Chapter Two Life Throws the Curveball

XXXXXX

The clouds were gray as the rain continued to pour from them. Lightning danced in the skies as wind, water and lightning swirled around two friends, now bitter enemies, who faced off against one another in a life and death Struggle in the Valley of the End.

On one side stood Uchiha Sasuke, once a member of the Village Hidden in the Leaves… who had chosen to defect to the village's enemy, Orochimaru, in an attempt to gain power to avenge his clan and kill the one responsible, his older brother.

On the other side stood Uzumaki Naruto, Sasuke's only friend. Naruto was the village pariah, the container of a titanic beast known as the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox. Naruto was hated and loathed by many for circumstances beyond his control. Despite being so lonely and growing up without a family, Naruto did not let this get the better of him. He chose to look forward to one day becoming the leader of his village, and protecting those who were closest to him.

Sasuke was his friend. They never got along with one another; they always had a fierce, competitive steak. Yet, they both acknowledged in their hearts that while they were the fiercest rivals, they were friends in their own way. And Naruto was determined to save his friend from the darkness in his own soul.

The Uchiha stood atop his ancestor's statue, Uchiha Madara. The Uzumaki stood atop the head of the statue of the First Hokage, Senju Hashirama who was considered the strongest shinobi of his era… and possibly, the strongest of all time.

Both combatants stood ready to decide their struggle and battle with a final, decisive move. Sasuke was using the Cursed Seal bestowed upon him by Orochimaru. He had pushed the seal to Level 2, as he was unable to gain any true, decisive ground against Naruto. Sasuke's skin was gray and his eyes had turned black. His hair had become wilder and spikier, and he had grown wings while scales covered his body. In this form, his strength and speed has increased drastically.

As for Naruto, he needed to tap into the Fox's power to compete with his shinobi skills being pitiful and weak compared to Sasuke. Tapping into the Fox's power allowed him to access a "Level One" version of its power. Naruto was covered in a poisonous, acidic, red shroud of the fox's power. He had manifested a tail of pure red chakra and had become more feral. His eyes were red, his canines more pronounced, and his blonde hair shaggier and spikier.

This power that he had gained access to was allowing him to compete with Sasuke on equal grounds. However, this power had tremendous drawbacks. He was able to retain his mind and mental focus as well as gain access to greater raw strength, speed, power, and durability. However, this power was also damaging his body little by little. And with the damage being caused, it was speeding up his healing, causing his lifespan to shorten ever so slightly. Relying on the Fox was proving to be a double-edged sword, but Naruto could do nothing about it. He needed to bring Sasuke back and keep his promise.

And then… it was Sasuke who spoke.

"I will give you credit, Naruto. You truly are my equal. You are worthy of me putting on this headband. After all, it means that two Konoha Shinobi are putting their pride and lives on the line to achieve their goals."

Naruto was silent as he continued to listen to Sasuke talk.

"Do you know something, Naruto? This place… the Valley of the End is where the Shodai Hokage fought Uchiha Madara. The two most powerful ninja of their era had fought here in this valley. Their battle was so great, that this entire valley was changed by it. Two statues were made to honor the two warriors who fought in this valley.

Naruto looked on. "Where is this going, Sasuke?"

"This is where it is going. On that day, Uchiha Madara lost… and winners are the only ones that are remembered. On this day… there will be a different outcome. This time, an Uchiha will have his hand raised. And you will be kissing the dirt."

Naruto chuckled. "You gonna talk or fight?"

Sasuke smiled. "You are right. There is no need to talk. We will settle our rivalry here and now."

Sasuke gathered chakra in his dominant hand as it went from blue to a black-gray. The Chidori was morphed due to the influence of Senjutsu Chakra… and had become a completely different technique of greater power.

Naruto simply raised out his dominant hand and smiled… as a swirling torrent of blue energy formed itself into a sphere. Only this time, the sphere was blood red. It was time for the Chidori and Rasengan to clash once again.

Time stood still for both combatants as they sized one another up. The crack of lightning could be heard throughout the sky as the rain continued to pour. At last, after a leaf fell in the water, the two combatants launched themselves towards the other with a roar.

The Black Chidori and The Vermillion Rasengan clashed. As the two attacks collided with one another, shock waves filled the area as powerful, violent, malevolent chakra began to surge all around them, boiling the water and crushing the ground.

Naruto and Sasuke refused to let up with their respective attacks. Both attacks were so powerful that the surrounding space was beginning to warp. The Nine-Tails refused to lose to anyone… and Sasuke refused to lose his chance to gain more power.

All of a sudden, a void began to form around both combatants. Fierce winds swirled around the both of them, and it had a mind of its own. The wind violently pushed Sasuke back as he crashed into a rock formation, knocked out. As for Naruto, the vortex of wind began pulling him further and further into the void as he was swallowed up as the void disappeared in a brilliant flash.

As the last second-last Uchiha alive lay on the ground, unconscious, the Host of the Nine-Tails no longer was in the Elemental Nations… and off to parts unknown. He was now on a new path and new journey… one that would shape his existence forever.

The winds had sucked Naruto in the void and he found himself inside a "hellscape" of sorts. He was clad in the "Level 2" version of the Fox's power as he tried to make sense of where he was. It was pitch black and it seemed he was surrounded by nothingness. Naruto tried to move around and thought he was getting somewhere. With everything being pitch black, he could not make heads or tails of where to go.

And then, something changed his situation drastically. He could feel chakra, chakra so violent and evil… and powerful, that he could not believe it existed. Inside the pitch-black darkness, a weird, purple light began to shine as Naruto saw a red eye staring at him… and teeth.

Naruto growled, consumed by the Fox's sheer hate as he roared at this mysterious presence. The mysterious presence laughed and chuckled, which made Naruto angry. It then spoke… and the voice was grating and Naruto cringed at the sound of it.

"Yes, good. I want you to feel the hate flow through you. My new slave and host should not be weak."

Naruto scoffed. "You must be out of your mind. I am no one's slave."

The mysterious eye spoke again. And Naruto was appalled by the hate and venom dripping from its words. This… whatever it was, its hate was greater than the Nine-Tails itself.

"You will always be a slave… humans are capable of committing great atrocities and suffering towards their fellow man. And the creature inside of you knows this truth very well. Our hatred of humans runs thick. To think that humans found a way to imprison us to be used as weapons… it angers me."

Naruto searched for the fox in his mind to try to speak to him… and for the first time, he saw alertness and a smidgen of fear on his face. This did not make sense. This situation was ludicrous. What exactly was going on here?"

"Do you see it now, child? Do you see the reality? The beast inside of you understands my power… and is right to fear it. After all, he is a part of me. That creature inside of you makes up a fraction of my titanic strength. You can never comprehend what I am. You never will be able to."

Naruto shook his head. "You know nothing about me."

The voice chuckled and it filled Naruto with fear. "I know everything about you. You were born ignorant… and you will die as an ignorant failure. You know nothing about anything. You have no idea that it was your parents that ruined your very life."

Naruto's stomach dropped as he heard this. "What… what did you say?"

"Why do you think the Yondaime Hokage sealed the Fox within a newborn? You didn't seem to think or question that you two look like mirror images of one another? You are his spawn… that is why he chose to ruin your life. The man had no interest in being a parent… and neither was your mother. What kind of parent would willingly choose blind nationalism over their own flesh and blood… and expect said flesh and blood to have a good life?"

A tear fell from Naruto's eye as he had no idea what to think. Did his parents really do this to him? All the hard looks, all the taunts and horrible words; did they really choose to sacrifice him for the village? Was his life that meaningless to them?"

"You wish to know something, brat? A Jinchurriki can survive the extraction of its Tailed Beast if said Tailed Beast is sealed back inside the host. Your father seemed to value a village full of hypocrites and scum over his own child; such is the result of blind nationalism. In the end, humans kill and kill over and over. They are maggots, spouting hypocrisy and ideals and values while they stab each other in the back. Such a foolish notion that the world can be cured if the system changes. Humans are what they are… and there is no such thing as peace… because you maggots do not desire it and that is fine… because I will destroy you all."

Naruto had lost it. "What… WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU!"

"I… I am the reckoning of humanity. I am here to end the borrowed time your species has been living on. You… will serve as my new host. I will erode your mind with my own and absorb you and the remnant of my power. And together… we will unleash and inferno upon this new world."

"You are insane! You are pure evil. You are not taking my body. I am kicking your fucking ass!"

"Oh, sweet child! You do not even realize it… you have already lost to me!"

The mysterious voice then manifested several hundred arms that began to latch on to Naruto. Naruto clawed, scratched, and bit these arms trying to harm him, but it was of no use. Every time he destroyed an arm with his hands or a Rasengan, ten more would grow in its place. Naruto was being squeezed and constricted on both sides as he was being dragged towards something.

However, Uzumaki Naruto was not the giving up type. He had an iron will… and the guts to never give up. It did not matter to him what kind of news he just received. He was not going to go out like this, becoming fodder and nutrients for a freak. He did not fight the loneliness of his life to end up like this.

The arms of this mysterious presence kept getting larger and more numerous. He was flooded with an intense amount of killing intent as Naruto realized that this creature was not normal. It was beyond his understanding. And its power was unlike anything he had ever felt before.

Still, he would go out swinging on his shield, as best as he could.

The mysterious presence simply laughed. "It is too late, human trash. You do not have the power to resist me. I will take your body and wreak havoc upon everything. Everything is mine!"

Before Naruto or The Mysterious Presence could do anything… something miraculous happened. Naruto's body began to glow as numerous chains came out of his body and began to constrict and slash the arms surrounding Naruto. The Mysterious Presence was enraged.

"Impossible! This power… it stems from my own. How can such trash exist to defy me and my will!"

It was then that Naruto heard a voice that seemed oddly familiar. A person manifested in front of him. A housewife with red hair appeared and raised her hands, unleashing blue energy as she kept the presence at bay.

"I have heard enough out of you. Get your hands off my baby!"

Naruto was shocked. "Baby… you must be…"

The Redhead had tears in her eyes as she spoke to him. "I am sorry, Naruto. Yes, I am your mother… or what is left of her. I wish… I wish we had more time. There is so much I wish to tell you, so much that I wish I could have changed for you. You should have… you should have grown up with family, with parents. I am pissed at your father for the decisions he made with your life. I… there is something you must know."

"Me and your father, we love you more than you'll ever know. You were not born as an obligation; you were born out of love and the act of love. Do not listen to this monster. Humans make mistakes… some greater than others. Yet, never doubt the love we have for you. I am sorry… so sorry you had to bear this burden. This is the last thing I ever wanted for you, to live life in pain… and to be ripped from your home. In the afterlife, your father has a lot to answer for."

"I am sorry that our time has been cut short. I wish I could embrace you, hold you, tell you stories and give you hugs and kisses. I hate that I cannot do that. However, I can do this. I will send you away from this "hellscape", to a place where you can grow and hopefully be happy. It was love, Naruto, that kept the darkness at bay for me. I know you will find love and happiness."

"If there is nothing else you can remember about our conversation today… please know this much. What is and will always be the greatest thing closest to my heart- you and your father. Be well my child, and live your life with pride! After all, you are the son of the Yondaime Hokage and Uzumaki Kushina, the Red-Blooded Habanero!"

Kushina raised her hands and performed a numerous number of seals as Naruto was being pushed into a white light. Naruto had tears in his eyes as he yelled out for his mother.

"Wait… Please! Please come back… do not leave me!"

"NO! I WILL NOT BE DENIED! I WILL FIND YOU! YOU WILL NEVER ESCAPE ME!"

Naruto closed his eyes as he was consumed by a white light. Neither Kushina nor Naruto truly knew where he would end up. His new journey would begin in the Feudal Era… a dimension unlike any other, familiar, yet wholly different. It was in this dimension where Uzumaki Naruto would find love with the most unusual of people… and demon and half-demon alike. And Naruto would come to wield powerful weapons and battle the greatest of foes.

Witness the journey of a knucklehead, a time traveling woman from Japan, a cold, demure priestess with a heart of gold, and a half demon and full-blooded demon. Life is never going to be the same.

Feudal Era- Kikyo's Village

The Feudal Era was an interesting place. Ruled by samurai and nobility… the people truly did not know of the secret wars being waged behind the scenes. The land and its people were troubled and assaulted and murdered by powerful, supernatural creatures known as demons.

Some were lowly creatures, while others took on humanoid shapes. There were full blooded and even half-demons, the union of demon and human kind. Prejudice and evil existed in these lands as many wished to simply just live in peace. To combat these demons who thirsted for the Sacred Jewel, demon slayers, priests, and priestesses took charge of battling these foes.

Little was known about the woman known as Kikyo. Her parents had died a few years after her sister Kaede was born. She had pursued the life of a priestess to protect her sister, who chose to do the same. Both sisters traveled the countryside slaying demons. It was in her travels she met the Priestess Tsubaki, who placed a curse on her, telling her that she would die a horrible death if she chose to fall in love. Kikyo thought nothing of her or her curse.

Time had passed as one day; a group of demon slayers had brought the Sacred Jewel of the Four Souls to her to safeguard and protect. The Sacred Jewel possessed an unfathomable darkness that no one could understand or predict. Kikyo dedicated her life to safeguarding and protecting the Sacred Jewel, both from demons and wicked humans. This duty was a terrible one, as Kikyo could not show her emotions, nor could she enjoy the simplest pleasures of her youth.

One night during the Full Moon, she encountered a female Half-Demon named Inuyasha who sought the Jewel. Wounded and exhausted after a severe battle, she had been grateful to Inuyasha who chose to spare her life. Inuyasha came back days later, seeking the jewel to become a full-blooded demon. Feeling empathy for her, Kikyo chose to spare Inuyasha, who remarked that she smelled like blood. Though Inuyasha tried to take the jewel, she was powerless against Kikyo's archery and her vast spiritual powers.

Time had passed and Inuyasha and Kikyo had forged a mysterious bond, the bond of sisterhood. They were both lonely souls who were trying to escape the pain of destiny. Inuyasha had endeared herself to Kikyo when she saved Kaede's life from the Mistress Centipede and Kikyo had told the villagers that Inuyasha was free to come and go from the village, even though Inuyasha lived outside the village.

The Sacred Jewel was a mystery to her. There was something evil about it, something dark and nasty. Kikyo spent most of her time keeping the Jewel in check and preventing it from ever being tainted by anyone. However, she was getting tired of this duty. She wished to live her life as a normal woman, to fall in love… and have a family. She wished to have a child of her own. Alas, this joy would never be fulfilled.

However, Kikyo and Inuyasha's life was to change drastically. One night… The Jewel glowed harshly. Kikyo heard a scream unlike any other as she looked on in shock. A pillar of purple light had emerged from the Jewel and shot up straight into the sky as shockwaves filled the village. An earthquake had ensued all over the Plains of Musashi as Kikyo realized that something terrible was happening.

The birds began frantically chirping as the wildlife was disturbed. Inuyasha, who woke up from her sleep, ran back to the village and found Kikyo on the wooden floor. The Earthquake had subsided as they both looked at one another, confused as to what happened.

They both walked outside the shrine and saw something bright in the distance, approaching the village. It was a meteor and it was on fire. All the people in the village came outside wondering what was happening. Kikyo readied herself into action.

She was no ordinary priestess. She would find a way to destroy that meteor.

"Inuyasha, quickly get everyone inside. I will handle this."

"Got it."

Kikyo had raised out her hands and had formed various hand seals as a barrier formed around the village. Pouring her energy into it, she waited for the meteor to strike. Instead, the meteor landed outside the village as the ground quaked. Fierce winds engulfed the village. Kikyo realized that the meteor might not be an ordinary piece of rock.

Kaede had come out with Inuyasha, who was now worried.

"Sister, are you okay?"

"Lady Kikyo, what is happening?"

Kikyo turned to the villagers and spoke. "Please, go back inside. I do not know anything. Inuyasha and I will investigate."

Kikyo turned to Kaede, her expression softer and gentle. "Sweetheart, go inside. I will come back soon. Nothing will happen to me, little sister."

Kaede nodded as she looked at Inuyasha and told her to protect her sister. Inuyasha grinned as she and Kikyo headed off to the crash site.

When they had found the crash site, there was a person lying there to their utmost shock. It was a man, possibly 14-15 years old, with clothes they had never seen before, clothes that were torn and shredded. Kikyo and Inuyasha had never seen something like this before. The male had whiskers on his face, that is what they thought. Nor had they seen the color of hair the male was sporting. Inuyasha took a greater look at the boy known as Naruto, and gave Kikyo a look.

"He is human… and not."

"What do you mean, little sister?"

"I mean… he looks human, but more than that, he might not be. Those whiskers on his face seem to indicate that he might not be human. And I can sense something powerful within him, something ancient. Not to mention, he looks like a warrior. Look at the scars and his physique. Only a warrior could have something like that."

Kikyo slowly approached the sleeping Naruto and ran a hand gently across his face. They looked like whiskers, whatever those marks were that were on his face. She ran a hand across his chest and on his stomach, as she narrowed her eyes. She could see a seal forming on his muscular abdomen; it was unlike anything she had ever seen before. Whoever made this seal… had to have been a priestess who had exceptional and powerful sealing abilities. Inuyasha was right. Something was lying dormant within the seal, something with tremendous power. It frightened Kikyo and also made her curious. This power… could not be slain by her hands nor by Inuyasha's. Not to mention, she could see the faint traces of life growing around him. This could be a coincidence. The Jewel and this man had to be related.

Kikyo then noticed Inuyasha smiling at her, a shit-eating grin on her face.

"What?"

"I can see you staring at this human for so long. Have you fallen in love? I will admit, he has a good-looking face, not to mention his body…"

Kikyo had schooled her features into one of absolute calm, even though she was blushing internally on the inside.

"Keep your mind focused, Inuyasha. This cannot be a coincidence. The Sacred Jewel acting up the way that it did… along with the arrival of this man. We will take him back to the village. He needs rest and healing. And then… we will have our answers to see if he is friend or foe.

Inuyasha carried Naruto like a sack of potatoes as they both walked back to the village. Inuyasha had to admit it… but she too was starting to feel something. Besides great power… she could feel something else in the man's soul; loneliness, sadness, and pain. Perhaps, he was just like her and Kikyo, trying to find a place in life.

Little did the three of them know… that their lives would change forever. And the Ten-Tails, the evil presence lying within the Jewel, breathed a sigh of relief knowing his prey had arrived at his doorstep.

Chapter End

That is the end of the chapter.

Please read and review generously. I hope you all enjoy it.

The pairing is Naruto/Kagome/Female Inuyasha/Female Sesshomaru. Naruto/Kikyo is temporary and will end in tragedy. And Kikyo is more powerful in this story. No one truly knows what lies within the Jewel and the plans it has.

I hope to make a good story. The next chapters will be on average 5k. See you all in the next update.
