Author's Note: It was definitely interesting to write Sonny's disappearance at Maximus's hand and not have him killed off. How would even Sonny believe he took off on his own as well as the cops. So hypnosis it was. I definitely decided Epiphany got to speed up her medical school just be a doctor now. Liz will still end up as head nurse obviously, I don't have that established just yet. I'm more leaving it vague at this point. In terms of things happening on the show with Liz, I wrote the next scenes with the idea in mind, she's still working through the black outs she had and finding out her Dad had an affair with Finn's wife at this point in this story (along with sassy and fiesty Lizzie making up more of her personality).

As I'm wrapping up this story, I'm also posting the first chapter to "After Midnight" tonight and will be posting the remainder of that story throughout the month of October with the last chapter being posted on Halloween. Back in 2020-2021 I binge watched"Buffy The Vampire Slayer" and "Angel". While doing so remember that Port Charles, the GH spin-off had a vampire storyline. That got me thinking what if the vampires existed in the General Hospital universe as well as Buffy and Angel. The result is "After Midnight" that I've been writing on and off for the last few years and thinking of posting only during the month of October for Halloween. I finally finished the story earlier this year. During the first Kellie Corinthos story, "Trouble Always Finds Me", Jason and Sonny are in looking into Kellie's background and find rumours or information on an incident in which she had a bloody shootout with her stalker/rapist men in California when they tried to kidnap her. In "After Midnight", Angel Investigations ends crossing paths with Kellie as the result of that incident. Please note, given "After Midnight" takes place before Kellie arrived in Port Charles, Kellie's is the only GH character to show up in the story. Feel free to check it out if you'd like.

The guard shut the door to the supply closet leaving Johnny and Liz to themselves.

"I probably should get back to work," Liz said as she Johnny tried to awkwardly move out of each other's way.

"Of course," Johnny said, "I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to make things well whatever this is for you."

"Am I a little embarrassed, yeah," Liz said, handing Johnny his shirt, "But we're not the first people to get caught in a hospital supply closet."

"You almost sound proud of that, Lizzie," Johnny said.

Liz smirked in response.

"I don't what's brought out feisty Lizzie more often recently," Johnny said, moving closer to Lizzie, "But in my opinion, I think you should keep her out."

"You wouldn't say that if you knew what she was really capable of," Liz mumbled.

"What was that?" Johnny asked.

"You should stop before you get us caught again," Liz said, lightly shoving Johnny away. Liz sauntered out the of the supply closet as Johnny watched her leave.

The Nurses Station

Epiphany came up to Elizabeth.

"Now as your friend," Epiphany said, "I'm very happy to see you that you are having some fun these days. I expect to find out more about you and Mr. O'Brien the next time we go out for drinks."

"What's Liz telling us about Mr. O' Brien?" Terry asked, approaching them.

"There is nothing to tell," Liz said, "We're just old friends that reconnected. He used to guard me when I was with Jason."

"That was more than two friends reconnecting in the supply closet," Epiphany said.

"You did not in the supply closet?" Terry exclaimed.

"Keep your voice down," Liz said, "It's not a thing, there are no labels. Maybe there are a few times now when we've met to see each other, things happened."

Terry and Epiphany's attention was diverted to Johnny walking by the nurses station with Kellie, Kelsey, and the other guards.

Kellie tried not to laugh as she realized why Terry and Epiphany were looking at them, specifically Johnny.

Liz blushed, trying to look busy in her work. Johnny looked at Liz with a slight smile as they walked away.

"Call her," Terry yelled to the confusion of everyone else in the area and causing Epiphany to chuckle and Kellie to let out the laugh she'd been holding in.

"Terry!" Liz admonished.

GH Parking Garage

Kellie had put Kelsey in the car. The rest of the guards were also in their vehicles, leaving Kellie and Johnny outside the car.

"I'm sorry about any uh…." Johnny started to say.

"What you do on your time is your business," Kellie interrupted, "You were given a break that you used to get caught with Liz in the hospital supply closet."

"You're never going to let me live this down," Johnny groaned.

"I personally am going to pretend I never saw that for the most part," Kellie said, "Other than to know that I now know who you've been dating."

"Are you going to tell Jason?" Johnny asked.

"Nope," Kellie replied, "What you and Liz decide to tell whoever is your business. Though in all honesty I probably won't have to tell him by the time this gets through the hospital gossips and the guards."

"I better tell him," Johnny said more to himself.

"So how long have you and Liz been seeing each other," Kellie asked, "Are you an official couple or still figuring things out?"

"I don't know," Johnny replied.

"I don't know as in it's none of my business or you actually don't know?" Kellie responded.

"Both," Johnny said, "Are we done with the third degree?"

"I was just curious," Kellie said, "The only thing I'm going to say about it at this point is you and Liz are adults and can do what you want. Your relationship is your business and I want both of you to be happy whatever that looks like. I love and annoy you like a brother, Johnny, which means I've known you a long time. Liz is Jake's mom and I have a lot of respect for her. She's been through a lot the last few years. Don't screw up by hurting her."

"I know, I know Jason will have something to say about it," Johnny said.

"You'll have to deal with me first." Kellie said, "Especially if it makes guard arrangements and Jake coming over here awkward."

"That's why we weren't telling anybody," Johnny said, "So it wouldn't be awkward. Now we should get moving."

Niagara Falls

Sonny and Nina were in the hotel room when there was a knock at the door. Sonny opened it to find a couple of uniformed police officers and a federal agent with them.

"Sonny Corinthos, you'll need to come with us," The agent said, "Actually back to Port Charles where the PCPD has outstanding questions related to the assault of one of your guards and your disappearance."

"Seriously," Sonny asked.

"Trent wasn't pressing charges," Nina replied.

"The PCPD still has questions about the incident given the indications of foul play when you disappeared without a word at first," Agent said, "Our apologies for cutting your trip short. But you'll need to come with us."

"Where do I need to be and when?" Sonny asked, irritated.

"We will be escorting you from here to the PCPD," The agent said, "Your guards and girlfriend can follow us. But that is non-negotiable."

"Alright, well I'm calling my attorney first," Sonny replied.

"Go right on ahead," the Agent replied as Nina handed Sonny his phone.

Sonny called Diane, "So I'm Niagara Falls on vacation and a federal agent and some officers showed up saying I had to come with them for questioning. Do what you need to do to make them go away."

"I was just informed law enforcement was headed to you and had been in contact with the judge," Diane replied, "Unfortunately, given that your guard was found knocked out cold and your vehicle abandoned with mechanical issues and the PCPD initiated a search for you, law enforcement has questions and they are not willing to wait for you to return on your own. I strongly you advise you go with the agent and reschedule your vacation, preferably with better planning."

Port Charles

Kellie knocked on Liz's door. She was holding a plastic bag.

Liz opened the door, surprised to see Kellie.

"Is there something I can help you with," Liz asked stunned.

Kellie motioned for Liz to come outside, "I just wanted to talk for minute. I won't be long.

"Oh god, this about me and Johnny isn't it," Liz replied, stepping outside and closing the door, "You know Johnny and I are adults and our relationship isn't any one's business but ours. I know Johnny's one of your guards, but you'd don't get to interfere."

"Agreed," Kellie said, pulling a flask out of the plastic bag she was holding, "Now about we sit down, have a drink and we can talk."

Kellie sat down the porch step and then pulled a couple disposable cups out of the plastic bag. Liz watched as Kellie proceeded to pour tequila from the flask into each cup.

Liz sat on the porch set next to Kellie and picked up one of the cups. She took a sip as Kellie picked up and took a sip of the other.

"I probably could have used this at the hospital after…." Liz said.

"We all could have used a drink," Kellie said, "I will pretend I never saw most of that by the way."

"So what exactly did you come over to discuss if it's not about Johnny," Liz questioned.

"I did come over to talk about you and Johnny," Kellie replied, "Just not for the reasons you assumed. His life is his business, though I am nosy about it to annoy him and because I do want him to be happy. But as for us, we also co-parent Jake. I wanted to make sure you were okay after having your relationship discovered so publicly discovered and ensure we worked through any awkwardness from that outside of shuffling kids around."

"I have to say the Tequila is an excellent idea towards accomplishing that," Liz said, "I'll be fine. I'm just embarrassed more than anything. I have the reputation of the hospital to uphold and I … I don't what came over me when Johnny said he had a break to come see me…."

"Speaking from experience," Kellie said, "Most people will probably forget about it quickly and you'll probably think more of it then them."

"Now I'm curious," Liz said, "What public places have you been caught?"

"Most of them weren't public," Kellie said, "I seemed to have the misfortune people letting themselves into my home at inconvenient times."

"You mean the guards didn't stop them?" Liz asked.

"Uncle Lo had a key to my penthouse since he owned the building at the time," Kellie said, "So Tyler and I didn't have sex for months after we first got married. It wasn't supposed to be a real marriage and I had a lot of hang ups from and concerns about even staying married because of how dangerous my life is. So I finally decide I'm ready to consummate the marriage, am dressed up in the lingerie and undressing Tyler while going upstairs when Uncle Lo lets himself in with his key."

"No, The guards didn't stop him," Liz asked.

"Milo was on duty," Kellie said, "Uncle Lo could intimidate him considering he and Sage were only dating at the time."

"So what was so important your uncle decided he should just walk right in?" Liz asked.

"That was when Michael was shot in the head," Kellie said quietly.

"Didn't you leave Tyler when that happened?" Liz asked.

"Yep," Kellie said, "I decided that Uncle Lo interrupting us with the news about Michael was a sign I should let Tyler go to keep him safe."

"So you didn't end up?" Liz inquired.

"Nope, not until we'd gotten back together and moved to California," Kellie said, "The morning after Lulu showed up while Tyler and I were half naked in the kitchen."

"What?" Liz exclaimed, "You had no idea Lulu was coming?"

Kellie shook her head, "It was an impromptu trip on her part to escape Sage's wedding planning."

"I could see that," Liz replied, "So like I'm kind of curious, did this streak of people walking in on you extend to Jason."

"Almost," Kellie said, "Turns out Carly had a key to Jason's apartment when he first came back to Port Charles."

"Of course, she did," Liz said.

"Jason and I didn't even know what we were at the time we decided to…well," Kellie said, "Carly and Sonny had showed up at Jason's apartment. I made a mad dash to the bedroom, locked the door, got dressed, and broke Jason's apartment window to escape being found out before we were ready."

"But Carly knew Jason had been with someone, didn't she?" Liz said.

"She figured out it was me anyway," Kellie said, "In my haste to escape, I forgot the leather jacket I was wearing in Jason's living room. The same leather jacket Carly had given me as a birthday present the year before.

"Wow," Liz said, "Let me guess, she didn't waste any time asking you about it."

"She showed up at my room at the MetroCourt looking for information," Kellie said, "But let the bomb drop about me needing to marry Jason for business reasons and after I left informed Uncle Lo about my relationship with Jason."

"What happened?" Liz asked.

"Uncle Lo showed up and punched Jason while I was yelling at Sonny who was also shoving Jason," Kellie said, "Olivia came in and broke it up. That was also when we realized I'd cut my hand when I broke the window worse than I thought. I had to go to GH for stitches."

"That is just wild," Liz said, "Granted there were a lot of rumors flying around about you and Jason since he'd been on the island with you for awhile before all that. That makes getting caught in the supply closet seem tame."

"You're welcome," Kellie replied, "It was a lot at the time, but no one gives anything of that a lot of thought anymore. I'm sure it'll be the same for you."

"I don't know the hospital rumor mill is something else at times," Liz said.

"And the rumors will probably be wilder than the truth," Kellie replied.

After a moment of silence, Liz spoke, "So you're really not here to pry about me and Johnny?"

"If I was really going to pry," Kellie said, "I'd talk to Johnny. From what little I can gather, I don't think either of you know what this relationship is for either of you."

"You're not wrong," Liz said, "But then again I have no idea about anything regarding my life these days."

Kellie looked at Liz concerned, "Are you okay? Is there something you need help with?"

"No…just stuff I have to sort out regarding life in general," Liz said.

"I know how that goes," Kellie said, though not entirely convinced, "You know if you ever need anything…."

"I appreciate that," Liz said, "But it's not necessary."

"The offer stands if you change your mind," Kellie said as Aiden opened the front.

"Mom, are we still making brownies together?" Aiden asked.

"Yes, of course," Liz said, "I'll be inside in a moment."

Aiden went back inside.

"I'm sorry to rush you off," Liz said.

"I need to get going anyway," Kellie said, standing up to leave.

"Thanks for the Tequila and well making sure things stay good for Jake in all this," Liz said.

"Anytime," Kellie said.
