Opening File: The Symbiote Program

While studying the vast and numerous universes of the multiverse, Van Kleiss came upon a fascinating extraterrestrial species that had the potential to enhance his own Pack army. This species while not formidable on their own, had the ability to enhance the strengths and abilities of anyone they chose as their hosts. On the Earths of these parallel realities these creatures are called Symbiotes and the few hosts they have made become formidable enough that Van Kleiss believed that even having one on his side would make him unstoppable. He managed to procure a sample from the Symbiote known as Spider-Carnage, considering him to be the strongest Symbiote to be found on any parallel Earths before his defeat and much to his delight, the sample would become a Symbiote on its own with the potential to produce more.

With a potential for an army of Symbiotes at his beck and call, Van Kleiss stored them in the sub-basements of his fortress that he had built with the resources he had gained from spying on the multiverse. Originally, he had only the underground laboratory that had been set up for him by Sammael but overtime, with his knowledge of nanites and what he gained from his portal machine, Van Kleiss turned a simply underground lab into a massive fortress built into the Nowhere Mountains themselves.

While his plan for a Symbiote army had potential Van Kleiss saw one fatal flaw in his plan: the Symbiotes seemingly could not be controlled.

No matter what methods he tried, the Symbiotes would not obey him and if they could not obey him he could not utilize them. Not even his nanites could infect and control the Symbiotes for their biology made them naturally immune. Left with no possible way to control the Symbiotes, Van Kleiss sealed them away.

It is noted that there is one human who was used as a host in part of the experiment before the Symbiotes were sealed.

"All those born into this world and all worlds are born with the insatiable drive for having hopes and dreams. And with these dreams, comes the desire for a straight path to achieving these goals, even if it is painfully obvious that such paths almost never appear in one's entire lifetime. Sometimes, these goals and dreams are forgotten and replaced with new ones over time as we grow and our mental state changes. But often enough, the main reason for these changes is because of outside forces we have no control over." A side of Sammael's face is shown as he smiles and opens the only eye that is seen.

Spider-Man was contending with the Green Goblin who was still wielding his demonic sword, Mayhem.

"Haven't you been looking around, Goblin?" Spider-Man spun out of the way of another slash. "It's over now. Your boss has fled, and your buddies are losing!"

"They are no allies of mine!" Green Goblin retorted as he unleashed a blast of red demonic energy. "And Van Kleiss was never my boss!"

SAM-R-I landed in front of Spider-Man, conjuring an electrical barrier that blocked the blast. "Whether he was your master or not, your side is still losing. Surrender now and you will be treated with mercy."

"Mercy?" Goblin scoffed and chuckled. "I don't know the meaning of that word."

"You'll wish you did if you don't tell me where Mary Jane is." Spider-Man said, having enough of Goblin refusing to answer his question.

"So, you want to save dear Mary Jane?" Goblin snickered as he pointed Mayhem down at the floor. "Very well…I WILL TAKE YOU TO HER!"

Goblin plunged his sword into the ground and it glowed bright red. Red energy traveled around the three in a circle that immediately fell through a brand new hole.

Of all demons and Lords of Chaos from across the Multiverse Klarion had to deal with, it had to be none other than Canaletto who got trapped in a prison by the Spiral and the Lords of Order eons ago, he found the giant avian-like demon's ways boring and no fun. Now he's suddenly freed and no doubt trying to ruin his fun. The Lords of Chaos stood within the seal when he should be partying with the other criminals right now.

"So, you finally got out of your little cage? Good to know."

"And I see you have not changed at all since the last ten thousand years, Witch Child." Canaletto responds. "With my strength restored, I will at last finish what I have started."

"Let's cut to the chase, already, I know why you're here, but's unnecessary. Unlike Bill and my apprentice Nyx, I don't need back up, I don't need the other Lords of Chaos to butt in... and especially you, or your bird."

"I have other more important things to deal with than the likes of you. Bill Cipher and I have made an arrangement." Caneletto clarified, which surprised Klarion that he wasn't going to. "My work is far greater than what either of you have and plans to change the balance of Chaos and Order."

The Witch Boy snorts of his pursuit of his goals. "Please, the Order snobs gave you the boot, so you came crawling to us for revenge." He flashed a poison filled smile, "You might stand with us but you have never been a true Lord of Chaos."

Rather than giving into his insults, the ancient Lord of Chaos brushed it aside. "It is true, I had been casted out by my other because of my intentions and refused to see the flaw in the balance, but O came to realize of my true potential in chaos. Did it ever make you wonder why I was imprisoned and not banished from this mortal plane? Why the Lords of Order and other entities fear my return?"

Klarion didn't seem to care for his answer. "Gee, I dunno, maybe you were the most boring and easiest to capture?"

Caneletto then chuckled of how naive he was. "Oh, quite the opposite. There are some Lords of Chaos that are known to be far greater than others, and a force of nature to be reckoned with." Flexing his appendages like wings. "I may have been imprisoned, but my power and influence was strong enough to cause certain moments in this reality and bring agents to do my bidden. While you have been nothing then waste time doing someone's bidden."

"Hey! Savage and I are partners for plans we have together!" Not somewhat surprise that Canaletto was aware of his partnership with a version of Vandal Savage in Dimension Earth-16.

This did not seem to convince Caneletto of his statement, narrowing his crimson eyes on the male. "That remains to be seen."

"But I got such plans for that world, I made a new Lady of Chaos and got plans for Earth-17!" Teekl let out a meow in response. "Yeah, I know it's still on my to-do list."

"And what of GOLB approaching this reality?" Canaletto brings up. "With the tear to this world open, it will be a matter of time for the Crimson God to arrive and all we have prepared and planned for will be for nothing."

"Okay, you got me there. But don't think this was my fault! This isn't one of my ideas!" Klarion shout back. "This time."

"Meow."

"Hey! Who's side are you on?"

"I grew weary of this conversation; there is much to be done. And you should be prepared for your coming... replacement in due time." He then vanished before Klarion could ask what he meant by that. But thought it was just a empty threat.

"Pff, whatever, probably thinks if he can do a better job than me. Come on, Tel, I wanna play the Spin the Human game." Klarion snickered, but then remembered about Nyx.

He hadn't seen her much but possibly was having some fun of her own. For any other demons he could maybe seek out that demon whose name is a name that must not be said and others imprisoned on Earth to let out the fun.

All around the tower, Grimm known as Volcano Toads were lined up just outside of the mountains.

"Let it rain fire." Sammael brought his hand down.

With that, the Volcano Toad Grimm's cannons that were part of their bodies glowed…before firing balls of dark matter and fire into the air…

That then began falling towards the former fortress of Van Kleiss.

Major Glory's eyes widened to see the literal rain of fire coming towards him, Superboy and Van Kleiss' fortress. Too many were coming, even for him to stop and the fact they were made of Grimm matter meant if anyone touched them they would die instantly.

Including Superboy!

Thinking quickly, Major Glory grabbed Superboy and shot back towards the fortress, leaving Sammael to watch as they fled.

"Typical." Sammael sighed. "Hero always placing the safety of those around him first."

Major Glory made it to the hole that had been made when Scotty had sent Van Kleiss flying out of the fortress, flying in and quickly shouted to everyone. "We have to take cover!"

"Already on it!"

The reply came from Extor who was over at the main computer with Albert, typing frantically. Major Glory looked back up, seeing the artillery falling towards the fortress, about to hit when…

A force field surrounded the fortress and blocked the flaming dark matter barrage!

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

The Volcano Toads continued firing and their 'shells' exploded on impact against the force field.

MaJor Glory turned around and sighed in relief. "You got the force field back up."

"It's a temporary solution at best." Extor turned around to face everyone. "I rerouted the energy surge from the ion cannons to main shield generator. The good news is that will keep the ion cannons from overloading and blowing up, taking us and the fortress with it."

"And the bad news?" Rino asked, knowing there was a catch.

"The shields are draining quickly from the barrage. It will go soon and then nothing will stop this fortress from blowing." Albert answered. "We're living on borrowed time."

"And we don't exactly have a way out." Baron spoke up. "The portal machine is gone and with the shield up we can't make a run for it."

"Then we use this." Scotty pulled out his sword and the Celtic runes on the blade started to glow.

"Scotty, wait-" Before Extor could stop him, Scotty slashed the air in front of him to create a portal.

Only the portal didn't seem stable.

The outer rings of it were uneven and jittering and lightning was actually pulsing from it.

"What the-" Scotty gaped, too slow to move as his portal broke down and exploded.

BOOM!

Everyone else staggered back by the explosion but Scotty was too close to the blast, much to the concern of his teammates. "SCOTTY!"

Luckily when the smoke cleared, a dome of black energy had protected Scotty from the last. The Scotsman opened his eyes and lowered his hand as the energy shield dissipated and he looked over his shoulder, casting a thankful smile at the one who saved him.

Raven stepped forward. "I guess Van Kleiss modified his shields to prevent any kind of escape, even magic."

"I'm afraid so." Extor adjusted his goggles. "I checked over the logs and Van Kleiss designed his shield generators with a jamming field that disrupts any kind of portals aside from his own portal machine, generated by Semblances or magic."

"So, we're really stuck here." Capital G crossed his arms. "And Sammael's just outside."

Major Glory looked around and noticed certain people happened to be missing. "Wait a minute…The villains associated with Van Kleiss…Almost all of them are missing!"

It was true.

The only ones left were Skalamander, Biowulf, Copperhead and Shade.

"Yeah, about that." Rex Salazar stepped forward. "They took off."

The American themed hero glanced at him. "Where?"

"We told them Van Kleiss had a special kind of escape ship he had built in case the fortress was taken." Biowulf answered. "It was designed using the specs of the Legion of Doom's original headquarters in their universe, even after it was modified for space flight."

Xxx

"And here we are."

Personally, ChaosPiedmon would have just left everyone behind but in this world, he found himself needing allies, despite his considerable powers. He had turned the gorilla named Grodd and the majority of the Secret Society aside from the ghost and the snake intangible, allowing them to save time as they fell through the many floors of the fortress until they reached the designated basement.

The fifth sub-basement.

It was a massive underground hangar, housing a massive dome shaped ship.

"Yes. This looks exactly like my headquarters." Grodd stepped forward on his four spider legs. "Even after that neanderthal Lex modified it into a space ship."

"Glad it meets your approval." ChaosPiedmon drawled. "But the question is can you fly it?"

"It shouldn't be that hard to figure out." Grodd said as he pulled out a small control device.

With a single press of a button, the doors opened and allowed the Legion of Doom and their Dark Master ally to enter the ship.

"With any luck, we'll be out of harm's way long before the fighting starts. If anything, those Grimm will take care of the heroes and stop them from pursuing us." Grodd said as he led the group through the hallways of the ship, coming upon the bridge. "We'll have to do what Lex did and escape into deep space."

"So as long as we're far from the fight, I don't care." The mutant formerly known as Weather Wizard grunted.

"What about Copperhead and Shade? Think they won't tell anyone?" Goldface asked.

"Even if they did, they wouldn't be able to follow us." Grodd answered as he came upon the command controls and got to work.

A second later the lights came on and humming sounds from hyperspace engine could be heard by everyone.

Xxx

"So why didn't you guys take off?" Artemis questioned with a hand on her hip.

"Because we're sick and tired of this!" Copperhead exclaimed, surprising almost everyone. "First Shade and I joined the Legion of Doom because the Justice League was getting too big, even for us small time crooks. Then Luthor took over and we already had our fill with him and tried to mutiny and when that failed, we got frozen by that psycho Killer Frost!" Copperhead shivered. "If Van Kleiss didn't rescue us when our headquarters blew up, we would have been dead! And then we're brought here and mutated to join his gang and now we lost and we're about to die!"

Copper Head whose eyes were pink pricks by this point and whose breath was coming out in gasps, grabbed his head and screamed. "WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIEE!"

After his rant, Copperhead surprised everyone by proceeding to break down into tears.

Baron walked up grabbed Copper his shoulders and raised their right hand before bringing it down, "Pull...yourself...together...man!"

Slap!

Slap!

Slap!

SLAP!

Each statement echoed by a powerful slap and back slap before Baron stepped back, "This is no time to be freaking out!"

Copper Head let out a broken slightly unhinged laugh his fellow former member of Grodd's Secret Society unnerved, because of Shade had never seen fellow super villain like this, and because for few seconds that unhinged laughter reminded them all too well of the clown prince of crime.

Shade actually spoke out with his tone showing actual concern. "Cop."

Before Copper Head ignored him and proceeded to snap at Baron. "Not the time to freak out. NOT THE TIME TO FREAK!" He glared at Baron and the other gathered heroes and hunters, "THIS IS PERFECT FUCKING TIME TO FREAK OUT!"

Everyone was now staring with most surprised faces at how Copperhead was acting now.

"In case you haven't noticed…THERE'S ENTIRE ARMY OF MONSTERS OUT THERE!" He slithered forward hunching as he started to clench and shake his head in his hands, "Lead by a guy who looks like he could give freaking Darkseid lessons in evil." Tears ran down his face as he cried and broke down into tears, "Its game over man...I WANT TO GO HOOOOOOOMMMMMMEEEE!"

He was curled up into a ball by now, silently sobbing to himself while everyone simply looked on and their faces expressing mostly pity to Copperhead.

"I mean…he's not wrong." Artemis silently admitted to Superboy who nodded in agreement.

Raven was almost reminded of Doctor Light in how Copperhead was acting but in this case Copperhead's breakdown was more due to the immense stress of the situation he had been in for a while now.

Being saved from certain death and mutated against his will.

Fighting for his life to serve a madman.

And now caught in the middle of a battle of life and death with the army of monsters waiting outside.

Yeah, Raven was a lot of things but even she wouldn't be mocking Copperhead for acting like Doctor Light in this situation.

'Though he should be seeing shrink like the Doctor does when he is in prison.' She thought to herself.

Major Glory sighed and stepped forward, deciding to take charge. "Okay, obviously our original escape plans are shot. We were counting on using either Van Kleiss' portal or Scotty's own portal abilities to get us out of here before anything bad happened. Since both those ideas are not feasible, I propose a third and more risky plan."

"Which is?" Genki asked loudly enough for everyone to hear.

"Justice Friends, Plan D." Major Glory simply said.

"Figure it would be that." Valhallen sighed, hoisting his guitar over his shoulder.

"What's plan D?" Kazemon asked skeptically.

"D for diversion." Valhallen answered. "The major's proposing that us Justice Friends keep Sammael distracted long enough for everyone here to get out of the tower and far enough to safety."

"That's crazy." Agunimon cut in. "You'd be going up against an entire army of Grimm."

"And led by their masters, I know." Major Glory nodded. "Fortunately the Justice Friends are strong enough."

He looked around, looking each of his fellow heroes in the eye.

"You are all amazingly strong, even in this group of extraordinary people. Valhallen, Krunk, you two stood your ground against Yellow Diamond, one of the most powerful beings in the cosmos when you went on that mission to the Gem Homeworld. Living Bullet, E-Male, you are both the fastest men in the world. Each of us are powerful on our own but together we are a force even Sammael himself is wary of." Major Glory stated loudly. "We can hold him back long enough to give everyone else here a chance to escape."

"That's still suicide." Tiburon pointed out.

"Maybe but we have an advantage on our side." Major Glory replied with a smile.

"Which is?" Baron asked.

"We're in the middle of Nowhere with no chance of civilian casualties happening. Meaning…" Major Glory trailed off.

By this point, the rest of the Justice Friends were smiling as Valhallen finished for the major. "We don't have to hold back."

This caused everyone to stop and consider what the Viking God of Rock had just said.

The Justice Friends fighting without holding back?

Considered to be the mightiest heroes of Earth, the Justice Friends were believed to be without equal as they foiled crimes and Grimm attacks on a daily basis. Only the strongest and most powerful criminals and Grimm stood even remotely of a chance against them. Yet they lived by a code of never using their full strength, especially in a populated area filled with innocent civilians.

So, what would happen if they fought at full strength?

"First off, is everyone present?" Major Glory immediately asked. "For this plan to work, we need to make sure no one is going to be left behind here."

"That Spider guy!" Keannu called out. "He fell to the bottom with that goblin freak."

Xxx

When Spider-Man opened his eyes after falling for who knows how long he found himself in the middle of a hallway leading up to a giant door.

'Anyone get the number on the meteor that hit me?' The spider-themed hero thought to himself as he stood up. 'Last thing I remember is facing Goblin before he literally blew the floor out underneath me.'

"Hello, Spider."

Spide-Man spotted the Green Goblin standing at the large door. "Goblin!"

"Well, you asked to know where your beloved Mary Jane was." The Goblin grinned and gestured to the door. "Look no further."

Spider-Man looked at the door and back at Goblin. "She's in there? What did you do to her?"

"Me, nothing?" Goblin gestured to himself with a look of faux shock on his face that was then replaced with a grin. "But Van Kleiss…"

"Talk!" Spider-Man barked, getting ready to attack.

"You see, Van Kleiss was very interested in something else from our universe. You probably know them." The Goblin snickered. "I'll give you a hint. One used to be a part of you and the other broke off from it are you managed to break it apart from you."

'Break it apart from me and then break…' Spider-Man's eyes widened. "Oh no. You didn't…"

"I didn't but Van Kleiss did!" The Goblin cackled as he pressed down on the wall computer. "A sample from none other than Spider-Carnage himself! The man actually found a way to synthesize symbiotes and he needed a human guinea pig."

The door opened, letting loose a steamy mist as the Goblin cackled once more. The mist cleared as a dark red figure emerged from the dark chamber.

"No…" Spider-Man was paling under his suit.

Standing before was humanoid symbiote with a feminine shape and had a red angry color and even had red hair reaching down its shoulder.

"Mary Jane…" Spider-Man whispered softly, horrified to see what had happened to her.

"We know you, Spider-Man. Or should we say, Peter Park?" The symbiote spoke in a dual voice with one half sounding like Venom or Carnage while the other half was the voice of Mary Jane. "We are no longer Mary Jane Watson. We are Scarlet and we will the END OF YOU!"

The symbiote let out a screech and let out a red web string hit Spider-Man in the chest and he was pulled into the chamber. The Green Goblin let out a cackled as he walked in and the doors closed behind him, making sure no one would come to Spider-Man's rescue.

Not even if the fortress was about to be destroyed.

Xxx

"Then we need get him out too along with any stragglers working for Van Kleiss or his allies still in the fortress." Major Glory looked to Living Bullet. "This will be up to you."

Living Bullet nodded, immediately giving a thumbs-up.

"Once the shield drops, Bullet will get everyone out in time. Scotty, when you are clear you know what to do." The major looked to the Scotsman who nodded. "This can work but you have to trust on just me but everyone here."

He looked to Shade and Copperhead. "Even you two."

The two just stared back in silent surprise.

"If we work together, nothing will stop us." Major Glory smiled. "…Nothing."

"Give the Glory." Valhallen smirked.

Major Glory nodded. "Justice Friends…"

Xxx

The Volcano Toad Grimm continued their barrage on Van Kleiss' fortress as Sammael hovered back down in front of his army where his main cohorts were waiting.

"It seems they are hoping for a last-minute rescue." General Skarr said once Sammael had landed. "It seems Van Kleiss was trickier than even we had thought."

"And it's only a matter of time before the major and his friends engage in a last-minute act of desperation to save everyone in the fortress." Sammael replied as he stepped past Skarr. "Frankly I'm disappointed how predictable they have become. His Uncle Sam would have stood his ground no matter what."

There was blast of light and the Fallen along with their allies and Grimm watched as the shield around Van Kleiss fortress collapsed, leaving it open to attack.

Xxx

Everyone braced themselves as the first blast hit the tower, hitting the Ion Cannons, and setting off a chain reaction. Living Bullet knelt down, acting as if he was ready to run a marathon as everyone and everything around suddenly slowed to a slow-moving crawl.

(Sweet Dreams(Are Made of This) by Eurythmics Starts)

He saw the huge ball of fire coming from where the power core in the middle of the room used to be. As Living Bullet was staring at the ball of fire coming at him in slow motion, he saw small pieces of shrapnel headed towards him.

I travel the world

Living Bullet glanced at the slow-moving shrapnel as he pushed two pieces out of the way and flicked the third one away.

And the seven seas,

After standing there for another millisecond, he cracked his knuckles as he turned around, grabbed the nearest person who happened to be the boy named Ikki and his robot called Metabee who were frozen compared to Living Bullet, grabbed them and dashed them away to safety….

Everybody's looking for something

(See GrimmFall: Intertwined Legacies by Zaft-Convoy)

…About a few miles away to a sandy field and far away from the tower but in the middle of the Nowhere Mountains.

Some of them want to use you

But Living Bullet didn't stop as he dashed back and started picking up his frozen friends and allies and took them away to safety as the slow motion explosion was moving closer and closer.

Some of them want to get used by you

First his fellow Justice Friends, one by one but leaving them close enough to the tower where they would be able to react in time and be ready to fight.

Some of them want to abuse you

Within Living Bullet's own time in super speed, he already saved 90% of his allies that were in the battle.

Some of them want to be abused.

But as she dashed back and saved the rest, he dashed back one more time to look at some of Van Kleiss' allies such as left over Rebellion, Tetsu Kira and Red Cap forces who had faces of surprise and fear as they saw the giant wave of fire head towards them.

Sweet dreams are made of this

Living Bullet stood there and thought about it for a second, but he just couldn't let them die in a fiery inferno. He was a hero and saving lives, even criminals were what heroes did.

Who am I to disagree?

He dashed over and saved all the thugs.

I travel the world

Next were Shade, Copperhead, Biowulf and Skalamander.

And the seven seas

Dashing around the fortress, he found a woman in a red and black cybernetic suit, seemingly on the hunt for someone or something.

Everybody's looking for something

He quickly placed her arms behind her back and then cuffed her before taking her outside with the others.

Hold your head up

Living Bullet dashed all over the entire tower as he saved all the guards, carrying them out and then returned and saved the rest.

Keep your head up, movin' on

As he cleared out one room, he looked over and saw a shattered fish tank with the water and fish trapped in time.

Hold your head up, movin' on

Living Bullet dashed over to the water in mid-air, as he got a glass and scooped up all the fish that were in the water, placed the glass in the hands of a guard he then saved too.

Keep your head up, movin' on

Living Bullet then dashed into a bathroom and looked around for guards, only to see one in front of a mirror combing his hair.

Living Bullet smirked as he threw the comb out of his hands, flipped his helmet back, licked his hands, and messed up the guard's hair before grabbing him and dashed back out.

As he returned down the halls, he stopped and looked over at a female guard standing there and a male guard standing there, as the male guard had his tongue out and leaning towards the female guard as if he had no idea how to kiss.

Some of them want to use you

Living Bullet scrunched his face in awkwardness and disgust as he grabbed both the guards and dashed out.

Some of them want to get used by you

Bullet shot around again and made sure to check the lower levels, coming upon the Bagge family and their dog.

Some of them want to abuse you

Living Bullet grabbed them one by one and took them out of the fortress, leaving them with the heroes and Huntsmen for their safety.

Some of them want to be abused

As Living Bullet dashed back down the halls of the tower, he stopped at the same lab where Artemis, Superboy and Miss Martian found the evil cloned doppelganger of the half Kryptonian.

Sweet dreams are made of this

He ran into the lab and dashed around the lab as fast as he could, picking up any piece of equipment that looked like it might help in whatever they would need after this.

Who am I to disagree?

After he was done with that, he dashed back up to the main room where the explosion originated from. As she ran in, she saw that 90% of the room was covered in the slow moving fiery explosion.

I travel the world

The explosion spread rapidly as it covered almost everywhere in the entire upper half of the building. Living Bullet shot through one hole in the wall while many stories above the ground as he flew away to safety, along with two guards held under his arms.

And the seven seas

As the rest of the tower started to blow up completely, with Living Bullet landing on the ground and dashing away to the sandy field where he left all his team mates.

Everybody's looking for something

However one was still missing…

Sweet dreams are made of this

Living Bullet shot back into the tower, looking top to bottom for Spider-Man.

Who am I to disagree?

The explosion covered the top of the tower but Bullet had made extra sure to double, no triple check every corner of the top floors before making his way down.

Living Bullet was starting to become a little worried that he had yet to find Spider-Man, even as he checked nearly every inch of the fortress.

And the seven seas

He stopped and came upon a giant hangar where there was a giant space ship taking off.

Wait, giant space ship?

Everybody's looking for something

Living Bullet jumped up and looked through the windows, seeing the villains that had run off were all aboard. Bullet debated taking them in but to be honest he had no time for that. Looking for Spider-Man was the priority and while these villains might escape they just weren't a priority compared to the army of Grimm outside.

Sweet dreams are made of this

Bullet reluctantly allowed the villains to escape as he shot off the ship and looked around the hangar for Spider-Man, finding no sign of the web-themed hero either.

Who am I to disagree?

It was getting frustrating now as Bullet combed all over the sub-basements, looking everywhere except behind the giant door.

I travel the world

Wait, giant door?

And the seven seas

Living Bullet stopped in front of a pair of giant doors that were heavily locked and had a better security system with an electrical field running along the surface, likely meant to repel anyone who tried to force their way in.

Everybody's looking for something

Living Bullet sighed, knowing he was out of time as the ground was rumbling now and knew he had to meet with the others. 'I hope you're safe behind these doors, Spider-Man. If I survive this fight, I'll be back.'

Reluctantly, Living Bullet shot away to join the other Justice Friends.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Sammael had his back turned as the top of Van Kleiss' fortress exploded. It was still standing but now heavily damaged.

"It seems they made their choice." Sammael closed his eyes and sighed. "Secure the area. We'll proceed to the next phase."

"ASSEMBLE!"

Sammael's eyes shot open and he spun around, looking up into the sky. Above the explosion that engulfed the tower, the Justice Friends were all flying/falling towards the Grimm army.

Major Glory

Valhallen

Infraggable Krunk

White Tiger

Living Bullet

Capital G

Tiki-Torch

And SAM-R-I.

Valhallen played a string on his Mighty Axe and the dark clouds flashing with lightning briefly and then shot down towards the Grimm army. The jellyfish Grimm hovering in the dark clouds conjured bolts of lightning that cancelled out Valhallen's lightning attack. The Justice Friends landed on the ground several yards away from the Grimm army, all of them fixing the Fallen and their allies with dark glares.

Sammael stepped forward, watching the heroes standing before him and his army with a stoic gaze…That then turned into a smile.

"So, little boy glory is braver than I remember." The King of the Fallen remarked at Major Glory who said nothing but narrowed his eyes. "Is this your plan? Stall me and my army long enough to give the others a chance to escape? You have to realize even with your powers you cannot defeat all of us. Eventually our greater numbers and our own powers will wear you down and we'll walk over your bones right to the Gem of Heart."

"That will not happen." Major Glory declared, taking a step forward.

"Oh?" Sammael raised an eyebrow. "You speak with such confidence but you sent almost everyone but your fellow heroes away."

The Justice Friends remained silent, glaring at Sammael as he spoke.

"If you were all together, you would have stood a much better chance against us. Such a small group, no matter how powerful you might be will not be able to hold us back for very long." Sammael continued. "And it doesn't matter how far you moved those allies of yours away from us. The mountains of Nowhere are completely surrounded and not even Living Bullet would have been able to sneak past my army. Keep them with you to fight longer or send them away to buy them a few more second, in the end the results will be the same."

"Those people…The ones you had taken from their worlds…" Major Glory clenched a fist.

"Hm?" Sammael's smile was replaced by a frown.

"You took them, those children from their worlds and forced them to fight in this insane war." Major Glory growled. "It was depraved enough of you for all the crimes you commit on this world. You had to involve so many other worlds in this."

Sammael's smile returned as he chuckled. "You must mean the children disguising themselves as the so-called 'Legendary Warriors.' How it must have nearly stopped your heart to see that those warrior forms were mere facades for children. Then again, I supposed it also warmed you to be looking after them and helping them grow…Just like your uncle did for you."

Major Glory stiffened while Valhallen held up his Mighty Axe. "You best watch what you say, you demon."

"Valhallen, have you kept in contact with Asgard lately? You had to know what Odin is planning with the reincarnation of Thor…and his actions regarding Baldur." Sammael's eyes landed on the Viking God of Rock. "So determined to survive he would damn his own sons to an eternity of suffering. And you call me the demon? Besides, you as well as I know that Major Glory's time as a hero is ending."

He looked back at the major. "You took an apprentice and gave them power of the Spirit of America."

Major Glory remained still.

"You know you couldn't have the Spirit's split between you and your apprentice so you must have given her all the power by now. Meaning your living on borrowed time as a hero." Sammael remarked. "Is this what you imagined doing at the end of your days? Giving your powers up and letting the youth fight on while you die heroically and in a manner that befits an American hero? Your uncle would perhaps be most proud of you for that."

Surprisingly, instead of reacting in anger Major Glory's mouth curled up into a smile. "If there is one thing, I am glad about today, it's that you truly underestimated me, Sammael."

Sammael raised an eyebrow and frowned. "Oh?"

"I don't blame you for not knowing this as I made sure this a secret my whole life." Major Glory brought a hand to his chest. "Tell me, did you ever wonder why my uncle chose me as his successor?"

Sammael was silent for a moment before he answered. "And what would that matter?"

"Back then, it was the opinion of his peers that Uncle Sam chose me because of our relation…But there is something else to it." Major Glory lowered his hand. "It was because of my Semblance."

Sammael narrowed his eyes. "Semblance? I don't recall you ever having one."

"That's because it was kept secret under my uncle's instructions." Major Glory chuckled. "And because I couldn't use it until I perfectly mastered all my powers and made sure I could use once I had handed the power of the American Spirit over to my student."

"And what would be so special about this Semblance?" Sammael asked, remaining on guard.

"It would be considered special because it can grant me Unlimited Energy." Major Glory answered proudly and loud enough for everyone to hear.

Sammael's eyes widened in surprise. 'Unlimited Energy?'

That was when it happened.

A bright white Aura exploded from Major Glory's body, actually pushing back his fellow Justice Friends and even pushing back the front of the Grimm army.

"No way!" Sypher covered his face as a literal dust cloud blew past him and his teammates.

Gentle-Jim raised his cape up to cover his face. "So this is the power of the world's greatest hero."

Valhallen was smiling even as he covered his face with his guitar. "About time you stopped holding back, glory boy!"

"Flag Man strong!" Krunk exclaimed in surprise.

Sammael, for the first time in a long time was surprised by what he was seeing, even though he managed to remain perfectly still through the wind that was created by the major releasing his true power. 'A Semblance that provides unlimited energy combined with a former host of the American Spirit…He managed to hide this from me for so long?'

Sammael had made a point to keep an eye on all potential threats as he moved forward with his plans. He had been sure that even if Major Glory would be formidable, he could still be removed like any other obstacle.

He knew that the American Spirit was created to defend the people of America and then the world but there was another goal.

'They wanted to create a hero powerful enough to rival and defeat me.' Sammael narrowed his eyes. 'The heroes of the previous generations amassed a great deal of power but none of them, not even Sam was able to become that hero, no matter how strong he was at the end. But if Glory's Semblance does grant him unlimited energy…Then even if he is no longer connected to the American Spirit, he doesn't need it anymore!'

For the Semblance of Unlimited Energy would easily allow him to replenish all of the powers he had gained from the spirit.

Major Glory let a battle cry as the white Aura surrounded him like a dome.

'He has been waiting for this, perhaps since the day he fully took on the spirit's power.' Sammael narrowed his eyes…and then grinned. 'It seems I underestimated you, Major Glory and a great deal this time. If this becomes as serious as I believe it will, I might end up having to use everything I have to not just get past you…but to make sure the Gem of Heart is retrieved.'

Major Glory let one final battle cry as his Aura exploded again…

BOOM!

And then he shot forward with such speed the ground split open.

Sammael's eyes widened, sensing extreme danger as Major Glory appeared in front of him with his fist reared back. Gritting his teeth, Sammael dodged to the side just in time and the punch released shockwave that collided with over a dozen Grimm that had been behind Sammael. The shockwave blasted through them and caused the front lines of the Grimm army to be sent flying in all directions. Sammael's eyes glowed as he prepared to blast the major at close range…

Only to feel a great amount of pain in his abdomen.

Major Glory had moved with such speed he had reappeared in front of Sammael and delivered a heavy blow that took the Fallen King by complete surprise.

And then came the shockwave that sent him flying up into the air like a rocket.

And with that, Major Glory shot up towards his enemy, flaring with power.

The battle between the Fallen and the Justice Friends had begun.
