Chapter 35: The Battle for Primary Village (Part 1)
"Ter-rer-mon!" Conomon bounced excitedly within the wicker basket crib.
"I'm glad you're okay!" Terriermon said excitedly, scooping up the little digimon in his arms and lifting her up in the air. "You're okay! You're okay!"
Terriermon paused as Conomon wriggled uncomfortably in his arms. "Put down! Put down!"
"Sorry," Terriermon said sheepishly, quickly setting the little digimon back down in the basket. Conomon quickly snuggled back under the blanket and glowered at Terriermon who could only offer an apologetic smile. "I'm glad you're alright."
"You safe too!" Conomon managed to respond, tripping over her words.
As Beowolfmon watched the pair interact, part of him wondered if that was how siblings were supposed to behave. He side eyed Koichi, wondering if talking to him normally really was an easy task. Terriermon and Conomon made it seem so easy. And yet, Beowolfmon found it a struggle to engage with Koichi at all.
"So that's what it's like to be normal siblings," he caught himself saying aloud instead of thinking it.
"Wha-?" Koichi turned to him in surprise. Beowolfmon looked away, cursing under his breath for letting that slip out so nonchalantly. He could see the eyes of the others on him, and he didn't really appreciate the way they were looking at him.
"We all heard it! You can't deny it!" JetSilphymon said far too happily. "You wish that you and your brother were closer!"
"Y-yeah shut up," Beowolfmon grunted.
"Oh, we're not siblings," Terriermon interrupted. "I mean, our partners were siblings. But we're not."
"Prin-incess Prissypa-pants," Conomon managed to say. Terriermon shuddered at the
"You're not? But you were so worked up about getting her back," Koichi said.
"Well, yeah. We're friends," Terriermon answered matter of factly. "I bet you'd be mad too if anything happened to her. Or your brother over there."
"I barely know either of them," Koichi admitted sheepishly, to both Terriermon and Conomon's surprise. The fact that both their mouths were hanging wide open in silent judgment didn't help Beowolfmon feel better about his friendship with either of them. If it could be called that. In truth, they just had a common goal and nothing more.
"Wow…do you guys know anything about each other?" Terriermon asked. He hit the nail on the head so hard that Beowolfmon could feel the ache on the back of his head. It didn't help that all three of them were silent as they tried to come up with an answer that didn't make things worse.
"Suddenly, everything about you guys makes sense," Terriermon frowned as he turned back towards Conomon. "You guys are nothing at all like the last digidestined. They all got along. Well, except with Tamer. But I don't think any one can really get along with that guy."
"You said your partners were siblings. What does that mean?" Koichi asked.
"Are you dense? We were partners to a group of digidestined…well, I don't think they were officially digidestined. But they sure as hell could hold their own! My partner was Jiangliang. And Conomon's was his sister Xiaochun."
"What kind of names are those?" Koichi scratched his head.
"They're Chinese names," JetSilphymon answered knowledgeably.
"If those names are too tough for you, you could call them Henry and Suzie. Everyone else did," Terriermon teased.
Despite being teased like that, Koichi chose to ignore the remark and asked, "What were they like?"
"Xiaochun fun! Sing and play," Conomon answered. "But then dress up happened. That…not so fun."
"Henry was…way too serious. Kinda like your over there wolf boy," Terriermon pointed out before chuckling. "I guess he rubbed off on me a little. But I at least would always do something instead of standing around thinking about doing something. I guess that's where we differed. As for Lopmon, her partner was Henry's younger sister named Xiaochun. She was his opposite in every way! She always wanted to play and never ever seemed to run out of energy. Ever…no matter how long she played…"
Terriermon's voice shook as he uttered those words, trembling as he added, "Stupid dress up."
He wrapped his arms around himself, or as much as he could with those little nubs, and shivered frightfully as his face paled. Whatever thought he had put just as much derision on Conomon's face, making her shake in terror. It took both digimon a moment to collect themselves, "Sorry. Just thinking about it is a little traumatic."
"Sounds like your partners really put you through some stuff," Koichi said sympathetically.
"Huh? Oh no! It was just Xiaochun. I still have nightmares about all the frilly dresses," Terriermon shook. "Never mind that. If Lopmon is here, then that means Renamon could be here too!"
"And Gatomon," JetSilphymon added.
"Yeah, sure, whatever," Terriermon said, suddenly finding a nearby crib to be very interesting. Even Conomon suddenly found herself staring down at the blanketed crib.
JetSilphymon, "Come on you guys. I thought we came all this way to save Gatomon and Lopmon! So don't just go deciding you don't want to help out anymore!"
"Sound like Xiaochun," Conomon bounced up and down excitedly.
"I'm done with this conversation. I'm going to go find Renamon," Terriermon said, hurrying off towards the nearest basket and calling out, "Renamon! Renamon! Where are you?"
"He's pleasant," JetSilphymon sighed, just as she noticed RhinoKabuterimon's lumbering form finally catching up to her. He gasped for one large breath before finally collapsing to the ground.
"You've…gotta…slow down," the beetle panted, tilting his head towards JetSilphymon. "Some of us…don't get to…fly everywhere."
"Sorry JP," JetSilphymon scratched the back of her head. "I was distracted. We can sit here for a minute if you need to catch your breath."
"Yes…please," RhinoKabuterimon sank to the ground.
Daipenmon was getting tired of having to drag the stupid popsicle swords with him everywhere he went. Why didn't he have a way to holster them? If they weren't his weapons, he'd probably leave them behind and never look back. At the very least, he would've liked to give them a taste but he could see all the dirt and what he hoped was ketchup smeared all along the edge. Which sucked because he was so tired and really could go for some ice cream in the moment.
"Here, let me take that," Tamer said, casually taking one of the swords and lifting it over his shoulders with both arms. He almost toppled over but caught himself and steadied the sword across his shoulders. "You've been dragging it forever. This is the least I can do while you're stuck like this."
"Thanks," Daipenmon said wearily. "How much longer do we have to be stuck like this?"
"I wish I could say not much longer. But you'll have to do it until we put a stop to Lucemon," Tamer replied quietly.
"Don't you literally know everything that's supposed to happen?" Daipenmon protested against Tamer.
Tamer frowned, "I did. Then Lucemon's plan involved breaking reality by not doing what he was supposed to. I have no idea what's going to happen, now. Only what we have to do to keep things on track. And we can't assume that Lucemon won't be trying to work that back. Like the moon."
Tamer pointed upwards towards the vague outline of the moon that was slightly visible against the setting sun, "Lucemon was supposed to destroy the Digital World, and all the digimon in the Digital World would survive by going to the moon. I really doubt that's going to happen now because Lucemon will probably blow up the moon before destroying the world."
"That's really not very helpful," Daipenmon answered.
"You're telling me," Tamer frowned, gesturing ahead. "We should probably keep looking."
"Okay," Daipenmon sighed, following after Tamer as they continued their search. In truth, he had no idea what he was even supposed to be looking for. There were so many babies in baskets and none of them looked remotely like the cat-like Gatomon. If that's what Gatomon was supposed to look like. She was a cat who could turn into an angel, and he was a teddy bear that turned into an axe wielding giant then into a penguin with ice cream for weapons. Who knew what Gatomon's baby form was supposed to look like.
"This is going to take forever," Daipenmon sighed as they kept walking past all the cooing children all around them. "What are we looking for?"
"Hmmm," Tamer put a hand to his chin, seemingly forgetting he was holding the giant popsicle on his shoulders. He began to lean backwards from it and quickly corrected himself to keep from falling over. He offered an awkward smile towards the penguin as he quickly answered, "If memory serves, Gatomon's baby form is YukimiBotamon. A kind of…ball with…round ears? Hmm…oh! I know! Look for something that looks like the head of a teddy bear."
"Thank you for that mental image," Daipenmon replied, noting that several of the babies around him were starting to get teary eyed. "Oh crap."
All it took was one of the babies to start crying to get another to cry. From there, it cascaded into a chorus of wails as the children all collectively broke down into tears. And it didn't take long from there for Leomon to come charging in with his sword at the ready. "WHAT DID YOU DO!?"
Terriermon wandered through the endless cribs in search of Renamon's baby form. She had to be here somewhere. She just had to be. But where would that be? Where could that be? It really shouldn't have been this hard to find a yellow fox ball but it may as well have been with all the baby digimon there were.
"Renamon! Renamon!" Terriermon called out nervously, uncertain of where the digimon could have been.
"Keep it down! I'm sleepy!" A voice shouted back at him.
Terriermon turned his head towards one of the cribs and spotted a white fluff ball with little round ears glowering at him. Terriermon cursed his luck upon looking at the little digimon in front of him. It was a YukimiBotamon. Gatomon's baby form. And if this one was talking, that meant there was a very real chance this was Gatomon herself. Why did Terriermon have to be the ones to stumble upon her? "You've gotta be kidding me. Why did it have to be you?"
"I'm not happy either. Me try to seep," YukimiBotamon complained, turning her head away and trying to lay comfortably in the crib.
"I'm not sorry," Terriermon grumbled.
"Mean," YukimiBotamon answered with a stuck out tongue.
Terriermon really wanted to just walk away from this little blob and pretended he didn't see a thing. He was about to walk away when the memory of his partner and his sister came to mind. He imagined what they would think - what they would say if they were to see him abandoning another digimon like this. Then he remembered that Gatomon had a partner as well. What would she think if she saw what their partners had become?
Terriermon sighed as the thought continued to roll around inside of his head, guilting him into turning back towards YukimiBotamon, "Look. I'm sorry. I…you're Gatomon…right?"
YukimiBotamon stared up at him for a moment before giving a curt nod. Terriermon should've expected as much from the little ball and sighed, "Okay, so here's the deal. We need to get you back to the digidestined and to Seraphimon. We already found Cherubimon…well, Conomon now. But before I go do that, I want to find Renamon. Will you help me?"
YukimiBotamon continued to stare at him with those beady little eyes of hers before she finally asked, "Truce?"
That was enough for Terriermon, "Truce."
He scooped up the little white ball and placed her on his head, doing his best to balance the little baby with his short little arms. "Hang on tight. I'm usually the one not holding people in place."
"Would you believe nothing at all?" Daipenmon said to an unconvinced and quite angry Leomon. Daipenmon quickly pointed at Tamer, "Yeah, I thought not. Tamer did it! He said something that made the babies cry."
"Really?" Tamer groaned, dropping the popsicle onto the ground in disbelief. "Way to just throw me under the bus."
"What? You did! And he's got a sword!" Daipenmon pointed out.
"So do we!" Tamer countered.
"We have deserts!" Daipenmon spat back.
"ENOUGH!" Leomon roared at the top of his lungs, silencing the two digimon. He aimed his sword at Tamer specifically, pointing the tip of it so it was square with Tamer's face, "You can stop talking now. You two are going to help me calm these children down."
"Should be easy enough. Who wants ice cream?" Tamer asked, lifting up the giant popsicle for the baby digimon to lick. That alone was enough to catch their attention but Leomon disapproved, smacking it out of Tamer's hands so that it landed on the ground with a thud.
"That thing is disgusting! You will not be feeding that to the babies!" Leomon snapped. He moved towards the nearest crib and began rocking it gently until the digimon inside began to calm down. It was surprising to see how quickly Leomon was able to start calming the children. A warrior digimon who was as grizzled and violent as he was, somehow able to calm children with a few shushes and a gentle rocking.
Leomon was quick to growl with a low rumble that made the ground beneath their feet shake, "Are you going to stand there or are you two going to help me? These children need to be cared for!"
"On it!" Tamer jumped quickly, hurrying to go care for the nearest digimon.
Daipenmon wasn't about to argue the point and went towards the nearest baby crib to start rocking it. He rocked it as gently as he could while humming to the baby inside, but found that wasn't enough to actually calm the crying child. In fact, the child appeared to become more distressed because - the wailing growing louder with every passing second.
"He cry because hungie! Tummy hurt!" another baby digimon said behind him. This one was a small yellow blob with a big bushy tail growing out of its back.
Daipenmon blinked as he tried to figure out what to feed the child. It was still in a crib so milk was probably the thing to get. The only problem being that he had no milk to give the baby digimon.
"What do baby digimon even eat?" Daipenmon asked aloud. He could always ask Leomon, but then Leomon could answer my splitting him in half. He just seemed to be a perpetually angry digimon. Or maybe he was only angry at Tamer, and them because they were nearby Tamer.
"Milk. Nuts. Berries. Fish. Anything that's yummy," the little yellow digimon said.
"I uh…don't have any of that," Daipenmon said. "Hang on! Let me go ask-"
"Look out!" the Spirit shouted inside of his head. Daipenmon looked up in time to see a blast of water coming his way. He didn't know what came over him - whether it was instinct or blind luck - but he swung his sword over his head so that it landed in front of the crib to block the jet of water. Cool liquid splashed onto other cribs and drenched other babies. Some of them began laughing joyfully while others began to wail.
"What the hell was that?" Daipenmon said, looking down to make sure the little blob was safe. Thankfully, the child was unharmed although it began giggling excitedly at what it must've thought was just a game.
"Oh no! Danger! Danger!" the little yellow ball squeaked as a blue fish digimon came at at them from above to attack.
Ranamon. Daipenmon lifted up the giant popsicle with all his might to block Ranamon's leg just as she kicked down on them from above. The sheer force of the attack buckled the ground beneath his feet, and sent the crib with the little digimon in front of him flying. The baby wailed as they soared through the air, falling out of the crib and tumbling towards the ground.
"No!" Daipenmon shouted, trying to move to save the baby.
"Hey! I'm right here!" Ranamon hissed, kicking off the sword and spinning in the air to kick at Daipenmon from the side. This time he was too slow to react in time and was unable to move the sword to block the attack. The kick sent Daipenmon flying through the air into another tree.
He flailed, flapping his arms helplessly in the hopes that he would miraculously gain the power of flight. But nothing happened.
"We can't fly!" the Guardian Spirit shouted inside of his head, to little of his use. Of course they couldn't fly. Daipenmon could see that easily. What he couldn't see was a way out for them.
"I gotcha!" JetSilphymon's voice called, catching Daipenmon as he fell through the air. "Are you okay?"
"The baby!" Daipenmon shouted, pointing ahead towards the newborn baby digimon. At that exact moment, Leomon dashed out and caught the baby in one arm while brandishing his sword in the other. He landed just in front of the silver Dynasmon, and the two traded blows before leaping away from each other.
Leomon slid to a stop beside JetSilphymon and Daipenmon. "I knew this was a bad idea. This was why I didn't want anyone here in Primary Village! You always bring your fights with you."
"Our battle should be the least of your worries," Dynasmon warned. "All hail-"
He was cut off by a sudden sharp blow to the back of his head by the arrival of none other than Lucemon. Lucemon's expression was somehow more sour than it was before, and he glared down at Dynasmon. The most satisfied smile appeared on Lucemon's face as he dug his heel directly into the back of the knight's neck - all while he taunted, "I told you to knock it off with that worship crap. I don't care for it."
Even now, with their incredible power boost and with the voices of the Guardian Spirits inside of their heads, Daipenmon couldn't help but shake in Lucemon's presence. Something about him made the air fill with dread, as if it were dripping off of him. Even Leomon, who was intimidating in his own right, became uneasy at his presence.
"I'm…sorry," Dynasmon said sheepishly, attempting to crawl out from under Lucemon only for the angle to dig his heel deeper into Dynasmon's neck.
"If you were sorry, you would've stopped with that nonsense the first time," Lucemon seethed, pressing down harder on Dynasmon so that the knight choked and gasped for breath. The pleasure Lucemon was getting from Dynasmon's suffering made Daipenmon sick - and also angered him. To think that this was the digimon in his head telling him to do all of those things. That Lucemon did so pretending to be a Guardian Spirit. It made Daipenmon disgusted, not just with who he was in the past but also with what Lucemon was trying to make him.
"He made you do what?" Daipenmon heard the spirit inside his head ask in surprise. He didn't have to answer because just thinking about it was enough to communicate it. But that was only half true. Lucemon didn't make him do anything. He just put the idea in his head. Daipenmon was still the one choosing to do what he did. And it made him sick to think about it.
"Will you knock it off! You're disturbing the babies!" Tamer shushed Lucemon, appearing beside the angel. All eyes fell on Tamer who walked past the angel with a small fuzzy black digimon cradled in his arms, which he fed with a bottle full of milk. "Seriously! Do you know how long it's going to take to calm all these children down?"
"I see you're up to your antics, again," Lucemon seethed. "Hmmm, I wonder what happened to all of that fear you had before? I preferred all of it."
"You call it antics, I call it being a decent and caring person," Tamer remarked gruffly, rocking the baby in his arms as he continued pacing back and forth. He coddled the child. "There there! Drink up and grow big and strong! That's a good boy. Or girl. I really should've figured this out by now."
"What exactly is happening?" JetSilphymon asked.
"The Digimon Tamer is being The Digimon Tamer," Leomon grumbled, raising his sword up. "Tamer! If you're going to endanger your own life, the least you could do is not endanger the life of an innocent baby with you!"
"I would never," Tamer replied, gently resting the child back inside of their crib. "This is a Botamon. You of all digimon should know what they mean to me."
He patted the digimon once it was set down, and the little black fuzz ball burped loudly. Tamer smiled happily, then turned his attention back towards Lucemon. "Now then, are you going to help calm all these babies or are you going to go away?"
"I think you're refusing to take this seriously. As you always do. So allow me to set you straight," Lucemon answered, pointing a single finger up towards the sky. Towards the vaguely visibly shape of the moon. And then Lucemon's finger began to glow as a ball of light coalesced in it.
"You wouldn't dare," Tamer answered, his tone suddenly becoming serious.
"Are you joking?" Lucemon scoffed. "This isn't a game to me. This isn't a joke. This is my life. A predetermined destiny that I refuse to follow! I define my fate. Allow me to make sure it doesn't happen."
"STOP!" Tamer roared, just as the glowing ball in Lucemon's finger grew in size. "Execute! Fusion Evolution! Aldamon!"
A blast of light shot out of Tamer's digivice, wrapping him in flame. As the flames subsided, Aldamon jetted forward towards Lucemon - swatting his arm away just as it fired out the ball of light. The blast spiraled away out into the sky before disappearing. A silence followed as there was a bright flash of light in the sky high above them. The flash was followed by a brief pause, before the shockwave hit them. Even from so far away, the blast was enough to knock everyone backwards and send the cribs flying. Daipenmon, Leomon, and JetSilphymon were quick to rush into action - trying to catch as many of the cribs as they could before they crashed into the ground or the babies were hurt.
Lucemon reveled in the look of fear in Aldamon's eyes. Despite whatever tricks the Tamer liked to pull, Lucemon wanted to be sure the Ancient fully understood who was truly in control of the situation. He smiled devilishly at Aldamon and mocked, "Do I have your attention now? Or would you like to keep nurturing babies."
"You don't care, do you?" Aldamon asked. "As long as you live, you're going to destroy everything. Even if it means there's nothing left, that doesn't mean anything to you…does it?'
"Are you just now catching on to that?" Lucemon asked, barely restraining a laugh. "I thought it was pretty obvious that this was what I was doing. I was hardly being subtle about it. I'm going to burn this world and everything in it if it means I get to live."
"What about them?" Aldamon asked, tilting his head towards Ranamon and Dynasmon.
Lucemon scoffed, "What about them?"
"They're your allies!" Aldamon roared angrily.
"Oh is that what we're calling them now? That's rich coming from you, since you tend to use everyone around you as pawns," Lucemon mocked out loud, no longer restraining his laughter as he cackled at The Digimon Tamer. "I suppose that's something we've both always had in common. We have no issue using other people for our own ends. Consequences be damned, right?"
"Then why not just end it already?" Aldamon asked. "You could kill us all right now. It wouldn't even cost you anything. Just kill us all and be done with it. Break reality. Defy destiny! Live!"
Lucemon tried to remain calm. He could easily do all of that. It would save him a lot of trouble. But he head to remind himself that wasn't the plan. He wanted to live. And that would be very hard to do in a destroyed reality. No, their times would come. But it wouldn't be now.
"You don't really want to destroy reality, do you?" Aldamon asked, his eyes darting up and down Lucemon. "At least, if you did, you wouldn't be hesitating as much as you are now. We're here to stop you. I'm here to make sure destiny is fulfilled. So why don't you kill us? Its because you don't actually want to. Lucemon, the one who defied destiny and lives alone in a dead world."
"I think that's enough talk," Lucemon said, pulling his other arm back and swinging it towards Aldamon. Aldamon released his other arm and threw himself backwards from the attack.
Beowolfmon, RhinoKabuterimon, and Koichi finally reached the disturbance in time to see Aldamon leaping away from Lucemon. RhinoKabuterimon cursed under his breath, "What is he doing here?"
The answer was obvious as Beowolfmon side-eyed his brother, although he didn't want to think on what that meant. It seemed they had their confirmation now about how Lucemon was using the boy as an extra set of eyes and ears since the angel could no longer eavesdrop on any of them.
"That's Lucemon?" Koichi asked, holding Conomon in his arms. The little blob bobbed up and down in what appeared to be a nod.
Beowolfmon turned to his brother, worried about the question he was going to ask. Or rather of the answer he was going to receive. No, there was no reason to be upset over it if it was true. No, he had to ask the question. "Koichi, are you hearing voices in your head?"
Koichi gave him a quizzical look, "No? Should I?"
"No voices? You don't hear anything?" Beowolfmon asked.
"Besides you yelling at me? No," Koichi answered.
That was hardly a relief. How else would Lucemon know where to find them? Koji didn't want to consider the possibility, but it was just as possible that Koichi was simply being told not to mention that Lucemon was in his head. He was Duskmon after all.
No.
That couldn't be true. Beowolfmon wouldn't accept it, even if it were true. But the idea that his brother was under the control of Lucemon terrified him.
"We should probably jump in and help," RhinoKabuterimon suggested, just as Aldamon and Lucemon leapt towards each other. The two digimon traded blows with each other, but it was clear to see that Aldamon was outclassed in every way. He may have had the combined strength of Agunimon and BurningGreymon. But that wasn't a match for the sheer overwhelming power or speed of Lucemon. Even if Aldamon could get a strike in, it was obvious Lucemon was just using it to toy with him.
"I guess so," Beowolfmon frowned, brandishing his sword and running in to Aldamon's aid. "OVER HERE!"
Lucemon turned to face him with a smile, and used his hand to deflect Beowolfmon's arm so that the blade swung away from his body. Realizing that attacking would not be easily accomplished, he spun in the air to attack again with a swift kick from the leg. Once again, Lucemon deflected it casually by using an open palmed hand to guide his leg away towards Aldamon.
Lucemon now had two digimon on each side trying to attack him, and he barely seemed bothered by the two digimon attacking him from either side. And still, with the two of them on the attack, it seemed that neither of them were able to pose any kind of threat to Lucemon. Even without him being able to tell what they were going to do before they did it.
"Scream!" the Spirit said inside Beowolfmon's head, just as he heard a loud roar echo inside of his mind. He didn't know why the Guardian Spirit was screaming but the noise was distracting for him. And from the way Aldamon and the others were slowing down, he could only presume that they were hearing it too.
Then Beowolfmon noticed Lucemon clutching as his head and recoiling away from them both. He leered at them both and sneered, "So that's what you were planning!"
"Oh, I get it. Having that many Guardian Spirits screaming back at you has to be distracting," Beowolfmon reasoned.
"Scream back at this!" Lucemon roared, charging straight at them.
Terriermon raced onto the scene holding YukimiBotamon on his head, just as another blast rocked Primary Village and knocked him onto his butt. It was only because he held on to YukimiBotamon with all of his might that he didn't end up falling face down onto the ground. He looked up around him to see Lucemon engaged in battle with Beowolfmon and Aldamon. RhinoKabuterimon, JetSilphymon, and Daipenmon were engaged in a fight with Dynasmon, while Leomon traded blows with the fish Ranamon. But there was no sign of Mercurymon anywhere, which made Terriermon nervous.
"There! There!" YukimiBotamon said excitedly. Terriermon looked at what the little ball was bouncing at and he saw the familiar yellow foxtail of Renamon. It was attached to an equally small yellow ball, which meant that had to be Relemon. Renamon's baby form.
"RENAMON!" Terriermon cried, running forward towards her. He didn't care that they were in the middle of a fight. Or that he was holding Gatomon's baby form on his head. He was just glad to see her. Relieved that she'd been reborn in Primary Village. Unfortunately for him, he was stopped just as the green mirror digimon Mercurymon slid in front of him.
"You'll have to hand the child over to me," Mercurymon said, holding his hand out.
Author's Notes: Terriermon has been cornered by Mercurymon. Will the others notice in time to help him? Is Koichi being possessed by Lucemon against his knowledge? What is Lucemon really planning? The answers to all this and more will come out…never.
As of today, Friday November 10th, 2023, The Tamerverse is effectively concluded with no further updates planned. It was a fun ride writing this for all of you dear readers and I hope you enjoyed the ride while it lasted. I'm sorry to announce it this way, but I'd prefer this to leaving it on a cliffhanger and telling people the story will eventually continue. In truth, life has gotten the better of me and I've found it hard to find time to focus on writing when I have career advancement, wedding planning, and family matters that require my attention. I wish I could say more than that but I wouldn't feel comfortable sharing beyond what I've already said. That's not to say I'm stopping writing period. I'll still drop fics and projects around Archive of Our Own and Fanfiction as the ideas come to me. But I probably won't tackle a project this big again any time soon. Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed the ride while it lasted. If any of you would like to know more about the story and how it would've concluded, feel free to reach out to me and I'll share what I'm willing to. There were a lot of story threads I set up and even more story threads I hadn't even got to hint at or fully explore yet.
Thanks for being with me all this time! So for one more time, this is leonardo1123581321 signing out!
