Chapter 40
We have arrived at Dendemille Town, there is a Contest held there and I decide to enter for my final ribbon. Eevee wants to participate in the Contest this time so I use her in the Appeal Rounds. Then in the battle rounds, it is mostly Gourgeist, and in the end, I win my final ribbon and learn that the Grand Festival is held in Anistar City.
Now it is Serena's turn for her Showcases, and when we get there, we are surprised to find Miette. "Long time no see, everyone." She greets, and she also has a male Meowstic.
"So you're entering the Pokemon Showcase too?" I ask.
"Of course. How could I not enter?" Miette asks.
"I'm not surprised." Serena says. Just then, Miette moves forward and says, "You cut your hair. So why did you do that? Something big happens in your life?"
Serena blushes and yells, "What are you talking about? Forget that! I'm all ready to compete in this performance. And I'm not going to lose like I did with the Poke Puffs!"
"Well, the same goes for me." Miette says. "Now hear this! We're going to settle things once and for all! And remember I told you I might have a chat with Ash."
A chat with me? I see that Serena is really fired up, and this time Scarlet is not here, so I don't need to feel sorry if I take Serena's key like before.
The theme round for this time is the Poke Puff bake-off, with only one out of three in each group of participants being allowed to proceed. Gena, Pokémon Connoisseur Santo, and Showcase Expert Delilah will be judging.
Miette is up first along with two other participants, and she wastes no time in using Slurpuff's superior senses to choose ingredients and Meowstic's Psychic to help in mixing. At the end of the round, the Poké Puffs are brought to the judges for Santo's Mime Jr., Gena's Jigglypuff, and Delilah's Furfrou to sample; Miette is declared the winner.
"She's good." Elline says.
But all this time I'm trying to stop Chesnaught from rushing up to the stage for those Poke Puffs, I know that Miette and Serena can win this.
Finally, it's Serena's turn to compete. Trying to keep a cool head, Serena assigns Lucario to mix and Pikachu to bake. By the end of the round, the judges comment that all three participants have performed excellently, making for a difficult decision. Worried, Serena shuts her eyes tightly as the spotlights move across the stage, finally landing on her much to her surprise and joy.
Moving onto the next segment, Miette is the second to perform, and she has Meowstic lift Slurpuff into the air with Psychic as the latter uses Cotton Spore, casting a circle of sparkly dust over her.
Next is Serena's turn, we don't know what is going on, but her dress seems to be changed... This time she's using Pangoro and Delphox, and Serena begins with a dance with Pangoro, Serena has Pangoro use Dark Pulse to scatter purple sparkles around them as Delphox summons pillars of fire while she dances, surrounding the three of them with flames and sparkles. Pangoro follows up with Stone Edge, which breaks apart into more sparkles as Delphox leaps onto them, and the two Pokémon finish with another collision of Dark Pulse and Flamethrower.
At the conclusion of the Showcase, Pierre requests that the audience vote for their favorite contestant. And of course, Serena is the winner and we know it all. After getting outside, Serena says, "I'm sorry I tore the outfit Valerie gave me... I guess I should tell her how sorry I am."
She explains how one of the performers accidentally trips her, and the performer was also guilty about it. I say, "You know, it really looked great on you!"
Serena says, "Oh, thank you, Ash."
Miette then comes and says, "I may have lost today, but I'll win the next time! I'll see you then." Then they shake hands and then she leaves and Serena mutters, "Geez..."
The next day, as we are going to set off, we find Professor Sycamore and Dexio there. "Why hello, guys!"
"How have you been?" Dexio asks. "How's your journey going?"
"It's great, thanks for asking." David says.
"You see, when I was younger, I visited many different regions as well." Sycamore says. "I met many kinds of Pokemon and noticed how each place has its own distinct flavors. So, I really came to enjoy trying new foods as I traveled. Because of my adventures, I'm an expert on the cafes all over Kalos."
"Um... Professor..." Dexio says.
"Come now, Dexio. I'm going somewhere with this. Do you remember the Pokemon Lysandre mentioned in that cafe?"
"Of course...he's talking about Xerneas and Yveltal, right?" I ask.
"According to material I've read, those who saw them were so overwhelmed by their power, that they were only able to say that these Pokemon resemble the letters X and Y. Apparently, Xerneas can control energy and Yveltal will absorb energy. Xerneas gives life energy to plants and Pokemon and makes them full of vitality again. While Yveltal's life span is said to be 1000 years. When it reaches the end of its life, it steals all of the spirits around it."
"Wherever do you think a Pokémon that amazing could be now?" Dexio asks.
"When Kalos' Legendary Pokemon loses all of its vitality, it goes to sleep in a secret place. I don't have a clue where it could be. The writings that mention it are also around a thousand years old, so they aren't much help."
I say, "Professor. I want to say, Xerneas is now asleep in Allearth Forest, and Yveltal is now by my side."
This causes them to be surprised. Dexio asks, "You caught Yveltal? That's absolutely astounding."
"I'm glad that you shared this with me. But your journey is yours and your Pokemon alone. I want you to enjoy yourself and do whatever you'd like!" After they leave, Trevor also rushes to us and asks, "Um... Is the Professor gone already? I was hoping to have him have a look at my Pokédex in person. Oh well, I can still get my Pokédex evaluated at a Pokémon Center's PC... Anyway, I'm heading off to go look for Pokémon in Frost Cavern and fill up more of my Pokédex!"
"Frost Cavern..." I mutter. Then we decide to check out around the town and since I show a boy our Super-sized Gourgeist, I got a Nugget in return, then we decide to go to the Frost Cavern with Trevor.
But when we arrive there, we find a trainer with a Mamoswine and he asks, "Is something wrong in the Frost Cavern, Mamoswine?" Then he notices us and asks, "Are you headed to the Frost Cavern, trainers?"
"So what's about it?" I ask.
"This Mamoswine here usually can't get enough of giving people rides on Route 17, but... These days, it seems to be too worried about something in the Frost Cavern to give rides."
"Mamoswine is a Pokémon that loves cold climates. So maybe it sensed something amiss in the Frost Cavern." Trevor says.
Then we decide to search for what is going on in the Frost Cavern, and as we explore the cave, we are amazed at the sight and I find a Bergmite. "Hey, a Bergmite! How about we capture it?"
"Alice and Lillie will be thrilled to have another Ice Type Pokemon." Serena says.
And while we use Amaura to battle, there is a double evolution for both Bergmite and Amaura. Considering that it is night time... we capture the Avalugg in the end.
Aurorus: The Tundra Pokemon: Rock and Ice Type. Evolve from Amaura at LV:39 during nighttime. The diamond-shaped crystals on its body expel air as cold as -240 degrees Fahrenheit, surrounding its enemies and encasing them in ice.
Bergmite: The Ice Chunk Pokemon: Ice Type. Using air of -150 degrees Fahrenheit, they freeze opponents solid. They live in herds above the snow line on mountains.
Avalugg: The Iceberg Pokemon: Ice Type. Evolve from Bergmite at LV:37. Its ice-covered body is as hard as steel. Its cumbersome frame crushes anything that stands in its way.
This Frost Cavern is where we can evolve Eevee, but Eevee already decides that she wants to become a Sylveon, so we have to give her the Everstone for now so that she won't evolve, and when we arrive at the third floor, we finally find the reason of Mamoswine's unease feeling. Team Flare is here.
"This Abomasnow is a fine specimen! It's absolutely brimming with energy." There is a fourth scientist of Team Flare, who dresses similarly to Aliana, Bryony, and Celosia. "The more we agitate it, the stronger its Snow Warning Ability becomes, making the snow fall even more furiously. Let's catch it swiftly and get out of here!"
"Hey! You Poké Ball thieves! What are you doing here?!" Trevor yells.
"What does it look like? We're catching Pokémon. Why else would we have grabbed all of those Poké Balls? It was all so we could catch powerful Pokémon like this Abomasnow. It's full of potent energy!" The scientist says.
"Energy?" We ask, and the scientist turns around and faces us. "You're not the brightest one, are you? Whoever has the most Pokémon and the most energy will come out on top! Lazy people who just wait for things to be handed to them don't get to have these resources!"
"But why is Team Flare amassing Pokémon, energy, and money? To put it another way, why is Team Flare always trying to take everything for itself?" David asks.
"Allow me to spell it out for you! It's so Team Flare-and only Team Flare-can survive! After all, why should we care about saving people who aren't on our side? Anyway, I don't mind a healthy curiosity, but I'm afraid I just don't have any more time for you."
Then Trevor says, "Did they say only Team Flare will survive? These people have a few screws loose..."
Then they try to attack us with Pokemon, but we battle them and defeat their Pokemon, Trevor also shows us that his Charmander also evolves into a Charmeleon, much to our delight.
"Hmm... You're more powerful than you look. I wonder how much energy there is inside you." The scientist named Mable says.
She uses a Houndoom, so we use Aurorus to battle. Aurorus manage to defeat Houndoom and Mable says, "Hrmph! I've no patience for losing. Let's get out of here!"
After Team Flare escapes, Trevor says, "Doesn't battling with Team Flare scare you? I'll admit it scares me. I don't like battling them... But we managed to protect Abomasnow by pitching in there. I know I'm the reserved type, and I'm OK with that, but it's important to be bold when necessary. Mamoswine doesn't have to worry about Abomasnow anymore, and that's what matters. All's well that ends well!"
After Trevor leaves, the Abomasnow wants to thank us, and much to our surprise, he gives us two Mega Stones. A Scizorite and an Abomasite. With two more Pokemon capable of Mega Evolving, we are delighted and we thank him as we leave the cavern.
Route 17 is known as the Mamoswine Road, and we can rent Mamoswine so we can go to Anistar City. We also learn that there is another Showcase in Anistar City so Serena wants to participate in it.
As we ride on the Mamoswine, the road is really steep and snowy. Serena being Grace's daughter is able to calm Mamoswine as it gets comfortable and we reach the top. However, as we try to cross the bridge, Serena is scared as the bridge is shaking.
"Calm down, Serena." I try my best to comfort her, and we continue moving when the wind stops. And after we finally reach the end goal, we thank the Mamoswine and we head to Anistar City. But on our way, our Tyrunt also evolves into a Tyrantrum after playing with Bonnie.
Tyrantrum: The Despot Pokemon: Rock and Dragon Type. Evolve from Tyrunt at LV:39 during daytime. Thanks to its gargantuan jaws, which could shred thick metal plates as if they were paper, it was invincible in the ancient world it once inhabited.
Here is a new chapter, and in this chapter, it wraps up the Dendemille Town, Route 17, and Frost Cavern. The next chapter will be Anistar City and I hope you like this chapter.
