At CTU everyone is preparing for the homicide bombers. Mason has even told the local radio station about Adam being held here, just to make certain his daughter knows where he is. Ryan Chapelle is still in a holding room, and hears all the commotion. If Eve and Georgia succeed, Chapelle will die as well. All his scheming for money and power, even selling out his co conspirators to avoid the death penalty, was about to be for nothing. This news also reaches Adam, who is now being treated by a doctor in CTU Medical. Adam laughs, these doctor's efforts will be for nothing. Soon, he and his daughter will be in Paradise.

At the bunker president Keaton talks with speaker Templeton.

.

Templeton: Good work mr president. It's nice to have a president with balls again.

Keaton: Most of what I've accomplished was just continuing president Allen's work. The rest I owe to our soldiers and CTU.

Templeton: Still, I can't help but think that Allen wouldn't have what it takes to do what needs to be done for the good of the country.

Keaton: You might be right about that. For example, CTU showed me all they got from Gaines' chip. Apparently this conspiracy planned to blackmail you.

Templeton: Perhaps they were planning to, but our law enforcement arrested them before they could. I can't think of what they could backmail me with.

Keaton: You might be telling the truth that they hadn't gotten around to blackmailing you yet. But I find it hard to believe that you don't remember this.

.

Keaton then played a little of the tape that Carl Web showed him earlier. The part where he called segregation "the word of God." Templeton begged Keaton to stop playing it.

.

Templeton: Please, I was young, I needed their support.

Keaton: I doubt that you're a hardcore racist now, but you were willing to kiss up to them for help. Hell, I doubt George Wallace was a hardcore racist, he also sucked up to evil. And today you have no problem kissing up to those who want to ban muslims from coming to America, or those who have no problem locking infants in cages. In any event, you have proven yourself unworthy to be a heartbeat away from this office.

Templeton: Except that I was elected to the House of Representatives in a fair election. And the democratically elected legislature voted to make me third in the line of succession.

Keaton: True, but I doubt that the voters in your district will appreciate that you solicited support from the KKK, even if it was decades ago.

Templeton: I see. But if I were to resign...

Keaton: Nobody much cares what a retired politician used to do. Either way ofcourse the choice is entirely up to you.

Templeton: That's fair mr president.

.

Templeton went to his temporary office in the bunker, and began writing his statement announcing his resignation from the House of Representatives.
