Inside a GUN base where the wreck of the Egg Carrier was being stored; Robotnik examined it as he was being accompanied by Commander Walters and the Secretary of Defence. picked up a piece of broken Badnik as he looked at how damaged everything was and how it would be impossible for even someone as him to get it operational in it's current state. "A superb piece of engineering and to be my masterstroke to be ruined by that hedgehog... No matter from it's ashes I shall build something better..." Robotnik bitterly spoke as he then dropped it and faced Walters and the Secretary. "I will require to be given this as well as my gauntlet returned to me from when I was found... I shall be able to use my tech here to build a force to combat that hedgehog and for that I will need authorisation to set up a factory for an army powered by the siphoned off power from the Carrier..." Robotnik told them but the Secretary put up his hand to silence him causing him.
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves here Doctor as we have agreed to bring you in as a consultant but that doesn't give you the right to be making demands. You will be given a workspace to work under direction in the base where Sigma Alpha-2 are being stationed in. They will be handling most of the operations in this mission." the Secretary told him and Robotnik held his emotions in check for now as he couldn't afford to make a scene here while he was bargaining.
"With all due respect Mr Secretary; your forces are ill-equipped to deal with something like Sonic. If you would have any chance of taking care of him then I need the freedom to build your best chance..." Robotnik replied but Walters scoffed.
"By your own admission Doctor; you have failed to do anything to this hedgehog and our representatives and lawyers are doing their best to stall complaints about GUN's presence in a populated city. Last thing we need is to give you the resources and funding to make things worse by sending a robot army to the streets." Walters then retorted and Robotnik was holding back anger. "I think that the Doctor and I need to go to the base; we are still trying to soothe things over with the SFPD chief and commissioner." Walters told the Secretary and he nodded with Robotnik following Walters out of there thinking.
"I will show you hust how outmatched by giving you and everyone a taste of my expertise..." Robotnik then thought as he put on the show of compliance with this order.
It was night at San Francisco with GUN helicopters patrolling the skies with GUN trucks and cars patrolling the streets. However at one diamond store from the alley came a purple jerboa Mobian wearing a western styled hat as well as a brown belt and slash, brown boots and brown gloves riding upon a yellow and blue airbike. He went to the controls of his airbike and had the targetting system locked on the window display with it firing missiles. An alarm was set off and he grinned as he got out a bag and started loading the diamonds into his bag.
This got the attention of one GUN police car and the officers came to the scene and was met with Nack as they had their guns pointed to him as he mockingly put his arms up. "Great... Now there is some cowboy weasel now..." muttered one of the officers as one called for GUN support.
"Hey... I haven't gone by 'weasel' for a long while now!" the jerboa then said indigniantly, he then got back onto the airbike and put up a forcefield around it as they started firing. He then took off as GUN cars and trucks arrived with a helicopter now on his trail as he flied off.
There was firing from the helicopters as it just bounched off as he looked up and then said mockingly "don't bother; you can't get past this shield with measly bullets and this beaut the Marvelous Queen can outpace most machines!" He then had the Marvelous Queen go off at full speed and managed to loose the GUN forces.
It was a new morning at the Wachowski house with them gathered on the TV with it being a Saturday; "We are gonna have so much fun together! Watch TV and play games all day!" Jojo was telling the Mobian guests with Cream looked especially delighted.
"Let us watch the morning news reports and you can have the TV to watch Paw Patrol, Jojo honey." Maddie was telling Jojo as she was putting the TV on with Jojo nodding in understanding. Sonic however quietly scoffed with his hand to his cheek with looks on him.
"Not really into it, just seems so... Not my style..." Sonic muttered as Tom laughed.
"Well I thought you wuld feel familiar as it involves talking animals and a kid whose a brilliant inventor, Mr Blue Quills!" Tom told him who just shrugged as there were giggles at this. The news report had the on the scene reporter at the site of the destroyed entrance of the diamond store which was now a crime scene. "...GUN has yet to make a statement but eyewitnesses claims that it was the work of a humanoid purple weasel on some sort of flying bike..."
This instantly got the attention of Sonic and Tails who before any of the humans could react then shouted out at once "Fang!"
"Let me guess; another of you friends from Mobius?" Maddie asked as they all guessed that's where he would be from once the description was given.
"More like foe; a treasure hunter, bounty hunter and mercenary... Wanted throughout Mobius and has had gone by and ditched various aliases due to his wanted status on countless islands throughout Mobius." Tails then explained with Sonic looked like he would be ready to try and find him on the spot.
"Has never given me big trouble like Robotnik has and is more of a nuisance in comparison though Robotnik has hired his services before; still he can be dangerous and crafty if he has the chance." Sonic said as Tom looked at the crime scene on the news report.
"A Mobian criminal loose here as well and more fuel for GUN to paint Mobians as dangerous invaders." Tom pointed out shaking his head with his wife and daughter concerned.
"Well then I know who I will be hunting for tonight!" Sonic then said with a grin.
Robotnik was hard at work in the lab that he was given; putting together a tank drone with wheels and materials provided to him. There was a monitor showing the news report to him as he glanced at it; "So my on and off hired help... You have been sent here as well... Thankful as it will give me an excuse to have this sent out... More 'alien invaders' out in the streets and the more opportunity to have my genius asked for..." Robotnik said to himself as GUN Agent Stone entered the lab.
"Doctor, Commander Walters was asking for the progress in... DId you build that? Already?" Stone said and then looked in awe at the tank as Robotnik smiled as he went up to Stone putting a hand on his shoulder.
"I have been perfecting my craft ever since my career in robotics started and the years I spent off planet, while not up to my usual standards with the time crunch and lower than usual resources... I have faith that it will be up to the task set forth to it." Robotnik then told him.
"It's beautiful Doctor..." Stone said as Robotnik smirked and nodded. "How long before it will be operational and field ready? Within the week?" Stone asked as Robotnik laughed in response to the statement.
He then slapped Stone on the back and then said "try hours..."
It was later and during the night as Sonic and Tails were in the garage at a workbench that was set up for Tails to do some rough building with some broken down electronics that Tom and Maddie had gotten for him. Including fixing up a broken police scanner and managing to hack into a GUN communication signal.
They listened in as one of the helicopters had picked up on 'the flying coyote' attacking a truck making a delivery from the bank. "Please be careful Sonic; even with Fang, I don't think that GUN will be any less unfriendly towards you..." Tails said as Sonic gave him a thumbs up.
"Don't worry Tails; I will be ready for this..." Sonic assured him as he then stormed off, aiming for the alleyways at top speed before slowing down as he began moving about the streets until he found the truck attempting to dodge the missile blasts being sent by Fang on the Marvelous Queen. On pursuit of Fang was a squadron of GUN trucks and helicopters.
Sonic readied himself as he then got to the front of the truck and ran up to the top' he then ran and jumped while using his Spin Dash to attack the Marvelous Queen, disabling the forcefield for a second before Fang had to scramble to get it working again.
"Heard that you were out and about Sonic but you are not gonna stop me! This is a whole new world and one to make myself a new fortune of riches and jewels! This truck has so much of the currency of this world that I will be set for a long while!" Fang grinned as Sonic was now on the road chasing after Fang on the Marvelous Queen.
"How exactly are you gonna go about it? Besides the fugitive thing as that's nothing new for you, how do you plan on spending that fortune? This world has people in charge that's decided already that they don't like us Mobians and how do you plan on going to stores and buying stuff without raising alarms? Since I bet that a reward for your capture would be much more than what you have?" Sonic asked raising an eyebrow and this actually left Fang speechless and deep in thought.
"You haven't thought this through... Have You?" Sonic laughed as he had to dodge fire from the guns of the GUN vehicles. "What's the big idea? I am trying to help you stop this guy?" Sonic demanded as he looked behind him.
"All you alien freaks are enemies to mankind! Plus after all the trouble you have caused hedgehog; you are our biggest priority!" snapped a GUN soldier out of a car windshield as Sonic rolled his eyes; him being the bigger priority than the actual thief when all he did to get on their bad side was mind his business and try to get to safety.
Deployed from the back of a GUN truck was Robotnik's completed tank and a message was given out to the GUN vehicles to make way. The tank then beagn firing missles from the red eye at the top and Sonic's eyes widened at how fast it was and had to dodge; "I doubt this is normal tech for these guys..." Sonic muttered and Fang was nonplussed about the lasers as he had his forcefield.
However a shot from the lasers went through it and ended up shortcircuiting the Marvelous Queen. He had to jump off and make a not so soft landing as it crashed on teh ground with Sonic having to jump over it as it made it's crash. All the while there were screaming civilians that Sonic had to push out of the way of the lasers. Fang however managed to get up and then escaped through a manhole on the ground.
Sonic began having to focus on dodging the lasers from the tank and getting people out of the way as he then Spindashed at the tank causing it to be damaged. However his satisfaction was shortlived as it then spready out and transformed, the wheels attached to longer attachments and he had to dodge more lasers from it while having a sneaking suspicion on where this tank came from.
He then sent himself further and faster as he then got the segments of the tank damaged and it fell apart and exploding. However the last bit sent out a message of a recorded laugh as it said "Until next time hedgehog..."
Fang gagged and was physically ill as he had landed right in the river of sewage and groaned at how long it would take to have himself be completely washed off and get the putrid smell off him; that's if he could find somewhere to get washed off that is. Plus how exactly was he going to make it back to his new small hideout to retrieve his stolen diamond stash and now without his beloved Marvelous Queen.
Oh; GUN and Sonic are going to pay for this...
The next morning they were gathered together as the news report was talking about the attempted truck heist and the fight with Sonic, Fang and GUN with the tank. Some people that Sonic pushed out of the way were being interviewed as they complained about GUN tearng up their streets as much as Fang was and it was the hedgehog that pushed them out of the way.
However there was a live message from GUN Commander Walters giving a speech about how they hear the concerns of the people and this procedures will only be tomporary until the 'alien threat' had been taken care off. "We have reached out to our consultant who has been MIA for a good few years but had gathered intel on these alien animals. Please may I introduce to you... Doctor Julian Robotnik!" Walters said and the Wachowskis were silent as the Mobians were shocked to hear that.
Then Robotnik came into view of the cameras in a suit, sunglasses and his moustache trimmed down.
"So that's Robotnik and this clarifies that he is working with GUN? I don't see anything good coming from this..." Tom said quietly as Cream was whimpering and needed Jojo to pull her in to comfort her.
"Neither do I and it seems that Robotnik used his silver tongue to trick pawns into working with him against Sonic again. They do not know who exactly they are working with..." Tails said looking concerned as Sonic was just silently looking at the TV seriously.
"Hold on a second..." Sonic then yelled out loud as they looked him looking quite confused. "Julian... He has a first name? I have known him since I was 6 and he has only ever been Robotnik to me... I had first thought that 'Doctor' was his first name..." Sonic explained as there were sighs and giggles from Cream and Jojo.
At the base that GUN's forces in San Francisco were using there were agents trying to prepare for the next time that one of alien animals were spotted. "This has gone on for far enough... I say we break down every door in the city and see if anyone is harbouring them!" Westwood had snapped out loud and calling for agreements from other soldiers.
"An ill-adviced idea Captain; we are haivng our lawyers and representatives trying to calm the complaints down and needlessly escalating things will only result in more bad press and complaints! The lawyers can only delay them for so long since us stationed here and bringing the police under command isn't legal and searching homes without due cause or warrants will not help matters!" a superior retorted and before Westwood could offer any sort of reaction in came Robotnik smirking as he had his gauntlet returned to him.
"Listen here everyone; I am basically in charge now. I am officially a consultant but the Department of Defense themselves gave the message that I was to be given more freedom since it was my work that in such a short time was more effective here than you lot had been ever since you had first learned of the blasted hedgehog's existence!" Robotnik stated smugly with the soldiers and agents not happy about this arrangement as Robotnik went up to Walters.
"As per the new addmendments to the arrangement; resources and funding shall be allocated to a special lab in a remote island. This includes the return of your gauntlet and the wreckage off your carrier. For all this the Secretary of Defense wants results and you will be acting under supervision of Agent Stone." Walters told him and Stone came up to him while Robotnik nodded. "Keep an eye on Robotnik closely and watch any network that or plans that he has. The Secretary wants to know if he has any files pertaining to creating super fast hedgehogs. He has a suspcion that the Doctor was involved in it's origins." Walters whispered to Stone who nodded.
"The tank drone failed against Sonic but I never expected it to; it was to demonstrate the effectiveness of my brains and technology that with such a shuddy piece of machinery I was able to demonstrate I was more capable against Sonic and the Mobians while they have struggled against them. I have my property returned to me and under GUN's eye; i shall have the Eggman Empire rebuilt on my home planet." Robotnik thought to himself smugly.
Seems that now officially Nack is going by his Japanese name of Fang with it being explained as having used different aliases as a wanted fugitive. Plus getting his own spinoff IDW comic miniseries. Plus used the design of the tank that Robotnik sent in the first movie though without as much failsafes.
