It was June 8th, 1991, and the Potter twins and their Jedi Master were inside a London apartment. Silandra wore a dark robe with her hair pulled back in a tight bun while Satele had her hands tucked into the pockets of her light gray slacks. Harry Potter squirmed in his chair, fidgeting with the lightning bolt scar on his forehead while Iris Potter traced the jagged lines of her scarred palm.
Silandra stepped forward and addressed them both. "Remember when we leave, blend in as best you can, but don't call us master instead call us by our real names – Silandra and Satele. We don't want to attract too much attention."
Satele nodded in agreement. "This is also a lesson on blending in. If you can't fit into your environment then you won't be able to hide if necessary."
Harry looked up at them questioningly. "But if we can shapeshift pretty much at will, wouldn't that help us blend in?"
"Yes it would," Satele replied, "but for now I want you both to take the form of identical twins – without showing off your distinctive scars."
Silandra smiled reassuringly. "What form you choose is entirely up to you."
The twins hurried up the stairs, their shoes clattering on the hardwood floor. The two Jedi Masters watched them go with growing concern.
"I really hope we didn't make a mistake," Silandra said.
Satele nodded solemnly. "Regardless of if we did, this is a perfect test to see if they have full control of their ability to change their form."
Back in Iris' room, she rubbed her hands together and smiled wickedly. "So identical twins, without our scars," she said, "this is going to be fun."
Harry looked at her skeptically. "What are you planning Iri?"
Iris grinned, her eyes twinkling mischievously. "Haza, my lovely brother! Follow my lead and I'll pay you 1000 credits."
"Where did you get that money Iri?" Harry asked suspiciously.
"Haza, unlike you," Iris replied with exaggerated patience, "I don't spend my check...like ever."
Harry shook his head. "No... absolutely not."
But Iris had a counteroffer ready. "What if I pay you 3000 credits?" she said sweetly.
Harry's brows rose in interest. "3000 credits plus three favors," he said quickly, holding out his palm for a handshake. "Credits must be paid upfront."
Iris grasped his hand firmly in agreement. She pulled out a holopad and sent Harry 3000 credits from her bank account to his instantly. After a full minute, Harry got a notification saying he'd received the money.
"Pleasure doing business with you Haza," Iris said cheerfully.
"Also," Harry added sternly, "I'm not wearing a dress or skirt."
Iris waved away his objection dismissively. "Don't worry! Just wear whatever is in your closet—make sure we match!"
Harry stared at her dubiously for a moment, before finally relenting with an exasperated sigh. "Okay, so what's your plan?"
Iris grinned triumphantly and exclaimed excitedly, "We shift to look like 11-year-old versions of our mother!"
Harry raised an eyebrow but nodded resolutely in agreement. "Simple enough."
A few minutes later in the living room, the two Jedi Masters stood silently as they awaited their Padawans.
Silandra Camoran glanced over at Satele Shan, her eyes questioning. "Do you think we should tell them they're only going to explore this planet's wildlife?"
Satele Shan shook her head and smiled. "No need. These two are good kids, always joking around and with a book in hand. I'm willing to bet they'll come out looking like a younger version of their mother."
Silandra Camoran raised an eyebrow. "Why do you say that?"
"The last time we asked them to use their ability to look like twins," Satele explained, "they came out looking like a younger clone of their father."
Silandra nodded knowingly. "I bet Iris paid Harry quite a sum to follow along."
Right on cue, Iris and Harry arrived in the living room, both transformed into 11-year-old versions of Lily Potter - wearing matching pants and shirts.
Satele Shan grinned at them approvingly. "Well done! You both did well. Now, let's go - remember to use all your abilities to your absolute advantage!"
The Dursley family was in the reptile house at the London Zoo, looking at a magnificent Boa constrictor. Harry, Satele, and Silandra marvelled in awe at its beauty and grace while Iris walked towards the Snake enclosure to get a closer look.
Iris looked toward the family currently by the enclosure with intense disgust and disdain as she heard Dudley yell out "Make it move!" Vernon nervously tapped on the glass of the cage trying to stir up the snake. Dudley became increasingly frustrated as he started tapping on the glass much harder.
"MOVE!", he shouted out as his voice reverberated off of the walls of the reptile house.
Iris, her usually composed demeanour shattered into pieces, had a look on her face that could easily be described both as annoyed and appalled. She quickly jumped in between them, blocking their view of the snake. "He's asleep!", she said sternly as her eyes pierced each one of them like daggers.
Dudley rolled his eyes and let out a bored sigh. He started walking away from Iris, dragging his feet along the ground as he followed his parents to the next enclosure. She watched them, their figures gradually fading into the distance. The only thing left was her standing there alone with the snake.
Iris slowly walked towards the glass enclosure, gazing at the Burmese python coiled in its corner. She moved her hand against the smooth surface and spoke softly. "Sorry about him. He doesn't understand what it's like lying there day after day, having people press their ugly faces in on you. I don't understand either-in my opinion animals need to be free, not in cages."
The snake lifted its head and blinked. Iris smiled nervously, tilting her head and leaning closer to the glass. "Can you...hear me?"
The python shook its head slightly, and Iris continued in a gentle voice. "It's just...I've never talked to a snake before. Do you...I mean...do you talk to people often?"
The snake shook its head again before turning its gaze toward a sign posting the words 'Bred In Captivity.' Suddenly she felt a kind of kinship with this creature-the same kind of kinship she had with Silandra and the others in her makeshift family called the Jedi Order. "I see," she said sadly. "I never knew my parents either, but Silandra and the others are like my family - I have Haza at least."
Just then Dudley came over to the enclosure, his gaze focused on the now-awake snake. Without warning he delivered a sudden blow which sent Iris crashing into the floor with a loud crunch and sickening sensation as her humerus was broken and jutted out through her skin.
As screams of alarm and horror echoed around the reptile house, Harry and a police officer rushed in. Harry's face was filled with worry as he ran towards Iris, who lay on the floor in pain. He quickly examined her arm and determined that it was broken.
The police officer spoke into his radio: "I need an ambulance to the London Zoo. Code 3." Then he turned to Harry and asked, "Is this your sister?"
Harry nodded, unable to speak due to his overwhelming emotions.
The officer then looked at Dudley and asked sternly, "And you are responsible for this?"
Dudley said nothing but remained still as the officer handcuffed him while Petunia screamed in shock and horror. She ran over to Dudley and grabbed hold of him, begging the officer not to take him away.
"My darling boy! Dudley, oh Dudley! What are you doing? My Dudley is an angel!"
The police officer shook his head and explained that what Dudley had done was illegal and that he had no choice but to take him away for questioning.
Harry turned to Iris who was now lying on the floor still clutching her arm in pain. Tears streamed down his cheeks as he knelt beside her and gently placed a hand on her shoulder reassuringly. "It'll be alright," he murmured softly into her ear before turning around to find help for his beloved sister.
The police officer stood in front of the Dursleys with a stern expression, his hands on his hips. "Ma'am," he said to Mrs. Dursley, "your son just broke someone else's bone. That is a serious crime and he will go to jail. Not only that I saw it, but the cameras saw it too."
Vernon Dursley arrived a few seconds later, eyes wide with panic. He pushed past the police officer and knelt down next to Harry, who had his arms around a sobbing Iris. Her right arm was bent in an unnatural angle and blood oozed from a small crack near her wrist. Vernon choked back a sob and met the police officer's gaze defiantly. "What are you doing to my boy? He is a well-behaved child and would never hurt a single fly!"
The police officer pointed at Iris, tears streaming down her face. "See that girl on the ground? Your son did that."
Iris hiccuped through her tears. "Hazza, it hurts a lot..."
Vernon pleaded with the officer, desperation lacing his words. "He is too young to go to jail!"
The cop arched an eyebrow at Vernon before replying coldly, "He is older than ten, right?" Vernon nodded slowly. "Then he is going to jail."
Petunia's eyes widened with recognition when she saw Iris and Harry. She sneered, her top lip curling in disdain, "That girl is nothing but a Freak and deserves everything that happens to her."
Just then Silandra and Satele entered the scene, Silandra quickly interjected, "I would appreciate it if you did not verbally assault my charge. Officer," she turned to the lawman present, "if you are going to ask, I will like to press charges against the boy. Since the adults in his life are not teaching him proper manners, it's up to the government."
A fleet of sirens screamed as an ambulance pulled up, and a line of police cars followed behind it. Two paramedics rushed out of the ambulance carrying a stretcher and medical equipment. They knelt beside Iris, taking her pulse and checking her eyes for signs of consciousness. The officers handcuffed Dudley and pulled him away from the scene as the paramedics continued to work on Iris.
At that moment, the chaotic scene at the London Zoo came to a halt as the authorities took control. The paramedics carefully lifted Iris onto the stretcher, immobilizing her broken arm to prevent further injury. Silandra and Satele stood nearby, their expressions a mix of concern.
Harry stood up, his face still stained with tears, and approached the paramedics. "Please take care of her," he pleaded, his voice trembling. "She's my sister, and she means everything to me."
The paramedics nodded with sympathy and reassured Harry that they would do their best to provide the necessary medical attention. They gently placed Iris on the stretcher and wheeled her toward the waiting ambulance, Harry walking alongside them.
As they loaded Iris into the ambulance, Silandra and Satele exchanged a brief conversation with the police officer, providing their contact information and expressing their intent to press charges against Dudley for his assault on Iris. The officer assured them that they would be contacted for further statements and proceedings.
Meanwhile, the crowd that had gathered around the reptile house watched in shock and disbelief at the unfolding events. Some murmured in concern for Iris's well-being, while others whispered about Dudley's violent behaviour.
Petunia, still in a state of denial and blinded by her biases, stood off to the side, unable to comprehend the gravity of the situation. Silandra approached her, her voice firm but composed. "Mrs. Dursley, your son's actions were unacceptable. It is important to understand the consequences of his behaviour. This incident cannot be ignored."
Petunia recoiled slightly from Silandra's words, her face contorting with a mix of anger and defensiveness. "You have no right to lecture me or my family," she spat out. "We've had enough of your meddling in our affairs."
Silandra remained calm, her Jedi training helping her maintain composure. "I assure you, Mrs. Dursley, we are not here to meddle. We simply want justice for the harm caused to Iris. It is our duty to protect and advocate for those under our care."
Satele stepped forward, her voice steady yet empathetic. "We understand that this may be difficult for you to process, but we hope you will come to realize the seriousness of the situation. We want what's best for Iris and for everyone involved."
Petunia's hostility wavered for a moment, as she saw the sincerity in Silandra and Satele's eyes. However, her ingrained prejudices and fears quickly resurfaced, and she turned away, refusing to engage any further.
With the paramedics and Iris now on their way to the hospital, the police officers began wrapping up their investigation. They collected witness statements and reviewed the CCTV footage, ensuring they had all the necessary evidence to proceed with the case against Dudley.
Silandra and Satele, now accompanied by Harry, made their way to the police officers, ready to provide their own statements. They described the events leading up to the assault, emphasizing the unprovoked nature of Dudley's attack on Iris. They stressed the importance of holding Dudley accountable for his actions to prevent further harm.
The police officers listened attentively, documenting their statements and assuring them that they would pursue the case with due diligence. They thanked Silandra, Satele, and Harry for their cooperation and informed them that they would be kept informed about the investigation and legal proceedings.
As the commotion at the London Zoo settled down, the repercussions of Dudley's violent act rippled through the lives of those involved. Iris, injured but resilient, would face a difficult road to recovery. The Dursleys, forced to confront the consequences of their son's actions, would grapple with their own shortcomings and prejudices.
The day is now July 31, 1991, and thunder roared outside and the door thumped, shaking the whole apartment. Harry and Iris jumped in surprise and let out a gasp.
"Silandra, call the police," Satele commanded in a measured voice, her hand already clenching her lightsaber at her waist as if it had become a natural extension of her body. "Kids, stay behind me and do not act like Jedi Padawans but like normal kids."
The door shook again, and then with an almighty bang, it fell down, revealing a giant of a man. The light from the room illuminated him, and as he stepped forward into the clear lighting, his face and figure were revealed. It was Rubeus Hagrid, the half-giant Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts.
Hagrid stood up and sighed, straining to put the door back in place. Satele stepped forward, her voice steel-edged. "Sir, I must ask you to leave immediately or else I will file charges against you for breaking and entering." Hagrid squinted at her, recognition slowly dawning. "Dry up now, kidnapper! It has been so long since I last saw my old friends Harry and Iris here. But they're quite a bit older than I thought they'd be."
He nodded towards the children behind Satele. She squared her shoulders and narrowed her eyes. "Leave them alone or I'll be forced to take action."
Satele watches Hagrid walk toward the twins. Her right arm is covered in flashing blue cicatrix scars from her early training with Master Vikio, and she grips the hilt of an ancient lightsaber tightly. The single beam of light glints off its diamond-cut blade and for a brief moment, blinded by its beauty, she forgets to use it. Satele opens herself up to the force and lets her feelings guide her hand. A golden lightning bolt bursts from her open palm, spreading outwards like a tree growing through the stone. Striking the huge man squarely in the back, sparks fly wildly from his body as he writhes on the floor.
Aurors burst onto the scene, sweeping past the shattered remnants of a door. Madam Bones, Director of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, approached a woman who stood protectively in front of two small children.
"My name is Madam Amelia Bones I am the director of the DMLE" Madam Bones demanded "Can I ask what the hell happened here?"
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Madam Bones," Satele responded calmly. "I am Satele Shan, legal Guardian of Harry and Iris Potter with the paperwork to prove it. We were getting ready to head out to eat dinner when this giant broke down our door."
Satele gestured towards the hulking figure on the floor, then continued. "When I confronted him politely, he insulted me. I noticed the children were getting scared as he was walking towards them. I didn't know if he was a Sexual Predator who preys on children or a slaver, so to protect them, I used a Lightning-based Spell to knock him out."
Madam Bones gasped, her deep blue eyes widening in surprise. "Harry and Iris Potter, you said?", she asked incredulously.
Satele nodded solemnly. "Yes. I was given custody after the Dursleys signed away their rights." She pointed to Silandra. "Get me those court documents, would you?"
Madam Bones shifted slightly in her chair. "I was just about to ask," she murmured softly, almost to herself. Her voice grew a bit louder as she asked, "Is it possible I can see the children? James-their father-was my younger brother..."
Her words trailed off as realization dawned on her. "Wait... Dursley signed away their rights? They weren't supposed to be near Lily's sister!"
Silandra scurried back into the room, arms full of rolled-up parchment papers, which Madam Bones spread out on the desk. Her face was stern, eyebrows knitting as she examined each page.
"Let me see if I understand correctly," she began slowly.
"You legally adopted these children, but the muggle court failed to communicate it properly. It's a mistake we make far too often." Madam Bones folded her hands together and sighed. "Hagrid will be punished for breaking and entering, but your name is cleared."
Satele smiled in relief. "Thank you for being honest with me. And... may I invite you to come meet them tomorrow?"
Madam Bones nodded resolutely. "I'm getting supplies for Susan at Diagon Alley anyway - why don't we go together?"
Satele grinned, feeling relieved and grateful. "I'd love to!
