Author's Note: Only one more chapter after this one to finish this story out. I'm not sure when it will be posted as I still have to write it. Thank you all for reading and continuing this journey with Kellie and these stories.

Self-Defense Studio

Eventually, Kellie went to catch up on paper work in her office and have some time to herself before heading home.

She found she was struggling to concentrate and when the last class left, she grabbed a pair of gloves to go use the punching bag.

She was about to put the gloves on when Jason walked in. Kellie dropped the gloves and ran over to Jason who wrapped her in his arms.

"I figured you'd be a lot longer," Kellie said as they stepped apart.

"I needed to see you," Jason said, sweeping her hair out of her face, "I brought the bike. I was thinking we could just go for a ride."

"I'd like that," Kellie said as Jason grabbed her hand and led her out of the studio, "But the kids will be home soon."

"Sage and Milo said they would take our kids and their kids all out to the movies today and dinner," Jason said, "They'll keep them longer if we need them to"

"Are you okay?" Kellie asked, "I know that what just happened, what's has been happening with the business, with my father hasn't been easy for you."

"No, it hasn't," Jason said, "Right now, I just want ride with you. Feel the wind and you with it."

Kellie nodded as they approached the bike. Jason handed Kellie her helmet before putting his own on. Jason got on the bike and started it. Then Kellie got on the bike behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist before they drove off.

After riding for a while, Jason turned into the long driveway of one of his safe houses and stopped the bike in front of the garage.

"I'm not quite ready to go back yet," Jason said after they took off their helmets, "I hope this is okay."

"This must be a new safehouse," Kellie said.

Jason nodded and led Kellie into the house.

Once inside the house, Jason and Kellie collapsed on the couch.

"Talk to me," Kellie finally said, moving closer to Jason, putting her hand on his leg, "I know that's not really your thing but…"

"I don't even know what to say," Jason said, "Sonny pulled a gun on me. I knew he wouldn't taking being forced out well, but that was more than I expected."

"I'm sorry you had to do this," Kellie said, "I know that it probably didn't help me showing up at the warehouse. But I honestly wasn't sure what he would do."

"You have nothing to apologize for. Jason said, "I should have been more prepared for how Sonny would react."

"You didn't want to consider shooting your best friend or that he'd shoot you," Kellie said, "I knew our relationship wouldn't exactly be easy knowing how loyal you've been to my father, but I don't think I ever imagined anything like this."

Jason took Kellie's hand.

"None of this is your fault," Jason said, "Even if we weren't together and you were nowhere near Port Charles, what happened today still could have happened. I still might have ended up forcing Sonny out of the business to keep everyone safe. Especially after his disappearing act. The same risks, same weaknesses would have made us targets."

"I just hope I haven't made this worse for you by showing up like I did," Kellie said, "I needed to know you were going to be okay when I heard my father was back in town."

"I'm glad you showed up," Jason said, "It feels a little selfish to say that. You shouldn't have had to be involved in confronting Sonny like that."

"Jason, Sonny and I were going to have this confrontation at some point" Kellie said, "Granted I don't think I ever would have thought I'd throw a knife at him and hold a gun on him like that."

"If I had been taking my protection more seriously, you wouldn't have felt like you needed to show up in that situation, confront Sonny in that way," Jason said, "That's twice now you've had my back in a situation where I was over confident in my safety. First with Cyrus and now with Sonny."

"I'm never not going to have your back, Jason," Kellie said.

"I love knowing that," Jason said, "But I promise you I'm going to do a much better job of ensuring you don't feel like you need to put yourself in the line of fire for me as often."

"Doesn't mean I won't show up when it's needed," Kellie said.

"Just be careful," Jason said, pulling Kellie closer to him, "I almost lost you twice this last year. First when Peter shot you and then on the island with Cyrus. You didn't get shot then, but…."

Jason's hand found his way under Kellie's shirt and touched the scar from Peter's bullet.

"I'd rather not go through anything like that again," Jason said.

"Neither do I," Kellie said before Jason kissed her as if he couldn't wait another moment.

Kellie's kiss back was equally as responsive.

"Is this okay?" Jason asked, between kisses, "This wasn't what I was intending to do when we rode out here tonight after everything that's happened."

"It's more than okay," Kellie said, running her fingers through Jason's hair, "I don't you think were planning anything beyond riding the motorcycle with me. Whatever you need tonight, Jason."

"I just need you," Jason said, taking Kellie's shirt off, "To touch you, to hold you. To make love to my gorgeous wife."

"You're not usually this chatty," Kellie said, scrambling to take Jason's shirt off, "Not that I'm complaining."

Jason moved his hand to help Kellie get his shirt off the rest of the way.

"I know I don't always tell you how I feel maybe as much as I should," Jason said as he and Kellie settled close into each other again and started kissing again, "I guess wanted to tell you tonight how much I love you."

"I love you too," Kellie said before neither one said much of anything for awhile.

Sometime later, Kellie and Jason were curled up under blankets against each other on the couch.

"So what now?" Kellie asked, running her fingers across Jason's chest.

"We stay here like this and pretend the rest of the world doesn't exist for awhile longer," Jason said.

"I do like that idea," Kellie said, "At least until we need to go pick up the kids from Sage and Milo. I know they said they'd keep them as long as we need. And as much as part of me would love to stay here all night with you, I also really do just want to be with our whole family together."

"We've all separated from each other for way too long now," Jason said, "I can't believe how much the kids have grown in the time they were on the island. I missed so much, especially with Kelsey. When I came back, I didn't want to miss out on being a parent to Danny and Jake like I had before. With Kelsey, it felt like I've been making the same mistakes."

"Hopefully, now you're running things, we'll be less likely to need to hole up the kids on the island for a long period of time," Kellie said, "Although I am reconsidering if I should still use that as a safe house anymore. Carlos Alcazar and now Cyrus managed to get past all my security when I've been there. With Garrett, NCIS warned me to get out of the area because he was in the area."

"We can definitely reassess security on the island or reconsider the kids being at the casino," Jason said, "And I'll look into a couple of other options. Having multiples options would make it more difficult to get to the kids and you."

"Yeah," Kellie said, "But just don't beat yourself up about what you missed out on here. I missed out on some of that time too. But we did what had to keep the kids safe even if it wasn't ideal."

"I just want you to know, I plan on doing better," Jason said.

"I know you will," Kellie said, "I guess we should head home to the kids then."

"Maybe not quite yet," Jason said, kissing Kellie and pulling the blanket over their heads.
