Hey guys. I want to thank the reviewers for my last chapter and for how things have been going in my life. Your thoughts are deeply appreciated and I mean that. And now we're gonna move on closer towards the end of the story and coming up on one of my personal favorite scenes in the movie. Now with that, let's get the disclaimer out of the way. I don't own Drake, Geoff, Mansel, Master Kwan or Lin. Only Universale studios own them. I only own Kalias, her daughter and Drake's sweetie Baixin.
As I wake up, I sigh in happiness. I am glad Colt and I got to have that time together. I look at my husband's bare chest and decide to cuddle him for a bit longer. I don't know how much longer I doze off for but the second time, I wake up to Colt kissing me like out of one of those fairy tales. I kiss him back and smile.
"Hmm good morning," I chuckle as I cup his cheek.
"It's more like mid-afternoon, but-" He starts to correct me.
"I slept that late?! Oh Laia! She's got to be starving," I immediately sit right up.
"Whoa whoa easy I took care of her. You remember Gretch, Ravage's wife? She agreed to be the wet nurse for Laia while you were sleeping."
"She did? Ohh ok good," I sigh as I flop back onto the bed and rubs the sleep from my eyes, "I'll have to remember to stop by to thank her. But for now, I better go see if Laia is hungry again. My chest hurts."
I get dressed in my regular dress and make my way to Drake's room. Colt follows behind to close the gate and then moves forward with the torch to light our way.
"Drake? Geoff are you down here," I call out and then hear Drake coming our way.
"Kalias hi," He smiles as he holds Laia in his paw.
"Hi. And hello to you my sweet little one," I coo and nuzzle her as I take her and then feel her pulling on my dress," I figured. Hold on."
I sigh as I undo the top of my dress to let her feed and then look around for Geoff.
"Where's Geoff?"
"I don't know. I've been waiting but he hasn't shown up yet," Drake shrugs and then returns to his bed to read that book, "Wait. No no no what?!"
"What's the matter," Cold asks and comes over.
"This-this can't be right. These knights are hurting dragons!"
"What," I ask and come over to look too. And there on almost every page is an image of knights on horses lancing dragons. Some have a shield and are stabbing them in the hearts. One image has a knight holding a dragon's head by the horns with blood dripping out the neck. Seeing those images makes my blood boil with disgust.
"Ok that's enough of that," Colt says and slams the book closed.
"Hey Drake," Geoff calls out and comes running down the stairs, "I'm sorry I didn't come home last night but look what Lord Osric gave me!"
"But weren't we supposed to go flying this morning," Drake asks him as he glances at the new sword in Geoff's hand.
"Well yeah but I got a lot to learn if I'm gonna be a knight. And Lord Osric says I'm very close to completing my training," Geoff says with enthusiasm as he practice slashes his sword a few times and then through the candles.
"Geoff, you're not planning on being a knight like the ones that are in this book are you," Colt asks him and then holds up the book in question.
"Course I am Colt," Geoff says as he knocks the cut tops off the candles," Just like them. Hey come on. Master Kwan told me to tell you that he's gonna teach Drake something new today and he's got a new lesson for your powers too Kalais.
"Geoff wait a second," I start to call to him but he just ignores me and goes right back up the stairs. I sigh as I watch him go and then cover myself before patting Laia's back to burp her.
Drake growls a bit and then gets up, "I don't want to see that book again."
"Consider it gone," Colt coldly says and then tosses the book into the fire pit in disgust.
"Good riddance," I glare and then collect my bow and arrows and then my own sword. As we come out of Drake's room, I see Master Kwan is there along with Lin and Mansel waiting on us.
"Hello," I greet them and then I notice that Baixin isn't around, "Where's Baixin?"
"She went for a fly and then to hunt this morning. She is waiting for us in the spot I want to show you," Master Kwan explains and then gets the horses for us.
Drake sniffs around and then flies ahead of us. I chuckle as I watch him fly off. I understand that he would want to meet with her. She is a beautiful girl. I shake my head and then get on the horse.
"Mansel are you going to join us?"
"Yes I want to make sure Drake is safe with his training. Since the last time didn't go as planned."
"This isn't going to be like last time," Lin says as she mounts up behind Master Kwan, "There will be no fire today for Drake and we're going up there."
She points to the mountain, and I immediately know where we are going. There's a place by a lake that would be perfect if we were to do any fire training at all. We do need to leave the horses at one part and then go on foot the rest of the way but it's not hard terrain. I make sure that Laia is bundled up as she is fussing a bit from the change in temperature as we ride up. Overhead, I heard Drake's wingbeats and then I see Baixin's form pass over us. I am still amazed that there's another dragon alive. She is so unique. And I am also happy that she and Drake like each and are spending time together. My baby brother is growing up. It doesn't take us long to get to the lake after we tie up the horses by a stream. Drake glides down to land on a rock.
"Is there something wrong with the air up here," Drake asks as he looks around.
"If Friar Peter or Kalias ever let you open your windows in the winter you'd know," Geoff looks at me and rolls his sleeve up, "It's fog."
"They didn't want him to catch cold. And we should get back down before Drake gets sick," Mansel frowns as he holds his hands in his sleeves for warmth.
"You now have a sense of your fire lung. Your ice lung is located right next to it," Master Kwan explains, "Do you know how to regenerate sputum?"
"Huh," Geoff looks in confusion.
"He means do you know how to spit," Colt says and takes Laia from me so I can train as well.
"Then why didn't he just say so? Like this Drake," Geoff mutters and then spits quite a distance into the lake.
"Oh that was very good," Lin compliments him.
"Sputum mixed with air from your ice lung will come out frozen," Master Kwan explains to Drake.
"Sounds easy to me," Geoff shrugs.
"You don't even have an ice lung," Drake frowns at him.
"Well I don't have wing either but I figured out how to land."
"I will not stand by and let you berate him like that," Mansel snaps at him.
"Well what are you going to do Mansel? Whip me with your tassel," Geoff jokes and then yelps in pain.
"No but I will," I say as I grab his shirt and give him another smack on the butt.
"Ow Kalias! Stop," Geoff blushes in embarrassment and covers his behind.
"Then be nice," I warn him and then let go as Mansel just walks off.
"I can't make spit," Drake says.
"Just suck on your tongue," Geoff says and then rubs the sting out.
Then Drake does so but then he also drools right on Geoff. That makes me giggle and Colt as well.
"Oh come on you did that on purpose!"
"Ha ha serves you right," I laugh at him.
"Ok I got some spit in my mouth," Drake mutters.
"Breathe into your ice lung through your nose and then blow," Master Kwan instructs and points forward.
Drake does so but instead of coming out as ice, he just lets out a big spit wade. And it's heading right for Mansel!
"Mansel watch out," All of us yell out.
"Huh," He looks at us and then yelps when the spit hits him right in the face.
"Oh no I killed him," Drake bites his claw.
"I don't think so but let's check him," Colt pats his leg and starts running.
"Mansel," Lin calls out as she is fastest of us and gets to him first.
As we get to him, I see he is covered all over his head and shoulders in dragon spit now frozen. He is shaking as we help him stand up.
"Are you ok," Geoff asks in concern.
"I'm going back to the monastery before I get sick," Mansel declares and shivers.
"Here take my robe," Master Kwan says as he puts his robe around him.
"Thank you," Mansel says and then starts leaving.
As he walks out of view, I can't help giggling. It was kind of funny once the shock wears off. Everyone else starts to laugh as well except Drake. Drake's groan snaps me out of it. And the look of disappointment on his face breaks my heart.
"I failed again! I can't do anything right! I'm nothing like Draco. I'm a useless dragon," Drake yells and then flies off.
"Drake wait," Baixin yells out and then chases after him.
"Drake! Oh here we go again," I groan and then look at Master Kwan, "I'll be back for my lessons in a bit. I need to go to him."
"I understand. Go," He says and dismisses me.
I bow to him and then run after the dragons on foot. I feel like this is getting to be a habit and it's not the first time I really really wish Papa was here.
