gunther donning the crown and losing his sanity as he turned into what he saw Evergreen as: an ice wizard who ordered people around.
The comet struck, and presumably wiped out all life in that time. With each hit the comet eventually reincarnates in an entirely new form and reappears a thousand years later to impact the planet again. Once it impacts the Earth the entity that it becomes part of the life cycle on the planet as an agent of good, evil and the forces in between.

"Let me just congratulate you all on not only returning here safe and sound but for all your bravery and courage." Phil Ken Sebben began.
He had come over to the Hall of Heroes to see everyone and check in on how they were doing. For the most part they seemed to be holding up. Nigel and Abby were with Monty who was happily reunited with his wife. Wally was standing proudly with his uncle Lou Beatles. Omnimon was standing with his fellow Digimon, the three Legendary Warriors.
Nier and Jesse decided to stay a bit longer before Nier needed to return to Japan. Krunk had recovered and was with the two Justice Friend members he was closest with: Major Glory and Valhallen. Meanwhile the Peach Creek kids were all together, listening silently as Sebben spoke to them.
"From the rescue on the Gem Homeworld to being displaced in the Darklands. I am glad you all made it back and I apologize for not doing more to prevent this entire mess from happening in the first place. I speak to the Uno family most of all as I express my apologies. The matter of the Gems was left to another group that was trusted to handle it but it seems even they could not have anticipated all of this." Sebben continued. "I promise that I will take every effort to make sure this does not happen again."
"Thank you, Mr. Sebben." Monty nodded in gratitude.
"Before I change the subject there is the matter of the two Gems you brought back with you." Sebben said, gesturing to the two gemstones Nigel and Abby were holding. "Do you intend to keep them?"
Nigel and Abby shared a quite look and nodded.
"They were…made for us, Mr. Sebben. They helped us because they didn't know what else to do." Nigel answered honestly. "I think they will be safe with us…Whenever they come out."
Sebben nodded and turned to Ed who had Slime Pearl with him. "And you, Mr. Hill?"
"Pearl is Ed's friend." Ed answered simply.
"Very well." Sebben nodded in compliance, seeing no need to argue. "Now then, onto the matter of the two other boys from Peach Creek. The boy Kevin is resting but we've done a thorough scan of his mind and for the most part he won't remember anything that happened during his time on the Gem planet or the abduction. As for Jimmy he's been behaving during his stay, as far as I know. Both should be ready to return home as soon as Kevin wakes up."
Sebben took a moment to consider what else to say but found nothing else he decided to wrap things up. "Now, many of you no doubt have many questions about what has happened in the Darklands."
"You mean besides the whole mess with the Elementals and something they are supposed to be guarding?" Eddy asked.
"Rolf is curious as well." Rolf admitted.
"I expected as much. It is something that should be shared openly, considering it's one of mankind's greatest secrets." Sebben sighed.
"So you are not going to tell us?" Eddy asked, crossing his arms.
"I will but you must promise to never speak of what is said to anyone else…Ever." Sebben stated. "If this secret comes out you will be at the center of the greatest catastrophe in history."
"Dramatic much." Eddy mumbled.
"Actually, considering what you just went through not so much." Sebben replied. "The Elementals were created during the dawn of life on this planet to keep the destructive forces of the Grimm and what they could create at bay. The powers they guard are the building blocks of what made the people of this world who they are today. Twelve gifts: Heart, Creation, Strength, Destruction, Form, Mind, Soul, Nature, Bond, Sight, Youth and Ability. These are not metaphorical gifts; they are physical incarnations of a power born at the beginning of the universe and it is imperative that they remain hidden at all costs."
The group was silent as they considered Sebben's words. Nigel, Abby and Omnimon already knew since Sebben had already told them.
"There are forces in this world who would seek these gifts and if they knew who the Elementals are they would come for them to find these gifts." Sebben continued. "That's why their identities are always kept secret and why the existence of what they protect is kept hidden from the rest of the world. I cannot tell you much more about this as for now the less you know the better. Only that you should take time to process what you know now and whether you want to know everything else or decide you are better off not knowing. For now, rest, relax, gather your bearings and decide what you should do with what you know now and after what you have been through."
Sebben took a deep breath to compose himself.
"These might not be the answers you want but they are the only answers I can give you at this time." Sebben said, folding his arms behind his back. "Now, I must return to my office. I wish you all a good rest from all of this."
"Mr. Sebben." Abby suddenly spoke up, stopping the mayor before he could leave. "If it's not too much trouble, can me, Nigel and Omni speak with you about something?"
Sebben raised an eyebrow but saw no reason to deny her. "Of course. I believe we can speak in my office."

"So, what did you wish to ask me?" Sebben said, sitting in his chair while the Uno family and Omnimon sat or stood before him.
"Back on the Gem planet Nigel and I experienced…visions." Abby started, taking a deep breath. "They were about our past lives."
Sebben remained composed but was now interested in what they had to say.
"We know about the first Elementals, what things were like during the Forgotten Age…and we know about Sammael." Nigel brought up. "…The Ice Elemental was the one who…created him."
Omnimon glanced to Nigel, seeing how nervous the boy was.
"Urgence Evergreen." Sebben spoke up. "Not exactly the most liked of the Elementals."
Nigel nodded. "There was a meteor coming that was going to wipe out all life…like the dinosaurs. He proposed making a magical crown that could grant wishes and he wanted to wish the meteor away which would be dumb but it wasn't an ordinary meteor."
"You are right. It wasn't an ordinary meteor." Sebben nodded in agreement. "The comet Evergreen was afraid of was called the Catalyst Comet. You'll eventually find out on your own but I see no reason to keep this secret from now that you have seen it. The Catalyst Comet is an entity that takes the form of a comet, appearing and impacting the Earth every one thousand years and when it impacts the planet it brings it an agent of change."
"An agent of change?" Abby questioned.
"Change." Sebben nodded again. "Every time it is reborn it becomes an agent of good, evil, creation, destruction and other forces. These forces become part of our world while the comet eventually takes an entirely new form. Evergreen was afraid at the time because it had been reborn as an entity seeking extinction and thought he could remove it from the cycle but…I am sure you know it didn't turn out as planned."
"He made the crown after he betrayed the other Elementals but it was stolen before he could use it. It was stolen by a cult that…Worshipped the Grimm." Nigel continued. "They used it…to make…"
"Sammael." Sebben finished for him. "So your visions went that far back and told you that much."
"They did by tossing a sick child into the Pool of Darkness…" Nigel clenched a fist. "And the mother wished for him to survive…to live…Live through anything. The Wish of…Infinite Life."
Sebben closed his eye. "Yes. That's how the Fallen were created. All attempts to create vessel who could hold the primordial darkness in them failed but when Evergreen created the crown they saw an opportunity. If they could infuse someone with the darkness and survive it, they could create a fusion of human and Grimm. Unfortunately they succeeded."
"So you knew…" Abby spoke up. "Did you know that…Sammael can't be killed?"
Omnimon looked between them and Sebben. "Cannot be killed?"
"He cannot be killed by mortal means, both science and magic. That's how he has lived for so long. Not even the Elementals that came after Evergreen's generation could kill him. The Pool of Darkness is a force of pure destruction but not even that could kill a being with infinite life granted by a wish that can alter reality itself." Sebben explained. "That's what allowed Sammael to survive the Pool of Darkness as an infant and what came after."
"How do you know? And if you knew all this time why did you have everyone believe there is a chance to win?" Nigel asked.
"Because there is a chance to win." Sebben answered calmly, bringing a hand to his eyepatch. "I have seen it…"
Nigel and Abby stared with widened eyes as Sebben lifted his eyepatch, revealing a crystalline eye, staring at them. "Is that…"
"The Gem of Sight. One of the Twelve Spiral Gems and the twelve gifts to Humanity." Sebben lowered his eye patch. "With it I can view over million possible futures for each and every outcome that every person will ever contemplate or make. I've used it to look into the future of this world I have seen one future where we not only win against Sammael but all evil, bringing forth an era of peace for not just Earth but maybe the whole universe."
"Really? How?" Abby asked.
"I cannot tell you because if I did tell how it comes to be it would never happen." Sebben shook his head. "That's my burden as a Spiral Wielder. I cannot tell you what happens because if I did you'd try to make sure it would happen but trying to influence the future turns not only risks turning people you need against you but even turns time itself against you. Try to manipulate time it tends to backfire. It's why I cannot tell you or even my closest friends and allies what must be done, only try to guide them along the path of what I know has the best chance of guaranteeing that perfect possible future despite the odds."
"So you can't directly tell anyone but give indirect hints." Monty surmised. "That's…a very strong burden."
"One I have worked to use for the good of everyone. Unfortunately that also means I must either allow or ignore certain tragedies that happen while trying to help prevent the worst possible outcomes for every battle, every conflict and every form of danger from Grimm, Fallen to even low level criminals." Sebben continued with a somber sigh. "It's also taxing when I use its power as I can only use it once every three days at best and even then the more I use it to look into the future if I go too far I can end up having to go weeks, months and even a whole year without it. So I have to be careful about how I use it and how much I reveal. I used it to learn as much as I could about Sammael, his past, his powers and what he intends to do but there are other forces beside him and the Fallen attempting to make their mark on Earth and the universe. All that matters for the time being is that everyone is allowed to make their own choices and believe they will make the best ones for themselves and the future."
Nigel and Abby were made silent as they looked each other and then Monty and Jennifer while Omnimon contemplated what he had learned.
"It's harrowing, I know." Sebben took a moment to get himself a glass of water. "It's also why I don't talk much about it."
"Did your abilities ever show me or other Digimon?" Omnimon asked. "If you have seen them I don't see why you can't tell me now."
"Well, I can say there have been references that fit you and the other Digimon for sure, saying that they would be among the Fallen's most dangerous enemies. I am not sure about when or how if you return to your world but I know each of you have your own journey ahead of you here. As a Royal Knight, a Legendary Warrior, a hero and a hunter and you'll be faced with your own unique challenges." Sebben explained honestly. "I can say for sure though, your destiny is tied with another Digimon's that was brought here around the same time you were found by Mr. Uno and you'll soon find them."
Omnimon believed he knew who Sebben was talking about. "I see…"
"At the same time your destiny is also tied to the destiny of the friends you make here." Sebben gestured to Nigel, Abby and Monty. "And the allies you find. You'll need them, especially after what happened in the Darklands."
Omnimon remembered his encounter with Sir James and knew what Sebben was talking about. "I understand…"
"I am glad." Sebben smiled. "I believe for all you've been through a vacation may be in order. If you have any place you want to visit I will certainly pay for the transportation myself. You've more than earned a chance to rest."
"We'll talk first but thank you, Mr. Sebben." Monty stood up with a smile. "I haven't had such an adventure since I was around the same age as these kids. I need to be careful or I might throw my back."
Sebben chuckled a bit. "Imagine being me."
"I imagine you have a good health plan." Monty laughed as the family turned to the door. "Thank you for sending help, Mr. Sebben. Despite your need to keep secrets, you try to do the right thing and I can't envy the position you are in. Though if you ever drop by for dinner I am sure we can make something special."
Sebben leaned back in his chair with a smile. "I'll certainly consider it."
Omnimon nodded to Sebben as he followed after the Uno family. "I thank you for helping them as well."
"It was my pleasure." Sebben looked out the glass wall behind. "My pleasure."

"Got any clubs?"
"Nah, goldfish."
Two mercs were playing cards while someplace in another part of the island while waiting for orders after being hired by Van Rook and the amazon warrior for good pay.
"You guys think there really are dragons beneath the surface?" A female parrot Mobian spoke while dealing some cards in her winged hands.
"Yeah, some groups showed us and couldn't believe it. I heard some could be as big as a mountain or able to take on a Kaiju Grimm from legends." Another spoke, one being a bearded human before taking a cigar.
"I don't buy this, seems too good but they ain't telling us the whole thing. Something about this place gives me the creeps. Sooner we leave the better." An older male said.
"Hey, keep a look out, will ya? Not getting any response from the ground unit. I'm gonna try call the bos-whoa!" Suddenly the man went silent and vanished. The group were not certain but the mercenary was no were in sight.
"Where'd he go?" The first male asked.
"Probably too drunk and fell overboard. Those guys probably joined for bigger bucks."
Another yelped and vanished, then suddenly the parrot cried out and was pulled into a swirling blue portal. The group was startled and pulled their guns and weapons out but they found more portals open and their pals fell out, landing roughly on the ground.
"Where they coming from?!"
"Yoohoo!" They turned to see a blue haired girl waving at them. "Mind if we crash the party?"
She chuckled and took a leap into a newly opened portal and more opened. A big furry hand grabbed one merc from behind and pulled them in. Two more opened and arrows shot out, knocking the remaining group unconscious and tied up. Stepping out were Ross, Doyle and Superboy.
"Ok, that's the lot of them rounded up. I placed a tracker on Van Rook before we came; hopefully long enough to get close." Doyle said to them and kicked a groaning grunt unconscious.
Ross nodded his head after listening. "Got it. I'll contact Jerry and send a group with him to be prepared. Global Justice are on high alert when they were told about this."
"These guys seem too easy; feel like they weren't expecting something." Conner thought and knew it seems so easy for them to defeat the goons who hardly realized who they were dealing with.
After learning about Yara's semblance they easily escaped and North's strength helped them break free but felt someone had played them. It seemed Van Rook and Bertha needed some fools who would do anything for cash without knowing the full details.
"That's probably what he expected and also for Argost's only concern of finding the Hidden World using expendable forces." Doyle suggested.
Yara stepped out of a portal to meet them. "All of us are ready when you are." She said, not wasting time and stepped through.
North brushed his hands after a job done, a little annoyed to have been 'beaten' and chained. "Normally I shouldn't let my emotions get the better, but to be treated like a common animal really gets on my nerve."
"She reminds me much of some back in my world." Artemis recalls some heroines and villainess' such as Wonder Woman and Devastation on both sides, thinking what would happen if her universe gets involved in this.
"Obviously obtained some magical artifact but let's focus on stopping them." Ross told them and loaded some weapons such as guns in his pocket, loaded with special bullets designed to stun a person. Despite being more of a swordsman but he was still skilled in shooting from times of working for the GJ.
Doyle grabbed his stuff and with his jetpack destroyed he will need Stryker for that. The dragon stood and let him hoist his stuff over his back.
"Need a hand?" He turned to see Erika came over to help, now fitted with a new jacket since her first one was torn.
Possibly having swiped it from one of the downed goons but still showing her stomach and cleavage with the new scaled bikini.
"Uh, yeah just need to get him set and the saddle." She helped him adjust the tightening.
He was not sure if she was still mad at him or not, but always learned from Lodin that women are a mystery and never able to understand them.
"Listen, about earlier sorry I was not able to tell you but the thing is I found out something you won't believe-"
"Just a sec, something I've been meaning to do." Looking about first and then she punched him straight in the stomach, surprising him and though he was able to stay on his feet but still hurt. "That's for being so reckless without even sending me a message." She narrowed her eyes at him and held her gloved hands to her hips.
Doyle only gave a nervous smile. "Ok yeah, I deserved that."
Not that it was any different from all the mishaps they did over the years.
"Of all the things to do, pirates, starting a fight with the Scotsman of all people, and even made Nessie chase after us over haggis when we were in our pre-teens during the trip."
"To be fair, no one told me what it was made off before she chased after me." Doyle pointed out but didn't help his case.
Erika sighed and held her head with her left. "You just sometimes act like a kid, always getting in trouble, starting fights and think without your head and also-ummph?!"
She was cut off from her lecture when she felt a pair of strong arms holding her by the waist and her voice silenced by Doyle's lips. She was startled and blushed before he pulled away with a cocky smirk.
"And also the most daring, charming and handsome fella to fall for the Silver Valkyrie?"
She hated to admit but she always did enjoy this and smirked back at him coyly. That was something she loved about him since the day they met and first started out like best friends and then lovers, it was something she didn't know how to explain until her mother explained it.
"You big idiot." She gave another kiss and hugged him. "But when we get back, I might have something in mind."
Leaving the embrace she walked off, swaying her hips that made Doyle sigh and turn to his dragon. "Something about the way she gets angry makes me fall for her, bud. Lodin's right, women are strange." He eagerly climbs on to the dragon and felt like old times riding alongside Stryker who flapped his wings and took off. But there was one thing he forgot to mention about, not only about the Kur stone but also another big surprise, but will wait until they finish one problem first.

"Since the drill is already finished we all have the choice to go to the island to meet Team REYN or continue the mission to stop the Cluster." Garnet said, laying out the choice to her fellow Gems along with Steven and Connie.
"I fail to see the importance of this." Peridot stated.
Pearl rolled her eyes. "Of course you wouldn't."
"We are running out of time. The Cluster could start emerging any time now. The fusion experiments in the Kindergarten already hatched so the Cluster will follow not long after." Peridot continued. "We also need coordinates."
"Coordinates?" Steven asked.
"We need the Cluster's exact coordinates in order to drill." Peridot clarified.
"There's a Diamond base that may hold the information ut getting there is going to be difficult." Pearl suggested.
"How come?" Steven asked.
"Because it's not accessible by warp pad. And it's on..." Pearl pointed through a window at a familiar sight in the sky.
"The moon?!" Steven exclaimed.
"Yes. The main base that was in charge of coordinating Earth's colonization at the time." Connie stated. "It would have all the information we need."
"So how do we get there?" Amethyst wondered.
"I believe I can offer a suggestion." Rossweisse cut in and turned to Johnny. "This is an opportunity for you, Johnny."
"How so?" Johnny asked.
Rossweisse smiled. "I believe this is a chance for you to learn how to summon the Bifrost."
Pearl's eyes widened in surprise. "Of course! The Bifrost! Asgard was able to transport their armies to anywhere on the planet during the Rebellion!"
"We can also Lion." Steven suggested and looked around. "Anyone know where Lion is?"
"Perhaps for now we try the Bifrost." Rossweisse said. "We can teleport to the Moon Base and then to Berk with the coordinates."
"So what does this Pie Frost do? Sounds like a frosty pie….Hmm, pie." Johnny licked his lips.
"The Bifrost is what will allow you to travel to almost any place in the universe or the Nine Realms." Rossweisse explained. "It will be a very important part of your training."
"Sweet. Do you know any place that has good pie?"
