Chapter 10 BONUS
ENZUK POV
Awwww. You guys didn't think I would leave you hanging too long…right? That would be cruel.
Isn't this a romance? Lol. So, enjoy the Bonus chapter before part II of the story begins.
I was overcome with shock as I witnessed Isabella's eyes slowly closing. The intensity of the moment caused a profound ache to seize my entire being, leaving me gasping for breath and unable to contain my groans of distress.
"No," I whispered, my voice barely audible as I stood there, helplessly witnessing her agonizingly slow demise. A surge of excruciating pain surged through me, engulfing my entire being, as if my very core was being torn apart. The intensity of the anguish was overwhelming, leaving me utterly shattered and overwhelmed.
As I felt the rhythmic, unhurried beats of her heart resonating within the depths of my being, an overwhelming surge of emotions surged through my veins like a powerful current. The intensity of the moment caused my pupils to dilate, expanding in response to the flood of feelings that consumed me. It was as if a voice, originating from the very core of my being, whispered a single word that reverberated through every fiber of my being - "mate."
No, it simply wasn't feasible. She couldn't possibly be my mate. She was merely a human, devoid of any Omna qualities. Not even close to being a resilient female, she was undeniably weak. As a warrior, I couldn't fathom having a mate who was so fragile. But then why did I feel so… I couldn't find the words to express the overwhelming emotions that washed over me. It was a sensation unlike anything I had ever experienced before. The only thing I was certain of was that Isabella's life must be preserved at all costs. I simply could not bear the thought of losing her.
During my time in confinement, I often found myself contemplating her demise on numerous occasions. It was just one of the many thoughts that occupied my mind. I would envision her appearance countless times, picturing how she would plead and ultimately meet her end. I even wondered about the sound of her final breath escaping her lips. However, as I watched her gradually fade away, witnessing her willingly embrace death, it stirred an unsettling feeling within me. The sight of her pale complexion and parched lips only intensified my reluctance to let go of this human being. After all this time, I simply wasn't prepared to bid her farewell.
I was desperate to prolong her life just to unravel the mystery behind this overwhelming emotion. Perhaps our connection had grown too strong, or maybe it was merely a fleeting sensation that would fade once I returned to my own planet. My eyes fell upon Isabella's pallid face, and my heart sank. The sight of her bleeding profusely filled me with a sense of urgency. I was determined to do whatever it took to rescue her.
I muttered quietly to myself as I held her petite figure tightly against me. I needed to take her to Melxa, the most skilled human doctor I knew. Despite his peculiar fascination with humans, which often irritated me, it was now going to work in my favor. If anyone could save Isabella, it would be him. It was time for him to prove his claims of knowing everything about the human body.
Taking a deep breath, I carefully removed my tail from her body. A sharp intake of breath escaped me as her blood gushed out, causing her to convulse. Panic surged through me.
"No," I whispered desperately. Hastily, I covered the wound with my hand and applied pressure to stem the flow of warm, crimson liquid. Mindful of not shocking her delicate system, I gingerly lifted her thin shirt and used my tongue to lick the wound on her stomach. The thick saliva that coated my tongue formed a thin protective layer, helping to halt the bleeding. It wasn't the ideal solution, but it was the best I could do at the moment. Regrettably, I had nothing to wrap around her to keep the saliva in place, so I resorted to a method I knew she would detest.
I carefully removed her lab coat and shirt, then gently wrapped them around her body, making sure to cover the wound to prevent further bleeding. Despite the fact that the rest of her remained uncovered, I took a moment to closely inspect her, blinking a few times to fully comprehend the sight before me. I was taken aback by the breathtaking sight before me when I noticed that she had chosen not to wear anything beneath her shirt.
She possessed an undeniable allure for a human, her appearance far from ordinary. Her skin, smooth and velvety, radiated a comforting warmth. Unlike the females in my own culture, she had a distinct softness to her, a quality that set her apart. The contrast between her dark brown curls and pale complexion, accentuated by her rosy, firm nipples, seemed to be a combination admired in the human world. As I held her close, cradling her delicate form as if she were crafted from porcelain, I couldn't help but chuckle at my own reaction. God. Maybe I was a little sick in the head. Isabella needed a doctor, and I was busy eyeing her breasts. The fragility of humans was a foreign concept to me, as my training had always revolved around eliminating them rather than preserving their lives.
As I carefully selected a secluded route back to my ship, I cradled Isabella protectively against my chest, determined to reach the transfer ship. My hopes rested on Melxa's assistance, for he was my only chance at success. I was well aware that Melxa was present on the ship. He never missed an opportunity to join missions like these, aimed at gathering more human subjects for research purposes. Melxa had a deep affection for humans and frequently voiced his opposition to the cruel treatment they endured. His dedication to their cause was unwavering, and he actively protested against the brutality inflicted upon them.
With urgency, I pushed my way through the corridors, determined to reach Melxa as swiftly as possible. Isabella's condition was deteriorating rapidly. As I reached his door, I burst in with a surge of panic, causing him to recoil in astonishment.
"In the name of Grixoik, what on earth! Enzuk, you cannot simply barge in at any given moment. I am engrossed in important work her-" His words trailed off as his gaze fell upon the tiny human in my arms. With suspicion in his voiced, "Enzuk, pray tell, what is that?"
"I would assume that someone like you would easily recognize a human when you come across one."
"I am well aware of what it is. Allow me to rephrase my question. Why is this human here?"
"Melxa, I cannot divulge all the details at this very moment. All I ask is that you do everything in your power to save her."
With a sneer on his face, he remarked, "She reeks of death. Why should I bother saving a lifeless human? I usually use them for experiments, but this one appears to be on the verge of death. It would be better to dispose of her before the situation worsens."
I pleaded desperately, my voice filled with urgency and desperation, "Melxa, we can't let this one die. She's not just another victim. She holds vital information that could be crucial to our investigation. We need her for interrogation and questioning."
He scoffed, his doubt evident in his tone as he questioned my request, "What could we possibly learn from her? If she was truly important, someone would have already taken the necessary steps to save her. It appears that she has been violated, and her chances of survival are slim."
Swallowing my pride, I mustered all the sincerity I could, appealing to him as a friend, "Please, Melxa, I'm begging you. We can't afford to let her slip away. There's something about her that tells me she's worth saving."
His expression shifted, a mixture of concern and confusion crossing his face as he observed my uncharacteristic behavior, "Enzuk, this is unlike you. Why are you so determined to save her? Is there some kind of bond or connection between the two of you that I'm not aware of?"
In that moment, I realized that I couldn't fully explain the inexplicable pull I felt towards her. It was as if there was an unspoken connection, a shared history that I couldn't quite put into words. All I knew was that I couldn't bear the thought of losing her.
With a heavy sigh, I met his gaze, my eyes pleading for understanding, "Melxa, I can't explain it, but there's something about her…I-I can't explain it. Trust me, please. We can't let her become just another casualty. We have to give her a chance."
He gave a single nod, his expression pensive. "Hmm. Place her on the table, please," he instructed. As I carefully laid her down, his gaze became filled with both curiosity and suspicion as he watched my actions. Melxa's gaze fixated on her exposed chest, causing a sudden tightening sensation within me. Acting on instinct, I swiftly grabbed a cloth from one of the nearby shelves and delicately placed it over her chest. However, Melxa's expression turned into a frown.
"I've witnessed such things countless times, Enzuk," he remarked. "But if I am to attend to my duties, I'll need that cloth removed." With a determined gesture, Melxa pulled the cloth to the side. Yet, I persisted in my efforts to preserve her modesty by retrieving the cloth and gently covering her breasts once again.
"Her wound is actually lower," I explained, feeling a sense of relief as Melxa sighed, indulging my actions. I gently smoothed her hair and caressed the top of her head. Melxa cleared his throat and made a clicking sound with his tongue. "Step back. I'll examine her, but I can't make any promises. The stench suggests that the wound is severely infected. It's a deep wound, inflicted with the intention to kill. The attacker probably left, assuming she was already dead."
As Melxa leaned over the table, his hands gloved and ready, a solemn atmosphere filled the room. I watched anxiously as he carefully inspected the wound, his face a mask of concentration. His fingers probed the edges, tracing the path of the attacker's wound. With each touch, Melxa's brows furrowed deeper, indicating the severity of the injury.
After what felt like an eternity, Melxa straightened up and let out a heavy sigh. "It's worse than I thought," he muttered, his voice tinged with concern. "The infection has spread extensively, and the wound itself is deep enough to have damaged vital organs. She's lucky to be alive."
My heart sank at his words, but I refused to give in to despair. I had brought her here, hoping against hope that Melxa would be able to save her. I had seen him perform miracles before, healing wounds that seemed impossible to mend. I clung to that hope now, praying silently for his expertise to prevail.
Melxa turned to me, his eyes filled with a mix of determination and compassion. "Enzuk, we need to act quickly," he said firmly. "I will do everything in my power to save her, but she will need constant care and monitoring. This will not be an easy journey."
I nodded, my throat tight with emotion. "Do whatever it takes," I said, my voice steady despite the fear that threatened to consume me. "She needs to survive."
"I will do my utmost to assist, but I cannot make any guarantees. If she does not survive, then that is the unfortunate reality. It is worth noting, however, that she is already teetering on the edge of death. I am curious, though, as to why you are going to such great lengths to save this particular human," he commented, raising an eyebrow inquisitively.
I clenched my teeth in frustration, but he quickly raised his hands in a calming gesture. "Just do what you can to heal her."
He chuckled softly, his amusement evident. "I will do my best, but once the urgency has passed, I expect an explanation for your unwavering determination."
With delicate precision, he adjusted her lifeless body, placing a peculiar cup-shaped device over her nose and mouth. Although I wanted to stay and observe, I knew it was wiser to leave. Melxa had never been one to appreciate an audience, and I didn't want him to misconstrue my intentions towards humans. I needed to convey that my interest in saving her life was purely for scientific research purposes. However, Melxa possessed an uncanny ability to discern people's true motives, especially mine, given our long-standing friendship.
With a heavy heart, I turned away from the scene, knowing that I had done all I could for now.
"Where are you headed?" he asked, his attention still focused on the mysterious liquid he was working with.
"I still have some tasks to complete before we leave," I replied. "There are a few humans who managed to escape, and I need to track them down and eliminate them. In addition, I have to bring the human serum to the laboratories for processing."
"I see," he said, turning around and placing the brownish liquid on the table next to Isabella. "You aren't going to bring me more humans, are you?"
"No more humans. Just this one," I assured him, emphasizing that I had no intention of bringing him any more subjects.
He unwrapped the makeshift bandage I had made for Isabella's wound, his gaze fixed on the strands of saliva that clung to the blood-soaked cloth. His eyes met mine, filled with curiosity and disappointment.
"This is quite intriguing," he remarked. "I see you've gone to great lengths, haven't you? It's disheartening, though, that I've never seen this level of inventiveness from you before, considering how long I've known you."
"I'm determined to save the human, for the sake of research," I explained, emphasizing my commitment to this cause.
"Well, you've certainly done well by her," he acknowledged. "If it weren't for your unique skills with cloth and saliva, she would have bled out. I'm not even sure what to call it, but it worked. And if she's not too far gone, I might be able to use this liquid to heal her. I'll ensure her organs can repair themselves and then close up the wounds. After that, it's up to her body to decide whether to live or die."
I knew Isabella possessed strength and a fear of death. Given the opportunity, I was confident she would choose to live. I nodded once in agreement. "Whatever fate awaits her then. I'll leave now and won't return for at least three days. I'll be leading a select group to track down the remaining humans."
He raised an eyebrow, clearly concerned. "And what do you expect me to do with her if she recovers? Keep her here?"
I let out a weary sigh. "If you don't mind, yes. Just until we can safely transport her back home. Once we reach our labs, she will undergo interrogation and experimentation."
He proceeded to pour the liquid onto the wound, carefully collecting the blood that flowed out and reintroducing it into her body through a tube of some sort.
"Do you promise to keep her safe?" I asked, my voice filled with urgency. "If you claim her as one of your projects, no one will dare to touch her. This will buy me some time to explain the significance of studying her. After all, she was the one who created the serum. She is truly worth examining."
Melxa came to an abrupt halt, his eyes widening in surprise. "The scientist?"
I muttered quietly, cursing myself. I couldn't believe I had revealed her identity.
"Enzuk! Are you kidding me? Is this really the human you've brought me? The one who's destined to perish? And you expect me to rescue her?"
I averted my gaze in shame, fully aware of the wrongdoing. It was a futile attempt to rescue a human who was fated for death, and I couldn't help but feel like I had lost touch with reality. It was as if two conflicting aspects of my being were engaged in a fierce battle for dominance. And Isabella was winning.
Melxa eyed me. "This action could potentially be classified as treason, Enzuk. Are you truly prepared to confront the entire kingdom for this? To confront Aro? Do you comprehend the magnitude of how this could jeopardize my efforts? I have no desire to be entangled in this."
"Her true identity remains a mystery to all. From everyone's perspective, I successfully tracked down the scientist and eliminated her."
Melxa chuckled. "Ha. But do you really believe she won't be recognized? She's not exactly an inconspicuous individual."
"She could pass off as any ordinary human, even if she resembles the scientist. But she is not the scientist. The real scientist is deceased."
Melxa shook his head. "Do you even realize what you're suggesting? Now you're proposing deceiving the entire realm?"
"I assure you, I am not being dishonest. Rather, I am preserving something for the greater good of our realm. I believe that she could be a subject of study. Perhaps, as you have mentioned before, there are humans who can be domesticated and coexist peacefully with us." Damn. I was even starting to sound like the human…
"Yes, I recall you being the first one to dismiss my ideas."
I grinned mischievously. "Well, why not utilize her? Utilize her to strengthen your argument. She possesses intelligence and a quick learning ability. She could potentially serve as a crucial missing link in your work."
Melxa's face contorted into a frown as he expressed his confusion. "Alright, I need to know who you really are. This behavior is completely out of character for you, Enzuk. Maybe I should consider examining you as well. Something must have happened down there for you to save a human and now support my research. What transpired between you and this human?"
"She holds no significance to me whatsoever. However, I believe she could serve as valuable evidence to support your research. Perhaps, the traditional Omna approach may not always be the most suitable path. It's possible that certain humans can be domesticated, which could potentially pave the way for the realization of the human breeding program you mentioned earlier. I know you think I ignored your work, but truthfully I have never seen any evidence to support your work. Until now. Imagine, if someone as exceptional as her could be tamed, then there might be a chance for humans to coexist harmoniously with us."
Melxa's lips curled into a confident smirk as he spoke, his voice dripping with amusement. "Well, well. It seems I've finally witnessed it all. Enzuk, attempting to rescue a female human. She managed to do the impossible. Sway you. I have always maintained that not all humans are evil, but this situation still posed a significant risk, Enzuk. While she may be able to assist in advancing my work, she also has the potential to undermine it."
"Your purpose is to rescue humans. That is your role."
"Yes, I do save them, but it is for the purpose of studying them. I do not protect humans who have already been deemed treasonous. Humans who have already faced judgment."
Melxa," I pleaded desperately, my voice filled with anguish. "Please. Don't let her-don't-" I couldn't bear to finish my sentence, turning away in despair. "I beg you, don't let her perish. There's something inexplicable that happened, perhaps due to the serum or some unknown factor." I turned back to face him, my eyes filled with desperation. "I'm powerless to save her, utterly clueless about what steps to take. However, if you can save her, I'm willing to shoulder the full weight of responsibility for everything that has transpired. Melxa, if our friendship still holds any value after all these years, I implore you to grant me this one favor."
With a tilt of his head, his piercing blue eyes locked onto me, as though attempting to assess my trustworthiness. He questioned, "Are you willing to jeopardize our entire friendship for the sake of this human?" As I remained silent, he nodded in understanding. "Very well. Despite what you say, I can sense that she holds some significance to you."
Quickly, I interjected, "She doesn't hold any importance to me-"
"Enough. We have been friends for a considerable amount of time. I understand more than you think. I won't say anything further, but don't assume you can deceive me." When I remained silent he continued his work.
"So, she was the mastermind behind it all?" he mused. "I cannot deny my curiosity in delving into her mind and understanding how she managed to create the serum. I cannot guarantee her comfort, but I do have a few human enclosures available." A smile played on his lips as he continued, "I must admit, I had hoped to acquire a few intriguing human subjects for my own research. Just a handful. However, my preference was for male specimens."
"A male human?" I inquired, slightly taken aback.
"Yes. For my breeding program. I already have female subjects in my laboratory, and I am particularly interested in their breeding habits. I am curious to see if introducing a new male would still result in a bond between them. Do you think humans solely form connections for the purpose of procreation?"
"I couldn't say." I smiled. I couldn't help but notice that his voice resembled Isabella's. It made me ponder if all scientists possessed a similar curiosity for the mysteries of the world, constantly probing into the unknown with their thought-provoking questions.
Isabella never displayed any romantic interest in other human males when she was around them, but she did maintain connections with them in the form of friendships. One such example was her relationship with Daren, a human she seemed to have a strong liking for but refused to call him her mate.
However, Isabella's behavior was always quite peculiar and unconventional. She had a tendency to exhibit sudden shifts in emotions, going from smiling one moment to crying the next. This enigmatic aspect of her personality made her all the more intriguing. At least to me.
Melxa confidently declared, "I will take care of her. My renewed interest in her has sparked a deep sense of responsibility." A mischievous smirk played on his lips as he continued, "You may go without worry. I will find a means to safeguard her, if she manages to survive."
I let out a long sigh of relief as a wave of tension washed away. Graveling was not my thing. "Thank you Melxa."
"You are welcome. I wish you the best of luck in your upcoming battle. May the spirit of Omna be by your side, guiding you, and may you achieve many victories, my brother. And of course, I hope you don't meet an untimely demise." He chuckled lightly; his amusement evident. "After all, you wouldn't want to miss witnessing your new pet thriving and alive."
I couldn't help but give him an irritated glance as he referred to her as my pet. The memory of how furious the human had been when I used that term played in my mind, causing a smirk to form on my face.
Melxa gracefully walked away, disappearing into a secluded back room, leaving me in the company of Isabella. As I found myself alone with her, a mixture of nerves and curiosity flooded over me. I cautiously scanned the room, ensuring our privacy, before my gaze settled on Isabella, peacefully slumbering. The rhythmic rise and fall of her breath reassured me of her tranquil state.
With a delicate touch, I trailed my clawed hand along her velvety cheeks, marveling at the silkiness of her skin. It was a sensation that evoked a sense of tenderness within me. Once again, I glanced around, ensuring no prying eyes disturbed this intimate moment, before I leaned in closer, until our faces were mere inches apart. The warmth of her breath, gentle and comforting, brushed against my own skin, as I inhaled the intoxicating fragrance that emanated from her.
As I leaned in closer, my heart raced with anticipation, my breath becoming shallow. The soft glow of the operation room highlighted her flawless features, drawing me in like a moth to a flame. Her luscious lips, full and inviting, seemed to hold a secret longing, begging to be explored.
With a trembling hand, I reached out, my fingertips barely grazing the silkiness of her skin. Time stood still.
In that fleeting moment, the world around me faded into insignificance. The only thing that mattered was the delicate dance of her lips against mine, a symphony of desire and vulnerability. As our mouths met, a rush of warmth surged through me, spreading like wildfire, consuming every inch of my being.
The taste of her, a sweet blend of passion and longing, intoxicated me, leaving me craving more. The kiss became a dance of exploration, each movement a testament to the depth of my connection to her. Every touch, every brush of my lips against hers, sent waves of exhilaration coursing through me, igniting a fire that burned brighter with every passing second.
In that stolen moment, I felt alive, consumed by a whirlwind of emotions. It was as if the universe had conspired to bring us together, to create this moment of pure bliss. As our lips finally parted, a smile danced upon my face.
Holy crap.
The intensity of the moment left me breathless, yearning to passionately explore the depths of desire with her on the very table she laid upon. Damn. At that very moment, a surge of desire coursed through me, tempting me to forcefully remove her clothing and engage in a passionate, intimate encounter. I moved to cradle her head in my hand. The contrast between her silky hair and the sharpness of my claws intrigued me, compelling me to run my fingers through it. In comparison to the Omna females I was accustomed to, she was strikingly different.
What struck me the most was her petite stature and complete vulnerability. She lacked any form of protection, be it armor or scales. It was astonishing how someone so fragile could summon such immense strength to persevere against overwhelming odds. How could such a seemingly feeble being muster such a fierce fight?
I instinctively recoiled in a state of panic as I heard the footsteps of Melxa approaching. A mischievous smirk crept across his face as he gestured for me to retreat once more. The intensity of the moment heightened as I anxiously contemplated my next move.
"Step back, Enzuk. Save your flirtations for another time."
I rolled my eyes. "I'll be taking my leave now."
As I turned my back and began to distance myself, the sound of Isabella's desperate gasps for breath reached my ears, echoing in my mind. It was as if her struggle for air was a plea for help, a cry that I couldn't ignore. My heart wavered with uncertainty, as doubt seeped into my thoughts, questioning the decision to entrust her well-being to Melxa.
Melxa growled in response to my reaction, clearly sensing my lack of trust. "I know what I'm doing," he seethed, his voice filled with frustration. "Her reaction is due to the potency of the healing liquid. It was necessary, considering the depth of her wound. But rest assured, it is mending her tissue effectively. That's all I will say. If you continue to question me, I will assume you doubt my abilities and you can seek assistance elsewhere."
"I'm leaving," I sighed.
He let out a long, exasperated sigh. "Finally," he said with a heavy tone. "The last thing I need is you constantly hovering over me, expecting me to explain every reaction the human has. It will take some time to undo the damage you did."
A mischievous smile played on my lips. "What makes you think it was me," I teased.
He let out another loud exhale, clearly frustrated. "Don't insult my intelligence. And If you want me to get my work done, you have to give me some space to actually work."
"Melxa," I said.
"Hmm?" he responded.
"Why would a person be concerned about the location of their death? Is there some profound significance attached to it?"
"What do you mean?" he inquired.
"Prior to Isa-the human, losing consciousness, she expressed a desire to be taken outdoors. I found it rather peculiar. Does the place of a person's death hold any importance?"
"Well, I believe there are instances when it can happen. It often relates to seeking comfort. My assumption is that she was experiencing fear and desired to be in a familiar and calming environment. This is not an unusual occurrence. Even within our community, it is common for individuals to seek solace when faced with the proximity of death. Now, I must insist that you depart. Although I am reluctant, I will physically remove you if necessary."
Grinding my teeth in frustration, I reluctantly exited the room. The lingering scent of her blood still filled my nostrils, but her vital signs showed signs of improvement. Melxa, renowned for his expertise in human anatomy, had assured me of her recovery. Yet, despite his knowledge and my trust in him, I found myself questioning and hesitating to leave Isabella.
I despised the fact that a mere human had wreaked such havoc in my life. It was because of her that I had stayed behind, allowing the others to escape. If I hadn't been preoccupied with tracking her down, those other humans would have never slipped through my grasp.
She was my target, and I craved her blood. But when the opportunity presented itself, I couldn't bring myself to take it. Did that make me weak? The very thought infuriated me. I had never considered myself weak; in fact, I was known as one of the most formidable Omna warriors."
I took great satisfaction in inflicting suffering upon my enemies. For so long, the mere thought of shedding her blood and consuming her had filled me with anticipation. However, when I held her in my arms, there was an undeniable purity and innocence about her. It was evident that she had no desire to meet her demise. In the darkness, as I relentlessly pursued her, she trembled with fear and pleaded for her life. She complied with my every command, yet it was I who failed to carry out her execution.
I couldn't help but question if this was a grave mistake. Had I unwittingly subjected her to another form of torment? I was well aware that the Omna people would relish in witnessing her suffer, perhaps even subjecting her to the horrors of being skinned alive. Well, that's if her identity was discovered. But Melxa was right. I could only hide her identity for so long.
Still, the thought of anyone laying a hand on her angered me.
I couldn't help but smirk, as a mixture of awe and delight washed over me. It was impossible to contain my admiration as I recalled her face to my mind. Her lips, oh my God, they were more than just beautiful; they were absolutely incredible! Plump and inviting, they held a magnetic allure that drew me in.
But it wasn't just her lips that had me captivated. Her breasts, they were a sight to behold. They possessed an enchanting allure, perfectly shaped and enticingly alluring. They held a power over me, leaving me completely entranced and unable to look away. The only thing that made me look away was the fact that she might die if I didn't get her to Melxa.
Every inch of her being was a masterpiece, a work of art that demanded my attention. Her flawless form, her curves, her every contour, all meticulously crafted to create a mesmerizing sight. It was as if she had been sculpted by the hands of a divine artist, leaving me in awe of her beauty.
She was more than just a person; she was a breathtaking vision, a living embodiment of desire and perfection. And above all—dangerous.
Still.
The image of Isabella, her face contorted in pain, haunted me as I walked away. The weight of responsibility pressed upon my shoulders, making me question whether I had made the right choice. Was Melxa capable of providing the care and attention she needed?
Every step I took further from Isabella felt like a betrayal, a betrayal of the bond we had formed and the trust she had placed in me. She was my mission. And I had done my best to follow through. But now, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was abandoning her in a time of need, leaving her vulnerable and alone. The uncertainty gnawed at my conscience, leaving me torn between my own desires and what was expected of me as an Omna warrior.
As I continued to walk, the internal struggle intensified. The conflicting emotions battled within me, tearing at my resolve. The sound of Isabella's labored breathing echoed in my mind, a constant reminder of the choice I had made. Doubt consumed me, clouding my judgment and casting a shadow of uncertainty over my decision.
In that moment, I realized that leaving Isabella in Melxa's care was a leap of faith. It required me to trust in his abilities, his intentions, and his commitment to her well-being. It demanded that I let go of my own fears and insecurities, and believe that he would provide the care and support she needed.
With a heavy heart, I took a deep breath and made a conscious choice to trust in Melxa. I reminded myself that he had shown compassion and kindness towards Isabella in the past, and that he had a genuine desire to help her. It was a decision fueled by hope, hope that Isabella would receive the care she deserved and that my doubts would prove unfounded.
As I walked away, the weight of uncertainty still lingered, but I held onto the belief that I had made the best decision I could in that moment. The sound of Isabella's gasps for breath slowly faded into the distance, replaced by a quiet resolve to trust in Melxa and have faith in the choices I had made.
What in the name of Grixoik was happening to me? Whatever it was, I needed to rid myself of it. It made me feel feeble and exposed. She was a weakness I couldn't afford.
Well…hopefully some faith is rekindled in Eznuk. He's not all bad. Just an innocent Omna trying to finish his mission. Unfortunately, Bella is his Achilles heel. Stay tune for our travel to NOVIS.
