"We've got to stop meeting like this."

She hovered just outside his reach, looking hurt. "Why? Just because you have outdated ideas about death - "

"Listen, Luce, I know it isn't you." Lockwood reached for his belt while never taking his eyes off the translucent ghost before him.

"I'm a Type Three; you know we're actually able to hold conversations like before we died," she said sullenly. "Don't you dare throw that salt bomb at me, or I'll go and haunt George instead."

Lockwood did not relinquish the salt bomb he now held. "Come on, Luce. Surely you have better things to do than haunt me?"

"I'm not haunting you, I'm just sticking with you. That's what Lockwood and Co does. We stick together."

"You're on the Other Side, for heaven's sake!" he said, and tossed the salt bomb at her.

Lucy came apart, but reformed almost immediately, barely dimmer despite the salt scattered near her Source. "I know. That won't stop us, though, Lockwood? Can't you put me in a ghost-jar if you're so worried?"

"Listen, if you keep bothering me I'll chuck you in with the Skull and let you hear him without respite for all eternity," said Lockwood, drawing his rapier. "I love you, Luce, but I just - I can't deal with you haunting me, okay?"

She sighed, suddenly looking small and defenceless. "It wasn't my fault that I died. I just get kind of bored without you, you know? You're my life. You and the company."

Lockwood advanced slowly, rapier held ready to attack. "I'm sorry, Luce. We're not your life. You're dead."

I've been thinking about a Type Three!Lucy/Lockwood fic for a while. Don't know if this will have more than this one chapter - for now it's a one-shot - but it honestly might, because it's an interesting dynamic, I reckon. Please review and tell me what you think about it!

I do want to get back to some of my other fics someday, but for now I'm following the plot bunnies wherever they lead; inspiration is unpredictable and fleeting, and I don't have a load of bandwidth for it. I've been writing and posting some original fics on AO3 under the same name; I'd love for you to check them out, though be warned, the most recent one I wrote, for example, the whole chapter is about a suicide attempt. Anyway yeah. Take care. God be with you.
