The PCPD – Jordan's Office
"I hate to do it," Jordan said, "Especially after Kellie just buried her father-in-law today. I think we have to bring her and Jason in for questioning tonight. Not only did she and Sonny have a fight at the church before he disappeared, but now we're hearing rumors Jason replaced Sonny in the business. How reliable is your source?"
"It's Johnny Zacharra," Mac said, "When we questioned him about Sonny's disappearance, he hinted as much. As much as it's hard to put stock in anything Zacharra says, there's been too many rumblings related to Sonny and his hold on the business. I can't see Zacharra making that one up."
"It's hard to chalk it off as a coincidence," Jordan said, "Do you really think Jason would oust Sonny though? He is pretty loyal."
"It wouldn't be the first time," Mac said, "Jason's sister, Emily Quartermaine, was dating Sonny years ago when she kidnapped and then killed in the crossfire of a shootout with Manny Ruiz. She was hit by both Sonny's bullet and Ruiz's. Jason went to work for Alcazar after that for awhile. Then Sonny almost lost the business to Luiz Alcazar and Kellie took over to stop that from happening. Jason went back to working for Sonny at some point when he took it back over."
"So it's possible Jason might have gotten fed up with Sonny and took over," Jordan said, "His wife was the intended target when Charles took the bullet for her. Other members of his family could have been hurt or killed."
"It could be," Mac said, "Though if it were up to me, we'd let Sonny and Jason sort out their own circus."
"Unfortunately, no matter how we feel about alleged criminals," Jordan said, "We have to investigate a citizen disappearing when his bodyguard wakes up unconscious. Not to mention, I'd prefer this be solved quickly before the turf war Port Charles heats up even more between the mob families. We'll need to question Lorenzo Alcazar too since it got physical between him and Sonny at the funeral."
"Good luck telling Ms. Miller we're requesting to see her clients for questioning at this hour," Mac said
Kellie and Jason's House
After they put the kids to bed and changed clothes, Kellie sat on the couch watching Jason get ready to leave.
"I wish I didn't have to leave right now," Jason said, sitting on the couch next to Kellie for a moment, "Not after the day you've had."
"I get it," Kellie said, "You need to let Selina and the other families know who's in charge now. Make sure there's no confusion."
"Hopefully Diane can keep the PCPD at bay until tomorrow on any questioning," Jason said.
Kellie checked the front door camera on her phone and a text from the guards, "I don't think we're that lucky. It's Dante."
"Maybe Dante's just checking on you," Jason said.
"Or the PCPD sent him because they want me for questioning too," Kellie said, "Figure I might be more agreeable to going to the station if he brings me in."
"I was really hoping Diane would be able to buy more time," Jason said.
Kellie leaned into Jason.
"I'll go to the station and stall," Kellie said, "So you can do what you need to do. For all we know word's already gotten out that Sonny's no longer in charge. Might also be why the PCPD won't wait until tomorrow to question us."
Jason kissed Kellie, "I'll be quick."
"You better hurry before Dante realizes you're actually here," Kellie said, kissing him back, "Now go."
Jason disappeared towards the back of the house as Kellie went to get the door.
"Hey," Dante said when Kellie opened the door.
"Hey yourself," Kellie said, "I'm not fortunate enough for you just to be stopping by say hello."
"Unfortunately no," Dante said, "I assume you know Dad's missing."
"I heard," Kellie said.
"Commissioner Ashford asked me to bring you in for questioning," Dante said, "Figured it might be easier after the day you've had."
"I should be staying home with my kids tonight after the day they've had," Kellie said.
"I know, I know," Dante said, "It wasn't my call. The Commission and Chief of Detectives are having a hard time ignoring the fact that you and Dad had a fight right before he disappeared."
"Dad and I always fight," Kellie said, "That's not anything new."
"I told them that," Dante said, "But apparently Johnny Zacharra claimed when they questioned him that Jason ousted Sonny from the business. Do you know anything about that?"
Kellie shrugged and said nothing.
"Oh come on," Dante said, "What kind of answer is that? I suppose this is the point where you say you're not saying anything more without your attorney present."
"Score one for the detective," Kellie said, "Wait here and I'll be out in moment to head to the station."
"I need Jason to come in too," Dante said, "Where is he?"
"He had an errand to run," Kellie said, "I'll tell him to meet me at the station."
"What kind of errand?" Dante asked.
Kellie shrugged and shut the door in Dante's face.
Dante paced the porch until Kellie and Johnny O' Brien came back out.
"You are entirely too agreeable to going to the station," Dante said, "Are you sure Jason left already? Because I could have sworn the guards said he was here with you."
"You just missed him," Kellie said, "Now let's go, so I can't get back home to my kids sooner."
Kellie walked ahead as Johnny O' Brien pulled Dante to the side.
"I don't care if the PCPD asked you to bring your sister down for questioning," Johnny said, "Aside from that, turn off the detective brain if you want to minimize Kellie's chances of sitting permanently with the five families."
Johnny gave Dante a slight shove and followed after Kellie, leaving Dante shaking his head as he followed.
PCPD
Lorenzo was sitting in the interrogation room with Alexis when he saw Kellie walk in.
Lorenzo cursed was visibility upset, "They couldn't leave her alone after burying Charles today."
"Keep yourself calm," Alexis said, "And breathe. You don't want to give the PCPD anymore reason to look at you. I know that you and Sonny coexist only for Kellie's sake and I know that you'd never do anything to Sonny because of that. But you and Sonny still have a known grudge towards each other which was not helped with your little stunt at the church today."
Lorenzo grumbled under his breathe.
"What was that?" Alexis asked.
"Nothing, just that I've been at the church during most of the time whatever happened with Sonny seems to have happened," Lorenzo said.
"Yes, we will establish that and we can go home," Alexis said, "I see Diane is here. So I'm assuming she'll represent Kellie."
Lorenzo watched as Jordan led Kellie and Diane to another interrogation room. He got up and marched out of the room, blocking Jordan.
"Is there something I can do for you, Mr. Alcazar," Jordan asked.
"Commissioner, you really couldn't let my niece grieve in peace with her family tonight," Lorenzo said.
"Unfortunately, a citizen of Port Charles was attacked and another is missing," Jordan said, "Like yourself, your niece also fought with Sonny before he disappeared. Questioning here wasn't going to wait. Now please, go back to the interrogation room you were in and Detective Scorpio will be with you in a moment."
"Lorenzo, get back in here," Alexis said, exasperated.
Lorenzo looked at Kellie. Kellie shrugged and nodded at him to go back into the room with Alexis.
"Mr. Alcazar, I suggest you do as your legal counsel and wife advises," Diane said, "You are understandably over protective of your niece right now given what she and her children have been through. Trust me, I will make sure Kellie is out of here as soon as possible."
Lorenzo glared at Jordan and went back to the interrogation room.
"Did that really make you feel any better?" Alexis asked, shutting the door.
"No," Lorenzo said, pacing the room.
"Do I need to tell you breathe again, maybe multiple times," Alexis asked, "It's not like Kellie doesn't know the drill. She's playing the I refuse to talk without my attorney card extremely well tonight."
"Too well," Lorenzo muttered, wondering what Kellie was up to and where Jason was.
Pozzulo's
Brick walked into the back office where Jason was.
"I'm surprised you asked to meet," Brick said, "I figured you be busy with the search for Sonny or just staying home with Kellie and the kids."
"Kellie's been brought down to the police station for questioning regarding Sonny," Jason said, "I have some things to take care of before the PCPD tracks me down to go as well."
"This sounds serious," Brick said, "Is there something else going on I should know about."
"Sonny's out," Jason said.
"When you say out you mean what exactly?" Brick asked.
"Sonny no long runs or has access to the Corinthos organization or its resources," Jason said, "I know you're extremely loyal to Sonny…"
"But you wouldn't have taken over the business if you thought he had things under control or could turn things around," Brick said, "It's a shame. I was hoping Sonny would pull this one off. But I obviously understand your position especially in light of his disappearance today."
"Thank you," Jason said, "I wanted to let you know what was going on in person given your loyalty to Sonny and now that you run your own territory."
"I appreciate it," Brick said, "Is there anything else I can do to help find Sonny?"
"You're already doing it," Jason said.
"If you think of something," Brick said.
"I'll let you know," Jason said.
"Do Ms. Wu and Johnny Zacharra know you're in charge now?" Brick asked.
"I'll give Selina a call next," Jason said, "Zacharra will find out whenever he finds out."
"I'll give Zacharra a courtesy call," Brick said, "Say it was at your request. Should be good to keep his ego in check a little bit."
Jason nodded.
"I'll leave you to it then," Brick said, leaving.
The Savoy
Selina was sitting at the bar when her phone rang.
"Mr. Morgan, what a pleasant surprise to hear from you," Selina answered.
"I'll keep this brief, Selina," Jason said, "Sonny's no longer in charge of the business. I am."
"Well congratulations are in order then," Selina said, "I hope you will be much more successful in stabilizing the business than Sonny has been. I had my doubts about him doing as he was asked. I'm glad to see you've done something about that. I must say, you've done a masterful job of ensuring Sonny was out of the way to establish your takeover. I didn't think you had it in you to go that far."
Selina waited for Jason's response that never came when the call ended. Selina looked slightly dismayed at Jason's abrupt end to the call, but unsurprised as he'd said all he'd needed to say.
Brad stepped out of the backroom poker game for a moment.
"Is something wrong Aunt Selina?" Brad asked.
"Nothing at all," Selina said, "In fact, I received some very good news. Sonny Corinthos is no longer head of his organization."
Brad looked at Selina in surprise as she took a sip of her wine.
