Reaper Pov
"I thought you were going to the tower Reaper" Petra Venj states as she sees me walk on the ship ramp. I just growl at here as I make my way down the ramp. "Well, if it makes you feel any better, we found the Trickster." I smile as I hear this news, I really want to get her back for what she did to me. "Hey Reaper, where is everyone else at?"
"At the tower" I snap back as I wave the rest of the answer away.
"Okay then" she response before going on. "Well like I was saying we found the Trickster nearby. Spider wanted me to tell you that she is in a factory of some sort. I can give your ghost the location also." I just nod my head at that as I wait for Xaxa to appear.
Thankfully the ghost just appears and does not give me any grief. I had to listen the whole trip back to the Tangled Shore about how I left him. Or how I shot out the com unit on then ship so no one can try and talk to me. I have the feeling that he has a message for me but is not playing it. Which is fine by me I don't really care what people have to say right now.
Well, I might care what Nico has to say because she is my team leader. She is also my girlfriend/ lover, but I don't think she has realized that yet. A small grin crosses my lips at that as I walk away from Petra thinking how her head will explode when it finally clicks. I wipe the grin off my face as I jump on my sparrow and head in the direction of the Trickster.
'Do you want anything different for your abilities' Xaxa askes as we speed down the path to the Trickster.
"No leave it all on Solar." I growl as I speed by a couple Dregs trying to block my path. I don't hear anything back as I continue the path. As I speed down the path, I try to keep an eye on everything around me. That way I don't get surprised again by something the Trickster has set up. I'm still a little upset that the Trickster mange to get one up on me. An explosion brings me out of my thoughts as I slam on the brakes of the sparrow.
'Reaper' whispers into my mind. 'That explosion was not normal. It sounded like a bunch of ammo just went off.'
"I must agree with you." I mutter as I step off the sparrow. "Can you keep a scan going without showing yourself."
'It will be hard to do.' Xaxa sighs back. 'It's hard to tell what a trap is and what is not. I mean I basically can't tell until it's too late.'
"That fine we will do it my way then." I growl back as I walk towards the explosion. As I move, I bring my hand cannon up in my right hand and a throwing knife in my left. I hear a noise coming from around the corner. I quickly poke my head around the corner and toss my knife. I hear a loud thump of a body hitting the ground.
'Well then that was a lucky throw' Xaxa laughs in my head.
"Shut up." I growl as I walk around the corner with my gun up. "Shall we see who home?"
'Oh God.' I hear him sigh.
I don't have time to respond as more Scorn appear out of smoke. I quickly fire off a shot causing one of them to explode and take others with it. That cuts the number down by half which makes my life easier. I quickly fire off a couple rounds taking down the few near me before shaded stepping around the corner to get something between us.
I dodge again as one of the burning flails comes into view. I fire off a shot once I can bring my gun up aim at the Flail head. Only to regret shotting it when it explodes knocking the wind out of me as it throws me across the ground. I shake my head to try and clear it only to get thrown by another explosion. This one throwing me straight up into the air.
'Reaper, I can't heal you so I'm going to let you die' I hear Xaxa in my head. I can only growl as blood leave my body. 'I will bring you back where we left the sparrow and.' I don't hear the rest as the darkness takes me from the world of the living.
Nico POV
'Nico I just go a message from Xaxa.' I hear in my head. I find it weird that my ghost is telling me this quietly. Everyone in the ship right now understand what is going to happen and what the plan is. Hell even after explaining to Nox two more times as she helps me fly.
"Nico let me take over so you can get some rest." I hear from behind me. I turn to see Xavier standing there with a worried look on his face.
"I'm fine" I start only to be cut off by Sam.
'Nico' Sam starts. 'Xaxa has reported that Reaper has died.' My whole-body freezes as the words settle in. I feel Xavier's hand on my shoulder as I lean forward. I can hear him and Nox talking as they both move to left me from my seat.
'Nico Reaper will be fine.' Sam continues but I can barely hear what she is saying. 'He will be respawning in a couple days, but we need to hurry if we are going to get there in time and help him.' I feel Xavier and Nox lay me down in a bed as Sam say one more thing out loud. "I'm going to knock her out until we arrive at the Tangle Shore."
I feel my eyes close as Sam put me into a deep sleep. The only problem is this sleep causes me to dream about Reaper. Dreams that I wish would not happen. No matter how hard I try I can't seem to save Reaper from death. The worst part of these it seems that Xaxa can't seem to bring him back to life no matter how hard the ghost tries to. Reaper is just permanently dead.
I always send Sam to help Xaxa try to bring Reaper back. It never helps it always fails no matter how much light they pour into his body. My healing rift that I put down fails to even close his wounds. Tears of pain trail down my cheeks as I watch him bleed out in front of me. Even with his ghost still being intact he is unable to come back.
'Nico' I hear in my mind. I know its Sam, but I see my ghost in front of me trying to Reaper. 'Nico you need to open your eyes.' My eye shot open and begin to scan the area around me.
"Relax Nico you are safe." Sam tells me as my ghost appears in front of me. "Reaper is also alive currently. Xaxa brought him back a little bit ago, we are currently over his location."
"Bring me to him now." I demand as I check my armor and look for my guns.
"I can't bring you to him right now." Sam answers back in a sad voice.
"Why" I growl.
"He is currently in a fire fight with some Scorn who work for the Trickster." Sam tells me all this does is make me more anger with him. I just glare at my ghost as I try and think of a way to get to him.
"I will take her with me." I hear from my side. I look in that direction only to see Nox standing there.
"What do you mean." Sam asks as she floats near her.
"We will take her with us when we go to Reaper." Her ghost tells us as they appear.
"How can you do that. He is in combat and that means we can't get close to." Sam begins as a look of question crosses my face.
"I can scan the Combat area and get us down there near him give or take 10 yards." Her ghost tells us as Nox steps forward.
"Go scan the area now and bring both of us down." Nox demands from her ghost as she draws her weapon her ghost disappears.
"Sam" I growl. A weapon appears on the bed next to me. I grab it as I move to stand next to Nox. "How can your ghost do that. When all other ghosts can't do it. Normally we must wait for the combat to be over or the guardian." I stop as try to get the last words out.
"First thing is my ghost is not the only one that can do this." Nox tells me as she raises a finger. "Second little miss warlock it's not my fault that Reaper has not shown you how to override that. Third if you have a problem with this you can take it and shove it up your ass."
"Fuck you" I growl to her last one as I think about the other two things she said. "What you mean your ghost is not the only one that can do that. Override your ghost the only one who can do that is the speaker and he die a while ago."
"There is one other ghost that can do what my ghost is going to do." She starts with a sigh as she checks her weapon. "Only two guardians have permission use their ghost like this. Reaper's ghost and my ghost can do this because we get sent on mission all the time that require us to save other fireteams."
"Must be nice to be able to" I cut in with a bit of jealousy.
"But downside of this is" she jumps back in. "Sometimes we get teleported in the path of a bullet or some other type of attack. So, we end up with a lot of scars and sometimes we end up."
"I have the location, Nox." Her ghost cuts in as they appear.
"Good lets go." She sighs as she walks closer and place her hand on my shoulder. "Hope you're ready for a fight."
I feel the affect as light warps around us. I start to raise my weapon hoping that I can shot whoever is shooting at me before they get me. Better yet I hope I can shoot at whatever is shooting at Reaper. Gun fire reaches my ears before my feet hit the ground. I kneel as the light begins to fade around us. I hear Nox begin to fire her gun. I set my cross hair on a figure nearby and pull the trigger taking its head off.
"It's about time Nox." I hear from nearby. "I thought I was going to have to bring him to life again." I look at where the voice is coming from. "Oh, Nico you're here to. This is not going to end well."
"Shut up Xaxa" I hear someone growl. Then I see a bright red and orange light from that direction. Six quick shots. I watch the explosions happen as the bullets from Reaper's golden gun hit 6 different Scorn. As the light fades around him I see his wrist flip as if throwing something at me. I barely hear a thud over the gun fire from behind me. I spin around with my gun leveled only to see a Scorn body lying on the ground.
"He did it" Nox growl as she continues to fire into the waves of scorn. "Your best bet is to just focus on what's behind us right now." I don't respond as I fire into the wave of scorn that have begun to appear from the smoke.
"So, this is what Reaper had to deal with when he got ambushed." I growl as I shot a scorn sniper in the head. "How the hell did you not die when this happened." Before I can go on, I see a purple light in the corner of my eye. I turn to see a purple light begins to engulf Reaper body.
"I fucking knew it was him that could use Void." I hear Nox snarl for behind me. "Well, I guess he has decided to get serious about this fight." I hear lighting erupted for next to me. I look to see that Nox is gone from behind me. I hear an arrow shot come from where Reaper was. I quickly turn to help him only to see him up in the air firing shots from his void bow.
'Nico' I hear in my head. 'Nico don't use your Super abilities. These two have it under control believe it or not.' I glance around to see that the voice is right. It seems that that Reaper has all the Scorn tethered with the Void energy that he shot. Nox seems to be using blade dance to kill all the Scorn trapped in the tether. It does not take long for the two of them to finish of the Scorn.
"Well then Reaper it's not normal to see you lose your cool like that." I hear Nox tell him as she walks closer. "Who would have thought that we would see the great Reaper use two different Supers."
"Nox" I barely hear as I stand to join them. "Why the fuck are you here. I don't remember calling in my favor." I heart stop hoping that she will not tell him the truth.
"Xaxa called for me when you first landed on the Shore." Nox tells when she stops walking and stands near him. "As for the favor let's just go with, I still own you one for the time being. I would say you saving me from a Cabel prison gives you more than one favor in my books."
My jaw drops at what I just heard. I know that a group went into a Cabel held prison a freed all the prisoners. It happened about half a year ago when I heard about the mission. I tried to get the Vanguard to let me go when I found out that Reaper got selected to go. Before I was able to talk to them about it or about how they talked to Reaper without telling me his fireteam leader. Reaper was already gone when I talked to the Vanguard about it. The only thing they told me was Reaper happened to be in the tower at the time.
"This is why I can't trust him in the tower." I sigh as I finish my walk to them. As much as I want to jump into Reapers arms right now I can't. Something is telling me that it will not go how I think it will.
"I don't need you here Nox." Reaper growls as he turns his head side to side. He seems to still be on edge about the ambushes that he has been caught in. "So why don't you take Nico and your useless ass back to the tower and sit there." This last part really pisses me off I open my mouth to yell at him only to stop.
"It's not your call Reaper." Nox hums back as if trying not to laugh. "I'm not on your fireteam, I'm on hers and she is the leader."
"Never took you as a follower Nox." He snarls back at her. "Last I remember you want to be more like me."
"REAPER" I yell at him but stop when Nox put her arm out.
"Reaper that enough." Nox growl back matching Reaper tone. "Why don't you tell us what really going."
'Nico, I have a message from Xaxa.' Sam tells me cutting off whatever else Nox was going to say. 'Nico you and Nox need to leave now. I understand that you are here to help him, but he is not going to listen. Let this one goes for now please. Honestly, we need him to break mentally. He is too worked up and his emotions are not breaking passed the wall. Frankly letting him work through it this way is the only way it will work. When he finally breaks which is going to happen, I will bring him right to you."
"Nox, we are leaving" I cut in before the message finishes. "We are going to return to the ship and stay in orbit. Reaper we will be there if you need us." I place my hand on Nox showing Sam that we need to leave.
"Whatever" I hear him growl as the light warps around us.
"Alright Nico." I hear as our feet to the deck in my ship. "What the hell was that all about. You wanted to rush do there and help but when he gets a little mouthy with us you run away."
"Give me a second" I growl. "Sam, you want to tell me what Xaxa was talking about."
"What did Reaper's ghost say." Nox questions with her hands on her hips.
"That something is wrong with Reaper" I tell her with a small glare.
"That nothing new from" Nox starts before I cut her off.
"Sam you better reach out to Xaxa" I growl at my ghost. "I want a better response to that message that was sent."
"I will try Nico" Sam answers.
"To answer your question, Nox." I turn to face the hunter. "Xaxa sent a message say that Reaper needs to work though this alone for the time being. More or less, Reaper is being destructive." Sam appears again as I say the last part. "From what I can gather Xaxa is trying to get that under control and the only thing helping with that is the killing that he is doing. Don't get me wrong I don't want him to die again. So, we will stay near by just in case we need to jump in to help him."
