Anistar City Gym (Day)

In the vast kaleidoscope of colors that was the Anistar Gym, two people stood opposite eachother on the battlefield.

The first person was the Gym Leader, Olympia. She was a woman with flowing purple hair that seemed to levitate, and she wore a silver cloak around herself. At her side was her partner, a Female Meowstic. The second person was Kalos' Champion, Dominic. He was a teenager with blonde hair that barely reached his shoulders. He wore a red hoodie over a white shirt, as well as a pair of torn jeans and sneakers. On his hand was a Mega Glove, and standing at his side was his partner, Charizard.

"Why did you call me here, Olympia?" Dominic asked. He knew that if the famed Oracle of Kalos personally requested his presence, it was because something bad was going to happen in the near future.

"Straight to the point as always." the Gym Leader said, a fond smile on her face. "Tell me, what do you know of the Chamber Of Emptiness?"

"Not much. I only ever explored it once." Dominic said, recalling the strange cavern. "The air felt off, and I couldn't shake the feeling that something was in there with me. The only thing I ever gained from going inside was the Spooky Plate. I still don't really understand how the chamber worked."

"You found one of the Life Plates in the Chamber Of Emptiness?" Olympia asked, impressed. "I suppose that makes sense, considering the chamber's unique properties."

"What properties?" Dominic asked, confused.

"You spoke of the air feeling strange, and of a feeling that someone was watching you." the psychic woman said, to which Dominic nodded. "There are myths about the Chamber Of Emptiness. They tell of wild Pokemon wandering in, never to come back out. Some call it a portal, and others simply claim that the chamber has a hidden exit only Pokemon can locate."

"What about you? What do you think is inside?" the Champion asked.

"I believe the chamber is a gateway to another world." Olympia said. "When I personally went to see it for myself, I felt the fabric of reality thinning as I approached. It stands to reason that inside the chamber, reality nears its breaking point."

"So, are you worried something might cause the world to shatter?" Dominic asked, thinking back to what happened in Sinnoh and Hisui.

"No. In fact, it has nothing to do with our world at all." the oracle said. Suddenly, her eyes widened and she started to levitate off the ground. "Beyond the veil that separates worlds, you will find a special person with the ability to rein the infinite abyss! You will help guide this person, and you will protect them from all who would do them harm! If you fail in this task, an entire world will meet its end!" After that, Olympia descended back to the floor.

"I understand." Dominic said, turning to leave the Gym, followed soon after by Charizard.

Chamber Of Emptiness (Day)

Dominic and Charizard stared into the cavern's entrance, which appeared to be a void of eternal nothingness. "Here we go." the trainer said as he and his partner entered.

Despite all the scary rumors and legends, the Chamber Of Emptiness was in no way complex. From the entrance, there was a straight path leading to an empty room. The last time he came here, Dominic found the Spooky Plate half buried in the ground. Now though, it seemed even more disturbing. There was absolutely no sound at all. Even his and Charizard's footsteps were silent. And, while he never noticed last time, Dominic couldn't see the ceiling of the cave. It was just darkness as far as his eye could see.

He didn't like it.

"Okay, we just need to find where the veil between worlds is thinnest, and then we can leave this terrible place." Dominic said, searching for anything out of the ordinary. Well, for the Chamber Of Emptiness, anyway. So far, nothing. "Any luck on your end?" he asked Charizard. The Pokemon appeared focused on something. Something that seemed to be visible only to its eyes. 'Olympia did say some of the rumors talked about an exit only a Pokemon could find.' Dominic realized. He followed Charizard's gaze and walked to where the Pokemon was staring. As soon as he touched the wall, a bright green light engulfed them both, causing them to vanish from the world.

Tristain Academy Of Magic (Day)

When Louise cast her summoning spell, she expected it to explode. After all, she hadn't done anything to improve her skills in magic since she was a child. However, she could see something moving in the smoke. Something big.

A plume of fire broke through the smoke, blowing it all away to reveal a 5-foot tall winged lizard with a flame at the end of its tail. It kept an eye on every living thing in the courtyard, wary. But despite this, it didn't attack. It simply stood on a single area, glaring at the students and their familiars.

"Charizard, I'm fine." Dominic said, walking into the view of the crowd. Charizard turned its attention to its trainer, relieved. The blonde put his hand on his partner's forehead, trying to calm it down. This seemed to work, as the Pokemon's facial muscles relaxed. Now that Charizard was calm, Dominic turned to face Louise. "Now then, who might you be?"

Louise was mortified. She didn't summon a winged salamander like she originally thought, she summoned a commoner who had tamed one. Of all the humiliating things that happened to her in the past week, this had to be the worst. "Mr. Colbert, may I please redo the summoning ritual?" she pleaded.

"I can't let you do that." the man said. "This is a sacred ceremony that determines a mage's life. To redo it would be a desecration of that ceremony. Regardless of whether you like it or not, this boy is to become your familiar."

"But, I've never heard of a human being taken as a familiar." Louise mumbled. Even though her words were as quiet as she could make them, a certain redhead heard her.

"I remember you saying you'd summon a Familiar greater than ours, and you ended up summoning a human. Sure, he may be a knight, but that doesn't really change things. Did you pay him to do this?" Kirche asked, mocking Louise.

"I only screwed up a little!" the pinkette yelled in outrage, something that got the attention of her new familiar. His expression went from confused to livid in seconds.

"A little? You screw up all the time, Louise The Zero." Kirche added, getting those around her to laugh.

"I'm sorry, what was your name?" Dominic asked.

Thinking that this was an attempt at flirting, the redhead gladly answered. "Kir-"

"Nobody cares!" Dominic interrupted. "Listen, Miss Nobody Cares. As of today, I am in the service of..." Realizing he never learned her name, the blonde turned to face the pinkette. "I'm sorry, what was your name?"

Caught off-guard, Louise was unable to answer for a few seconds. Then, she found her senses and gave her name. "Louise Francoise le Blanc de la Valliere."

"Well, then, Miss Valliere. My name is Dominic Xiao-Long." Dominic said, smiling. "I hope Charizard and I will be of assistance to you." The blonde and his partner both bowed.

While this happened, Louise thought about what exactly had gone down. She had just summoned a boy who had control over a flying salamander. Maybe this wouldn't be as bad as she originally assumed.

"Miss Valliere, please finish the ritual." Colbert said.

"Go ahead." Dominic said, unaware of what the end of the ritual entailed.

"Here we go." Louise said, approaching the boy. "My name is Louise Francoise le Blanc de la Valliere." She pointed her wand at Dominic. "Pentagon that governs the five powers, grace this boy with your blessing and make him my familiar spirit." The girl pressed her lips to Dominic's forehead.

This ended up causing an explosion that knocked both Dominic and Charizard out. As the blonde laid on the ground, strange symbols embedded themselves into his hand.
