Yuya yawned and stretched as he sat up in bed, slowly waking up, normally he would be up earlier for school, but as the school had given them a break to qualify for the Maiami Championships, and seeing that he had qualified two days ago, he decided to sleep in a bit longer. But that rest was over, it was time to get up.

He didn't bother changing out of his PJs, he would do that before going to You Show later on. For now, breakfast! He made his way out of his room, a smile plastered on his face. The same expression he had after the events of last night.

He made his way down the firepole, having smelt his mother's cooking, "Morning Mom!" he greeted her, Sora, once again making himself welcome in their house, already seated at the table. "Morning Yuya!" Yoko greeted back, still focused on her cooking, trying out a new recipe Michio had given her. All the animals were currently eating their meals.

"Morning to you too guys!" he greeted the pets, who were still engrossed in eating, "Morning Sora!" he finally said to the other boy... much to their confusion. "Morning..." Sora greeted back slowly, somewhat suspicious of Yuya's surprisingly jolly attitude. Normally the older boy would groan at his presence... Now, he was being nice to him in the morning.

The older boy then sat down, waiting for his mother to finish cooking... Eventually noticing Sora's gaze on him, "What?" he asked confused by his staring. "Are you alright, Yuya?" Sora asked, confusing him. "Yeah, I'm fine Sora, why do you ask?" he asked back. Unaware he was still smiling.

"You just seem very happy for some reason." Sora answered back.

At this moment, Yoko having been listening in was intrigued, she had also just finished cooking the meals for them, "Oh really..." she began, plating the meal, which was an improved version of her Sunrise Pork-Loaf Pancake Sandwich, Michio edition, she then turned to face the two.

She then noticed her son's expression, he himself still hadn't realise he was smiling like that, she could guess why from what occurred yesterday, "My my Yuya... You do seem more cheerier than usual..." she said smirking, placing the meals before the two, Sora quickly digging in, "Any reason for that Yuya?" she asked her son, a knowing tone to her voice.

Yuya slightly blushed, recalling why he was so happy, "No reason..." he muttered, slowly digging into his meal, his blush still on his face. "Oh really..." she said grinning, "So I take it your date with Yuzu went well?" she asked, at this Sora was confused.

"Date? I thought they were-" suddenly he remembered the older boy being nervous on their way home from after his final qualifying Duel, "Oh!" he suddenly grinned, putting the pieces together, making Yuya look away.

"P-Please don't you two..." he begged the two, "Hah! I knew there was something between you two back then!" Sora cheered, Yuya knew what he was referring to, "Was it really that obvious?" he groaned out, even a kid he barely met a couple of weeks ago back then had better insight on the topic.

"Yep!" was all he said to that, continuing to eat his meal. Yoko laughed as her son groaned into the table, "And as your mother, I know you just as well..." she added, "Honestly I had hoped something would have happened between you two earlier, like back when I had you two take those dance lessons." she declared, alerting her son.

"Wait!? Is that why you had me take those lessons with Yuzu back then!?" he asked, remembering all the dance classes he took, all because his mother wanted him to... Sure he did like the classes awhile later, Yuzu being involved helped, he now knew the reason why.

"Of course, even when you two meet all those years ago, I knew something would happen from it." she told him, "I just had to nudge you along!" she added, "Besides, you enjoyed the classes eventually..." she added.

"Well, at least I know the reason now..." Yuya thought, that had been one thought at the back of his mind, why did his mom insist he take those classes. "Yeah I did... Thanks again for that mom." he smiled at her, she back to him.

"So..." Sora cut in, having finished his meal, the other two looked to him "You two are together now, right?" he asked Yuya, he paused, sure they hadn't actually said last night, but their actions had implied something...

"Yeah..." he smiled again, "Yeah, we are together now." he finished.

"Well good for you two!" Sora said, "But just make sure you aren't all lovey dovey all the time at You Show! Otherwise you'll make everyone sick!" he joked, the other boy frowned at this, "What's going to make people sick is your bizarre eating habits!" Yuya retorted. Sora smiled, there was the Yuya he had come to know.

"Now boys..." Yoko cut in, before Sora could retort back. "Let's just drop the subject and get along..." she said, "If you do, I'll make seconds!" she offered, Sora, still hungry instantly perked up, "Deal!" he then dropped the subject, "Fine..." Yuya added.

She then went to make another round for the two, while they chatted about other things...

... Though there was something that still bugged Yuya about last night, "Just what was that dream about?" he thought to himself, it had been so strange... He couldn't explain it but... It hadn't felt like a dream...

Hiragi Residences (same time)

Yuzu rolled in her sleep, turning to face her window, the sunlight from out her window hitting her face as she did, making her stir. "Hmmm" she groaned out as the light shorn onto her eye, she peeked an eye open, and then faced up to her ceiling instantly.

"Time to get up..." she thought, sitting up, stretching and yawning as she did, when she dropped her arms down, one of them grazed something, she then looked to see what it was. Smiling at the sight of it, her new plush toy of Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, the one that Yuya had won for her last night during their date.

Upon thinking back to all that had happened last night, she brought her new plush to her chest, cuddling the toy with glee, "Yuya..." she sighed out, recalling their kiss last night, it had been great to finally kiss the boy she liked for the past few years. Even better now that they had established their relationship to each other... Somewhat.

Which meant she didn't have to worry about another girl taking him away from her.

But now that their special day was over, she could focus on other things again, like her training. "Fusion is done, Synchro is coming along, despite not performing one yet. Waiting on my Pendulum Monsters for that method..." she then paused in her thoughts, recalling the last one, "And then there's Xyz..." she added.

She then recalled her conversation with Yuya last night on the Ferris Wheel, finally coming clean about all she knew since encountering Yuto, most of it at least. Despite feeling better at finally tell him this. She was still concerned, "Just what is he involved with, that he and his friends would attack people? Which will somehow save this Ruri?..." she questioned to herself. Her mood changing to concern.

Ruri... the younger sister to one of Yuto's comrades, apparently captured by their enemy, and taking into account all the info she had gained from interacting with Yuto and his comrade, them mistaking her for Ruri.

That implied that like Yuto looked like Yuya, this Ruri must look like her. "I hope she's alright, and that she can be saved." she prayed, despite not knowing the girl, she didn't deserve such a fate.

She then thought about the enemy that had captured the poor girl, and was clearly responsible for what they had been through, "Fusion..." she muttered, she just couldn't figure out how Fusion Summoning was involved in what had happened to those people.

"I want you to survive, even if it means using Fusion Summoning!" she recalled some of Yuto's words during their last discussion, she could tell that his view on the method wasn't a good one, but it wasn't his choice on what she did.

"While I don't know what you have against Fusion Summoning Yuto, with you seeing it as evil, I'll show you that it can be used for good." she began, "Not just Fusion, but also Synchro, Pendulum and even Xyz, I'll use all that I've learned to protect what's dear to me! That I promise!" she vowed to herself, and she would keep to this promise.

Suddenly she heard a knock at her door. "Yuzu?" her father's voice called out from outside her door, snapping her out of her thoughts, "Come in!" she told him, he then opened the door, peering into her room, "Morning sweetie!" he greeted.

"Morning Dad!" she greeted him back, there was then a long pause between them at this point, "So..." Shuzo began, "How did it go yesterday?" he asked first, "It went well..." she smiled recalling last night again.

"That's good..." he said back, though she noted his expression was odd. Despite his smile, he looked like it was forced, as it was scrunched up, his eyes, he looked like he was about to cry.

"Dad? Are you okay?" she asked, worried for him, "Oh me? I'm fine!" he said instantly, "Then why did you make that face after I told you how yesterday went?" she accused...

...

"Wahhhhhhhh!" he cried out out of nowhere, his tears dropping like mini waterfalls. "Dad?!" she asked shocked at his reaction, getting out of her bed, walking over to her father.

"Oh Yuzu... Please don't leave me!" he cried out, bring her into a hug, "Dad?..." she said confused, "Why would I leave?" she asked, "Because you're growing up so fast!" he answered, "I've dreaded this day ever since you came into my life all those years ago..." he said. He could still remember her as that little baby in a basket that found her way onto his front porch in the middle of the night all those years ago, looking up at him with innocent glee.

"I had hoped this wouldn't happen until later on, I still see you as my little girl..." he cried out more, "Dad..." she blushed at this, "I just want things to stay like they were for a little while longer..." he added, "But recent events have prevented that from happening..." he said, "What with you and Yuya now dating..." she blushed, turns out her father knew what yesterday truly was.

"As well as your training!" this made her gasped, she pushed back a little from the hug for space "How did you know about that?" she asked, that was meant to be a secret from him, as a surprise. "Oh Yuzu..." he said, slowly wiped his face, though the tears were still there.

"As soon as you wanted to learn how to Pendulum Summon..." he declared, "Sure I didn't put it together at first, but seeing Yuya's growth during his Duel against Gongenzaka made me realise that you likely wouldn't sit by as he grew as a Duelist, you would want to walk with him as an equal..." he explained.

"And as soon as I realised that Pendulum Summoning could support the others, I realised that's why you had been so distant lately..." he continued, "Your Duel against that Masumi girl likely had to been apart of the reason why you choose to learn the other methods..." Yuzu kept quiet, he was right after all...

He then realised something, "Wait... Was this training meant to be a surprise?" he asked, "Kinda..." she shyly, "For both you and Yuya, but Yuya found out about it instantly, when he told us how he could qualify for the championships." she explained, frowning, now the surprise was all gone.

He chuckled at this, rubbing the back of his head, "Sorry sweetie..." he said, "But I couldn't hold it any longer..." he smiled, "So you aren't mad?" she asked, confusing him.

"Now why would I be mad at you for growing as a Duelist?" he asked, he then forced a smile again, "Or as a woman..." he added, making her blush, "I've known about you liking Yuya for awhile now..." he frowned, thinking about the boy that would take his little Yuzu away- He shook his head of those thoughts. "And while I would have preferred this didn't happen until later on..." he began.

"Like when you were 18..." he said, making her giggle at his protectiveness, "But it's your choice, I can't stop you loving someone..." he paused, "You do love him, right?" he asked, making her blush at this.

"Yes..." she answered with a smile, he smiled at seeing her reaction, "Then... I can accept that..." he declared, a gentle smile to his face, but then he turned serious, "But..." he began, "If he breaks your heart, I'll make him pay!" he declared, gaining a fiery aura, "I'll make him regret ever breaking your heart, that I-" he never finished as she quickly whacked him gently with her fan.

"Dad..." she frowned, putting her fan away. "Was there another reason for coming in here?" she asked, "Besides eventually threating Yuya..." she added "Oh right..." he calmed down, rubbing his new bump, "I came in here to say I'm going into You Show early today..." he told her.

"Why?" she asked, "Because..." he stood up and turned to exit her room, not before looking back at her, "While you were on your date with Yuya yesterday..." she blushed at the mention, "I received an interesting call..." he began, "We're expecting a huge delivery today..." he smiled, "Regarding certain cards you lot requested..." after saying that, he then shuts her door.

"See you later sweetie!" he added from behind the door, she could hear his footsteps getting further away...

Yuzu however, upon hearing what he told her was stunned, which soon made way to joy, "They're ready!" she said to herself with a smile, now brimming with energy. "I better get ready!" she said to herself, proceeding to gather her things to go have a shower. "It's finally happening!" she told herself excited, she couldn't wait...

Denisu Residences (8:43 AM)

Matthew and Oliver were already up, eating their breakfast, their mother had already gone to work, though before she left, her tone was one of excitement, much to their confusion. There were a few things to do before they head off for You Show. "Is he up yet?" Oliver asked, clearly angsty about something. "Soon, he did get home a bit late." Matthew responded, sipping a cup of coffee to wake himself up more. They had been in bed by the time they heard Nigel come back last night.

"Good, I can't wait much longer..." Oliver muttered, fidgeting for some reason, he needed to say something to his other brother, "Just relax, once he's up, don't drop the bomb instantly, you've got to time this correctly." Matthew told him.

"I know-" suddenly they heard the sound of a bedroom door opening, cutting Oliver off, he smiled, the time was soon upon them. "Morning Nigel..." Matthew said as he saw his brother still in his PJs, simple grey bottoms, and a white PJ shirt.

Nigel however didn't respond, as he hadn't heard him, due to the fact he had his headphones on, clearly listening to a song. Matthew noted this, it was a common thing Nigel did when deep in thought. "Nigel?" he asked again, still no response from the middle triplet, as he made his way to the fridge and got the things he needed for his breakfast.

Once he made his breakfast, a simple bowl of cereal, he sat down at the table, still listening to his tunes.

But he then slowly became aware of his brother's staring at him. "What?!" he asked, Matthew motioned to his ears, tapping the air around his ear, implying he needed to take his headphones off. He did.

"Yeah?" he asked again, "You alright Nigel?" his older brother asked again, "Yeah... Why do you ask?" he asked, at this point, Oliver took over, a sly smile to his expression, "Oh... We were just wondering what you were doing yesterday." he said.

Nigel went quiet , slowly recalling what he had done yesterday, go with Azara to follow Yuya and Yuzu on their date... Which had lead to them also having an unintentional date... His mind kept repeating it like that.

He kept his calm, forcing his blush at the thought of yesterday's events away, "Oh... I just wanted to be alone for awhile." he said with a straight face. "Really? That took you all day to do that?" Oliver asked, kept his tone neutral.

Nigel kept his poker face, "I had a lot on my mind." he said, taking bites between talking. "Like?" Matthew asked, genuinely concern, "About this year's championships... And the attacks." he said.

"Oh right..." Oliver said, dropping his potential subject for now, "Yeah... You've heard the rumour that was going about at school before we got that break to qualify, some of the other students were saying the whole event may be cancelled because of the attacks." he explained.

"I don't think so..." Matthew began, "They would have announced something by now about it being cancelled, so I think it will go on." he said.

"Anything else on your mind?" Oliver added in, "Yeah, the possible reason for the attacks..." he said, the two were intrigued by this, "Really?" Matthew asked.

"Yeah... We've discussed all we've gather about Yuya's look alike during our brief encounters with him." he said, the two nodded, "Then recently we found out that this doppelganger has an accomplice with them." he added.

Oliver frowned, recalling such individual, "Oh right... him..." he said, recalling that the second attacker had pushed him over when going to confront that Masumi girl... And Yuzu of course, just as important.

Nigel began to explain, "Do you recall what that guy had said... regarding Yuzu?..." he asked them, the two got confused. "He called her Ruri..." he began, the two then recalled that name, "That's not the first time that name has been mentioned, Azara had said that that's what Yuya's look alike had called Yuzu that night when Sawatari was attacked." he paused.

"Two people had mistaken Yuzu for another person, so sure that she was this Ruri to them..." the other two wondered where this was going, "As we know, Yuya has a doppelganger... But what's not to say Yuzu doesn't have one." the two widened their eyes at this.

"So what you're saying is, that this Ruri girl, she might possibly resemble Yuzu in some way?" Matthew questioned, "Yeah... It's possible if Yuya's look alike exist." Nigel answered.

"Okay..." Oliver said, "So both Yuya and maybe Yuzu have a doppelganger out there somewhere..." he began, "But what does that have to do with the attacks?" he asked, still not getting it.

"Again, recall what that guy had said to Yuzu, thinking she was Ruri..." Nigel said, "He had asked her, concerned at how she had gotten away..." he finished, Matthew got it instantly, "Gotten away... That implies she was taken, captured even. So this Ruri has been captured?" he asked, "Possibly... And the reason those two are attacking people is to somehow get her back." he told them.

Oliver frowned, "But how does attacking random people-" "Who said it was random..." Matthew said cutting him off, "Huh?" Oliver muttered confused, "The second attacker, was going to attack Masumi, as she was a student of LDS." he told his younger brother.

"She herself had clarified that all the people that were attacked were connected to LDS." Nigel explained, "Oh... So all this is linked to LDS..." Oliver frowned, "And if LDS is involved, its likely that Reiji is too." Matthew finished.

"So that's the possible reason, the two want to save this Ruri girl, who possibly looks like Yuzu, by attacking members of LDS." Oliver summarised. "Exactly..." Nigel said.

The three then went quiet at this point, taking in all this info... the other two more than Nigel. "Just what is Reiji doing?" Matthew asked himself, he just couldn't figure out the guy. Though one thing was for certain, he had an agenda. One which he seemed hellbent in reaching.

"Don't know... But it can't be anything good..." Nigel answered. "That's all that was on my mind yesterday, it's why I was out so late." he told them, at this Oliver suddenly recalled his previous thoughts.

Matthew smiled at his middle brother, "Thanks for telling us this Nigel, it's important to share what's on your mind." he told his brother, who smiled back him, "Yeah... It is good..." he said back.

The three then went quiet, Nigel continuing to eat his meal. "So..." Oliver suddenly said knowingly, Nigel began to listen as he took another spoonful of his breakfast. "How was your date with Azara?" he quickly asked.

The question made Nigel widened his eyes, the shock made him nearly choked, causing him to do a small spit take, coughing and sputtering in panic. "Dude gross!" Matthew yelled out, having unfortunately been caught in the blast radius of Nigel's surprise spit take, he rushed to wipe himself clean. Meanwhile Oliver laughed holding his sides at the sight before him.

Nigel quickly regained his composure, sputtering slightly still, "W-What are y-you on about!?" he quickly defended, a slight blush erupting across his face, "Oh... I just so happened to hear a little something two days ago..." he said knowingly, Matthew looked over at the younger triplet, a glare across his face at what he had caused.

"I had heard that Azara had asked you to accompany her as she wanted to follow Yuya and Yuzu on their date yesterday..." he teasingly said, Nigel was silent, knowing what was going to happen from this declaration to him.

"The fact that you two were together, following them, likely lead to certain scenarios happening..." Oliver couldn't contain his glee as Nigel lowered his head, his eyes shadowed by his hair.

The triplet laughed out loud again, clearly enjoying himself, "Grabbing a bite to eat, alone together. Making small talk..." he said, "Its almost as if you two had your own little date..." he said, Nigel's face turned red at the mention... His brother would pay...

Oliver turned to Matthew, "Come on Matthew, join in!" he asked his older brother, said brother looked at him, with sudden confusion, "What the hell are you talking about? Acting like I knew about this!" Matthew asked serious.

Oliver's joy turned to confusion, "What are you on about dude? We discussed this yester-" Suddenly his question was cut off, as Nigel instantly sprang to his feet, the chair he was sitting on, being forced back at his stood.

Oliver looked to him, his confusion now turning to horror, Nigel's gaze was upon him, and it looked sinister. One of his eyes was showing from his casted shadow around his face, making him look more menacing.

"You rat..." Nigel growled out, contained anger within his voice, all directed at the youngest triplet. Who by now was getting nervous, thing this wasn't such a good idea after all...

"N-Now c-calm down Nigel... It w-was just a innocent jab..." he stuttered out in slight fear, he turned to the oldest brother, silently praying for his protection in this moment...

Only for said brother to glare and turned his head the other way. Oliver was stunned at his betrayal... Wondering why this was happening to him...

"So..." Nigel grabbed his attention again, making Oliver flinch, he stood up and slowly looking back at the middle triplet, his intense gaze still on him. "You noisy little rat..." he muttered out again, holding something up to show Oliver.

He looked at what it was, and was horrified at what it was... A marker pen... "Noooo..." Oliver whispered out as he backed up, away from Nigel, only to bump into something behind him.

Oliver quickly looked back to see Matthew standing behind him, he was still glaring at Oliver, "What are you-" he was cut off instantly when Matthew grabbed him, "Hey! Let me go!" he cried out trying to escape, but to no avail. "Payback is a bitch..." Matthew muttered into his ear.

"That's it Matthew, hold him still..." Nigel growled out, slowly approaching the two, pen marker at the ready.

He aimed the marker right at Oliver, who was clearly struggling to get free, "No..." the marker got closer, aiming for his forehead, "No..." the marker made contact...

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" he screamed out, it carried and echoed across the city...

You Show

The sliding doors opened, Yuya slowly walked into the building, having just arrived, Sora was also with him. The younger boy still rubbing his full belly. "Man those pancake sandwiches were delish!" he sighed out contently. Yuya just looked him, as if he had a second head... He still couldn't believe Sora had not two of them, not even three, but four of them.

"Just how can you eat that much Sora?" he questioned the younger boy, sure he himself had a second one, but that was it, they were too filling, he was stunned to see Sora have two more. "I'm a growing boy!" was all Sora said to that.

The two chatted more as they made their way to the usual hang out spot, passing the other students as they did, greeting them quietly.

"Yuya!" a voice called out to him, catching the boy's attention, "Huh?" he looked to see who was calling out to him, becoming nervous when he saw it was Shuzo, who looked quite stern as he approached the two.

"Oh... Principal Shuzo, good morning..." he greeted the principal back nervously. Shuzo stopped before the two, then silence took its place. "Morning." he greeted back slowly...

...

...

...

"Right..." Sora interrupted, "I'm going on ahead!" he then walked away, stunning Yuya "S-Sora!" Yuya called out "Good luck Yuya!" he called back as he vanished around the corner.

"But-" "Yuya!" Shuzo cut him off looking at the boy, once again a stern expression on his face, making Yuya sweat more. "Oh boy..." the boy muttered, he sighed, mentally preparing for the berating he was about to receive.

"I'll keep this brief..." Shuzo said, "While I don't mind that you and Yuzu are now dating..." he began, "If you hurt her in any way..." he got close, near to Yuya's face, "I'll make you regret it..." he threatened. "Got it!" he added.

Yuya swallowed the forming lump in his throat at the threat, "R-Right, got it Principal Shuzo!" he got out slowly, "Good..." Shuzo then rose and walked passed him, "Be good to her..." he muttered loud enough for the boy to hear him.

Once he had vanished to who knows where, Yuya calmed down, "Wow that was brief..." he sighed to himself, he then smiled, "At least that part wasn't as bad..." he thought to himself. He then turned to face the way he was heading before, to catch up with Sora.

A while later on, more of the group gathered in their spot, first Andy, followed by the kids, who happily greeted him, once again congratulating him for qualifying. Then Ronald showed up, though they noted he seemed to be spacing out, they asked if he was alright, he said he just had a lot on his mind.

Sora taunted him, saying his head was too empty for something like that, the two got into a argument.

Then eventually the Denisu Brothers showed up... Though they noted that both Nigel and Oliver were ignoring each other, some hostility between them, they also noted that Oliver was wearing a woolly hat for some reason. They could tell it was pulled so much that it was covering his forehead.

"What's with them, Big Bro Matthew?" Ayu asked Matthew, who looked back at his brothers, both were giving each other the stink eye, "No reason to concern yourself with Ayu, just a sibling thing." he answered. This confused the young girl.

Eventually Azara, along with Ruby made her way to them... Though like with the brothers, she seemed off... As soon as she saw them, she quickly glanced at Nigel, who glanced back, and both quickly turned away from each other.

"What's with you two?" Andy asked confused, Oliver slyly began to speak, "Don't even think about it..." Nigel growled to him under his breath, cutting him before he said a thing, "Or else everyone will see 'it'!" he threatened. Oliver reluctantly close his mouth.

"Okay..." Yuya said, noting the tension, something must have happened between them. "You alright Azara?" he asked the girl, who flinched, "Oh me!? I'm totally fine! Nothing happening with me! None whatsoever!" she quickly said, all of them were looking at her worried, she quickly blushed at her reaction. "Hehehe..." she nervously laughed out.

"So..." Matthew began, hoping to change the subject, he faced Andy, "You ready for your final qualifying Duel?" he asked the boy, who smiled in response, "Yeah! I've been going over my Deck to make sure it's ready!" he declared confidently, but then he lost his smile, "Though maybe I should go over it again..." he quickly brought out his Deck, quickly going through it.

"We've got the time, we might as well all go through our Decks..." Azara said eventually getting over her at embarrassment. "Oh yeah, all of you have Duels today!" Yuya remembered, he looked to the five that would be duelling today, Matthew, his brothers, Azara and Andy.

"Shame we can't all go to them all..." Ayu pouted, as three of those duels were around the same time, Matthew, Nigel and Azara. "To be honest..." Nigel began, "I kind of want to be alone for my Duel..." he said to them, "I've got a lot on my mind, and need the space..." he added.

"Same..." Azara said, looking away from them as she said this, not wanting them to see her face. They could all tell something was bothering both Nigel and Azara. His brothers seemed to know.

But before that went any further, "Good morning!" a voice greeted from the doorway, they turned to see that Yuzu, the last of their group, had finally made it.

"Morning Big Sis!" Ayu greeted the older girl, "Morning!" the others greeted back, Yuya smiled at the girl, who smiled fondly back at him, the two then walked over until they stood before each other.

"Hey..." Yuya greeted fondly to her, "Hey..." she said back just as fond. The two continued to gaze at one another, slowly getting lost in each other eyes, fondly recalling last night's k-

"Ahem!" someone coughed out, snapping them out of their daze. The two looked back to see all of their friends looking at the two, most of the older boys had grins, Ayu looked at the two with suspense, and small smile to her face, her eyes sparkling with joy. Futoshi looked like he was about to do his little dance, Tatsuya smiled. Azara's expression was one of suppressed glee, her hands together to her chest.

"Well..." Matthew grinned out, "Is there something the two of you have to tell us?" he asked knowingly, making the two blush. They then looked to each other, having a silent conversation, eventually Yuzu gently grasped his hand, who held onto it. They two smiled, and looked back at them.

"You can probably guess from what happened yesterday..." Yuya began, "That it went well..." he added, smiling still, "And..." Yuzu looked down at their held hands, "That we got together last night!" she added.

As soon as she said this, the group cheered, Futoshi broke into his dance, Ayu rushed over to hug the older girl, the others congratulated them on their new relationship.

Azara also rushed over to Yuzu, happy for them, "Oh Yuzu, this is great, I knew you two would look cute together!" she declared. At this moment, Oliver still annoyed with Nigel, wanted revenge for what he did, cut in, "Why are you so surprised Azara!" he began, catching her attention, "After all... You already knew how it ended!" he smirked evilly at Nigel, "You were following them!" he declared.

What he declared shocked the group, mostly Azara, "How did you-" she cut herself with a hand over her mouth, she panicked, looking over to the new couple, "You... followed us?" Yuya asked concerned and confused at why she would do such a thing. Meanwhile Nigel was glaring at his younger brother.

"I-I-It wasn't to stalk you t-two!" Azara panickly said, waving her arms about, "I just... wanted the make sure your date went alright..." she muttered. The two were confused, "Why?" Yuzu asked, the older girl twiddling his fingers "Well... You're my friends..." she began, "I just wanted to make sure you were happy..." she turned away. "I'm sorry..." she muttered out, ashamed for having gotten involve in their special da-

"It's alright." Yuzu said, snapping Azara out of her shame, "Huh?" she was confused, "You're not mad?" she asked, "Like you said, you just wanted to make sure it went fine..." Yuya said.

"It not like you actually got involved." he added. "Plus, it's nice that you wanted to make sure we were fine." Yuzu said, "So it's fine! No problem at all!" she added with a smile to the older girl.

Azara was stunned by their reaction, not expecting it, she eventually smiled at them, "Thanks..." she said, "It wasn't just her..." Oliver cut in again, Azara realised where this was going. "She wasn't alone watching over you two..." he smirked, glaring at Nigel, "Nigel was with her!" he declared.

Azara's expression turned to horror at what he was going to imply, her thoughts from last night resurfacing, making her erupt into a blush, "Wait? You and Nigel were together yesterday?" Yuzu asked, "Alone..." Yuya added on, a thought then coming to mind. "Wouldn't that mean that you two were also on a-" "IT WASN'T A DATE!" Azara yelled out, shocking Yuya, her blush still strong.

At her reaction, Oliver laughed, meanwhile Nigel rose from behind Oliver, his presence was sensed by the younger brother, who opened his eyes to meet Nigel's gaze, who was livid. "Err..." he said, afraid at what was about to occur.

"You rat!" Nigel growled out, quickly swiping at his brother, specifically at his hat, grabbing and yanked it away, revealing to world what Oliver was hiding.

"No! Don't look!" Oliver quickly covered his forehead, but it was too late, they had all seen the writing, written in marker, the word Rat in its kanji. "Damn you Nigel!" Oliver glared to his brother. "That will teach you, rat!" he growled back. Oliver sprang to his feet, clash his forehead his brother's own. "You wanna go!?" he growled, pushing him back, Nigel began to push back.

"Now calm down you two!" Matthew came before them, trying to break the potential fight up, "STAY OUT OF THIS!" the younger two shouted out, but before they could continue.

"Attention please!" Shuzo's voice spoke from the com system, "Could all students make their way to the main entrance please!" was all he announced. This had halted all that had transpired, "What's that about?" Andy asked to no one.

Yuzu however smiled, "It's time!" she declared, she then grabbed Yuya's hand, "Come on Yuya!" she gleefully told her now boyfriend, "Whoa! Where's the fire?!" he joked as he was dragged along.

The others were confused, "What's that about?" Ronald asked, but no one answered, they all shrugged and proceeded to make way, following after the couple.

"Put them over there please!" Shuzo requested to the delivery men as they unloaded boxes from their trolley dolly, it was just about the last batch of boxes.

Just then, the students, lead by Yuzu and with Yuya, all made it to the main entrance, "What's up Principal?" Yuya asked, he got a feeling Yuzu knew, but she didn't say a thing to him as she dragged him to here. She was very excited, that he could tell.

"Ah!" Shuzo to face the gathering Students, "Good morning everyone!" he greeted them all, "Morning!" they greeted back. They then noticed the small pile of boxes, clearly having just been delivered.

"What's going on old man!" Ronald asked stunning their principal, "Old man!? I've told you to never call me that!?" Shuzo got angry instantly, steam puffing from his ears. "Get on with it Dad!" Yuzu cut him off, she wanted to get on with what was about to happen.

"Right..." he then cleared his throat, "As you know, when Mrs Denisu came here awhile ago, she brought with her important news!" he began, "DMC had managed to the achieve and recreate Pendulum Summoning on their own, but that's not all!" he paused for dramatic effect, "She also handed out forms for you lot to fill in..." he smiled, "Regarding Pendulum Monsters!" he added, awaiting their response.

The students were listening, slowly recalling all this as soon as he had finished, they gasped except for Yuzu who smiled, they shock soon turned to stunned joy , "No way!" Andy cried out in shock, not believing it to be so soon. "So soon!" Yuya smiled, knowing what this was about now.

Shuzo smiled at their reactions, "That's right!" he then moved out of the way, and motioned to the pile of delivered boxes, "DMC have been hard at work, grinding away, the results are your new Pendulum cards, as you requested!" he declared.

There was silences from the crowd, processing this info, but eventually this silences turned to cheering, "Our cards!" most of them shouted out, they couldn't wait any longer, "Hold it!" Shuzo stopped them, putting a hand in front of himself.

"I ain't getting trampled by you lot, so I'll be handing them out to you!" he looked back at the pile behind them, "These parcels have your names on them, so when I call for your name, you come over and I'll give them to you, is that clear!" he commanded, he really didn't want to trampled in their excitement.

"Yes Principal Shuzo!" the crowd sighed out, their joy coming down at this news, "Right!" he turned to the pile and sifted through it, "Let's see..." he rummaged around.

"Sora!" he called out, holding a parcel, Sora smiled, pushing to the front.

"That's me!" he cheered out, smiling, finally, part of his mission was complete... Though there was a nagging feeling in his chest... He didn't want his mission to be over... Though he couldn't figure out why.

He received his parcel, and proceeded to make his way back to where their group was before, "See ya in abit guys!" he shouted as he made his way back.

Yuya and Ronald moved to the side, watching as the students slowly but surely got their parcels, "Man this sucks..." Ronald groaned out, making the other boy look at him confused.

"Why's that-" Yuya then recalled, "Oh right..." he remembered that Ronald had joined them later, after the request forms had been handed out, "Yeah..." Ronald turned away, not wanting to see the rest get their parcels, Yuzu had just gotten hers, as had most of their group.

"If only I had been here before that day, then maybe I could have-" "Ronald!" Shuzo called out, cutting him off, "Huh?" he and Yuya looked over to see Shuzo, having finally finished handing out the parcels, was standing before the two, a parcel in each of his hands.

"Here!" he handed one to Ronald, who looked and saw that his name was on the parcel, confusing the boy, "But I didn't..." he muttered out, confused at how this was happening.

Shuzo smiled at the boy, "There was a few request forms left behind..." he explained, "And I've seen enough of your Duels, thus your Deck, to get a grasp on it..." he added, "So... As a surprise to you, I filled out a form for you, and took it into DMC a while ago." he handed the parcel into Ronald's open hands. "To be honest I was expecting this surprise to come later on, as the form was sent in a few days ago. DMC must have worked overtime!" he said with a laugh.

Ronald was still stunned as the surprise, "Ronald?" Yuya asked, the boy just looked at the box in his hands, eventually he smiled, he then lifted his gaze to Shuzo. "Thanks Old m-" he stopped himself, "Thanks Principal Shuzo." he then said.

Shuzo smiled at the boy, "Your welcome..." Ronald then left leaving only Yuya behind, "Whose that one for?" Yuya asked, as Shuzo was still holding a parcel in his hands, "Is there a student not in today?" he asked, Shuzo shook his head. "Actually Yuya... This one is a gift from DMC itself!" he told the Odd-Eyes Duelist. He held it before the boy.

"A gift?" he asked taking the parcel, "They told me yesterday when they called to confirm the delivery, that the higher ups wanted the give you a gift." he explained, "After all, this is only possible because of you!" he added, "So they thought it would a nice gift to you, some new cards!" he finished.

Now it was Yuya's turn to be amazed, stunned at the gift, looks like even he got something out of this. "Thanks Principal Shuzo!" he then ran off to join the others.

"No Yuya... Thank you..." Shuzo whispered out as he watched the boy return to where he was before...

He then checked the surroundings around him, to see if the coast was clear, it was. He then brought out a third hidden parcel from somewhere on him, "I can't wait to see the look on their faces!" he said to himself, walking back to his office...

Once all of them had gotten their packages, they all split off into their little groups again, the usual group were now sitted around the table, their parcels opened, going through their new cards.

"I can't believe it!" Ayu said joyfully staring at her new cards, "My own Pendulum Monsters..." she squealed out in delight, "I'm getting the shivers!" Futoshi wiggled in his sit, holding his own Pendulum cards, "Amazing!" Tatsuya was also thrilled about his own cards.

The older kids were just as thrilled, "Finally..." Azara cheered out, looking over her cards, Yuzu, who was next to her, going over her own cards, glanced into Azara's opened box, noting something, "Hey!" she said to the other girl, "Are those new Fusion Monsters?" she asked, making Azara blush, "Well, since we were given the option, I thought to have more cards made..." she muttered.

"Nice idea!" Yuya said, going over his own new cards, which consisted of a few support cards, some were quite interesting. "Never hurts to expands your Deck!" he said.

"And... done!" Sora suddenly declared, having gone over his Deck, having added in his new cards, "Now all I need to do is try them out!" he said to himself. "That's not a bad idea..." Matthew said, going over his own cards, "It wouldn't hurt to give these cards a spin before using them for real." he added.

"Great idea!" Yuzu said, she quickly went back to her Deck but paused, a question forming in her mind, "Though the only question that remains would be..." she began, "Who would go first?" she asked them all, they paused in their sorting to think of an answer. "I'm still going through my Deck, so I don't mind waiting..." Oliver said, "Same!" Andy said, "Me too!" Ronald added on.

"We've got our Duels soon, so we can try them out then..." Azara said. "So pretty much..." Matthew then turned to Yuya, Yuzu and Sora, "You three!" he answered. Shocking the pink haired girl, "M-Me!?" she asked shocked.

"Makes sense, you three and Ronald have qualified already." Nigel explained, "And having the ARC system in training mode, wouldn't affect you qualifying, as it wouldn't be official." he finished.

Yuzu then became nervous, "I-I don't know..." she said concerned, thinking she wasn't ready for this. She then felt Yuya take her hand, making her look to him. "I think it's a great idea..." he began saying to her, "After all, you did say to me yesterday that you would show me when your got your Pendulum Cards..." he smiled. "Plus, you're still training..." he paused.

"This is a great way to not only show off what you've learned from our Pendulum Lessons, but what you've learned from the others..." he motioned to them, they smiled at the girl, nodding with Yuya at his speech.

"What do you say Yuzu? You ready to put your training to work?" he asked, she took a moment to think, deep in thought. Eventually she smiled, looked to them and nodded...

Yuya, Yuzu and Sora all stood in the Duel Arena, currently Shuzo was setting up the system for them. "Okay! The system is set to training mode, that way the duel isn't official!" he told them, after all, all that hard work Yuya and Sora went through would have been for nothing, so this was the best next thing to do until after the Championships were over. Though in Training mode, Action cards weren't available. They would have to rely solely on their cards.

The rest of their group, and the rest of the students had gathered in the viewing area, awaiting for the duel to begin.

"Are you three ready?" he called to them, the three nodded, placing their decks into their Duel Disk, their energy blades activating also. "Ready!" they shouted to him. "Right! While this is a training duel, to avoid official duel complications, why not still add some scenery? I activate the Action Field, Peaceful Plains!" he then turned the ARC System, the field slowly generating, the same one used when Yuya and Yuzu did that demo Duel for the Pendulum Summon.

"Huh... This sure those bring back memories, right Yuzu!" Yuya said as the field fully rendered in, she smiled, recalling their first duel with Pendulum Summoning, only this time, she would be performing one also... Hopefully. "Yeah..." she said softly.

"Okay you two love birds!" Sora shouted, "S-Sora!" Yuzu blushed at his comment, "Let's get this under way!" he steadied his Duel Disk, the other two nodded, doing the same. They then synced to the ARC System, registering that it was in Training mode. Though to the Duelist, they would still treat this a regular duel.

"DUEL!" the three yelled drawing five cards each.

Turn 1

"Just like back then, I'll take the first turn!" Yuya declared, "I'll begin this show by Normal Summoning Sungazer Magician!" appearing on his field was one of the little sisters of Stargazer. She gave a wave as she appeared.

Sungazer Magician: LIGHT, Level: 4 [Spellcaster/Pendulum/Effect] ATK/1600 DEF/1200, PS: 2

"Her effect! When Summoned, she let's me add a Spell from my Deck to my Hand!" he added his choice, "I added the Field Spell, Sky iris!" he told them, "Which I now activate!" he activated it instantly. The sky above Yuya gained a rainbow effect.

"While this card is on my Field, You cannot target Odd-Eyes or Magician monsters in my Pendulum Zones for your card effects!" he explained, "But that's not all!" he declared, waving an arm over the card, "Once per turn, I can target a face-up card I control, to destroy it!" he destroyed his only other card, Sungazer, sending her card to the Extra Deck.

"Doing this allows me to add a Odd-Eyes monster from my Deck to my Hand!" he picked his choice, it was ejected from his Deck, added into his hand. "I added to my Hand, Odd-Eyes Mirage Dragon!"

"Then I activate the Spell, Pendulum Call!" he then said, "Now by discarding a card from my hand..." He sent Second Chance Magician to the Graveyard, "I can add 2 Magician Pendulum Monsters from my Deck to my Hand!" he added his two choices. "I added to my Hand, Dragonpulse and Sand Spear Magician." he said, putting Sand Spear into his hand and taking Mirage Dragon's card, holding it and Dragonpulse out.

"With the Scale 1 Dragonpulse Magician, and Scale 8 Odd-Eyes Mirage Dragon, I set the Pendulum Scale!" he declared, placing the cards into the Pendulum Zones. P-E-N-D-U-L-U-M appeared across the blade.

The two usual pillars of light appeared, in one, Dragonpulse, he was a young boy, dressed in priest like robes, reminiscent of dragon scales, his hair, which was long was braided into two locks, their appearance like that of dragon tails. Carried in his hands was double sides blade, which he spun around before taking a stance. A scale of 1 appeared beneath him.

The other, Odd-Eyes Mirage Dragon, a somewhat small dragon, about the same height as Stargazer, who towered over Yuya. It was mostly green, thought it underbelly side was a little green, it was covered with white parts of armour on its thighs, chest, and head, its neck was long, the same length as its tail, with ended with three spike clustered together. And on its face was five spikes, one thick one resting on its forehead as a horn, and the other four were on its chin, the two middle horns were longer than the two on either side. Like Odd-Eyes, it's eyes were dichromatic, red and green. A scale of 8 beneath appeared.

"With this I can Summon monsters Levels 2 through 7 all at once!" he began, the giant pendant above began to sway, "Pretty!" Ayu cheered out, the pendant was getting faster. "Swing pendulum of the soul, draw an arc of light across the ether!" a portal above appeared, "Pendulum Summon! Now come forth, my monsters!" he shouted as two lights appeared from the portal above.

"Return to the Field, Sungazer Magician, from the Extra Deck!" Sungazer appeared once more on the field, "And joining her, from my Hand, Sand Spear Magician!" The sand bandit magician appeared, next to Sungazer.

Sand Spear Magician: EARTH, Level: 4 [Spellcaster/Pendulum/Effect] ATK/1000 DEF/1800, PS: 2

The crowd clapped at the Pendulum Summon once again, "Boring!" Sora called out, a bored expression to his face, "Come on, Yuya! We've seen it a hundred times! You need to spice things up" he added. "After all, we know what you can do now!" he teased out.

Yuya smiled at his comment, "Alright then!" Yuya smiled, he then turned to their audience, "Your attention please!" he began, "At the moment, I control two monsters..." Sora wondered where this was going, "But..." he began again, "Notice something about them?" he asked the crowd.

It took them a moment, looking over at his field, Yuzu and Sora were also doing this, Yuzu looked over their cards from her Duel Disk, finally noticing what he was going on about. "They're both the same Level!" she declared, shocking most of the crowd. Though Matthew and the rest of their group smiled at the sight.

Yuya smiled at her, "Correct! And now!" he threw his hand into the air, "With the Level 4 Sand Spear and Sungazer, I build the Overlay Network!" at the mention, both Magicians turned into energy, Sand Spear orange, and Sungazer yellow. The two then shot into the air, the network appeared before Yuya's feet, the two were then sucked into the spiral, releasing a bright light.

"Magicians of time and stars..." Timegazer and Stargazer's forms appeared within a dark void, "Unite your power and bring forth a stellar sight!" the two then overlapped, releasing a bright light, illuminating the void they were in.

"Xyz Summon!" Yuya called out as his Extra Deck opened, let him take the ejected card and place it over the two Magicians. "Come forth, Rank 4! Timestar Magician!" he shouted as the light got brighter.

Appearing from the light was a new Magician, he was somewhat a combination of both Stargazer and Timegazer, having Stargazer's face, with Timegazer's hair style and colour, his clothing was also a combination of their clothing. He also wielded both of their items, in his right arm was Stargazer's Astronomy Staff, and the other had Timegazer's Chrono Gauntlet. Like other Xyz Monsters, two purple Overlay Units orbited the monster.

Timestar Magician: DARK, Rank: 4 [Spellcaster/Xyz/Effect: ATK/2400 DEF/1200, OLUs: 2

This time the crowd clapped even harder at the sight of the Summoned Monster, "Incredible!" "Amazing!", "The Shivers!" the three kids cheered out in that order, "A perfect Xyz Summon!" Azara cheered, "Not just any Xyz Summon..." Ronald began gazing at the monster, "A Pendulum Xyz Summon!" he added, the sight of it made him wish that they, the Resistance had access to Pendulum Summon ages ago, likely would have turned the tide of battle for them.

Matthew also gazed at the Magician, as well as its Summoner, "Well done Yuya..." he muttered, proud of the boy.

Yuya was taking a few bows, "Thank you! Thank you!" he said to their applause. "Yuya..." Yuzu said amazed at the monster, he really was growing, Sora however was glaring at the sight of the Xyz Monster... though something was off, he wasn't as mad as he thought he would be at the sight of the Xyz Monster, he couldn't place why though.

"And now, to continue with the rest of the first act!" he said, "I activate Timestar's effect!" Just as one of the Magician's units reached the peak of its orbit, the magician, not even looking, raised its staff, hitting the purple orb, causing it to release rainbow ray of light. Timestar's OLUs: 2 - 1 = 1 "Once per turn, by using an Overlay Unit, I can add to my Hand, from either my Deck, Graveyard or from the Extra Deck face-up, 1 DARK Spellcaster!" he added his pick.

"From my Deck, I add Shaman Magician!" he told them, "And to end my turn, I set a card face-down!" A face-down appeared by Sky Iris's face-up card. "Now who's next?" he asked.

Yuya's Hand: x 2

Turn 2

Just as Yuzu was about to take the next turn- "Me!" Sora declared, the system registered him for the next turn, "Sora!" she cried out in surprise, "Sorry Yuzu, you gotta be quick on your feet!" he explained, sticking his tongue out at her innocently, joking with her.

"Right..." He then looked over his cards, smiling as he took one of them, "I set the Scale 1 Edge Imp Cotton Eater!" he declared, placing the card into one of his Pendulum Zone. One pillar appeared upon his field, this Edge Imp was comprised of cotton, it was just a body, a red cloth was sewn into the creature at the bottom. It had two wings, its 'feathers' were formed by the plating of razor sharp knives. It's wide mouth was also full of blades, adding to its creepiness. Its scale of 1 appeared below.

"Then I Normal Summon Fluffal Owl!" A teddy version of an owl appeared, having feather eyebrows, which were actual wings, and wearing small glasses, it hooted as it appeared.

Fluffal Owl: EARTH, Level: 2 [Fairy/Effect: ATK/1000 DEF/1000

"Owl's effect! When Summoned from my Hand, I can add a Polymerization from my Deck to my Hand!" he added one, Ronald glared at the mention of the card. But this hate turned to shock, realising the implication of Sora with Pendulum Monsters, "Shit! Now Academia will get Pendulum Summoning!" he thought, realising this may have been why Sora was here to begin with. He was just too late to realise they had succeeded.

"I'll activate it!" Sora activated his gained card instantly, "I now Fuse Edge Imp Sabres with Fluffal Penguin from my Hand!" he declared, the two from his hand appeared next to Owl. The demonic row of scissors appeared, and did a cuddly plush penguin with a bowtie made of angel wings and earmuffs, They then glowed red and blue.

"Claws of the demon! Cuddly explorer to the cold seas! Become one and show us your new form!" he chanted as the two swirled into the Fusion Vortex, "Fusion Summon! Appear! The sea devil that steals freedom and pulls everything into darkness! Level 8! Frightfur Kraken

A new monster, Fluffal Octopus, quickly appeared, before its plush body began to expand, eventually ripping and tearing as Kraken was released from within, the Frightfur cephalopod monster was mostly purple in colour, with light blue on the underside of its tentacles. Two of these tentacles had a guillotine blade attached to them. On its head were several hook, sharp to the touch. Its mouth was agape, revealing its two red glowing demonic cartoonish eyes.

Frightfur Kraken: WATER, Level: 8 [Fiend/Fusion/Effect] ATK/2200 DEF/3000

"Fluffal Penguin's effect! When sent to the Graveyard for the Fusion Summon of a Frightfur Fusion Monster, I can draw 2 cards, but then I must discard 1 card!" he drew two, then discarded one of his other cards.

"Cotton Eater's Pendulum Effect!" Sora declared, "All Fusion Monsters I control gains 300 ATK!" he explained, Kraken glowed, surging with power, Kraken's ATK: 2200 + 300 = 2500 "That's not all! Since I Fusion Summoned a Frightfur Monster, Cotton Eater let's me now draw 1 card!" he did just that.

"And now for Kraken's effect! Once per turn, I can target 1 monster you control, and send it straight to the Graveyard!" he explained smiling at Yuya. "Since you control only Timestar Magician, it goes bye bye!" he joked.

Kraken was sent out its two bladed tentacles, "Not so fast!" Yuya called, "I activate the Trap, Magician's Mystical Barrier!" Yuya declared as his face-down flipped up, revealing a Magician monster surrounded by a mystical barrier, which was preventing a beam from striking the protected Magician.

"When you activate an effect that targets a Spellcaster monster I control, that effect is negated!" Just before the blades could hit Timestar, a barrier erupted, deflecting the blades. "Then for every Magician monster I control, I can draw a card!" Yuya did just that, drawing 1 card.

Sora pouted, but shook it off, "I now set two cards and end my turn!" two cards appeared on Sora's field, before fading away. "You're lucky Yuya, as Kraken can't attack the turn it uses that effect, but as this is a Battle Royale, no one can attack until we've all had a turn!" he said.

He then turned to Yuzu, "Okay Yuzu, the spotlight is on you! Show us what you've learned!" he told her, they all turned their attention was aimed at the third Duelist in this duel, Yuzu.

Yuzu nodded, finally it was her turn, she smiled, looking down at her card, she had a good hand. "Okay!" she took one of her cards, "I activate the Spell, Polymerization!" she said, making them smile at the sight. She placed the card into her Duel Disk.

"With this card, I fuse together Sonata the Melodious Diva and Harp the Melodious Musician from my Hand!" she said as Sonata, and a new Melodious, A young girl like Sonata, though her colours were mostly purple and pink, her skirt was long and flowing, music notes adorned her clothing, one even framing her face. Carried in her hands, close to her chest was a harp with a flower incorporated into it. Sonata sang, while Harp played her instrument.

"Let your singing voice ring! To the tunes of your instrument! By the guidance of the baton, gather your power!" both monsters glowed, blue and pink for once, "Fusion Summon!" she brought her hands together over her chest, her Extra Deck opened, ejecting a card from it. She grabbed it.

"Take to the stage! Schuberta the Melodious Maestra!" she called out, placing the card onto her blade, causing a grown woman to appear, her hair was long, flowing and red, she was wearing a dress of black and red, a cape on her back. In her hand was a baton, carried if it was a rapier. She swung it about, slashing at the air around her.

Schuberta the Melodious Maestra: LIGHT, Level: 6 [Fairy/Fusion/Effect] ATK/2400 DEF/2000

The crowd clapped for her, "Way to go Yuzu!" Azara cheered out the loudest, Yuya and Sora smiled at her. "OH YUZU!" Shuzo cried, catching all their attention, tears were streaming down his face, "I'M SO PROUD OF YOU!" he cried out more. Making them all sweat drop at the sight of their principal a crying mess. "Dad!" Yuzu said, blushing in embarrassment.

"Oh that's right..." Andy muttered, "Wasn't this meant to be a surprise for him?" he asked no one in particular. "Oh yeah..." Oliver said deadpanning, having forgotten that detail. "Well there goes the surprise..." he added, just from looking at Shuzo, he likely knew beforehand. "Well all that matters is that Masumi will be surprised still!" Azara said, smiling at the sight of Yuzu embarrassed

Yuzu shook her head, ignoring her father's reaction. "Harp's effect activates!" Yuzu announced, "When sent to the Graveyard from the Hand, I can add a different Melodious Monster from my Deck to my Hand!" her choice was added, one of her new Pendulum Monsters. She would hold onto it a bit longer.

"And then I end my turn with two face-downs," two face-downs appeared, before fading. "Alright Yuya, show us what else you can do!" she winked at her boyfriend.

Turn 4

Yuya gladly began his turn, "My turn!" he drew this time, "At this moment, I activate Schuberta's effect!" Yuzu recalled, "Once per turn, during either turn, I can target up to 3 cards in our Graveyards, and banish them!" she declared, she points at both Yuya and Sora, "From your Graveyard, Yuya, I banish Pendulum Call and Second Chance Magician!" she said to him. "As for you Sora, I banish Edge Imp Sabres!" she told him.

"No fair! I needed that!" Sora whined out, causing a laugh from the crowd, Yuya shrugged, accepting his girlfriend's request, both of their Duel Disks banished the mentioned cards. Yuzu smiled, "Then the rest of her effect! For every card banished this way, she gains 200 ATK for each one until the end of the turn." she smiled as her monster glowed with power. Schuberta's ATK: 2400 + 300 = 3000

"Good move there Yuzu!" he said to her, she smiled at the compliment. "Now where was I?" he asked himself, "Oh yeah! I activate Timestar's effect again!" Timestar used its remaining Overlay Unit 1 - 1 = 0 (Timestar) "I add Jungle Claw Magician!" he added another card to his hand.

"Then, I activate Sky Iris's effect! This time I destroy Mirage Dragon!" Mirage Dragon was destroyed, leaving one of his Pendulum Zones empty. "This let's me add Odd-Eyes Persona Dragon to my Hand!" he added another card to his Hand.

"I set Scale 1 Persona Dragon in the Pendulum Scale!" he set the card immediately into his Scale. A new dragon, this one was a dark pink in skin colour, with bone white armour plating covering its thighs, back of its claws, chest, upper long neck and head. On its back were four spires of this bone white armour, gold trimmings were fitted on these parts, on its shoulders were two orbs, one green, the other red. It's eyes like any other Odd-Eyes monster were different colour, the opposite colour of the orbs of its shoulders. A scale of 1 appeared beneath it.

"Yuya, what are you up to?" Yuzu asked her boyfriend, Sora was just as confused, making Yuya chuckle, "Oh you'll see, but first." he continued his turn, "I Normal Summon Shaman Magician!" The tribal looking female Magician appeared, waving her tiki staff.

Shaman Magician: DARK, Level: 3 [Spellcaster/Effect] ATK/1400 DEF/1200 ,PS: 5

"And now for a shocking surprise!" he took one of his cards and revealed it, "I activate the Spell, Pendulum Fusion!" he proclaimed, inserting the card into his Duel Disk, "Pendulum..." "Fusion?" both his opponents said, not knowing the card.

"This was one of my gifts from DMC, which I'm putting to use instantly!" Yuya explained, thankful for the gift, seems DMC knew what the Pendulum Summon could do before he did it seems. "This card let me Fusion Summon using monsters I control..." he smiled, "But if I control 2 cards in my Pendulum Zones, I can use them as well!" they gasped at this news.

"I now fuse Odd-Eyes Persona Dragon in the Pendulum Zone with Shaman Magician!" Shaman on the field glowed blue, as did Persona Dragon, who glowed red. The two were slowly pulled into the Fusion Vortex.

"Dichromatic eyed dragon of the persona, become one with the mage of the spirits! To bring forth a new power!" the two swirled into the vortex, releasing a bright light, "Fusion Summon!" Yuya brought his hands together, his duel disk hand a fist, hitting his other palm.

"Appear! Dragon as swift as the winds! Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon!" Appearing from a flurry of green winds, which dispersed, revealing the WIND Odd-Eyes monster, roaring as it appeared.

Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon: WIND, Level: 7 [Dragon/Fusion/Effect] ATK/2500 DEF/3000

"That's awesome Yuya!" Sora cheered out, excited as this revelation, "So even effects like that card allow you to use your Pendulum Scale for material!" he proclaimed, "Correct!" Yuya said back.

"Now Vortex Dragon's effect activates!" he said, "When Special Summoned, I can target 1 face-up monster on the Field, return it to the Hand!" he pointed at Sora, "Sorry Sora, but Frightfur Kraken is going back into the sea where it belongs!" he joked with his opponent. Vortex Dragon then kicked up a storm, sending it over to the stuffed Kraken plush, making it disappear. Sora put its card back into his Extra Deck.

"Come on you two, I know you're lovebirds, but stop picking on me!" he whined, stomping his feet in a little tantrum. "Sorry Sora, but I needed that to happen, as now Vortex Dragon's other effect kicks in!" he told them.

"When a monster leaves the field due to his effect, I can now target another monster, it loses ATK equal to half the original ATK of the returned monster until the end of the turn!" Yuzu gasped, knowing he was aiming for her monster.

"I pick Schuberta! She now loses half of Kraken's ATK! Which is 1100!" he said, Vortex Dragon hurled a small wing blast, hitting Schuberta, taking some of her power away. 3000 - 1100 = 1900 (Schuberta)

"Now I set the Scale 6 Jungle Claw Magician in the Pendulum Scale!" he set the mentioned card into the other Pendulum Zone, having been freed up when Persona was used as Fusion Material.

"Jungle Claw's Pendulum Effect! All Magicians gain 400 ATK!" he said, Jungle Claw howled like a wolf, which caused Timestar to gain power. Timestar's ATK: 2400 + 400 = 2800

"But that's not all! Now I can Summon monsters, Levels 2 through 5 all at once!" his Pendulum Rift opened once more, "Pendulum Summon! Appear from my Extra Deck!" he shouted out, two lights escaped the rift.

"Once again! Shaman Magician!" she tribal mage appeared, "And joining her is Odd-Eyes Mirage Dragon!" Mirage Dragon appeared, this time on the Field as a monster.

Odd-Eyes Mirage Dragon: DARK, Level: 3 [Dragon/Pendulum/Effect] ATK/1200 DEF/600 ,PS: 8

"Due to Jungle Claw, Shaman gains 400 ATK!" the mentioned monster glowed, Shaman's ATK: 1400 + 400 = 1800

"Great..." Sora groaned out, "Two Level 3 monsters..." he knew what was coming, "You guessed it Sora!" Yuya grinned out, "I now use the Level 3 Shaman and Mirage Dragon to build the Overlay Network!" he declared. Both monsters turned into purple energy, they repeated what occurred last time. Being sucked into the galaxy that formed at Yuya's feet.

"No one understands the explosive force at your command, so appear before us and show them some fireworks!" the monster snapped its fingers within the storm, the friction of this action caused a spark like that of a firework. "Xyz Summon! Appear, Rank 3! Dynamite Magician!" he called out.

Appearing on the Field was a new Magician, wearing a dark brown trench coat, many straps here and there, attached to them were many assortment of explosives. Covering his forearms were red gauntlets, shaped to look like a triangle stacks of dynamite. He wore no hat, letting them see his unruly frizzy hair, his face, which was fair skinned, was covered in what appeared to be soot, from repeated explosions to the face... Likely done to himself, his expression was one of hysterical laughter, waving his hands about, leaving a trail of fizzling sparks. Two red Overlay Units surrounded the monster.

Dynamite Magician: FIRE, Rank: 3 [Spellcaster/Xyz/Effect] ATK/1800 DEF/ 1500, OLUs: 2

The crowd were stunned, "Fusion, into Pendulum, and then into an Xyz Summon..." Matthew muttered to himself. amazed, he smiled, the Pendulum Summon truly was an amazing mechanic to use... He couldn't wait for his Duel later on. "Wow he's really going for it, ain't he?" Oliver said amazed.

"Another gift from DMC?" Sora asked, not a fan of the Xyz Monster, watching it follow the sparks that trailed after the waving of his hands, "Oh I remember him!" Yuzu said smiling, "He was one of those cards you showed me years ago..." she smiled, recalling that time she and him devised strategies back then for his new cards, before the Yusho incident. Though she frowned at the monster, "But I don't recall him looking so crazed..." she too watched the monster's gaze, it was mesmerized by its own spark explosions.

Yuya looked sheepish, "Yeah..." he rubbed the back of his head. To be honest, the card was once called Performapal Firework Magician, one of his Extra Deck monsters he had ordered back then, but like with all his Performapals when he first Pendulum Summoned, even the cards he hid, it had changed as well... Though why he changed into a pyromaniac Magician, he would never know.

"Anyways, due to Jungle Claw's Pendulum Effect, Dynamite also gains 400 ATK!" he carried on with his turn, Dynamite's ATK: 1800 + 400 = 2200

"I now activate Dynamite's effect! Once per turn, by using an Overlay Unit..." One of Dynamite's units was absorbed into one of his bombs, which also triggered another one, exciting its owner, causing him to grab the two lit explosives, and juggle them. Dynamite's OLUs: 2 - 1 = 1

"For every Magician I control, I can target a card for each one on the Field, and destroy them!" he declared, "I target your Cotton Eater, and your face-down to the left Yuzu!" Dynamite then threw both his lit explosives, one at Cotton Eater, destroying it, making Sora send the card to his Extra Deck. And the targeted face-down on Yuzu's field, both exploding with mini fireworks.

"Dynamite cannot attack the turn this effect is used!" Yuya added, "Battle!" he declared, both Sora and Yuzu readied themselves. "Timestar Magician! Attack Fluffal Owl!" he said, his Magician soared, flying over to Sora's field.

"I activate the Trap, Punch in the Box!" Sora declared, his face-down flipped up, "You know how this works Yuya!" he smiled out, "When you control 2 or more monsters when attacking, I can negate that attack! Then-" "Vortex Dragon's effect!" Yuya cut him off, Sora lost his smile. "When you activate a Spell, Trap or Monster's effect, I can shuffle 1 face-up Pendulum Monster from my Extra Deck back into my Deck..." he took his only available card in there, Persona Dragon, returning it to his Deck, which shuffled itself.

"This let's me negate the activated card and destroy it!" he explained as Sora gasped, his Trap was negated, and then destroyed, "Astronomy Cutter!" Yuya called out as Timestar's used his powers from Stargazer, using its signature attack, striking the plush owl monster, destroying it. Sora's LP: 4000 - 900 = 3100

"And now it's your turn Yuzu!" Yuya smiled to his girlfriend, "Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon! Attack Schuberta!" Vortex roared, quickly firing a green energy beam at Schuberta, destroying her instantly. Yuzu's LP: 4000 - 1400 = 2600

Yuzu made her move "I activate Schuberta's effect!" she yelled out, "When destroyed, I can add 1 Melodious monster from my Deck to my Hand!" she added a card to her hand. "Then I activate the Trap, Melodious's Encore!" her remaining face-down flipped up, the image was Mozarta, coming back to the stage, the crowd requesting an encore from her.

"When a Melodious Monster is destroyed, I can Special Summon her back to the Field!" Schuberta once again appeared on the Field, her ATK back to normal. "She can't be destroyed for the rest of the turn!" she added onto the effect of her card.

Their group, the older lot, noted her moves, they were impressed, not only at regaining her monster, but also increasing her Hand. Yuya was satisfied with what he had accomplished, he then took a card from his Hand, and slotted it into his Duel Disk, "I set a card and end my turn!" one face-down appeared, fading way.

Turn 5

Sora softly glared at Yuya, "Alright then Yuya, if that's how you want to play! Let's do it! I draw!" he drew his card. Flipping it to see what it was, "I Normal Summon Fluffal Mouse!" appearing on his Field was a small plush toy, a mouse, greenish blue in colour with white for its under belly, it wore a little scarf, with angel wings on either side of its body, and carried in its little paws was a chocolate glazed donut with sprinkles.

Fluffal Mouse: EARTH, Level: 1 [Fairy/Effect] ATK/100 DEF/100

The mouse squeaked cutely as it appeared, "Awww!" the sight of it melted the hearts of all the young maidens watching the duel, even Yuzu. "So cute!" Ayu cried out, eyes closed in joy.

"Mouse's effect! I can Special Summon two more Mouse from my Deck!" two cards ejected from his Deck, which he took and place onto his blade, causing two more of the same Mouse to appear behind the first one.

"Then I activate the Spell, Fluffal Gacha!" he used his last cards in his hand, the image showed Toy Vendor, releasing several Gacha pods, contained within them were an assortment of Fluffal Monsters, one of the pods was opened, revealing Fluffal Bear.

"This card let's me tribute any number of Fluffal Monsters on my Field." he tributed all three of his monsters, "Doing this let's me draw a card for every tributed monster!" he explained, drawing 3 cards due to the card's effect. He smiled at what he got. "Yes!" he cried out in joy, taking two of his drawn cards and revealing them, a delighted look to his face.

"With Scale 1 Frightfur Meister, and Scale 9 Frightfur Bone Diver! I set the Pendulum Scale!" he proclaimed, placing the cards in the far ends of his blade, causing P-E-N-D-U-L-U-M to appear across the blade.

Two pillars of light appeared, to his right, a puppet of ghoulish ghost appeared, garbed in dull grey cloth as a cloak, rope for stitching was sewn into its arms, which had comically large hands. In the other pillar, a scuba diver, though it was merely a skeleton, with an oversized head. A scale of 9 appeared beneath it.

"Bone Diver's Pendulum Effect!" Sora declared, Bone Diver suddenly dived into the dark portal that appeared before it, "Once per turn, I can target up to 2 cards in my Graveyard or banished, and add them to my Hand!" he explained, "At least 1 Edge Imp monster though." he added, suddenly Bone Diver emerged with a treasure chest, which it opened, revealing a dazzling golden light. Bone Diver shook the chest, letting two lights shoot out, hitting Sora awaiting hand to grab. The lights took the form of cards.

"I added Edge Imp Sabres and Fluffal Penguin!" he told them. "And now!" he smiled, waving over to his Pendulum Scales, "I can now Summon monsters levels 2 through 8 all at once!" he began. "The world is full of amazing toys! But the dangerous ones are the most fun!" he chanted, at this a Pendulum Rift opened up right above him.

"Pendulum Summon!" he cheered out, "Now appear, my toys!" his Pendulum rift spewed out four lights of different colours. "From my Extra Deck! Edge Imp Cotton Eater!" the cotton monster appeared, fluttering its wings to stay airborne.

"Edge Imp Sabres!" the demonic row of scissors appeared, snipping at the air as they did, "Fluffal Penguins!" the cuddly plush penguin squawked, waddling about as it was called out, "And finally, Fluffal Giraffe!" the plush giraffe ran across the field, becoming coming to a stand by Sora's side.

Edge Imp Cotton Eater: DARK, Level: 7 [Fiend/Pendulum/Effect] ATK/2400 DEF/2000, PS: 1

The crowd clapped for him, even Yuya and Yuzu did, "I did it! I did it!" Sora cheered out in joy, jumping up and down at his first ever Pendulum Summon, "That was impressive for his first Pendulum Summon, right Ronald?" Oliver said impressed by the Summon, turning to face the mentioned boy. But was confused as he saw Ronald glaring, specifically right at Sora.

"Ronald?" he asked, getting no response from the boy, who continued his glare, "Damn it..." Ronald muttered to himself, things likely wouldn't turn out well for the Resistance now... That is if Sora never made it back to Fusion that is.

Meanwhile Sora continued jumping up and down in joy-, "SORA!" Yuya snapped, stopping Sora in his tracks, "Huh?" Sora stopped jumping to look at the older boy, "I'm proud of you for your first Pendulum Summon..." Yuya said to him, "But we've got a duel to continue, plus I'm sure the others would like to practice their Pendulum Summons before they go to qualify..." he waved over the audience, who seemed eager for their turn to Duel.

"Oh right..." Sora clapped his face, getting back into the Duel. "I activate Fluffal Giraffe's effect!" he said as the plush giraffe glowed, "This card let's me Fusion Summon without Polymerization!" he told them.

"I now Fuse Edge Imp Sabres, Fluffal Giraffe, and Fluffal Penguin!" the three mentioned monsters glowed, blue, red and yellow, "Claws of the demon! Long neck of the giraffe! Cuddly explorer to the cold seas! Become one and show us your new form! they swirled into the Fusion Vortex.

"Fusion Summon!" Sora yelled out, "Show yourself! Mystical jungle beast that rips everything to shreds! Frightfur Tiger!" appearing on Sora's field was the new monster, a giant plush toy of a blue tiger, though like all Frightfur monsters, its was demonic, its torso was split in half like Frightfur Bear, having the same sharp scissors like that monster, sticking out of its back were the blades of two other small scissors, their other blade stabbed into the plush paws of the tiger toy. It's head was comically large, covering its body were a lot of stitches, the biggest one at the top of its skull, mended poorly back together. Two wiggle eyes like Frightfur Bear, and within its mouth were its set of demonic eyes. The possessed ruined toy seemed to laugh hysterically as it landed.

Frightfur Tiger: DARK, Level: 6 [Fiend/Fusion/Effect] ATK/1900 DEF/1200

"Fluffal Penguin's effect! When used as Fusion Material, I can draw 2 cards, but then must discard 1 card!" he drew two, then discarded one of his other cards. "Then Tiger's effect! Not only do all Frightfur monsters gains 300 ATK for every Fluffal and Frightfur monster I control..." Tiger glowed, Tiger's ATK: 1900 + 300 = 2200

"And when Fusion Summoned, I destroy 1 card for each of its Fusion Material!" he explained, "It took three monsters to Summon it, So I'll destroy your Sky Iris, Vortex Dragon, and your face-down!" he said, Tiger's stomach scissor blades extended, reaching over the mentioned cards, the two Xyz Magicians hopped out of the way, the scissors closed, destroying the targeted cards.

"With Sky Iris gone, your Pendulum Zones can be targeted for effects!" he said, "I activate the Continious Trap, Frightfur Jar!" he said as his card flipped up. This caused a giant claw machine, covered in sharp blades, to appear, it seemed to be alive, it had arms, which were clawed, and in one of them was a axe. Like Frightfur monsters it had red glowing evil eyes. Contained within the machine were pods, which seemed to be full of demonic sets of eyes.

"Now once per turn, I can discard a card from my Hand..." he sent Fusion Fortress to his Graveyard, causing a coin to appear and insert into the claw machine, causing the claw within the move, "Then I draw a card!" he drew a card. "And if that card is an Edge Imp, which it is!" he revealed the card, Edge Imp Chains.

"This let's me destroy 1 card on the Field!" he pointed at Jungle Claw, "I destroy Jungle Claw in your Pendulum Zone!" the claw machine grabbed a pod, and dropped it down a funnel, which then launched the pod at the mentioned target.

"Not so fast!" Yuya called out, "You should have destroyed Timestar, as it's effect activates!" he said, "If Pendulum Monsters, as Monsters or Pendulum Scales would be destroyed by battle or effects, I can choose to send a Spellcaster from my Deck to the Graveyard instead!" he revealed, "What!? Are you kidding me?!" Sora cried out.

"I send Moongazer Magician to my Graveyard!" he sent the mentioned to his Graveyard, causing a quick ball of light, looking like an Overlay Unit to be absorbed into Timestar's Chrono Gauntlet from Timegazer, causing the item to extend, "Temporal Guard!" he called out as the Magician used Timegazer's powers, reversing the object flow of time, sending the hurling pods back into the claw game machine, as if it never left.

"Oh man... I thought It wasn't useful any more..." Sora groaned out, "Whatever! Battle! Cotton Eater eat that Dynamite Magician!" his cotton monster roared, Cotton Eater took flight, gunning for the pyromaniac. It was surprisingly fast for its size.

"Oh god, I wouldn't want to be chased by that thing!" Oliver sweated, that thing would give him a nightmare. Cotton Eater soon hovered before Dynamite, who simply laughed at his soon to be demise, the Edge Imp opened its mouth wide and gobbled the Magician whole. Yuya's LP: 4000 - 200 = 3800

Cotton munched on its snack, but halted, gaining a shocked expression. "Huh?" Sora said confused. They all then heard a ticking noise, coming from within the cotton beast. "Dynamite's other effect activates!" Yuya declared.

"When destroyed by battle..." Cotton Eater's woolly body swelled in one spot, causing a lump, caused by an explosion from within, "The monster that destroy it is also destroyed!" Sora gasped out stunned, they all watched as the cotton monster gained more similar lumps all over its body, before its entire body swelled- *BOOM!* The monster exploded in a flurry of cotton and fireworks. One of them taking a form of Cotton Eater, chibi form.

"Pretty!" Ayu called out, they all watched the firework show, puffs of cotton falling to be ground "Aw man!" he groaned out, taking his card, placing it back into his Extra Deck "Guess that's it then... I end my turn with a face-down..." a card appeared and faded away.

Turn 6

"Alright then! Yuzu, you're up!" he called to her. They then all turned their gaze to her. "Okay!" she began, "I can do this..." she thought to herself, "My turn..." she placed her fingers over her Deck, "I draw!" she drew her card, raising it into the air. She flipped it, to reveal that it was Mozarta "Perfect!" she said with a smile, "I activate Encore's effect from my Graveyard!" she shouted out.

"By banishing this card..." she banished the Trap, "I can add a Melodious Monster in my Graveyard to my Hand!" she added her choice, "I add Harp back to my Hand!" she told them adding the card. "Since I control a Melodious Monster, I can Special Summon this card from my Hand! Wave the Melodious Diva!"

Appearing on her field was a young woman, her hair was golden, long and wavy, reaching down to her lower back, her dress was short, reaching her knees, amber in colour, with a line of music notes flowing across the bottom of her dress. On her back were a pair of music notes for wings. She sang a small note as she appeared.

Wave the Melodious Diva: LIGHT, Level: 4 [Fairy/Effect] ATK/1500 DEF/1200

"When Wave is Special Summoned, she let's me add a Level 4 or below Melodious" monster from my Deck to my Hand!" a card ejected itself from her Deck, "I add Solo, and now I Normal Summon her!" a pink girl wearing a short red dress appeared, with puffy shoulder sleeves, looking like a ballerina, even doing a twirl like one as she appeared.

Solo the Melodious Songstress: LIGHT, Level: 4 [Fairy/Effect] ATK/1600 DEF/1000

"Now she controls two Level 4 monsters!" A random student declared, Yuzu paused, she then glanced at all of the crowd, at their group of friends, they were waiting for what came next, she then looked over to Yuya, recalling her conversation on the Ferris Wheel last night, feeling better about the whole thing, especially with Yuto. Yuya smiled fondly, knowing what she was thinking. He nodded, encouraging her.

She then smiled, calming herself down, ridding herself of her negative growing thoughts, "No more hesitation..." she thought, "Here goes!" she said, waving her other hand into the air, "I now use the Level 4 Wave and Solo to build the Overlay Network!" both Melodious monsters turned into yellow energy, solo a lighter shade, the two soared into the air, just as the galaxy network appeared at her feet. The two energies were then pulled into the galaxy, causing a light to erupt from it.

"Harmonize your voice with nature, to soothe the hearts of the wicked!" she chanted, the monster taking form from a dazzling ball of light, "Xyz Summon!" she brought her hands together. Her Extra Deck opened, she took the ejected card and placed it over its Material.

"Take to the stage! Rank 4! Rhythm the Melodious Diva!" Appearing on the field was a young maiden, blue in skin tone, wearing a blue and black wavy ballgown appeared, her hair was short and white, some of her strands were silver. Her eyes were a gentle pink, the cuffs of her sleeves were flower petal in design, orbiting her at a distance were two yellow Overlay Units.

The crowd clapped for her, cheers could be heard also, "She did it! An Xyz Summon!" Azara clapped out, Nigel smiled at her reaction, he also noted Sora's disdained frown at the Xyz Monster, then recalling he did that with every Xyz monster. Questioning why that was.

"Rhythm's effect! When Xyz Summoned, she let's me add a LIGHT Fairy-type from my Deck to my Hand!" she added her choice, getting ready for her next move. "And now!" she took two of her cards, revealing them to be Pendulum Monsters.

"With Scale 2 Clara the Melodious Musician and Scale 9 Harp the Melodious Musician! I now set the Pendulum Scale!" she declared, placing the two in the far end of her blade, P-E-N-D-U-L-U-M appeared across her blade.

Two pillars of light appeared on either side of her, with two monsters ascending into the air, Clara, was like Harp, but her dress was a sapphire blue in colour, and reached to her feet. The lower half had a second layer of cloth over the first, the second was designed to appear like flowers, in her hands was her instrument, a clarinet. Harp appeared in the other pillar, the Scales, 2 for Clara, and 9 for Harp appeared beneath them.

Before she could go any further, her bracelet hummed to life, causing a bright pink flash, at the same time, Yuya's pendant flashed, gaining his attention, before shining its own bright blue light, "Whoa! What's happening?!" Oliver cried out, all them had to shield their eyes.

"What's going on?!" Yuzu said in a panic, at first she thought somehow Yuto was nearby, as this is what caused the flash, but then she became stunned, as one of her two cards was glowing, it was Mozarta's card, the entire card then turned white, moments later the light began to peel off, shocking her as the light had revealed something amazing.

She was amazed, smiling at what had happened, "It's time!" she declared facing forward, the lights from both accessories slowly deemed, "With this I can Summon monsters Levels 3 through 8 all together!" she began, before thinking of the right chant "Play your melodies and resonate your hearts to bring forth a spectacular performance!" she chanted as a Pendulum Rift appeared before her.

"Pendulum Summon!" she yelled out, "Now come forth, my maidens!" she yellowed, two lights, red and green flew out of the rift, "Appear, Sophina the Melodious Maestra!" the high level Maestra appeared, laughing as she did. Spreading her harp like wings wide, swiping the keys of her clear piano.

"And joining her in her all new form! Level 8! Mozarta the Melodious Maestra!" Appearing next to Sophina was Mozarta, but her form was new, her tiara was now golden, with three gems fitted into place, from left to right, a ruby, sapphire and emerald. Her dress had changed, now dual coloured, her upper half was mostly the same, but was spaced here and there, the cuffs on her wrist had flower petals sewn into them, the lower half had two layers like before, but the underlayer was sparkling emerald green, and layered atop of it, surrounding her lower dress were several elongated panels of armour, rose red in colour, and finally her wings, not much had happened other than pink energy had gathered at the the tips, making them longer. She gave a joyful song, her baton was armed and ready.

Sophina the Melodious Maestra: LIGHT, Level: 7 [Fairy/Effect] ATK/2300 DEF/1700

Mozarta the Melodious Maestra: LIGHT, Level: 8 [Fairy/Pendulum/Effect] ATK/2600 DEF/2000

"M-Mozarta!?" Yuya got out stunned, as were all of them, "Did... Mozarta transform!?" Azara asked stunned, "How..." Matthew got out, no one could answer such a question, just as confused.

Mozarta herself was confused with her new form, admiring herself, liking the new form, meanwhile Odd-Eye's spirit manifested, having sensed something new, "What's going- Mozarta!?" he cried out from his mini form, stunned by her transformation... she looked amazing. "Pretty..." he cawed out.

Yuzu, despite their reactions and her own confusion, continued the Duel, "Rhythm's effect activates!" Yuzu continued, Rhythm waved over to her summoned monsters, sending a small ball of gather energy in her hands.

"When Melodious Monsters are Special Summoned: I can target one of them, and it gains 400 ATK for every Overlay Unit attached to her until the end of the turn!" she told them. "I pick Mozarta!" she declared, Rhythm tossed two balls of light to her ace, casting a glow over the monster. Mozarta's ATK: 2600 + 400 x2 = 800 = 3400

"And now for Mozarta's effect!" Mozarta then threw her arms out, realising a dust into the air, "When Pendulum Summoned, I can target 1 LIGHT monster I control, they gain 100 ATK for every Level that I can Pendulum Summon until the end of the turn!" she explained, the crowd were stunned, her ace even had new effects to go with her new form.

"I pick Sophina! Who gains 600 ATK!" she said as the mentioned monster glowed, Sophina's ATK: 2300 + 600 = 2900 "And then for her other effect!" Yuzu kept going, "For every other Melodious Monster I control, I can target cards you control, their effects are negated!" she told them. "Yuya, I pick your Jungle Claw! And Sora, your Frightfur Tiger Sora and Frightfur Jar!" she told them.

As Mozarta waved her baton, all her other Melodious monsters began to sing, harmonising, causing sound waves to appear, hitting the targeted cards, and disabling them. "With Jungle's Claw Pendulum Effect negated, Timestar loses its gained ATK!" she told her boyfriend. 2800 = 2400 (Timestar) "As does Tiger's ATK from its effect!" she added, 2200 = 1900 (Tiger)

"And for Rhythm's other effect! By using an Overlay Unit..." the Xyz Melodious used one of her Overlay Units, Rhythm's OLUs: 2 - 1 = 1 "I can target 1 LIGHT monster I control, being herself, now Rhythm is unaffected by your card effects!" she explained.

"Battle!" she declared, "Schuberta attack Tiger!" she called out, her Fusion monster rushed at the powerless Tiger, "I activate the Trap! Frightfur Karma!" Sora declared, his card flipped up, showing a Frightfur monster, acting cowardly as it was attacked, only for it to drop the act and strike back at its attacker.

"When a Frightfur monster is attacked, I can banish both an Edge Imp and Fluffal monster in my Graveyard..." he banished both Sabres and Penguin. "Doing this let's me target the attacking monster, and destroy it!" he told her, though she smiled.

"Harp's Pendulum effect activates!" Harp strummed her instrument, playing a cord "Once per turn, when you activate a Spell or Trap that would destroy a LIGHT monster I control, I can negate that card!" she told the boy, who gasped. "Then if that card is negated, it goes to the Graveyard!" she added, Frightfur Karma was then sent to the Graveyard.

"The battle continues!" she said, Schuberta then sliced at Frightfur Tiger, destroying the possessed toy, 3100 - 500 = 2600 (Sora) "At this moment, Clara's Pendulum Effect activates!" she declared, "When a Melodious Monster destroys a monster by battle, you take 500 points of damage!" she told the boy. Clara played her clarinet, shooting musical notes at the boy. 2600 - 500 = 2100 (Sora)

"And now for Rhythm to attack you directly!" she told him, Rhythm quickly sang, shooting a sound wave at the boy, quickly hitting him before he could recover. 2100 - 2100 = 0 "Aw man!" he groaned out, though he was happy, proud of his shared student for her growth.

Sora: LOSE

"Sora's out!" Ronald cheered, having snapped out of his shock, served the brat right. Nigel noted his reaction for later, he never understood the boy's hatred for Sora.

"Your turn Yuya!" Yuzu said, who simply stood there, after all he had no cards to play. "Mozarta attack Timestar Magician!" she told her newly evolved Ace, who sang herself, releasing her own sound wave, hitting the Magician, destroying him. 3800 - 1000 = 2800 (Yuya) Yuya was knocked to his feet.

"At this moment, Mozarta's final effect activates!" Mozarta waved her baton, send a ball of light over to Yuzu's Deck, "When she destroys a monster by battle, I can draw a card!" she did just that, "If that card is a Melodious monster, she can attack again." she made no such move, "And then Sophina, attack him directly!" she called out.

Her final monster made her move. She played her piano, with each key played, a small ball of light to gather in front of her magic piano, growing wit each key played, after all the keys had been hit, the ball soared at Yuya, who was slowly getting up. It landed before him, causing a small explosion., which washed over the boy. 2800 - 2900 = 0 (Yuya)

Yuya: LOSE

Yuzu: WINS

"I won..." she spoke out stunned, not believing it at first, the field slowly dematerialised, confirming her victory. "I won..." she repeated, this time smiling, "I WON!" this time she jumped into the air, celebrating her victory, the crowd cheering along with her.

"She did it!" Azara cheered, quickly hugging the person next to her. Though she stopped in her tracks, suddenly aware of who was next to her. She looked up at the being to see Nigel staring at her in shock. She quickly blushed, letting the boy go. "Sorry..." she squeaked out shyly. Nigel was still stunned by the hug. His brother laughed to themselves at the scene.

"Man that was amazing!" Yuya from the ground said, rolling back and then jumping to his feet. "Well done Yuzu!" he told her as he walked over to her, "Yuya..." she said to him, "Looks like your training really has paid off..." he said, "I'm proud of you..." she blushed at compliment.

"Not bad Yuzu..." Sora told her, armed folded behind his head, "I think it safe to say, that that Masumi girl won't know what will hit her!" he said smiling, "Thanks Sora..." she fondly said to her friend, before turning back to Yuya, "So..." she began cheekily, "Do I get a reward for winning?" she asked him, batting her eyelashes at him.

Yuya laughed, "Sure!" he then instantly leaned in to her, pressing his lips against hers briefly, making her blush lightly, "Better?" he asked confidently. "Better..." she answered, Yuya smiled, but then turned confused.

"By the way... how on earth did Mozarta transform?" he asked confused, sure Odd-Eyes himself had evolved into a Pendulum Monster when he first Pendulum Summoned, but he wasn't expecting Yuzu's ace to follow suit. Yuzu herself grew confused, but she glanced at her bracelet, suspecting it to be the cause-

"Ahem!" a voice called out to them, they turned to see Matthew standing before him, his brothers behind, "As much as we would all like to figure out Mozarta's suddenly transformation... We've got some practicing to do!" he explained, "So could we please get along, we've got some Duels in a few hours, we need to be prepared." he said with a grin.

"Oh, of course!" Yuzu said quickly, dropping the subject for another time. The three then proceeded to make their way off the arena, "Looks like the fun really has begun!" Yuya muttered, Yuzu giggled, "It sure has..." she brought out Mozarta's card, admiring her Ace's new form.

The next few hours were spent with them all training, Pendulum Summon to their hearts content, laughing at all the fun they were having...

LDS (12:00 PM)

Shun and Kelly were sat down at one of the benches in the large canteen, the other students of the Duel School chatting amongst themselves, they didn't seem to mind the two, who looked so out of place, the two were deathly quiet, giving all that they had learned, as well as telling their two comrades...

Yesterday

"You two are entering the Maiami City ARC Championship?!" Ronald repeated just what had been explained to them, "I just said that you moron!" Kelly frowned at his comment, he glared at her for that remark, which she returned. "Why does Akaba want you to enter?" Yuto asked confused.

"He never specifically explained why he wants us in the tournament... " Shun answered, still trying to comprehend all that had been explained to the two back at LDS, "But he did tell us that the goal of this year's tournament is too determine if more Duelist are ready to join the Lancers" he added.

Yuto and Ronald were confused at the name, "Lancers?" Yuto asked, "It's a specially selected group of strong Duelists..." Kelly began, "To help Reiji take on his father!" the two gasped, "He's betraying his father!?" Yuto asked stunned. "Betrayal implies he was always aligned with the Professor..." Shun frowned.

"Turns out the professor and his son don't see eye to eye, so the latter is going to fight back, he's being preparing for the last four years apparently..." he explained to their two comrades. "So the Professor has no hold over this dimension?" Yuto frowned at the thought, Shun knew what he was thinking, all their efforts had been in vain.

"How many are in the Lancers?" Ronald asked, "At the moment, Reiji himself, me and Shun..." Kelly reluctantly added them into the group,, "I believe he was hoping for another, but he never said their name, but they must be powerful if Reiji is seeking him out." she added.

"Just four?" Ronald frowned, "Not much of a group..." he muttered, "If you were paying attention dolt!" she spat out, "You would remember that this year's tournament will help determine if others are ready to join us." once again the two glared.

"Ronald mentioned this tournament to me while you were gone..." Yuto said looking at the mentioned boy, "He himself had recently qualified to enter through a certain rule." he added, "Yeah... part of my cover..." Ronald told them.

"What's divisions are you in?" Ronald suddenly asked, "Youth Junior..." Kelly explained, leaving the boys confused, "Really?" Ronald said confused, not expecting that, "I mean sure, you're still within the age gap most can be to still be in that division... It's the division I'm in..." he then turned to Shun, confused.

"But the question is, why are you in there Shun? I was expecting Senior, like the Denisu brothers at the Duel School I'm going to..." he said. "You're the same age, and from what I've seen, they're just as skilled as you!" he said, Shun was intrigued by that.

"Again... Akaba didn't explain why..." he said, and that was the end of the that questioning. "So that's three of us entering the tournament..." Kelly said, they turned to the only one not participating, Yuto.

"Shame you can't enter Yuto, you would likely go far in the division." Kelly said, complimenting the boy with a small smile, who smiled back, the other two noted this, "It's likely for the best that I don't enter..." Yuto told them, "What with that incident I caused..." he added, turning away, a clear frown to his face. "You never actually explained how you caused that incident for Ronald's Duel School." she said. Yuto looked away, not sure how to tell her-

"We don't have much time left..." Shun cut them off, halting the topic, "We've got to get going, Akaba is expecting us back..." he then turned to the door, "Be safe you two!" he called back to the two, Kelly waved bye to Yuto, and followed Shun's lead,

"Hold on..." Yuto suddenly called out, "What does this mean for your plan? The one to take Akaba hostage, and use in exchange for Ruri's return?" he asked. Shun stopped, frowning, lowering head, gritting his teeth in frustration at the mention of that plan.

A moment later, he continued walking, making it out the doorway, but not before saying his final words to the remaining two. "It's over..." he said...

"The plan was a bust..." were the last words that echoed within Shun's mind, saddening him. "Ruri..." he muttered, all that work for nothing, Reiji had told him he had met his father in Fusion himself years ago, having believed him to have died in a accident, he was turned away by his father coldly, he could see it in Reiji's eyes, he had told them the truth. Their plan was doomed to fail from the start either way...

His hope at seeing his little sister again was shrinking by the day, he could still recall their last discussion, which wasn't- "Shun?" a voice called out to him, snapping him out of his thoughts. He gazed up to find the three people standing before him, the three students he had duelled a while ago, Masumi Kotsu, Yaiba Todo and Hokuto Shijima, were the names Akaba had told him.

"You okay?" Masumi, the one who called out to him asked, "Oh..." he began, keeping his expression neutral, "Yeah, I'm just having a bad morning..." he told them. He still couldn't believe what had happened to them after their Duel.

It was why he still didn't trust Akaba, having the ability to wipe someone's memories. Even plant new ones in their place, sounded like something the Senior Akaba would do. It was why the three weren't hostile, having been made to think that he and Kelly had been apart of LDS for a while now.

"Well, I hope you get better dude!" Yaiba said, "Yeah, after all, If you stay in a funk for too long, I'm likely to take your place as the best Xyz Summoner at LDS!" Hokuto taunted, Kelly huffed at this, making the boy flinch, "O-Oh! Except after you of course Lady Kelly!" he quickly bowed to the girl, a small blush to his face.

Kelly rolled her eyes at his attempt to gain her affection with such a title, how he became fond of her, she had no clue. She had no interest in something like that... with him at least, there was a boy that had caught her interest though.

"What's been bothering you Shun?" Masumi asked concerned, "Usually nothing gets to you..." she said, "Nothing to concern yourself with Masumi..." Kelly butted in, "Just leave him be..." she added. Before Masumi could say another thing-

"Whoa!" a random student shouted out, gaining all of their attention. They all turned to see a tall individual enter the canteen, a boy of 17, wearing a black t-shirt with white lightning bolt across the middle of it, silver trousers with a black belt, white trainers, and several bronze rings on his right hand. His hair was purple, medium length. But the most alarming feature about him? The scar that ran over his left eye, which was dull and lifeless, rendered useless by what caused the scar.

"Who the hell is that?" "What the hell happened to him?" "I think I'm going to be sick..." were a few of the response the guy got as he approached the table Shun and Kelly were sat at. Masumi and her friend became alert as he approached them. "Morning..." he said to them, looking past the three, observing Shun and Kelly. But the three stood before him, defensive of his presence.

"Who are you?! And how did you get in here?" Masumi questioned the new guy, unnerved by his face, the guy didn't mind her reaction, instead taking delight in her fear. "Name's Apollo Cronus, at your service!" he said to them nonclantly, "And as for why I'm here, as you rudely asked" he stared at the girl, making her nervous.

"I'm an old friend of Reiji's, from last year..." he explained to them, "He called last night, wanting to catch up..." Apollo then paused, recalling something from earlier. "You're Reiji's friend? Yeah right!" Yaiba laughed, not believing him. Apollo turned his gaze to the boy, glaring at him.

"You calling me a liar?" he sneered at Yaiba, who began to sweat under his singular gaze. "N-No!" he panickly said, "Good... Now scram!" he barked out, "Later!" Yaiba quickly took off running, getting away from the guy. "See ya Shun!" Masumi said to the boy, she and Hokuto quickly lefted.

Shun and Kelly were then confused when they saw Apollo sit down next to them, fixing his single gaze at them, "Can we help you?" Kelly spat out, not liking the vibe the guy was giving them, a knowing look. "Not much..." Apollo said, "Just gauging something." he then continued gazing at them.

This gazing continued awhile longer, "Will you cut that out?!" Shun said with a glare, clearly annoyed with the guy, who the hell was this- "Ah!" Apollo said smiling, "That's the fire I like the see..." he said confusing them, "Reminds me of Janus." he added.

The two flinched, stunned, "How do you-" Kelly paused, instantly recalling what he said before, a certain person they recently came to know, a realization coming to both of them, "You're the other Lancer!" Shun concluded, Apollo smirked. "Quick witted, just like Janus!" he said.

"Yes, I'm a Lancer, just like you two and Reiji..." he explained, "Having just been recruited last night after my Duel with Janus..." he smiled, clearly recalling that Duel, one of his greatest ones so far.

"So you know then..." Kelly asked hushed, looking around the other tables. The other students had gone back to their tables, ignoring them. "Yep! Reiji told me all about it this morning..." he told them, "All of it..." he knowing said, making the two frown.

"So you're here to pity us!" Kelly said venomously, if he so much as- "Pity?" Apollo asked, "Who said anything about pity?" he said, confusing the two.

"Pity is for the weak, Janus isn't weak, and just by having the same aura as him, I can tell you two ain't weak either.." he said to them, "To have survived all that happened to you, has made you stronger..." he told them.

"But from what I can tell, you two seem to be pitying yourselves!" the two narrowed their eyes at him for that remark, "What was that?" Shun said slowly, annoyed, "The fact that you thought I was going to pity you two, means you two are still caught up in your past, at what happened to you." he told them.

"Nothing good ever comes from living in your past, the good or the bad, you've just need to accept what happened, happened..." he then touched his scar, "Yes what happened to you was way worse than what happened to me." he pointed to his own scarred face, "But you ain't going to get anything done by simply taking your aggression out on someone weaker than you! Just because of what you've lost." That last part ticked Shun off, his anger rising, especially at what he had lost.

Shun suddenly sprang to his feet, catching the attention of a few students, he then bore down on Apollo, who didn't even flinch at the attempt to intimidate him. "You don't know a damn thing about us!" he spat out at the one eyed guy, he then quickly turned and stomped away. Heading for the exit.

"Shun!" Kelly stood up, "Where are you going?" she asked him, "To blow off some steam..." was all Shun said walking out of the room, Apollo mockingly frowned, "Aww Shun, can't take some friendly advice!" Apollo laughed out, Kelly suddenly stood up, pushing the bench back, she looked annoyed, "Piss off!" she snapped at him, she too left the the table, heading for her temporary room.

Apollo sighed and shrugged his shoulders, "That couldn't have gone better." he said to himself, he then got back up " Whelp! Better get on with that errand Reiji wants done..." he too made his way out, he had a few calls to make, regarding a certain someone...

He chuckled to himself, still recalling all that Reiji had explained just a while ago, "A whole other dimension?... That's just wild..." he thought to himself. Still not believing it to be true... But if there was one thing he knew about Reiji when he worked for him, is that he wasn't a liar.

As he walked away, a student walked passed him, it was Sawatari, who seemed ecstatic, in his hands was his brand new Deck, having acquired it through his father's connections. "I can't wait to see the look on Yuya Sakaki's dumb face!" he said to himself, going through the Deck. He couldn't wait to put the boy in his place, beneath his foot...

Dragon's Dojo Duel School's Entrance (1:57 PM)

"And we're here!" Matthew said, having lead their group to where he would be having his final Qualifying Duel to enter the Senior Division, "You guys didn't have to come." he told them, looking back at their group, the three younger kids, Yuya and Yuzu, who were holding hands, Oliver, Sora, Ronald (those two were far apart from each other)

As per their request, and the timing of their Duels in line with his, Nigel and Azara had requested to be alone for their duels. "Well, seeing that you guys have supported me, it's only fair I return the favour and cheer you guys on!" Yuya said, Yuzu nodding with him, "Besides, we've all had enough training for today with our cards, we thought it would be nice to get out." she added. She still couldn't get over Mozarta's evolution. But she would focus on that for another day.

"Shame that big sis Azara and big bro Nigel can't be with us..." Ayu pouted, "Even if the duels weren't scheduled around the same time, they clearly want to be alone." Tatsuya told the girl, who reluctantly nodded, excepting this.

"Speaking of those two..." Yuya began, he looked to Oliver, who had managed to remove the marker writing from his forehead "Did they really unintentionally go on a da-" "Ah Matthew my boy!" a voice called out to them, pausing the conversation, they looked to see Nico Smiley walking over to them.

"Good afternoon Nico!" Matthew greeted their elder, the group bowed to him, "Good Afternoon to you too!" he said back, he then noticed Yuya.

"Ah Yuya my boy! I see you're supporting your friend it seems." he said to younger boy, he noted his hand holding with Yuzu, smiling at the sight, "Yeah, what with qualifying, there's not much to do besides prep for the big show!" he said, "Well said, it's important to relax once and while." Nico said, "But too much and you stifle your Dueltaining, I hope you've got something in store for the Championship?" he asked slyly.

Yuya smiled, and then looked around at the group, "Oh I've got something planned, in fact, you may be surprised by not just me!" he teased, Yuzu giggled, knowing what he was on about, the others smiled, leaving Nico confused.

"Hmmm, it appears something has happened..." he began, but than clapped his hands together, "But why ask and spoil the surprise!" he said, let them keep their surprise, they would reveal all in good time. "Now Matthew!" he turned back to the oldest, "If you would kindly follow me, your final qualifying Duel awaits!" he told him, Matthew smirked, ready.

"Alright!" he told the man, the two then made their way into the building, "See ya in a bit!" he called back to the group, who waved, "Right, let's go find some good seats!" Yuya said to the the group, who nodded, following after the two.

The group found some good seats, at the front within the viewing area, the students of the Duel School sat around them, they wore a black Gi with a kanji of dragon in red on their backs and the side of the front, random civilians were also seated, having heard a qualifying duel was taking place.

Matthew and his opponent stood within the arena, "Ladies and Gentlemen!" Nico began, Nico stood to the side, "Thank you for joining us in this soon to be spectacular Duel!" he said. "This duel to take place is a qualifying match for both Duelists, wishing to gain entry into this year's championship, the Senior Division!" he explained.

"So let's cut to the chase! Introducing the challenger, having placed second in last year's ARC Championships, of the Senior Division, Matthew Denisu!" he waved over to Matthew, who gained applause, he nodded, waving to the crowd, he then raised his Duel Disk up, ready to Duel.

"And representing this fine establishment, the School's top student, Kana Takahashi" he waved over to the other duelist, a girl of 17 with long blue hair stood, wearing the school's uniform, though she had long sleeves on her set.. "I never expected our first Duel to be set like this Denisu!" Kana told her opponent, "Me neither..." he said back, grinning at her, she smiled back.

That interaction intrigued Yuzu, "Does Matthew know her?" Yuzu asked Oliver, who nodded. "Yeah, she goes to our school... actual school." Oliver explained.

"She's apart of the disciplinary group, they keep the peace at school, duelling anyone who breaks the rules, she's as strong as she is strict..." he recalled that during their breaks, Kana would duel other students to make sure they kept the rules intact." he added, "Though she herself has hoped Matthew would break the rules once, just so she could duel him." he finished.

"Why not just ask to duel him?" Ayu asked confused, if she wanted to Duel the boy, she could just have asked him, "Rumor has it... she's too shy to ask him to Duel..." Oliver explained, "Too shy, why would that- Oh..." Yuya suddenly realised. "Yep." Oliver said to that, they turned their attention back to the arena.

"It's an honor to finally Duel you Denisu." Kana said, keeping her face straight, she couldn't back down now, she bowed to him, who bowed back "We aren't at school, you don't need to be so intense." he told her, she nodded, "Noted, but that's who I simply am." she explained.

"Before we begin, would the principal of this fine School like to say a few words?" Nico asked the man next to him, who had been silent as Nico spoke, he then opened his eyes. A strict expression to his face.

"Here at this Dojo, we teach our Duelist like we teach them the art of discipline!" he spoke, a strict tone. "A Duelist must be one with their Deck in order to achieve their goals!" he added "These two Duelist stand before you to show us what their Deck say for them!"

"So without further ado! I activate the Action Field, Dragon's Den!" the ARC System activated, materialising the field, which slowly revealed to be an ancient martial arts temple, the pillars keeping the the temple up had long serpent dragons encircling the pillars, from top to bottom. Many statues of dragons also lined the sides, Matthew and Kana stood within a wide clear area at the centre.

The two then armed their Duel Disks, "Duelist locked in battle, kicking against the earth and in the air alongside their monsters!" the crowd chanted, "The strict shall overcome any obstacle set before them!" Kana yelled out, "And show all that watch what they're made off!" Matthew added in.

"Now behold! This is the latest and greatest evolution to Dueling!" the crowd chanted, "ACTION..." The bubble of Action Cards popped, dispersing the card across the Field.

"DUEL!" The two shouted, drawing five cards each.

Kana's LP: 4000 (Fire Fist)

Turn 1

"Right! I'm going first!" Matthew declared, "I activate the Continious Spell, Ore Mech Excavator!" he said, appearing on his Field from the earth was a mining machine with a conveyor belt attached to it. "Now once per turn, I can return a card in my Hand to my Deck..." he returned Gold Nugget to his Deck, which shuffled itself. "Doing this let's me draw 1 card!" he drew his card.

"If that card was an Ore Mech, I can Special Summon it!" he explained, he made no such move, "I Normal Summon Ore Mech - Uranium Core!" Appearing on his Field was a spherical orb, connected to a tri-pod, which had three small plated armour legs with groves in them, when brought together they formed a drill. The orb itself was forged from lead, evenly placed around the orb were indents, with a silver spikes placed in them. At the front, where a spike would have been was a hatch, sealed tightly, on the hatch was the atomic symbol of U, along with a small 92, as housed within the orb was uranium. Powering the mech.

Ore Mech - Uranium Core: EARTH, Level: 3 [Rock/Pendulum/Effect] ATK/500 DEF/800, PS: 9

Kana raised her eyebrows at the sight of the monster, having never seen it before in his Deck, thinking he must have gotten it recently, she didn't bother looking over its info from her Duel Disk, as its ATK and DEF points showed up when it was Summoned. Though Yuya and the group smiled at the sight of the monster.

"I activate the Spell, Mech's Ore Deposit!" he activated another Spell, the image of this one showed multiple Mech monsters bust at work, mining precious ores from a mining site, to be converted into their fellow comrades. "I can select 1 Level 4 or lower Ore Mech in my Deck, and either add it to my Hand or Special Summon it!" he explained, selecting his choice on his Duel Disk, ejecting a card from his Deck.

"I choose to Summon Ore Mech - Gold Nugget!" he took the card, placing it on his blade, causing the stumpy Mech made of gold to appear.

Ore Mech - Gold Nugget: EARTH, Level: 3 [Rock/Effect] ATK/1200 DEF/1000

"Gold Nugget's effect!" the Gold mech suddenly began to glow brightly, "When Summoned, I can shuffle 1 card into my Deck..." he repeated the process with Excavator. "Doing this let's me Special Summon Ore Mech monsters from my Deck whose Levels equal Gold Nugget's current Level!" he selected his choice, causing three cards to eject from his Deck.

"I Summon three Coal Bits!" he placed their cards onto his blade, causing the miniature monster of coal to appear, flapping their tiny flaps to stay airborne.

Ore Mech - Coal Bit: EARTH, Level: 1 [Rock/Effect] ATK/100 DEF/100 x3

"Five monsters already?!" Nico said amazed, he hadn't actually seen how Matthew duelled, having been busy with Yuya's entry, but from what he could tell, he definitely earned his placement from last year, and he was just warming up.

"I activate the effect of my first Coal Bit!" the mentioned one gained a black aura, followed by the other four gaining one also, "For every two Mech monster I control, I draw a card!" he drew 2 cards, looking them over.

"Then I activate its other effect, as well as Gold Nugget's effect, targeting the other with it!" The first Coal Bit and Gold Nugget both glowed orange at the same time, "They each gain the original Level of their targets!" he said.

Coal Bit no.1's Level: 1 + 3 = 4

Gold Nugget's Leve: 3 + 1 = 4

"And now with my two Level 4 Gold Nugget and Coal Bit, I build the Overlay Network!" the two turned into orange energy, soaring high into the air and falling into the galaxy that appeared beneath their master's feet, causing a beam of light to erupt.

"Mechanical knight of hardened steel..." he began as the mechanical being took form, "Turn your enemies defences against them..." the being grabbed its trusted weapon, "And tear them to pieces!" its visor glowed, "Xyz Summon!" he shouted, grabbing the card ejected from his Extra Deck, and placing it over its material. "Come forth, Rank 4! Metal Mech - Steel Slasher!

Appearing from a flash of light was his trusted Ace monster, steam erupting from all its joints, wielding its mighty weapon with ease, swiping at the air. Two orange Overlay Units orbited the monster.

Metal Mech - Steel Slasher: EARTH, Rank: 4 [Machine/Xyz/Effect] ATK/2400 DEF/2000, OLUs: 2

"What an Xyz Summon folks!" Nico shouted, getting cheers from the crowd, "And he can still do more..." Yuya muttered to himself, "And now for Uranium Core's effect! I target 1 Ore Mech, such as one of my remaining Coal Bits..." he picked the second one, causing Uranium Core to glow. "Until the end of the turn, Uranium Core's Level becomes the same as Coal Bit's current Level!" he explained.

Uranium Core's Leve: 3 = 1

Kana thought the effect was odd, essentially doing what his other known Ore Mechs did, but differently, ensuring he had two or more monsters to Xyz Summon, a common strategy of his, from when he duelled during break. She noted what monsters he had, "3 Level 1 monsters..." she muttered.

"And now using the two Level 1 Coal Bits and now Level 1 Uranium Core, I once again build the Overlay Network!" once again, the mentioned monsters turned into energy, being absorbed into the network at his feet. "Blacksmith forged of iron, support your fellow machines and arm them!" he chanted

"Xyz Summon!" he took another card from his Extra Deck, placing it onto his blade over the material. "Appear, Rank 1! Alloy Mech - Iron Blacksmith!" he called out.

Appear on his field was a new Mech monster, its lower body was composed of a smelting forge, appearing like a molten fountain, red hot molten metal travelled down the five slopes at the bottom of the fountain, to be funnelled back up. between each slope were individual buckets or precious ores, even some already processed ingots to be used again. The upper body was a cylindrical engine, with a flat disc head, a neon green ring was spaced between the dark patch, a single rotating lens for its eye. attach to its spherical shoulders were three sets of arms, each singular one had its own device, designed to help craft the ingots it would make. Orbiting the monster were three orange Overlay Units.

Alloy Mech - Iron Blacksmith: EARTH, Rank: 1 [Machine/Xyz/Effect] ATK/300 DEF/500, OLUs: 3

"Iron Blacksmith gains 300 ATK for every Overlay Unit it has! Which is three so he gains 900 ATK!" Matthew explained, the summoned monster's red-hot furnace glowed brighter briefly, Iron Blacksmith's ATK: 300 + 900 = 1200

"I now place two cards face-down, and end my turn!" he then took two cards, slotted them into his Duel Disk, causing them to appear larger face-down, before fading away.

Turn 2

"What a strong formation Young Denisu has created, Summoning two Xyz Monsters on the first turn!" Nico announced. The crowd clapped, Matthew noted but did not react, his focus solely on his opponent, who fought to keep her expression in check.

"My turn! Draw!" Kana drew her card, looking over her hand. "First I activate the Continous Spell, Fire Formation - Tenki!" the card appeared on her field, "Upon activation, this card let's me add a Level 4 or lower Beast-Warrior from my Deck to my Hand!" she added her choice. "Also while this card is active, all Beast-Warriors I control gain 100 ATK!" she added.

"Next I activate the Continous Spell, Fire Formation - Yoko!" she declared, the card appeared on her Field, "All Beast-Warriors I control gain 100 ATK!" she explained, "But that's not all! When this card is activated, I can target 1 face-up card you control, discard a Beast-Warrior in my Hand..." she sent her choice.

"The target is then destroyed!" she made a stance, the card on her field began channelling light blue flames, "I target Steel Slasher! Now melt!" she declared, as the fire shot out at their target.

"Iron Blacksmith's effect!" Matthew yelled out, "Should a Mech monster be destroyed by battle or card effects, I can detach 1 Overlay Unit from Blacksmith instead!" he explained, Steel Slasher flinched as the searing hot flames hit him, but Blacksmith consumed an Overlay Unit, halting its destruction. Blacksmith's OLUs: 3 - 1 = 2

"Due to this, Blacksmith loses 300 ATK..." he added, 1200 - 300 = 900 (Blacksmith) "But at this moment, Excavator's effect activates! When an Ore Mech monster as an Overlay Unit is detached and sent to the Graveyard, I can draw a card!" he then drew a card.

Kana continued as if that didn't bother her. "Now I activate the Continous Spell, Fire Formation - Ingen!" she activated another Continous Spell.

"When activated, this card allows me to Fusion Summon!" she declared, "So she's a Fusion Summoner." Ayu asked, "Not exactly..." Oliver muttered, confusing her.

"I fuse together Fire Fist - Ram and Buffalo from my Hand!" the appeared on the Field, their spirit fires taking the forms of a Ram and Bull respectively, the two glowed, being sucked into the Fusion Vortex, releasing a bright light.

"Fusion Summon! Descend, Level 8! Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Swan!" A powerful warrior wearing a white cloak appeared, trimmed with gold and red lighting, they were carrying a spear, its fire was pure white, taking on the form of a swan. It spun its weapon before taking its stance.

Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Swan: FIRE, Level: 8 [Beast-Warrior/Fusion/Effect] ATK/2600 + 200 = 2800 DEF/2200

"Swan's effect! When Special Summoned, you take 200 damage for every face-up Fire Formation card I control!" Kana declared, at the mention, Swan thrusted out their spear rapidly, launching three white fireballs, they sailed over to the Xyz Duelist, who brought his arms up to brace himself. Matthew's LP: 4000 - 600 = 3400

"And the first strike goes to Kana!" Nico called out. "I Normal Summon the Tuner monster, Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Spirit!" appearing on her Field was a blue flame, a spirit, garbed in white ancient armour, the spirit was feminine.

Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Spirit: FIRE, Level: 3 [Beast-Warrior/Tuner/Effect] ATK/500 + 200 = 700 DEF/200

"A Tuner? So she can also Synchro Summon..." Yuya noted, as did Yuzu, who was paying close attention, as she still has yet to do a Synchro Summon, "Fire Fist are one of the few archetypes that can use multiple Summoning Methods... Oliver explained.

"Spirit's effect! When Normal Summoned, I can Special Summon from my Graveyard a Level 3 FIRE monster with 200 or less DEF!" Kana explained as her choice ejected from her Graveyard. "I Summon, Ram!" Appearing from a dark portal was a ancient garbed warrior, it controlled a blazing spirit of fire, taking the form a ram.

Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Ram: FIRE, Level: 3 [Beast-Warrior/Effect] ATK/800 + 200 = 1000 DEF/200

"Ram's effect! When Special Summoned, I can set 1 Fire Formation directly from my Deck!" she set her choice, its card appearing on her field before fading. "I now Tune Level 3 Spirit to Level 3 Ram!" she yelled out, Ram jumped into the air, Spirit transformed into three lights, soaring above Ram, then changing into three tuning rings, with Ram soaring through them, losing its colour, with 3 white stars.

The rings and stars aligned perfect, causing a beam to shot through them and distort, "Synchro Summon! Appear, Level 6! Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Horse Prince!" a new warrior appeared, its fire spirit was a dark blue horse, the warrior itself was riding the horse.

Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Horse Prince: FIRE, Level: 6 [Beast-Warrior/Synchro/Effect] ATK/2200 + 200 = 2400 DEF/2200

"Incredible! She can use more than one Summoning Method!" Nico exclaimed, the crowd were amazed, its not every day they see this level of skill from Duelists so young. From his seat, Yuya stared at the two monsters Kana controlled, "Other decks can use more than one Summoning Method..." he thought, then recalling his Duel against Reiji and his D/D/D monsters.

"Horse Prince's effect! When Synchro Summoned, I can Special Summon a Level 3 FIRE monster from my Deck!" she picked her choice, "I Summon Fire Fist - Hawk!" a new warrior armed with a bow appeared, its fire spirit was a hawk, coloured yellow.

Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Hawk: FIRE, Level: 3 [Beast-Warrior/Effect] ATK/200 + 200 = 400 DEF/1500

"Now for Hawk's effect! While I control a Fire Formation Spell or Trap, all Fire Fist monsters I control gain 500 ATK and DEF!" she explained as the fire spirits of her monsters burned brighter. 400/1500 = 900/2000 (Hawk) 2800/2200 = 3300/2700 (Swan) 2400/2200 = 2900/2700 (Horse Prince)

"Battle!" Kana then called out, Matthew instantly leaped to his Ace, who had set its weapon out flat like a spring board, the second his master landed, the monster tossed him over his shoulder, the momentum sending the boy flying.

"Swan attack Steel Slasher!" her monster charged at the mechanical warrior, "Swan's effect! I send 1 face-up Fire Formation Spell or Trap to the Graveyard..." she sent Ingen to the Graveyard, the card bursting into particles. "This then let's me target one card you control and destroy it!" she told her opponent who then landed into a skid before going into a run. Kana took off running at this moment.

"I destroy your Excavator!" she told him, another fireball was launched from Swan's spear, hitting its mark and destroying the machine, "Then at this moment, Ingen's effect activates! When sent from a Spell or Trap Zone to the Graveyard, I can add a Fire Fist monster in my Graveyard to my Hand!" she added her choice.

"The battle is still going on!" she reminded as Matthew, who took action as he ran, "Steel Slasher's effect!" he said, "When he battles a monster with higher ATK, the ATK of both monsters is swapped!" he told her.

Swan: 3300 = 2400, Steel Slasher: 2400 = 3300

The two monsters clashed, their weapons causing sparks, meanwhile both of their controllers zeroed in on a Action Card, Kana, having been closer to one, as it resting on the floor, swiped it as she ran pass, "The Action Spell, High Dive!" She called out activating it, "This card increases my monster's ATK by 1000!" 2400 + 1000 = 3400 (Swan)

Matthew at the same time also reached his own Action Card, "I activate my own copy of High Dive!" Matthew called out activating his own copy of the card, stunning most. "Now Steel Slasher gains 1000 ATK!" he said, 3300 + 1000 = 4300 (Steel Slasher)

"Whoa! The same Action Card used twice!" Nico called out, meanwhile the two monsters ended their struggle, when Steel Slasher suddenly kneed Swan during their weapon struggle, making the organic one back off, the mechanical one immediately took action, slashing the stunned warrior across his chest, causing the monster the cry out in pain as they burst into particles. Kana's LP: 4000 - 900 = 3100

"How dishonourable..." Kana called out, glaring at his ace, "Sorry, but not everyone fights the same way as you..." Matthew told her, "Horse Prince, attack Blacksmith!" Her warrior's fiery steed neighed and began to gallop over the other monster, the rider bringing out his weapon. "I activate the Trap, Half Unbreak!" Matthew called out as on of his face-downs flipped up.

"Now not only is Blacksmith not destroyed, but the damage from that battle is halved!" he told as a bubble erupted over Blacksmith, just in time as the prince and his steed had approached, slashing at the mechanical smith, who was saved from destruction. 3400 - 1000 = 2400 (Matthew)

Kana looked over her work, smiling at what she had accomplished, "I end my turn..." she told them, proud at dealing serious damage to him. "With the turn ending, your monster's ATK returns to normal." she added. 4300 = 2400 (Steel Slasher)

Turn 3

"Why didn't she use Swan's effect to destroy one of his face-downs?" Futoshi asked, confused by Kana's actions, "It's called thinking ahead..." Ronald began, "She couldn't target his Mech monsters to destroy them, as Blacksmith's protection effect isn't once per turn, meaning he can spam it. That mean her choices were narrowed down..." he began.

"Sure she could have destroyed one of those face-downs, possibly getting Half Unbreak, but whose to say that could have been the card at all..." he added, "Whereas a known face-up card is a better choice, if you now how impactful it is to the outcome of the Duel..." he said.

"Excavator is a strong card, not only does it allow Matthew to Summon material to use from a draw, if not, he gets a new card, it also allows the him to get an additional draw when detaching a Overlay unit..." Yuya said this time, understand the choice of action, "She knew taking the card out limited potential moves Matthew could make with the cards he's got." he added.

"Duel Monsters is a game of strategy, like chess, but with different rules, you've got to setup and predict how the next turns will play out, taking every card into consideration..." Ronald took over, "It's really important to do so..." he muttered the last part to himself with a frown.

With Matthew, he studied the field, "Safe to say, Hawk has gotta go!" he thought to himself. "My turn! Draw" he drew his card, smiling at it. "I Normal Summon Ore Mech - Tin Wheeler!" appearing was the small unicycle mech formed with tin.

Ore Mech - Tin Wheeler: EARTH, Level: 2 [Rock/Effect] ATK/600 DEF/800

"Tin Wheeler's effect! When Normal Summoned and you control a monster, I can Special Summon an Level 3 or lower Ore Mech from my Deck!" he took a card from his Deck, which shuffled, "I Summon Ore Mech - Nickel Crane!" He placed the summon on his blade, causing the new one to appear.

Ore Mech - Nickel Crane: EARTH, Level: 3 [Rock/Effect] ATK/700 DEF/1000

"When Nickel Crane is Summoned, I can add a Mech card from my Deck to my Hand!" he added his choice, smirking at what he picked. "Now for Blacksmith's effect!" The mechanical black smith began the forge an ingot, during the process, one of its units flew into the red hot metal just as the hammer hit it. 2 - 1 = 1 (Blacksmith)

"By using an Overlay Unit, I target Tin Wheeler, using it and that Overlay Unit, I can Xyz Summon!" he told them, shocking the crowd, "An Xyz Summon with a Overlay Unit!" Nico cheered out, getting more excited as the duel continued. Blacksmith held up a glowing ingot, before tossing it over to Tin Wheeler "Using the Level 2 Tin Wheeler and one Overlay Unit, I build the Overlay Network!" he called out.

Tin Wheeler and the orange glowing Unit turned into orange energy, soaring into the air as the network appeared at Matthew's feet, the two energies then dived into the network. "Basher of bronze, smash everything that comes your way!" he chanted, taking another card from his Extra Deck.

"Xyz Summon! Rank 2! Alloy Mech - Bronze Basher!" he shouted as he placed the card over its material, summoning forth the bronze machine, who slammed its two war hammers together.

Alloy Mech - Bronze Basher: EARTH, Rank: 2 [Machine/Xyz/Effect] ATK/1400 DEF/1700, OLUs: 2

"Due to losing another Unit, Blacksmith loses 300 more ATK!" he told her, 900 - 300 = 600 (Blacksmith)

"Bronze Basher gains 100 ATK for every other Mech I control!" he told her. Bronze Basher's ATK: 1400 + 300 = 1700 "And then Tin Wheeler's effect! As long as its attached to a Mech Xyz Monster as an Overlay Unit, that monster gains 600 ATK!" he added. 1700 + 600 = 2300 (Bronze Basher)

"I activate Steel Slasher's effect! I target your Horse Prince, use one of his Overlay Units..." one of his ace's Units was absorbed into his weapon, causing it to glow orange. Steel Slasher's OLUs: 2 - 1 = 1 "Horse Prince loses ATK equal to half the DEF of any monster on the Field! I select Hawk!" he said as his ace raised its sword over its head and brought it down, causing a wave of orange to be formed in a slash, it travelled over the Prince.

"I activate the Continous Trap, Fire Formation - Tenken!" Kana called out as her face-down flipped up, releasing a green mist, "I target a Beast-Warrior I control, being Horse Prince, until the end of the turn this effect is activated, its effects are negated, but in exchange, its unaffected by other card effects other than this card!" The mist began to shroud Horse Prince, just as the energy wave reached its target, the wave was blocked, dissipating.

Kana kept her calm, but was smiling on the inside, "Even though Horse Prince loses the ATK given by my other cards..." 2900 = 2200 (Horse Prince) "But while Tenken is face-up active, all Beast-Warriors I control gain 300 ATK!" she explained grinning, all her other monster gained power from the mist surrounding Horse Prince. 900 + 300 = 1200 (Hawk's ATK) 2200 + 300 = 2500 (Horse Prince)

However Matthew smirked, "So that's what it was... perfect!" he said smiling, confusing her, "Blacksmith's effect! When an Overlay is detached from another Mech Xyz Monster, that Overlay Unit is attached onto Blacksmith!" he told her.

A dark portal appeared, causing an orange light to stream out, it then soared over the Blacksmith, beginning to orbit the monster as an Overlay. 1 + 1 = 2 (Blacksmith) "It then gains 300 ATK again!" 600 + 300 = 900 (Blacksmith's ATK)

"Not that it matters, as I now activate the Spell, Rank Up Magic - Uniting Force!" he called out, the card appearing on his field, "Rank Up Magic?" Nico asked, not aware of such a card.

"This card lets me target two Xyz Monsters, I pick Blacksmith and Bronze Basher. The first target is then used to Xyz Summon an Xyz Monster whose Rank is higher than the target by the Rank of the second target!" Blacksmith began to glow, "Now using the Rank 1 Iron Blacksmith, I rebuild the Overlay Network for a Rank 3!" the glowing monster then turned into orange energy, its two orbiting units going faster.

The energy then launched itself into the air into the network, which took the form of a thunderstorm high in the air, upon disappearing into the storm, lightning began to crackle. "Mech of gold, rush to your brethren's aid and fend of the enemy!" he chanted as the energy within the storm took on a new form.

"Go! Rank Up Xyz Evolution!" he yelled out, taking the new card and placing it onto his blade, causing a bolt of lightning to strike the ground, "Rank 3! Metal Mech - Gold Rush!" appearing from the bolt of lightning was the sleek and aerodynamic mech made of gold, three Overlay Units orbited the monster.

Ronald continued to stare out at the newly summoned monster, while the rest of the crowd cheered, a confused expression to his face, "How does this dimension have Rank Up Magic?" he questioned himself, from what he had heard from the group, it was fairly recent. And still rare, not many Duelist here had the cards...

Yet back home, Rank Up Magic was a common occurrence, pretty much every Duelist in Heartland could do it, some just didn't choose to. So why was it common there and rare here?

"I activate Bronze Basher's effect! By using an Overlay Unit..." Bronze Basher slammed one of its Overlay Units between its hammers, Bronze Basher's OLUs: 2 - 1 = 1 "I target Steel Slasher, and he becomes unaffected by card effects until the end of the turn!" he said as Steel Slasher's armour gained a luster, shining a bit.

"And now for Uranium Core's effect from the Graveyard!" he threw his hand out, shocking Kana. "From the Graveyard!? But how-" Kana stopped, realising, "From Bronze Basher!" she said looking at the monster, "Correct!" he said as Uranium Core's card ejected from his Graveyard slot.

"When this card is detached as an Overlay Unit and sent to the Graveyard, I can add it to my Hand..." he took the ejected card, adding it to his hand. "But that's not all, I then target one monster you control, until the end of the turn, not only are its effect's negated, but it also loses 1000 ATK!" he explained shocking her! "What!?" she yelled shocked.

Uranium Core's form appeared before Matthew, steam erupting from its hatch, which opened up to reveal a laser lens, a green glow, a humming noise emanating from the monster, "I target Hawk!" Uranium Core turned to face the mentioned monster, the glow getting stronger, eventually firing a concentrated beam of green energy at the monster.

As soon as the beam hit it, the monster groaned in pain from the sudden radiation. Hawk then fell to their knee, tired and weakened. 1200 - 1000 = 200 (Hawk's ATK) "With its effects negated, it also loses its 500 DEF boost!" he added. 2000 = 1500 (Hawk's DEF)

"Battle!" He instantly called out, "Gold Rush's effect lets it attack you directly, but the battle damage from the attack is halved!" he called out, before Kana could run off for an Action Card, Gold Rush charged its thrusters, before suddenly taking off, aiming for duelist, he was instantly upon her, tapping her gently on her shoulder as to not hurt her, before rushing back to Matthew's side. 3100 - 1000 = 2100 (Kana)

"Now Steel Slasher! Attack Hawk!" his ace then charged forward, gliding across the ground, readying his sword, upon coming close he swung his sword, slamming into Hawk who cried out before bursting into particles.

"And now, I set a card, and end my turn..." Matthew said as he set his card, appearing on his field before fading. "And with it ending, your Horse Prince and Steel Slasher lose their immunity." both the mist around Horse Prince and Steel Slasher shine vanished. 2500 + 200 = 2700 (Horse Prince's ATK)

"My turn. Draw!" Kana drew her card, looking it over, "I activate Pot of Greed! Allowing me to draw 2 more cards!" she drew two more, liking them. "I activate the Spell, Monster Reborn!" she called out, revealing an all time favourite, "I Special Summon 1 monster from either Graveyard! I choose from mine, Swan!" Swan once again appeared on the Field, next to Horse Prince. 2600 + 500 = 3100 (Swan's ATK)

"Swan's effect! When Special Summoned, you take 200 damage for every face-up Fire Formation Spell and Trap!" she called out as Swan once again launched three white fireballs at Matthew, who stepped back from the area they landed, still taking the damage though. 3400 - 600 = 2800 (Matthew)

"I activate Buffalo's effect from the Graveyard, by sending two Fire Formation cards from my Hand or Field to the Graveyard, she took Yoko and Tenki's cards, sending them to her Graveyard, "I can Special Summon Buffalo from the Graveyard!" appearing from a dark portal to the Graveyard was the summoned warrior, dressed like its fellow comrades, its spirit fire was blue, shaped like a buffalo.

"Due to losing Yoko and Tenki, my Beast-Warriors lose 200 ATK..." 2700 - 200 = 2500 (Horse Prince's ATK) 3100 - 200 = 2900 (Swan's ATK)

"And now I Normal Summon Fire Fist - Elephant!" A new warrior appeared, their hair was wild and long, appearing behind it was its spirit animal, an elephant.

Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Elephant: FIRE, Level: 4 [Beast-Warrior/Effect] ATK/1000 + 300 = 1300 DEF/1800

"Elephant's effect! By targeting and shuffling a Fire Formation Spell or Trap in my Graveyard back into my Deck..." she returned Ingen to her Deck, which shuffled, "I can add a Level 5 or higher Fire Fist monster from my Deck to my Hand!" she added her choice.

"And now using the Level 4 Elephant and Buffalo, I build the Overlay Network!" both Fire Fist monsters turned into bright red energy, soaring into the air as the network appeared on the ground, the two were sucked into the galaxy, releasing a bright light.

"Xyz Summon! Rank 4! Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Tiger King! A new warrior, garbed in intricate armour like those before it, he was an older man than the others, also giving off a regal air to him, he wielded no weapon at all, like the other Fire Fist monsters, his flames, which were pure white, took the shape of a majestic tiger, two red Overlay Units orbited the monster.

"What a sight folks, she can use all three Summoning methods from the Extra Deck! Amazing!" Nico cheered out, sure he had set this duel up, but he had no clue about what she was capable off, when he came to this dojo for an opponent, saying who the opponent was, she volunteered immediately upon hearing the opponent was young Matthew. He was just as surprised as the crowd at her using all three methods from the Extra Deck.

Meanwhile Yuya stared at her field, at her monsters, their forms in his mind suddenly changing to look like Reiji's three kings, even Kana was replaced with Reiji's form, he clenched his fist slightly at the thought of the guy. Reminded of his near lost for the fate of his father's school.

"Tiger King's effect activates! When Xyz Summoned, I can directly set a Fire Formation Spell or Trap from my Deck!" she selected her choice, taking the card and setting it. "And now for their other effect, by using one Overlay Unit..." one of the King's units were consumed into the fiery tiger's mouth with a crunch. Tiger King's OLUs: 2 - 1 = 1

"Until the end of the turn, all face-up Effect Monsters other than Beast-Warriors have their effects negated!" she said confidently as Matthew flinched at the mention of said effect, "This won't end well... probably..." he muttered, before running off in a sprint. The King's flame tiger roared before condensing into a ball of fire between the king's held out hands, glowing brighter as the ball got smaller and condensed.

Before finally Tiger King released the pressure, making the ball expand into a wave of searing hot white flames, they travelled over to Matthew's side of the Field, washing over his Mechs, super heating them, until they turned red hot, the heat causing them pain.

"Your Bronze Basher's effects being negated means it loses some of its ATK!" Kana called out, 2300 = 2000 (Bronze Basher's ATK) She grinned as she watched Matthew run off, "Battle!" she declared as her monsters readied themselves, "Swan attacks Steel Slasher!" she called out, also being to run off.

Swan gave a battle cry as he charged at the monster that vanquished it before, though this time it would be victorious in this battle, Steel Slasher could do nothing, still reeling from the pain of the heat inflicted to him. Swan reached the pained mech, stabbing him straight thought the machine's engine chest with their searing hot white flame spear.

Steel Slasher was inflicted with more pain, before bursting into particles, 2800 - 500 = 2300 (Matthew) "Now Horse Prince attacks Gold Rush" she ordered as her Prince galloped across on its fiery steed over to its target. He too cut the their opponent in half, while Matthew still ran around for an Action Card, 2300 - 500 = 1800 (Matthew)

"And finally Tiger King attack Bronze Basher!" she said as she picked up an Action Card near one of the pillars, Tiger King then charged forward, their fiery tiger charging with them. "I activate the Action Spell, Rejuvenation!" she said using the card, "Now one battling monster gains 800 ATK!" she picked her monster. 2500 + 800 = 3300 (Tiger King)

"Because of the ATK boost, I think I'll use Swan's effect!" she smirked, "I send Tenken to the Graveyard..." she sent the Trap to the Graveyard, "And now I target your Nickel Crane and destroy it!" she said as Swan tossed its spear on fire at the Nickel Mech, destroying it in an explosion. "With Tenken gone, your Beast-Warriors lose 300 ATK..." Matthew added as he finally found and grabbed an Action Card in one of the hedges.

3300 = 3000 (Tiger King) 2900 = 2600 (Swan) 2500 = 2200 (Horse Prince)

"I activate the Action Spell, Choice Choice!" Matthew declared using his Action Card instantly, "I choose one of two effects, prevent monster destruction by battle. Or halve battle damage from this attack!" he explained, "I choose the first, meaning Bronze Basher is saved from destruction!" he said as a barrier quickly appeared before the bronze mech, just as Tiger King and their spirit animal made contact with them, saving them.

Kana grinned nonetheless, "But you still take damage!" she said, as the force the blocked attack still washed over Matthew, pushing him back a bit. 1800 - 1000 = 800 (Matthew) "As the battle is over, Tiger King's ATK returns to normal..." she said, 3000 = 2200 (Tiger King)

"The challenger has less than 1000 LP left!" Nico announced dramatically, the crowd eating up at the suspense, Kana's monsters returned to her side of the Field, she grinned to herself, proud at pushing him this far. "I end my turn!" she said. "With it ending, your Effect monsters are no longer negated, meaning Bronze Basher regains its lost ATK from its effect!" she added. Bronze Basher's heated armour cooled down, returning it to normal, though as it was the only Mech Matthew controlled its ATK didn't rise. 2000 = 2000 (Bronze Basher)

Turn 5

"It looks like this Duel may be over folks! Both sides have demonstrated remarkable skill during their turns, but that last turn looks to have turned the tables in Kana's favour, can the challenger turn this whole thing around?" Nico asked to the crowd.

Meanwhile despite the situation he found himself in, Matthew smiled nonetheless, having enjoyed himself more than he expected from this Duel "I will admit Kana, this duel is getting me pumped up" he proclaimed, making her raise an eyebrow, not expecting this reaction.

"Makes me wish I had Duelled you ages ago!" Matthew said, shocking her with this statement, "R-Really!?" she stuttered out, forcing down the sudden blush, which Matthew did not notice. "Really... But this Duel is far from over! Not until one of us gets to zero!" he grinned.

"My turn... Draw!" he drew his card, flipping to see what it was, making him smile, "Good card..." he thought, "I activate the Spell, Xyz Treasure! For every face-up Xyz Monster on the Field, I can draw an additional card, there's two of them, so I draw two cards!" he drew that many, adding them to his Hand, smiling at what he now had.

"Well then..." he muttered, "Looks like I was wrong..." he said looking downwards, Kana guessed by his reaction, he had no way to continue the due- "It looks like this Duel is ending, right now!" he suddenly looked up, grinning with excitement, he then held up two of his cards, revealing them to the crowd and his opponent.

"With the Scale 1 Ore Mech - Chrome Champion and Scale 9 Ore Mech - Uranium Core, I now set the Pendulum Scale!" he shouted, placing them onto his blade on each of the far side, P-E-N-D-U-L-U-M appeared across his blade straight.

The reaction from everyone but his group to this play stunned them, "P-Pendulum!?" Kana yelled out with shock, they all saw two pillars of light appear on his side of the Field, Uranium Core takings its place in one of them. "That new Mech is a Pendulum Monster?!" she asked shocked still. When the Mech reached its height, a scale of 9 appeared beneath the monster.

Appearing in the other pillar was Chrome Champion, a humanoid mech, most of its body was mechanical in design, covering its mechanical body to protect its inner workings with armour plating, though it was silvery and highly polished, reflecting a good amount of light. Its head was a simple helm with an orange visor separating the the forehead piece and the mouth piece. Mounted on its back were four metal and glass canisters in an X formation, within them was a liquid metal substance, these canisters were connected to tubes that linked them to the arms, their hands were comprised of this liquid metal, taking that form. Etched into its shoulder pads and at the centre of its back between the canisters was Cr. Appearing beneath it as reached its needed height was its Scale of 1.

"With this I can Summon monsters Levels 2 through 8 simultaneously!" he declared grinning, "Made from the very earth, be forged to join the battle to defend it!" he chanted as the Pendulum Rift opened up, "Pendulum Summon! Now come forth my Mechs" he called out as their two coloured beams shot out of the rift.

"Appear! Level 4 Ore Mech - Silver Sentry!" A mech composed of silver appeared, standing just under Matthew's height, its body was covered with silver flexible armour. It torso was a sphere the size of a bowling ball, two flat ends on each side of side, where two somewhat small sphere made up its shoulders, its arms were piston like, they could extend, its hands were balls, its fingers apart of them, they disconnected and hovered in place. It forearms had long elongated pieces of silvers, which was folded up energy shields. Resting on each shoulder ball joint was a shoulder pad were small cyclinder batteries, three cyan rings covered them. Two similar batteries were attached onto the back of the torso sphere. Said torso was attached to a mechanical spine, connected to its lower body, which was a quadropod base, giving it fours legs similar to its arms. For its feet it had four spherical metal wheels. covering its body were cyan energy rings, one at the centre of its torso sphere, which contain the symbol of Ag.

"And Level 8! The master of magnetism! Ore Mech - Magnet Master!" Standing as tall as Steel Slasher, with a similar build to said monster, it armour was gunmetal grey, said armour was magnetic, contained with each of its four limbs were electromagnetic generators, connecting to their magnetic armour plates. Its torso was the core powering these four generators. Its head was similar in blocky, its visor was a glowing purple. On its back were two tesla coils. Orange neon light covered parts of its body. Its left side had some dark blue neon lighting, while its right had red.

Wielded in each hand was a fusion of war staff/club. The handles were seperated from the rest of the staff by half ring guards. At fitted at the centre above the handle were crystal discs, its left one was red, the right was blue. The rest of the weapon consisted with 5 thick cylinder rings fitted on the staff. Four stubs evenly placed on each ring. the end rings had a lid to them. another crystal disc embedded at the middle of the lids. The red one had a metal N on it, the blue had an S. The two weapons were super powerful magnets. The magnetic Mech bashed them together, which would have kept them stuck, but the mech had the strength to split them apart also.

Ore Mech - Silver Sentry: EARTH, Level: 4 [Rock/Pendulum/Effect] ATK/1200 DEF/1400 , PS: 7

Ore Mech - Magnet Master: EARTH, Level: 8 [Rock/Pendulum/Effect] ATK/2800 DEF/2200, PS: 0

The crowd were stunned that he had actually performed the brand new method, before its quickly became loud cheers, his group of friends clapped for him, Yuya smiling, "The door for Pendulum Summoning is slowly opening more..." he thought, thinking back on Shuzo's word about his father's Dueltaining.

"What a spectacular summon by the challenger folks, he's just pulled off the brand new Pendulum Summon!" Nico cheered along with them, having not expected this. Making him realise this may what Yuya was hinting at earlier.

Matthew awaited for the crowd to settle down, "As I control two more Mechs, Bronze Basher gains 200 ATK!" his bronze mech glowed at the mention, 2000 + 200 = 2200 (Bronze Basher)

"Silver Sentry's effect! I target Magnet Master, its Level becomes the same as the target's until the end of the turn!" The silver Mech glowed, syncing with the magnetic mech. Silver Sentry's Level: 4 = 8

"Two Level 8 monsters..." Kana sweated nervously, guessing what was coming next. "If your expecting an Xyz Summon, nope!" he said with a grin, confusing her, why alter his monster's Level if not to- "Uranium Core's Pendulum Effect!" the core monster from its pillar glowed, "Ore Mech monsters with the same Level gain 600 ATK!" he explained as the silver and magnetic Mechs glowed with the same green. Silver Sentry's ATK: 1200 + 600 = 1800 Magnet Master's ATK: 2800 + 600 = 3400

"Now I activate the Continious Trap! Ore Mech's Level Resonation!" Matthew declared immediately after his last effect. His face-down flipped up. "I can activate this card if I control two or more Ore Mech monsters with the same Level!" he explained, the two mechs brought their arms together, beginning to produce energy.

"While I control Ore Mechs with the same Level, you cannot activate the effects of your face-up monsters!"" The charged energy expelled, washing over all her monsters, shocking them. Their spirit flames vanishing due to the pulse.

"I activate the Continious Trap, Fire Formation - Burning Hoshi !" Kana called out, "I must control two or more Fire Fist to activate this card " she declared, "And upon activating, I can target and destroy 1 monster you control!" she declared, pointing at Magnet Master, "Your Magnet Master is-" "Hate to burst your bubble, but you can destroy him!" Matthew cut her off.

"Huh?" she got out confused, he smiled to her, "Due to Silver Sentry's effect, Ore Mech monsters with the same Level cannot be destroyed!" he said shocking her, "So your trap is invalid with that effect!" he added.

"I activate the effect of Fire Fist - Panda from my Hand!" Kana said revealing the card, "When I activate a Fire Formation Spell or Trap, I can Special Summon this card from my Hand!" she then placed the card onto her blade, causing a new warrior to appear, its flame spirit would have been a panda.

Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Panda: FIRE, Level: 5 [Beast-Warrior/Effect] ATK/2100 DEF/400

"As this effect was activated from my Hand, the rest of this effect lets me Special Summon a Fire Fist monster from my Graveyard!" she smiled having found a way pass such a Trap.

"I Summon back Hawk in Defense!" Hawk once again appeared. "Hawk's effect is Continious, and as I control a face-up Fire Formation Spell or Trap, its 500 ATK and DEF boost for my monsters can be used!" she said as her monsters were empowered by Hawk. "Not only that, but Burning Hoshi also gives my Beast-Warriors an additional 300 ATK!" She grinned as she watched her Duel Disk reveal her monsters new stats.

Hawk's ATK/DEF: 200/1500 + 800/500 = 1000/2000

Panda's ATK/DEF: 2100/400 800/500 = 2900/900

Swan's ATK/DEF: 2600 2200+ 800/500 = 3400/2700

Horse Prince's ATK/DEF: 2200/2200 + 800/500 = 3000/2700

Tiger King's ATK/DEF 2200/1800 + 800/500 = 3000/2300

"Oh my goodness! It seems Kana hasn't been deterred by her opponent's new Pendulum Summon and mighty Trap card! What can Matthew hope to do in this situation!?"

Matthew smirked, thrilled, this would make the comeback better, "Talk about making me the underdog here Kana..." he said with a grin, "But you know they say with an underdog, right?" he asked, "They make great comebacks!" he yelled determined.

"I now activate Magnet Master's effect!" he began as Bronze Basher's remaining Overlay Unit started to shake from its orbit. "As I control a Mech Xyz Monster, by using one of its Overlay Units..." the shaking Unit then soared over the magnet Mech, straight into its chest..." 1 - 1 = 0 (Bronze Basher)

"A non Xyz Monster using an Overlay Unit!?" Nico questioned, having never heard such a thing, Ronald raised an eyebrow at this, "Interesting..." he thought.

"I can now target 1 monster you control, and half its ATK and DEF until the end of the turn!" Matthew explained, shocking his opponent, "But that means..." she looked to her field, "Oh if you thought that was the worst of it, you're wrong!" he added.

"You see, as I control two Ore Mechs with the same Level, I can target an addition monster with Magnet Master's effects!" he said, "Yes, both his effects..." he said. "I target Panda and Hawk!" at the mention, his mech's visor glowed, confirming his targets.

Both the mech's weaponry began to extend slightly, beginning to charge with electricity in their respective colours of their polarity. two energy ball began to gather at the ends, the mech then swung its weapons like bats, slamming the two balls into their targets, they cried out at the shocking. 2900/900 = 1450/450 (Panda) 1000/2000 = 500/1000 (Hawk)

"Due to Tin Wheeler being detached from Bronze Basher, it loses its 600 ATK boost!" Matthew reminded, 2200 - 600 = 1600 (Bronze Basher)

Kana flinched at what had transpired "Time to end this!" he smiled, she took off running at this, "Battle! Bronze Basher attack Panda! Magnet Master attack Hawk!" the two nodded, and charged. The magnetic mech brought the handles of his weapons handles together, forming a double ended staff.

"At this moment I activate Magnet Master's other effect!" the merged weapons glowed, both coloured energy coursing together and mixing, creating a purple glow, "I can switch the battle positions of any monster on the field, I select Panda" he explained, this strange move making Kana halt. "Wait... so your switching Panda into Defense?" she asked confused.

"Yep! And Hawk into Attack due Magnet Master's effect for an additional target." he said, "Any monster that switches its position due to this effect cannot be destroyed once if attacked." he added.

With a twist of his wrist, the two targets switched their positions, Panda's knelt down as a blue aura covered the monster, meanwhile Hawk stood up and lost its blue aura.

"What are you planning... You just lost the chance to deal some major battle damage!" she questioned his brash, "Did I?" he asked smirking, "You've probably forgot something else about Pendulum Monster's since their debut..." he began as Bronze Basher closed in on Panda. A silver aura began to envelop the mech, courtesy of Chrome Champion.

"They have Pendulum Effects! And Chrome Champion's Pendulum effect can by used right now! As I control two or monsters Ore Mechs with the same Level, the first Mech to battle a monster in Defense can inflict piercing battle damage!" she gasped at the reveal as Bronze Basher slammed its weapons into side of the crouching Panda, causing him pain. "Due to Magnet Master, the monster isn't destroyed!" he reminded.

Suddenly the attacked monster was repelled from the mech, somehow being polarised to repel the metal monster. And despite her monster being in Defense, she still took damage, shocking her that the Pendulum effect was true. 2100 - 1150 = 950 (Kana)

"So what, if my monster's can't be destroyed, and you can't get over their ATK, then as soon as you end your turn, I'm-" "I think you've forgotten a small detail there Kana..." Matthew stopped her.

"Your Hawk is now in Attack!" he reminded, making her gasped, she looked over too late to see the magnetic mech was right before her weakened Hawk, spinning its fused weapon over its head before slamming it into Hawk's side, sending the monster into one of the pillars, cracking the object, groaning as they slumped onto the ground.

950 - 2900 = 0 (Kana)

"And that's how you make a comeback!" Matthew said taking a bow.

Kana: LOSE

Matthew: WINS

Upon registering the win, the Action Field dematerialised. As well as the monsters residing on it. "And the winner by a stunning comeback is Matthew Denisu!" Nico declared, the crowd cheered their loudest at such a wonderful end to the duel, "Damn it..." Kana frowned as she returned her cards to her Deck, now she would need a few more wins to qualify in time- "Hey!" her just opponent called out to her, walking over to her.

"Hmm?" she went as he stood before her, he held out his hand, "That was some Duel there Kana, could have gone either way..." he said with a smile, making her blush slightly, "You mean it?" she asked, "Sure, one of us had to win... Guess it was meant to be me this time..." he said.

"This time?..." she repeated, "Sure, now that I've duelled you, I can't wait to do it again!" she gasped at hearing, "After the Championship is over. What do you say?" he asked smiling at her, awaiting her response.

She was stunned, thinking it over before smiling and grabbing his hand to shake it, "Sure, I look forward to beating you next time!" she declared, the two grinned at the other, and while she would like to have said more, she was fine with this for now. "Maybe another time..." Kana thought as she shook his hand.

"What sportsmanship between these amazing Duelists! Let's give them both a round of applause!" Nico called out, causing another wave of applause, the two turning to face the group and bow to them.

Meanwhile Matthew's group clapped for him still amazed at the duel, "That was amazing! Ayu cheered out, "Clever!" Tatsuya added, "Shivers!" Futoshi said dancing, "He's gotten use his new cards so fast!" Yuzu said to her boyfriend, who nodded.

"Sure has..." he said smiling as he watched Matthew walk off, "Looks like its time for us to move on to the next Duel." he said, the group then got up and proceeded to make their way to the next Duel. Yuya then thought on the other two having their Duels, a thought coming to mind...

"I wonder how they're doing?" Within an alleyway, a group of thugs were lounging about, bored, from the shadows one of them heard movement, alerting them all, getting defensive.

Appearing from the shadows was Shun... And he was not happy, arming his Duel Disk.

Meanwhile Yuto stood on the rooftop, scanning the area, clearly awaiting for something... or someone. "Almost time..." he thought, preparing himself.

Pendulum Effect: When a "Melodious" monster you control is destroyed by battle: Special Summon 1 "Melodious" Monster from your Hand. You can use this effect once per turn.

For every other "Melodious" monsters you control: Target cards your opponent controls; they have their effects negated for the rest of the turn. When this card destroys a monster by battle: Draw 1 card, if that card is a "Melodious" monster: This card can make a second attack. When this card is Pendulum Summoned: Target 1 monster you control; its gains 100 ATK x the Levels you can Pendulum Summon until the end of the turn. You can only use each effect of "Mozarta the Melodious Maestra" once per turn.

(Odd-Eyes Dragon evolved into a Pendulum Monster, so I decided to have Mozarta do the same thing, plus I've already changed Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, and some other cards, what's a few more)
