Magic. An element spoken of as a profound and otherworldly ability certain individuals are capable of manifesting to use at their command. Like out-of-spoken television shows, one can blast a foe to smithereens with an incantation, wrap the very reality around them, or even summon a magical being to fight at their side. With such abilities came the ill motive to claim power. Through such, the Holy Grail came into being. In response to the will of humans, this artifact beseeched the last standing one single wish. For some, their wildest dreams would come true. As for others, the less fortunate, the ones who held some relation to magic or the Holy Grail War; it was a nightmarish curse they could not control.

Unknown Location

Through the dead of night, the washing waves their only companions, a woman and her infant. Applying ginger whispers, the looming land far ahead instills a sense of anxiety. The cause being one she is all too familiar with.

She's long since adjusted to the constant setting transitions. From their home into the city she and her husband fled. At every stop, the enemy lied in waiting. From city to abandoned town districts both ran towards. Maneuvering through remnant structures like a game of hide-and-seek, their opportunity to escape came and she took it. An abandoned boat lying just along the riverside as if that of a quiet wish granted during her fleeing.

Without a moment's hesitation, they both rushed for their escape route. However, the perpetrators behind their long run had caught them just as the mother and child boarded. Before she could react, he pushed them out into the waters. Her tearful cries and wails fell on deaf ears as brilliant lights encompassed her vision followed by tremors and raging waves.

From beyond where he once stood, nothing remained but a bloody crater. All around it, an endless horde of enemies. Like machines, their gazes transfixed from the hole to the lone boat out at sea. Unmoving. Only their shimmering eyes discernable as the distance grew with every rock.

With time, her mourning faded as the innocent coos reemerged.

They vowed to protect their newborn till their dying breaths and she intended to honor her beloved's sacrifice.

Motherly instincts taking the reins, her focus in that moment left. It wasn't until the passing seconds that followed did the red hue around them become noticeable.

From beyond the dark heavens, rays of red blurred the vision. Instincts taking the reins, they dove into the raging death below.

By some miracle, or a late blessing from the Gods above, none landed their mark. Gasping for air, the safety of the infant allowed the relief that followed to be fleeting.

Reverberating through the water, a muffled horn blared to life. Facing the dim surface, her eyes could barely make out the silhouette of a ship.

By seeing this, her fears only increased.

Desperately, she resurfaced swimming as far as she could with her one arm. The cries of the infant would be her demise as from above, her eyes once again met countless red. Feeling the first sense of dread came immediately as one of the assailants whisked her child away. There was no warning, no sense of action. It was instantaneous.

"Relon!"

That singular term, the name given upon the birth of her joy and hope, would be her final as an indescribable force pierced her body, sending it plummeting into the abyss. Gasping for water to seep in, her vision becomes blurred in aquatic red. Even as she reaches out, the strength once held had had vanished.

Kalos… I'm sorry. Someone… please… protect… our… child.

Even as her soul departed onto a higher plane, the sole wish for her only offspring remained. A single wish that would prompt the awakening of a primordial entity. Recognizable only as a dormant beast, it awoke from its slumber.

"Who… said that?"

Without hesitation, it returned to its sleep. The lingering essence of the curiosity at the forefront of its minds cape.

Gigantic

As its name suggested, the Gigantic was an illustrious ship. On the outside, its appearance as a simple cargo ship would make any passersby not give a second glance. Inside, however, lay multiple floors. Each with a specific design and purpose. Above its truth stands lifeless entities at every portion. Atop cargo crates, around the edges of the railings. Everywhere. Each sports an attire matching their era. All with various weapons and dauntless red eyes.

Appearing out of still air, one such servant kneels offering the infant.

Peering out a window from the confines of the bridge, a man in a suit turns. For any who had never met the male, they would surmise the glint in his eyes to be like that one who'd just won the lottery.

"Finally." He breathes in awe at the form of life in his arms. "Finally." He smiles, one so pure that all the evil intentions he has cannot be sensed. "Finally." A chuckle exudes through his lips. "I have great expectations of you, Relon Lucinance."

With an uncaring wave, he dismisses the servant for it to vanish as it had appeared.

Fiddling with the newborn, the man departs down a narrow corridor. Through an array of floors, luxurious and combat-oriented, he comes to a halt before one large door. With a simple snap, the repetitive creaks came forth as the doors opened.

Stepping through, he gazes at what is without question his most prized possession. An indefinite amount of money, lives, and mana spent on the fortuneless object before him.

"I have five years to appraise your mana before the auction. Listen dearly, young one. You will be my key to success. Such rare potential is like that of a glass blue moon. You are but a small piece that alone is worth so much any could imagine. That quality is ripe for the taking and I'm going to squeeze every last ounce of you out."

A/N: This is a harem story because it's fate and I'm a harem connoisseur. Also don't take this story seriously.
