5yrs. had gone by and I had gotten something in the mail saying that Throttle had been released from prison but can't go anywhere near me. I was scared that he's going to violate the restraining order that the judge put in place if he were to ever be released from prison.
I sat down on the sofa and stared at nothing in particular. Modo came in from the garage. He had been waxing his bike. He saw me sitting on the sofa and didn't like my demeanor.
He came over and sat down next to me. He saw the letter in my hand and took it from me. He read that Throttle had been released from prison. He now understood why I was the way I was right now.
Modo put his hand on my shoulder and lightly shook me to get my attention. I snapped out of it and looked at him.
"I read the letter. If he violates the restraining order, he goes back to prison. I will be going with you when you go grocery shopping from now on so I know you're safe from him."
All I could do was hug him. I was scared that something bad could happen to him, but I didn't dare tell him that. I knew that if I told him how I felt, and knowing that he would understand, he would still do everything he could to make me feel safe.
I know what Throttle is capable of and it scared me that I could lose Modo and that really scared me. Knowing what Throttle could do to me, Modo or Troy scared me even more.
Modo could tell I was scared cause I was gripping him a little tighter than normal. He knew I wasn't meaning to grip him that tight. I had gripped him so tight that I had drawn blood on his left shoulder.
I looked at him and he wiped the tears from my face.
"Are you ok, darlin'?"
"I'm scared about what could happen to all of us. I know what Throttle is capable of. I can't lose you or Troy. He'll come after you or him without having to violate the restraining order."
"The restraining order also covers me and Troy. He can't come within 500ft. of us. If he does, then he goes back to prison. I'm not going to let him come anywhere near you or our son. He'll have to go through me to get to you or Troy."
"That's what I'm afraid of. I had found rifles and handguns in the saddlebags of Lady after we moved here. The rifles fold up. I was shocked that he needed a long range rifle. That was found at the scoreboard. I can't even imagine what he planned to use that for. He wasn't a sharp shooter by chance, was he?"
"I'm not sure. That's something you'd have to ask Stoker."
"If he still has access to weapons, then he wouldn't need to come near us. He could shoot us without violating the restraining order."

Troy had come home from work about an hour later. I was sitting on the loveseat, watching TV.
"Hey mom. Where's dad?"
I looked Troy's way and noticed something was off with him.
"Wasn't he outside?"
"No. His bike isn't here, either."
I picked up my cellphone and dialed his number. It went straight to voicemail. I hit the end button before it beeped.
Troy didn't like the look on my face.
"I don't like that look, mom. You're worried about dad, aren't you?"
"Yeah, I am. I'm hoping he didn't go after Throttle. I don't even wanna think about what could happen to your father. I know he's worried about me going out by myself."
"Well then, why don't we go look for him. If we're lucky, he might just be doing some light shopping downtown."
"True, but I know him well like I know Throttle well. I know how they both think. I know Modo has changed over the yrs., and he's gotten a bit gruffer as well. I don't mind it, but I miss the sweet, sensitive side of him. The guy that would bring me flowers whenever he wanted. Buy me beautiful, expensive jewelry in the spur of the moment. I miss that side of him and I want it back. Let's go hunt him down."
I got up from the loveseat, grabbed the remote and turned off the TV. We headed for the garage when we saw the garage door going up. Modo had just pulled up to the house. I stood there with my arms folded over my chest. I was pissed and he knew by the look on my face.
Modo had pulled his bike in after the door was all the way up. He shut the engine off, took his helmet off then got off his bike. He opened his left saddlebag and pulled out a few boxes. He handed one to Troy and the other two to me.
"Open them."
"Not 'til I find out why your cellphone was turned off?"
"When did you try to call?"
"About 20 mins. ago. Care to explain?"
"I didn't want you hearing where I was at. It would have ruined the surprise."
"Next time, send me a text so I know you're ok. I had thought you went after Throttle for what he did to me."
"I have no intentions on going after him. Like you said, you don't want to see me go to jail. I'm also sorry I made you worry. Now, will you 2 open your gifts."
I smiled and opened the small box first. I couldn't believe what I saw. I looked at him.
"Do you like it?"
"Like it? I love it! Its beautiful!"
"Open the other box. I think you'll like it, too."
Troy opened his present and was shocked at what was in the box.
"How…how'd you know I like hockey, dad? Especially, The Anaheim Ducks?"
"I saw you and your mother watching and talking about the Ducks game that was on. Did she tell you that she's friends with the only remaining Duck from the team?"
Troy looked at me in shock. "You know the team?"
"I knew the team, Troy. Nosedive is the only one remaining from the team. Duke, Tanya, Mallory, Grin and Nosedive's older brother, Wildwing were killed over a decade ago."
Then I pulled out my cellphone and called Nosedive. I've been calling him every month to make sure he was ok. We both had retired from the Blackhawks after I divorced Throttle.
"Hey Dive. How are ya?"
"Doing good. Been keeping busy at the comic book shop since I retired."
"That's good. Retirement is good to both of us. Hey, I was wondering if you wanted to go catch a movie sometime?"
"That would be great, Mike. In fact, there's a new movie I'd like to see tonight, if you're not busy."
I looked at Modo, who looked back at me. He had shook his head back and forth.
"Sorry, Dive. I'm busy tonight. Maybe tomorrow night?"
"Yeah, we can go tomorrow night. Thanks."
"No problem. If you ever need anything, you know you can always call me, day or night. No matter the time."
"I know. Talk with ya later, Mike."

Later that afternoon, Modo had taken me out for lunch, then we went for a ride along countryside. It was a beautiful ride. I missed going on rides like this.
When we stopped, the sun was starting to go down. We got off the bike, took our helmets off and sat down on the edge of the cliff and watched the sun go down.
I leaned my head against his left shoulder and sighed. Modo looked at me and wrapped his left arm around my shoulders and held me closer to him.
"What a beautiful night. The stars are bright and the moon is full."
"I think I married an angel. The moon makes you glow in a beautiful light."
"Awww, you are so sweet. I miss hearing compliments like that."
Modo smiled at me then kissed my forehead. "I love you, Michelle."
"I love you more, Modo. I love you so much that I'd climb the highest building and shout it so the whole city hears how much I love you."
"I'd go one further and shout to the world how much I love you, Michelle. You are my world up and nothing can change how I feel about you. I'd give my life to make sure you're safe."
"There's the sweet, sensitive guy I've missed. The guy that does things like this for me when I least expect it. Random presents and spur of the moment rides."
"I also have a camping permit."
"You're taking me camping? I haven't done that since I was a kid. You're awesome, Modo! I love you!"
"Its gonna get better later after we set up camp. We have the whole entire campsite to ourselves tonight."
"What are you planning for me?"
"It's a surprise. You'll have to wait and see after we set up camp. Come on. Its up the road a ways." Then he stood up and held his hand out to me. I took it then he lifted me up and handed me my helmet. I put it on and got on his bike. He got on after I did and put his helmet on. Started up the bike and we headed for the campground to set up the tent.

We arrived at the campground in about an hour. The park ranger told us we could go to any campsite here that we wanted and do whatever as long as we were doing it safe. Make sure we out our fire if we make anything. Clean up after ourselves. Things like that. We gave the ranger our word that we would be careful and clean up before we leave.
Modo looked for the farthest campsite possible. When he found the one he was looking for, he parked the bike and we got off. We took our helmets off and put them in the saddle bag. Modo had then pulled out the tent roll and unhooked the sleeping bags from the rack on his bike.
"Want some help putting up the tent, honey?"
"No, thank you. Its an easy tent to put up. It's a pop-up tent. I just need to anchor it down and then we can put the sleeping bags in. We have the campgrounds to ourselves for the whole weekend. Fishing, hiking, swimming. You name it, we can do it."
"What's the special occasion?"
"Does it need to be a special occasion to take my beautiful wife camping?"
"No, of course not. I was just asking. This is gonna be an awesome weekend."
